"This is the reality of the world." Her dark eyes surveyed the battlefield; wherever she looked, corpse after corpse lay, piled up on one another like small hills as far as her sight reached. Rivers of blood began to form, aided by the torrential rain falling over the scene.

Some of them belonged to Konoha ninjas, others to ninjas from different villages, but regardless of whose body it was, they all shared something in common:

A look of grievance and reluctance etched on their lifeless faces.

"This is the world I will live in." It wasn't a question but a statement to herself. Even so, a voice reached her ears, making the desolation inside her intensify even more.

"That's right, Izumi. I want you to remember this well and never forget what you've seen here today. Ninjas are beings who fight."

Upon hearing those words, something inside her stirred, and two streams of tears began to flow from her eyes uncontrollably. At the same time, a warmth unlike any other started to assault her retinas, like red-hot iron on skin, causing sharp, burning pain. She felt her chakra stir, and something changed within her. It was a terrifying sensation, and for a second, she was tempted to close her eyes, but she didn't.

She allowed that strange power to keep flowing until the world around her became clearer, sharper, much more detailed, much slower. Yet, even then, the scene before her remained unchanged. It was still that hell.

A hell that would be etched deeply into her memories forever.

'I will change it.'

She didn't know from where or why, but that desire was born within her. Maybe the world she lived in was hell, but she didn't want to sit by and do nothing; she didn't want to simply accept it.

She refused to.

'I will change everything!'

That thought echoed within her, reverberating in her being, until the reality around her began to distort, and the image in front of her started to shatter into a thousand pieces, plunging everything into darkness. Suddenly, Sukuna felt his consciousness return, and slowly, he began to regain his senses.

'What was that?' Those weren't his memories.

'Did I absorb too many negative emotions from that girl?' Something like that had happened to him before, but never in such a detailed and vivid way. After all, negative emotions held the grudges and grievances of those who generated them. Normally, a sorcerer only had to deal with their own "negative memories," but Sukuna had learned that by devouring the negative emotions of others, he could "see" and "feel" some of the things that caused those negative emotions to be created in the first place.

It was bothersome, but usually avoidable by instantly converting such emotions into cursed energy. Only when fragments of them remained unused inside him could he see traces of those "memories," but just as vague images or distant sensations, nothing more than minor annoyances that would fade once he consumed them completely.

But this was different. It wasn't vague or distant; it was as if he had been there, as if he had lived through it himself.

Every feeling, every moment in that place.

It was unpleasant.

Opening his eyes, he found himself staring at the blue sky, with the sun still close to the horizon.

Then, that view was blocked by a familiar face, and his green eyes met a pair of dark eyes.

"You're awake."

Sukuna blinked, looking at the girl for a moment before standing up and stretching, feeling his body sore and noticing that his wounds were now covered with bandages that hadn't been there before.

It seemed he had been treated while he was unconscious.

"How long was I asleep?" At his sudden question, Izumi, who was sitting not far away, watching him stretch, calmly replied.

"Almost two hours."

Well, that was longer than Sukuna had expected.

"Alright, in that case, see you later." He had something to do that day, and it would be troublesome if he missed it.

Upon seeing him, they began to walk away without any concern. Izumi blinked, confused for a second. Then, she suddenly stood up and quickly planted herself in front of Sukuna, blocking his path.

"Huh? What's up?" Seeing her appear so suddenly and staring at him with such intensity, Sukuna couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. This girl… could she have fallen for his amazing self or something?

"Your jutsu... you said if I won, you'd teach it to me."

"Oh, right, I guess we agreed on something like that, didn't we?" At the time, he had only accepted to motivate her to fight harder. He really hadn't thought he'd lose, and now he seemed to be in a bit of trouble because of it.

"You're not going to back out, are you?" Hearing this, Sukuna scoffed.

"Hey, let me make something clear, Brat. I never go back on my word. If I said I'd teach you, then I will."

How? Sukuna had no idea. Well, actually, he did. Theoretically, now that all his cursed techniques and sorcery abilities were fueled by chakra, he could teach them to others by simply showing them how he performed them. Of course, that was easier said than done.

After all, there were some things that just came with experience and instincts and teaching them was not so simple.

If it were any other technique, he could have tried to take the easy route and let her copy it with her Sharingan. The problem was that The Simple Domain negated that ability of her dojutsu when used, which is why Izumi hadn't copied it in the first place and needed him to teach her personally.

'Well, I guess I'll have to put in some effort.'

Izumi narrowed her eyes at seeing him so thoughtful, although internally she didn't doubt that he was telling the truth. They may not have known each other for long, but somehow she felt she could understand him on a strangely deep level, a kind of closeness that was hard to describe with words.

At the same time, she also felt a sort of distance, as if she had only skimmed the surface of something far more complex. It was contradictory, and she wondered if he felt the same or if it was just her.

"In three days, meet me here, and I'll teach it to you." Sukuna's voice snapped her out of her thoughts, bringing her back to reality.

"Three days?" Seeing her doubt, Sukuna simply shrugged.

"I'm injured, you're injured, and besides, your chakra probably hasn't fully recovered either. Learning a jutsu in these conditions would just slow things down. So yes, three days, first thing in the morning, here."

Izumi thought about it for a moment before nodding. Three days—neither too much nor too little—was enough time for a ninja of her caliber to recover from the state she was currently in and return in her best form.

With that said, Sukuna walked past her with his hands in his pockets, starting to head toward his destination before it got any later. Izumi watched him leave before disappearing as well, beginning her journey back to the Uchiha complex.

The soft sound of the brush soaking in ink and gliding over the paper filled the room, while the smoke from a pipe floated in the air, accompanying the calmness of the moment.

Hiruzen inspected the writing with a critical eye before nodding in satisfaction and preparing to continue, but before he could, a soft knock on the door interrupted him. Without turning to look, he spoke to allow entry.

The door opened smoothly and silently, and a short figure approached the Hokage's side with light steps, sitting on the empty cushion that had been beside him.

"You're a little late, Sukuna-chan."

Sukuna nodded and looked at the blank paper in front of him before taking his own brush and dipping it into the black ink that had been prepared for him.

"I met the genius of the Uchiha clan. I couldn't resist and challenged her to a fight." At those words, Hiruzen blinked and finally turned, noticing Sukuna's battered state.

"First Anko and now her? Do you have some kind of masochistic desire in you, my young apprentice?"

Sukuna laughed.

"Maybe, although I really just wanted to know the difference between her and me."

"From the way you look, I assume you know now." Sukuna nodded.

"Yes, she's tough. I used a lot of what you taught me, and I still lost." And upon hearing that, Hiruzen wasn't surprised. Being able to beat Anko was one thing; if Sukuna had also beaten Izumi Uchiha, then Hiruzen would have doubted even himself.

Of course, even if he had "won," Sukuna wouldn't have admitted it so openly. The fact that he technically lost simply made lying unnecessary.

"I hope this helps you understand that trying to run before learning to walk will only lead you to stumble. Patience is the key to progressing properly. You haven't even entered the academy yet, and you're already several steps ahead of the other kids in your generation. I understand that might make you feel a bit anxious, but rushing is never the right choice."

Sukuna accepted the "reprimand" without complaint. After all, in the Hokage's eyes, his actions seemed to stem from his "genius" status going to his head, causing him to aim too high, only to stumble and fall.

"Walk and not run, huh? You might be right about that, old man," Sukuna said, though he had no intention of holding back if another interesting opponent appeared in front of him. After all, it had already been half a decade since he arrived in this world—he'd been patient enough, hadn't he?

Being called "old man," Hiruzen couldn't help but sigh. Whether it was Naruko or Sukuna, neither of them seemed to give him the respect he deserved. Even so, he didn't complain. In a way, he was also tired of the formalities, and having something different was always a breath of fresh air for his old body.

"Alright, enough idle talk. We may have lost some time due to your tardiness, but we still have enough for today's lesson. We'll continue where we left off last time—Fundamentals of Fuinjutsu, Volume Two."

At that, Sukuna got serious and nodded, focusing his full attention.

.

.

.

The lesson soon ended, and Hiruzen dismissed Sukuna, watching him leave. He then returned to his office, ready to continue his work. He would have liked to dedicate more time to properly teaching the boy, but for now, he could only do so occasionally during the week and for limited periods.

Despite that, Sukuna made great strides, absorbing everything he was taught like a sponge. His potential was enormous, and with the right guidance, his future seemed unimaginable.

But that guidance wasn't his to give, which is why, even though he taught him a few things, he hadn't made the decision to officially take him as his disciple. He had already had disciples before, and the facts about them were clear—a psychopathic traitor, an alcoholic gambler, and a pervert who spent his time traveling from place to place.

Well, maybe Jiraiya didn't fully count, but it was undeniable that Jiraiya taught himself more than Hiruzen ever did, as he had favored Orochimaru at the time.

Age gave perspective, and Hiruzen would be a fool if he couldn't see that, as a teacher, he hadn't truly achieved real success, despite what people said about him.

'Still, I'm not completely useless yet,' his eyes narrowed as he sat in the Hokage's chair, staring at one of the corners of the office until a dark figure revealed itself, stepping out of its concealment.

"I hope I didn't make you wait too long, Danzo." At his words, the man with half of his face covered in bandages stepped forward until he was standing in front of the Hokage's desk.

"As Hokage, dedicating your valuable time to giving lessons like an academy teacher is just a waste. How long will you continue with this, Hiruzen?"

At the attempted reprimand, Hiruzen scoffed.

"How I manage my time or not is not something you have a say in, now if you're not here for something important, I would advise you to leave, after all, my valuable time should be dedicated to things that matter."

In the past, his relationship with Danzo had been more friendly, more harmonious, but recently that relationship had soured for a particular reason.

Unaffected by the biting comment, Danzo continued.

"I heard the boy defeated Anko, an exceptional feat considering his young age. Geniuses like him deserve more than just private lessons. They deserve—"

"Get to the point already," Hiruzen cut him off before he could continue his speech. The man's visible eye narrowed slightly, but without missing a beat, he pressed on.

"What I mean is that we're just wasting his time by sending him to the academy. With the change in regulations and the new minimum age limit for graduation, we'll have a more-than-capable shinobi stuck within our walls for no reason. That boy deserves more than that. He needs real training that can unlock all his potential to serve the village as a proper Konoha ninja."

The room fell silent for a moment before Hiruzen spoke again.

"And let me guess, the Foundation can give him all of that, right?" Danzo nodded, and the Hokage sighed. Then, he suddenly opened his eyes, unleashing an intense sharpness from them as his chakra flared to life, beginning to exert an invisible pressure on the environment, causing everything in the room to start trembling.

Danzo frowned as he felt the weight on his shoulders increase suddenly, his knees nearly buckling. With his one eye, he looked seriously at Hiruzen, who wore a deadly expression on his face.

"I thought we had already made this clear, Danzo. Sukuna will go to the academy, he will graduate at the minimum required age, and he will have a team with a teacher and comrades like all the other kids his age. No matter how much of a 'genius' he is or how skilled he becomes, this will not change!"

"You...!" Danzo growled through clenched teeth, then shook his hand, making the pressure on him disappear. Hiruzen also calmed his chakra and relaxed in his seat.

"The war is over, Danzo. The practices and methods used during those times are no longer necessary in this era of peace that we worked so hard to achieve. Remember why the First Hokage founded Konoha—continuing to allow children so young to become ninja is only dishonoring their memory."

Hearing this, Danzo scoffed inwardly, though his outward expression remained unchanged. He then turned and began to leave.

"You may think you're being kind to him, but your actions are only dragging his potential down. Don't say I didn't warn you." Leaving those final words behind, Danzo exited the Hokage's office.

Hiruzen shook his head and sighed again, feeling his shoulders slump. How had things gotten to this point? Where had their paths diverged so much? These questions had been on his mind for a long time, with no answer in sight.

'Maybe it's time I do something about him…' Until now, he had allowed Danzo to act freely due to the turmoil the village had been facing since the death of the Fourth Hokage. However, it had become obvious to him that his old colleague had started to act behind his back more frequently these days. He knew this but hadn't stopped him because he thought it was necessary—or at least, he had believed it was necessary. Now, he wasn't so sure about that.

'I'll deal with it later.' Looking at the stack of papers on his desk, Hiruzen decided to postpone it for now. With his recent warning, Danzo would surely understand that he wouldn't remain as indulgent as before.

He had no idea how wrong he was.

"What the hell happened to you!?" Naruko's shout made Sukuna grimace. The girl ran towards him, looking him up and down with clear concern in her eyes, which was understandable since he had forgotten to get rid of the bandages and heal his wounds before meeting her at their usual spot.

"Stop it! I'm fine," Sukuna finally got fed up and, with a quick motion, flicked his finger against her forehead, making her stumble back several steps.

"Hey!"

Naruko pouted, holding her forehead, but seeing him act like he always did, she relaxed. He didn't seem really hurt beyond being all bandaged up.

Still, she wasn't one to back down easily, and she wasn't going to let the matter drop just like that.

"Did you fight someone? Who was it?"

"Huh? Why do you want to know that?" At his question, she confidently pointed at herself, a toothy grin growing on her face.

"because I'll beat the shit out of them" No one hurt her only friend and got away with it.

Hearing her, Sukuna scoffed, making her frown and lose a bit of her confidence.

"I'll tell you what, if you can hit me, maybe I'll tell you," Sukuna smiled provocatively, making her eyes widen slightly.

"But…" Naruko hesitated. Normally, she would've jumped at the chance to train with him, but seeing his current state, she couldn't help but waver.

Seeing her doubt, Sukuna sighed and added something else.

"And I'll buy you all the ramen you can eat for an entire week."

At that, any hesitation in the girl's eyes disappeared, and in a flash, she lunged forward with all her might, ready to win this battle at any cost.

Sukuna saw her coming, but unlike his other fights, he didn't take a combat stance. He simply stood there, extending a hand and easily blocking the first incoming strike.

Then, almost like a whirlwind, Naruko unleashed dozens of punches and kicks against him, all of which were blocked and countered by Sukuna with just one hand, without him taking a single step back from his original position.

"Damn it!" Naruko gritted her teeth as she felt a fist connect with her gut, sending her flying backward.

A hit like that would have made a regular ninja vomit their lunch and collapse to their knees, but the girl's vitality was so strong that she merely grimaced before getting back up and charging forward again with even more intensity than before.

Sukuna smiled at her fighting spirit and allowed her to make a dozen more moves before ending the fight with a quick strike that sent Naruko crashing straight into the ground.

"Fuck!" She spat out dirt and got up, ready to continue, but Sukuna quickly stopped her.

"That's enough. There's no point in continuing this fight since the difference between us is clear."

"But!" Naruko tried to protest, but Sukuna shook his head.

"I've seen everything I needed to. You're improving, but it's clear to me that you need more than just training with me if you want to keep progressing." Hearing this, she frowned.

"What do you mean by that?"

"You lack experience. Just training with me is conditioning you—I can see it in the way you fight. You're adapting to fighting me, but not all ninjas fight like I do, and that's dangerous." Sukuna actually had to be quite soft with her, often limiting the types of moves he used to avoid seriously hurting her.

For teaching her the basics, that kind of practice was fine, but for her to gain the experience of a real battle, she needed a sparring partner of equal level or at least someone as close as possible.

Naruko thought about his words, frowning. She could understand what he meant to some extent, but that didn't mean she liked it.

"So what do you want me to do? You're the only one who wants to be near me," her voice trailed off slightly, and Sukuna sighed, approaching her and ruffling her hair to reassure her.

"Well, that might not be entirely true. How about I get you a new friend?"

"Huh?" Naruko, who had been enjoying his hand rubbing her head, took a second to process his words.

But before she could ask what he meant, Sukuna vanished in a blur, and in the next instant, he reappeared—only this time, someone else was with him.

Eyes as white as the moon looked at Naruko's face with confusion and surprise.

"E-Eh!!?"

Then, the entire body of the girl who had suddenly appeared alongside Sukuna began to tremble, and for a moment, Naruko thought she saw white smoke rising from her head while her pale skin flushed bright red.

To her credit, the Hyuga girl didn't faint as Sukuna had expected, but she did tremble nervously while staring at the ground.

"Hmmm… I think I know you?" Naruko squinted her eyes, looking at Hinata, until something clicked in her mind.

"Aha! Now I remember—you're that weak girl from the Hyuga clan!" It had been several months, but she could recall her because of those eyes of hers, which had seemed pretty cool to her.

The girl in question appeared to suffer a critical blow from Naruko's words, as she stumbled backward. She wanted to say something in her defense, but the words failed to come out.

Seeing her act like that, Sukuna stepped forward and simply placed his hand on her head, absorbing some of the negativity within her. After all, his plan would be useless if the girl was so nervous that she couldn't even speak.

'Oh?' Hinata blinked in confusion as she felt the warm hand that rested on her, gently ruffling her dark hair. Suddenly, it was as if her fears and doubts vanished, and all the nervousness she had been feeling disappeared into thin air. Her body stopped trembling, and her face returned to its previous pale tone, with only a slight blush on her cheeks.

"Come on, Naruko, be nice. After all, she'll be your new training partner." Upon hearing this, both girls suddenly looked at him in shock.

"What?!"

"E-Eh?!"

Sukuna smiled as he saw the surprise on their faces. Initially, he hadn't planned to do this so soon. Of course, the idea had been in his head ever since the girl started following Naruko, but he thought it might be better to wait until they formally met at the academy. However, those plans changed because now he'd be a bit busy teaching Izumi The Simple domain technique, and he needed someone to keep Naruko entertained in the meantime.

And besides, making more friends would do the blonde girl good.

"why don't you introduce yourself? You probably already know our names, but we don't know yours." Hinata looked at Sukuna in confusion, who seemed overly kind. After all, she had been secretly observing Naruko and him for a while and knew how 'rough' the pink-haired boy could be when dealing with others.

She wasn't the only one who noticed. Naruko also raised an eyebrow in confusion at his 'unnatural' behavior.

Seeing their suspicious looks, Sukuna sighed. Contrary to what others might think, he knew when to be 'nice,' alright?

Besides, he didn't want to scare off Hinata and lose a potential training partner for his walking nuclear weapon.

Finding another wouldn't be so easy.

Even so, he quickly dropped the act and returned to his usual self, as it seemed pretty pointless to keep pretending, considering how long Hinata had been spying on them.

"Your name, now." Seeing him narrow his gaze at her, Hinata trembled slightly and quickly introduced herself, bowing respectfully to both.

"M-my name is Hinata Hyuga. N-nice to meet you."

Naruko raised an eyebrow at her stammering, confused by the whole situation, but having received some basic manners from Sukuna, she introduced herself as well.

"Uzumaki Naruko." Although Hinata already knew her name, hearing her introduce herself directly still made her happy. After all, she had been following the girl to get closer to her but never found the opportunity or courage to try.

Today, she had simply come to observe her and Sukuna, like all the other days, not expecting to be dragged out of her hiding spot. Though she knew Sukuna was strong, it seemed she had underestimated him, or maybe she just wasn't as good at hiding as she thought?

As negative emotions began to rise within her again, Sukuna sighed and placed his hand on her head once more.

"Alright, how about we have a chat? It seems like we need to clear some things up."

Explaining it would be annoying, but he needed to get them on the same page and clarify the situation before going off to do his own thing.

"So, you've been spying on me this whole time!?" At the almost shrill scream, Hinata shrank into herself, trying to make herself as small as possible, while her gaze dropped to the floor, tears threatening to fall from her eyes and shame beginning to consume her.

"That's incredible! I didn't even notice," though also a bit creepy... Naruko managed to keep that last part to herself as she noticed how the black-haired girl seemed almost on the verge of bursting into tears.

Such words made the Hyuga raise her head in surprise.

"You shouldn't be happy about that!" Sukuna sighed. "Though, to be fair, it's not entirely your fault—she's very good at hiding." He didn't say it as a hollow compliment to make Hinata feel better; the truth was, Naruko had quite good perception, something Sukuna had noticed from the first moment they met, and the fact that Hinata could bypass that was her own little achievement.

Not being reprimanded or scolded and instead receiving some praise, Hinata didn't know how to handle it properly. Of course, she felt happy, while at the same time somewhat guilty for going behind their backs.

"I-I'm sorry."

Huh? Hearing the girl's whisper, Naruko raised an eyebrow. Then she approached her and gave her a pat on the back with a smile, catching her off guard.

"Don't worry, maybe you've got something good in you after all," and that comment was like another critical hit that almost made her stumble.

"I told you to be nice," with a swift flick of his finger, Sukuna tapped Naruko on the forehead, making her wince. Then she noticed the devastated look on Hinata's face and quickly, though reluctantly, apologized.

"Sorry..."

"Anyway, getting back to the point, I had no intention of intervening in this espionage matter, but something has recently come up that will keep me a bit busy, and I thought I might as well have you two meet so you can train together."

'Something came up?' Naruko narrowed her eyes with clear curiosity, but Sukuna didn't explain further, and she knew he wouldn't tell her even if she begged him to, especially not with someone else around. So, she'd probably have to wait until they were alone again. With that in mind, she temporarily shifted her attention to Hinata.

'Train with this girl?' Feeling Naruko's sharp gaze, the Hyuga shuddered slightly.

"And well, what do you say? Surely you've learned some things from all this time watching us, so you know this will be very useful for you as well. I know Naruko can be a bit rough, but I know you'll learn a lot from each other if you give it a try."

"I-I..." Hinata bit her lip. He was right. Even if indirectly, she had learned many things by watching them train together. But... was that really enough? Did she even deserve more? Was she truly worthy of being a training partner for Naruko? The blonde girl was clearly stronger and more skilled. Could she really be of any use?

Seeing the doubt and indecision in her, Sukuna sighed and decided he needed to be more direct, or this would drag on all day.

"Hey, lift your head." The hard voice made the girl flinch, pulling her out of the spiral of depressing thoughts she had been sinking into, and without being able to help it, she obeyed, only to meet a pair of green eyes staring at her seriously.

"I've heard some of the things the Hyuga clan members say about you. Honestly, I don't care much, but... do you really want to remain so weak?" The blunt question made her eyes widen and her fists clench.

Without being able to stop it, memories and images from the past flooded her mind—every failed training, every disappointed look from her father, from the members of her clan...

She didn't want to be weak.

Seeing that "fire" of will ignite in her eyes, Sukuna smiled. It would have been a complete waste of time if she didn't have even a hint of courage inside her. However, it seemed that even someone as shy and withdrawn still harbored a spark of determination, even if it was hard to bring to light.

For now.

"An opportunity like this doesn't come around often, and not everyone will offer it to you. So, I want you to answer me directly: do you want to be strong?"

An opportunity... Hinata clenched her teeth. The doubt and fear were still there, of course, but at the same time, there was a greater desire as well—a desire to change. And for the first time in a long while, she was able to speak without her voice trembling.

"Yes!"

.

.

.

Later, almost at dusk, at the same training camp.

'That should keep her occupied for now,' Sukuna, sitting cross-legged on a massive rock, gazed at the empty training field, reflecting on what had transpired during the day.

He hadn't left the two girls alone right away. Instead, he stayed until Hinata had to return to her clan, guiding them on how they could train together when he wasn't around. If he had left them alone from the start, he feared they would waste time and fail to make the expected progress. That would be a harsh blow for the Hyuga girl and a hit to his own reputation. After all, he had made her the offer, and in a sense, it was his responsibility to turn her into someone strong.

It was annoying, but he always kept his promises, no matter what they were, and this time wouldn't be an exception.

'I can take two or three hours a day to check their progress and correct them if they're doing something wrong.' Teaching Izumi shouldn't take too long—she was a genius, after all. The only thing she needed was for him to properly teach her how to use the Simple Domain.

And he already had a more solid idea of how to do that; he'd been thinking about it all day, after all. Now, he just needed to refine it and get a guinea pig to help him test it. Of course, that guinea pig would be Izumi.

Thinking about her brought his thoughts to that strange phenomenon that occurred while they were fighting. Under normal circumstances, he could assume it happened because of his ability to absorb negative emotions, but if he took Izumi's words as truth, this phenomenon had already happened to other ninjas.

Therefore, he could only assume it had something to do with chakra itself. Additionally, there were some vague memories in his mind that made all of this feel somewhat familiar. It was frustrating not being able to recall everything, but it couldn't be helped—he had only watched Naruto once in his life, and it was natural that over time, many details had faded from his memory.

Maybe he could try to recover it all. One thing he remembered was that the Yamanaka clan had a mind-reading jutsu or something like that. He needed to gather more information on it, though getting it would, of course, be a challenge in itself. And letting someone else delve into his memories without any restrictions wasn't something he was willing to allow, which was another problem to deal with.

'For now, it's not that important. I'll investigate it later.' He still had plenty of time to consider it.

While he continued meditating, the sound of the air being sliced made his ears twitch.

'Finally came out, huh?'

With a swift movement of his hand, a shuriken flew through the air, intercepting the kunai headed his way. The clash of metal on metal sent sparks flying, briefly illuminating the area.

"Tch! Always on guard, huh?"

Sukuna raised an eyebrow, glancing toward a tall tree not too far away, where Anko stood perched on one of the branches.

Her usual ninja attire was absent, replaced by more casual clothing: a light brown padded jacket, dark blue shorts, and a black shirt. Her ninja headband hung loosely around her neck in a casual manner.

It seemed like she had mostly recovered from their fight, though there was still a bandage on her left cheek.

He remembered landing a solid hit there.

Huh? His nose twitched as an unfamiliar yet strangely familiar scent reached his nostrils, making his stomach churn slightly.

His eyes focused on Anko's right hand, where a half-eaten skewer of dango rested. For some reason, he couldn't help but want some, despite never having tried them before.

Noticing his gaze and hearing a low rumble from his stomach, Anko raised an eyebrow and glanced at her right hand. With a playful grin, she began waving the skewer back and forth mockingly.

"What's the matter? Want some? Well, too bad for you because this is the last one—the shop's already closed!" And as if to annoy him even further, she took another small bite from one of the dango balls.

Sukuna stayed silent for a moment before smirking.

"Idiot, when I want something, I just take it!" As soon as his words fell, his figure exploded into a cloud of smoke.

"What?!" Anko's eyes widened in alarm, but before she could react, she felt the sole of a foot collide with her rear, sending her flying straight to the ground.

"¡Uff!"

Sukuna snorted and sat on her, now holding the dango skewer in his hand.

"Hey! That's mine!" Anko complained when she felt her hand now empty and tried to struggle to get up, without any success. She could only turn her head to see how Sukuna looked at the skewer with curiosity.

"You should thank me, eating something like this will only make your weight keep going up, I'm just protecting your health." With that said, Sukuna didn't care whether she agreed or not and immediately started eating the remaining dango.

It tasted pretty good.

"Y-y-y-you!"

"Huh?" Sukuna looked in confusion as Anko's face suddenly turned red. Then, a wicked smile appeared on his face, and he continued chewing the dango mockingly.

"It seems you're still an innocent lady if something like this makes you so nervous. It's amusing, but you're still too young for me. Come back when you have some curves to show; otherwise, I'm not interested at all."

"You b-bastard, what do you mean by that?!" Anko felt very offended without knowing why.

"I won't repeat myself. Now then, tell me, what are you doing here?"

Anko struggled a bit more but finally gave in and spoke, though with some reluctance.

"Ugh! I just passed by and thought about bothering you. After all, it's your fault I'm on medical leave and have nothing to do!"

Sukuna was about to ask if she didn't have family or friends to hang out with or annoy, but he quickly remembered who he was talking to and wisely kept his mouth shut.

"Whatever, get yourself a hobby or something. I'm a bit busy right now." In any other circumstance, he wouldn't have minded "playing" with her a little, that is, using her as a punching bag, but at the moment, he couldn't.

"Seriously? It seemed to me like you were just wasting time sitting there. Besides! You took my dango, so now you owe me!"

"The law of the strongest dictates that the winner keeps everything the loser has. Since I'm clearly stronger than you, I can take whatever I want from you. If you have a problem with that, then get stronger and take it back." Of course, even though he followed this philosophy to a lesser extent, Sukuna wasn't a tyrannical barbarian like the real Sukuna. Otherwise, he wouldn't be playing the "genius" in Konoha.

He believed that real strength didn't always lie in brutality but in the intelligent manipulation of situations. In his own way, he enjoyed the power he had, but he used it as a game, a strategic dance where his opponents barely noticed how they were falling into his trap until it was too late.

It wasn't just about taking what he wanted; it was about making others offer it to him willingly and with a smile on their faces… or at least that's how it was in his life as Itadori. After all, when you lacked strength, you had to compensate for it with cunning, strategy, and manipulation, all with the aim of achieving your objectives at any cost.

In this life, he already had strength—maybe not the greatest, but certainly enough that he didn't have to exhaust his mind the way he used to, which in a way made things more relaxing for him, yet also frustrating.

His plans were all over the place. He had so many possible paths to take that he truly didn't know which one to choose. He could change everything, destroy everything, or... save it? That last thought made him frown.

It seemed that strange phenomenon with chakra had affected him more than he thought if something like that was actually crossing his mind.

Playing the savior never ended well, and he knew that firsthand.

"Law of the strongest? Alright, just wait, Brat! I'll beat you up and make you buy me dango for the rest of your life!" Anko finally managed to gather the strength to pull the distracted Sukuna off her back and stood up, pointing a threatening finger at him.

"For the rest of my life, you say?..." Sukuna brought a hand to his chin, pretending to be thoughtful. "I didn't know you were so desperate to secure me forever. Girls sure are forward these days, huh?"

"Ugh!" Anko's face turned beet red. She wanted to deny it, but seeing the mockery and malice in his eyes, she knew he was just playing with her to get under her skin.

With a huff, she stormed out of the clearing, muttering under her breath.

"Just wait goddamn gum head, I'll make you pay for this!"

Sukuna snorted as he watched her figure disappear. It was so easy to get rid of her. Shaking his head, he looked up at the starry sky before a serious expression appeared on his face.

"How much longer are you going to stay there? If you want to say something, then say it."

In response to his words, a figure stepped out of the shadows with slow steps.

"An extraordinary perception, as expected from a genius of your caliber."

Sukuna narrowed his eyes. He knew this man.

"You are..."

"You can call me Shimura Danzo, I am one of the main advisors to the Hokage. He has told me a lot about you, young Haruno. I apologize if I'm interrupting your leisure time, but I really wanted to have a conversation with you."

Sukuna mocked internally at his "polite" introduction, but outwardly, he played along.

"Well, I have some free time before I have to head back home, so I'm all ears."

Danzo smiled.

"Perfect, in that case, I would like to discuss your future... I have an offer that might interest you."

That piqued Sukuna's interest slightly. Danzo—this man—although he didn't remember everything about him, Sukuna knew that many of the village's problems had to do with him. At the very least, the Uchiha clan massacre was something that happened thanks to his influence.

Having him around was bad news, but Sukuna wasn't afraid. He didn't know exactly how strong the bandaged man was, but he felt that if it came down to a life-or-death situation, he would still prevail.

After all, if worst came to worst, he could perform an incomplete Domain Expansion. The consequences would be harsh on his body, but he should still be able to endure it by using his reverse cursed technique to the extreme. He was no longer a newborn, and while his current body still left much to be desired, it was still good enough to withstand any potential side effects this might bring him.

Thus, two people with fake smiles had their first encounter.

"So, the rumors are true?" Izumi closed the book in her hands and lifted her head to look at the figure standing on the fence that separated her house's yard from the rest of the Uchiha compound.

"Rumors?" The older boy nodded, jumping down into the yard and walking toward her.

"They say you overdid it with your training and ended up hurting yourself. Well, there were some harsher words than that, but you get the idea."

Of course, when she returned, even though she had treated her injuries, it was still obvious to anyone who looked at her that something had happened. Given the tensions she had generated with some clan members the previous day, it was normal that some rumors spread—rumors that didn't exactly paint her in the best light.

But she really didn't care what they said about her, so she didn't clarify anything. Even her father couldn't get a real answer about her condition, her refusal to speak making it clear that she had no intention of explaining anything.

"So? Is it true?" Seeing her silence, Shisui Uchiha couldn't help but ask with curiosity.

Seeing his intrigue, she considered it for a moment before responding.

"Do you really think I'm that careless?"

"Of course not, I just wanted to make sure. Tell me, did someone bother you? Come on, your older cousin will give them a lesson for you." To emphasize his point, Shisui raised his arm, flexing his nonexistent muscle.

Izumi smiled and shook her head. Despite returning from a mission, Shisui still seemed as energetic as ever.

"It's not that. Something has happened, but I can't say much about it yet." She wanted to keep her future training with Sukuna a secret for now. She didn't know exactly how much trust there was between them, but if she had learned anything from their fight, it was that the pink-haired boy liked to stay under the radar if possible. Shisui was trustworthy to her, but he and Sukuna didn't know each other, so it was best to handle this carefully for the moment.

"Huh?" Shisui blinked. This time, his curiosity was truly piqued, but he didn't dig too deeply. If she said it wasn't anything bad, then it was fine. As long as she didn't get into trouble, he didn't mind.

"Well, anyway, I came to congratulate you on your promotion. Becoming a chunin at such a young age is quite the achievement, you know?" With that said, Shisui took out a package wrapped in napkins and extended it to her.

"A girl with purple hair bought almost all the stock, but I managed to get some before the store closed. Enjoy them."

Izumi's eyes lit up when Shisui revealed the contents of the package.

"Thanks," she sincerely thanked him, and without hesitation, took the skewers with three balls of different colors on them and began to eat them quickly. After all, dango was her favorite food.

Note:

And another chapter! What might have happened between Sukuna and Danzo? What are the man's intentions? What changes will this bring? I guess we'll find out in the following chapters, hahaha. Remember to leave your comments and suggestions, as well as critiques—everything is welcome.

In other news, the Ranma remake is out! If you're a fan like me, I recommend it. It's not exactly the same as the old anime, but it has some interesting things going on. One day, I hope to create a story set in that universe—it will surely be fun.

On the other hand, I've also been watching all the hype around Sparking Zero. Unfortunately, I don't have a console to play it, and my PC can't run it, so I can only watch from the sidelines while everyone else enjoys it. I hope to fix that soon, although I'm still debating it—I don't want to get addicted like I did with Budokai Tenkaichi 3 back in the day.

Anyway, now that Daima exists and there's much more lore about Dragon Ball, the desire to create a story in that universe has also grown. I don't think it will happen soon, but it's good to know that there's a lot more to explore when the time comes. I hope Daima brings more interesting things. By the way, Dr. Arinsu, 100% waifu.

I don't have much else to say besides that, so feel free to comment on your thoughts, suggestions, or criticisms—everything is welcome. Thank you so much for the support,.

12: Deal
12: Deal

Izumi adjusted the ninja headband on her forehead, patted her shinobi tool pouches to check that everything was where it should be, and then nodded with satisfaction—she was ready.

Three agreed days had already passed since her fight with Sukuna, and her body had almost fully recovered thanks to the benefits of chakra and the Uchiha clan's medical remedies.

For an ordinary person, injuries of the magnitude she'd received during that battle would have required months of bed rest. For ninjas, however, all it took was basic medical treatment, adequate rest, and the use of their chakra to recover in record time and be ready to resume their shinobi duties within just a few days.

It was not for nothing that they were feared in this world as the fiercest soldiers and assassins that exist; their resilience and recovery ability should not be underestimated.

"Onee-san?" The somewhat sleepy voice of her younger sister made Izumi pause her departure for a moment. Turning, she saw the girl coming out of her room, rubbing her eyes with clear lingering drowsiness; after all, the sun had not yet risen.

Had she made too much noise while getting ready? She hadn't expected to wake her.

"You should go back to bed; it's still too early for you to be awake, Satsuki."

"Where are you going? Aren't we going to train today, too?" Satsuki didn't go back to bed right away; instead, she looked at her sister, dressed and ready, with a frown and a hint of worry in her eyes. Her sister had just recovered—was she really going back to her ninja duties so soon?

For the girl, these three days of having her sister at home had been fantastic. She seemed to be in a much more pleasant mood than usual, even giving brief warm smiles from time to time and willing to practice with her, something she appreciated a lot even if it was only verbal advice due to her injuries.

She hoped this would last longer. With the start of the ninja academy just a few months away, she wanted to make her family proud by getting the best grades at the beginning of the school year, and what better way to achieve that than by having her own sister train her?

But it seemed that little fantasy was about to be ruined. Satsuki knew that once her sister started going on missions again, the time she could spend with her would be greatly reduced. That had been the case ever since Izumi became a genin, where even days would pass without her hearing anything from her.

Now that she was a chunin, didn't that mean she'd spend even less time at home?

She didn't like it at all.

Seeing the irritation in her gaze, Izumi smiled slightly and gestured with her hand to catch her attention. The younger Uchiha snapped out of her thoughts at this and, with quick steps, hurried towards her older sister.

Her rush came to an abrupt stop when a pair of slim, agile fingers suddenly flicked her forehead, almost making her stumble backward.

"Sorry, Satsuki. I've got things to take care of. I promise we'll do it next time, okay?"

"But onee-san!" She couldn't help but pout as she rubbed her forehead in annoyance.

In the end, Satsuki couldn't get her sister to stay any longer and could only watch as she left the house toward an unknown destination.

.

.

.

Not long after leaving the Uchiha clan complex, Izumi headed to the place where she had fought Sukuna. The still-dark sky made her wonder if maybe it was too early. Sukuna had told her "first thing in the morning," and for the Uchiha girl, that meant before the first ray of sunlight touched the horizon. But for the younger boy, it could very well mean something else.

However, the doubt about whether she was too early quickly faded when she reached her destination. The place was still somewhat disheveled, with signs of their fight scattered here and there, but what caught her attention was the boy sitting cross-legged on a large rock in the center of the area.

"You're early, but I'm not complaining. I don't like waiting either," Sukuna said, standing up and jumping to the ground to stand in front of her.

"Punctuality is important," Izumi responded naturally. As a member of a traditional clan like the Uchiha clan, even if she wasn't on the best terms with them at the moment, the education they instilled in her from a young age as the clan head's eldest daughter was still somewhat ingrained in her, with punctuality being one of those things.

"Well, since we're both here, let's not beat around the bush. I want to see how much control you have over your yin energy." Sukuna knew that, as a member of the Uchiha clan, Izumi should have greater control over spiritual energy than the average person. After all, that clan had an innate predisposition to the yin element due to their dōjutsu, making it natural for most of its members to practice abilities like genjutsu to a higher degree than other ninjas.

"What do you want me to do?" she asked, unsure of how exactly to demonstrate her control, and Sukuna responded, having already thought about it beforehand.

"Hit me with the strongest concentration of yin energy you can, as if you were trying to trap me in a genjutsu with all your strength."

"Isn't genjutsu useless against you?" Izumi couldn't help but ask, recalling this fact. She was very curious about why genjutsu seemed ineffective against Sukuna.

"Useless or not, I can still see the yin energy used in a genjutsu, and that's all I need." Sukuna, of course, didn't explain too much—he was here to teach, not to reveal his secrets.

"Very well." Deciding not to argue further about it, Izumi focused, closed her eyes, and formed a hand seal to help her reinforce her concentration. Normally, she didn't need to make such gestures, as genjutsu was one of her specialties, and under normal circumstances, a simple glance or small movement was enough to trap her opponent in an illusion, without the need for hand seals. However, that didn't mean they were useless; in fact, hand seals helped ninjas increase control and stability when manipulating chakra, or in this case, pure yin energy.

Seeing her begin to prepare and sensing how the surrounding atmosphere was affected by the elevation of her chakra, Sukuna grew serious and paid full attention to how Izumi's spiritual energy began to rise, eventually flowing out of her body in a great wave that tried with all its might to reach him, seeking to enter his body and alter his perception of reality.

Normally, a ninja wouldn't be able to see spiritual energy on its own unless it was mixed with physical energy to create chakra, which was visible to anyone when unleashed in large and concentrated amounts outside the body. But for Sukuna, seeing Izumi's spiritual energy was as clear as seeing chakra itself.

That's why he easily prevented it from entering his body by flexing his own chakra within him, simply letting it clash against his exterior.

"Alright, that's enough." With his words, Izumi exhaled deeply and withdrew all her yin energy back into her body, a drop of sweat falling from her forehead from the effort.

"Your control is better than I expected. That'll make things easier for us—maybe it'll even take less time than I thought." Sukuna hadn't been able to gauge Izumi's control over yin energy before, since from the beginning of their fight, he had made it clear that her genjutsu was useless against him, so she had stopped trying to use it. But now, with this demonstration, he could see what he was working with and give his evaluation.

Hearing him, Izumi nodded with satisfaction; the faster she could master this new jutsu, the better. After all, she hadn't forgotten that she was now a chunin and would soon need to start accepting missions, or that the Hokage himself could assign her missions at any time. Therefore, the amount of free time she would have in the coming days was still something she couldn't calculate exactly until she became fully accustomed to her new ninja rank.

Of course, it wasn't that she was against this. In the end, if she wanted to keep progressing toward her goal, she needed to become a jounin as quickly as possible. That way, her ability to influence and mediate between her clan and the village would be greater.

Thinking about this and with Sukuna's words in mind, she couldn't help but speak, a slight hesitation in her voice.

"If you really think it'll take less time, then... maybe you could teach me something else too?"

"Oh? Wow, you're really a greedy girl, aren't you? I offer you a branch, and instead, you want the whole tree. How bold," Sukuna snorted with amusement. Izumi's face flushed slightly at his words, but she didn't back down so easily.

Power, that was what she needed most if she wanted the ability to influence as she sought. Only by having enough power could she make the clan back down, make the village safer, and change the world.

So far, she had learned all the jutsus available in the village, except, for obvious reasons, those that were forbidden. She had even stolen jutsus and techniques from other villages thanks to her Sharingan when she faced other ninjas on missions.

Her chakra control had also advanced to the point of being almost perfect, and her mastery of her main element, fire, was also at its peak.

Her mastery of the Sharingan wasn't lacking either. Currently, there wasn't much she could improve on besides letting time do its work on her body and waiting for maturity to increase her physical attributes as well as her natural chakra reserves.

To put it in simple terms, she had hit a bottleneck where her strength was stagnating until she could achieve a breakthrough in some area, and she hadn't known how to overcome it until she met and fought against Sukuna.

With simple mastery, she could easily surpass any possible dōjutsu user besides the Uchiha, at least if what Sukuna said about the jutsu also working with the Byakugan was true—and she had no reason to doubt his word on that.

But such a jutsu alone wasn't enough to break the stagnation she was in. Sure, it would give her an advantage against certain types of enemies, but not against all of her potential enemies.

If she wanted to take another step in her strength, she needed something more significant to increase her overall power.

"When we fought, I noticed how your physical abilities increased significantly after you activated the simple domain. I'd like to learn how you did it." In her calculation, Sukuna had become at least four times stronger, faster, and more resilient.

Something like that was exactly what she had been searching for to break the stagnation she found herself in. She hadn't had a defined specialty until now, unlike other ninjas who focused their skills in a specific area. She was basically good at everything but excellent at nothing.

She had considered perfecting her path in genjutsu even further, but her encounter with Sukuna made her doubt that choice. Genjutsu was good, but when facing an opponent who could completely ignore it, it became practically useless, like a mirage that could crumble in an instant—it wasn't the real power she sought.

That's why she decided to change her focus and take advantage of the clear opportunity in front of her.

Perhaps before, she wouldn't have thought of specializing in taijutsu, but as an Uchiha, it was still one of her strengths. Combined with the advantages her Sharingan gave her, taking the path of hand-to-hand combat was clearly the logical choice at this point.

At least until a better alternative presented itself.

Seeing her determined gaze, Sukuna stopped smiling and looked at her seriously.

"I don't want you to misunderstand things. Letting you win was simply a courtesy, and teaching you the simple domain is just me keeping my word, but that's all. If you think you can demand more, then you're very mistaken." His anger was palpable in the atmosphere as an invisible pressure caused by his agitated chakra began to permeate the surrounding area.

Izumi felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up, and a chill ran down her spine when she saw the sharp look that suddenly appeared in his eyes. But even so, she didn't back down and held her ground, meeting his gaze directly.

"I'm not demanding anything. I would just like to learn it. If you have any conditions, then tell me."

Sukuna looked at her without saying anything for several seconds, as if in deep contemplation. Then, he snapped his fingers, and a mysterious smile appeared on his face, at the same time the pressure his chakra had been exerting on the area disappeared.

"Maybe I have something in mind, but right now it's too soon to say."

At this, the Uchiha girl frowned.

"If you don't tell me, then how will I know if I'll be able to do it?"

Sukuna simply shrugged.

"You'll know when the time comes; trust me."

Izumi remained silent for a moment before relaxing her posture and nodding with clear resolve in her dark eyes.

"All right, I will trust you." Her acceptance without hesitation made Sukuna raise an eyebrow; he expected more doubt, more questions, but this… He couldn't help but snort. This girl surely thought that because she had seen some glimpses of his thoughts in their previous confrontation, she already knew him or had some kind of strange closeness with him.

Ridiculous.

Even so, he wasn't going to complain. He'd let her think whatever she wanted; it didn't matter as long as she was useful to him in the end.

Besides, it wasn't as if he was worried that Izumi would refuse to fulfill her part when the time came, because what he had in mind would benefit her as well, whether she knew it or not.

"Very well then, we have a deal."

Izumi nodded in agreement with a slight smile at the corner of her lips.

Note:

This chapter took longer to come out than it should have and is a bit shorter than I'd like. I apologize for that. I've been having some issues with my bank for a few days now, and the whole thing has been stressing me out a bit, but I think it's being resolved (probably). I'm still waiting to see what happens, but things are looking good, so for now, I feel relieved.

I feel like there will soon be some small time skips here and there, not too big but just enough to start approaching some interesting events.

Regarding Izumi and taijutsu, as mentioned in the chapter, she doesn't have a specific specialty yet besides being good at everything. Her Sharingan is strong but not a Mangekyo, and there's no Tsukuyomi or Amaterasu in her arsenal (yet). Her fight with Sukuna has made her doubt the capability of genjutsu, and her path, without her knowing it, has strayed from what it would have originally been. Whether it will go better or worse for her, I suppose we'll find out in the future.

And yes, there is no mention of what Sukuna talked about with Danzo in the previous chapter; I suppose we will get to that in the future.

Until then, I wish you good morning, afternoon, or evening, depending on where you are. leave your comments, critiques, and suggestions; you know I appreciate it very much.

13: Shadow Clone
13: Shadow Clone

"Thanks for your purchase!" Sukuna bid the customer farewell, a satisfied smile on his face. Looking at the stack of bills in his hand, he couldn't help but chuckle. Who would have thought he had a knack for sales? Being a merchant would certainly be an interesting career if his original self ever tired of fighting.

But what would he know? He was just a simple shadow clone, handling the tasks that the original couldn't be bothered to do, tasks like helping his parents with the family business. Not that he was complaining, of course; in fact, he enjoyed doing things like this. The part that made up his temporary being seemed to be less dark and depressed than his original self, which allowed him to enjoy the simple things more than the other guy.

Seriously, he should chill out and learn from him—there was way more satisfaction in making money than in constantly looking to get his ass kicked.

With a smooth flick of his hand, he stashed the bills in the cash register and waited patiently with a smile for the next kind soul who would help his fortune grow even more.

But before that happened, his mother burst through the door, making the pink-haired boy raise an eyebrow at her sudden entrance. Had something happened?

"There you are! Come on, Sukuna-chan! It's time to greet our new neighbor!" Huh? Sukuna blinked, but before he could react, he found himself being dragged off by an excited Mebuki.

Before leaving, he didn't forget to place the "Closed" sign in front of the shop door. It'd be really bad if someone wandered in and stole something while they were gone—that was "his" money, damn it!

Fortunately, once outside, he managed to escape his mother's grip and walked beside her like a normal person. After all, it would seriously damage his reputation if someone he knew saw him being led around by the hand like a little kid.

"Anyway, who's this new neighbor you're talking about?" he couldn't help but ask, his danger sense kicking in. If it was another store, it could mean a threat to his finances. In the new commercial district, founded after the Nine-Tails destroyed the previous one, his parents' business was among the most prosperous.

But that could change if a new rival store came in to shake things up.

"It's the Yamanaka clan—they've finally decided to reopen their flower shop."

And so, all the corporate sabotage plans Sukuna had started thinking up were tossed aside. A flower shop? That wasn't even competition; he'd just been worrying for nothing.

"Eh, the Yamanaka clan?"

Mebuki nodded and started talking about them without him even asking. It seemed his mother was a born gossip; even if he stayed quiet, she always found a way to tell him a lot of things.

"A few years ago, the Yamanaka clan had a big flower business, but the Nine-Tails attack that destroyed the whole old commercial district made them lose it. I'm not too sure what happened after, but it seems they finally decided to come back," Mebuki said, lowering her voice when she mentioned the Nine-Tails. Maybe other parents would be a bit careful about bringing up that topic with their kids, but those parents didn't have a genius like her son. As far as she was concerned, her son was mature enough to know details like these.

As for Sukuna, he didn't have to think too hard to get an idea of what might have happened. After all, the village had lost many shinobi when the Nine-Tails attacked, and as a ninja clan, the Yamanakas probably had to help reinforce the ranks, meaning they probably didn't have time to get back to business until now, or something like that. Of course, this was just his guess—whether it was true or not, he'd find out later if necessary.

Soon, the two of them arrived in front of the new shop, which was only a few stores down from their own. There was already quite a crowd there, making for a lively atmosphere. In the end, even though several years had passed, the Yamanaka clan's flower business was still something famous in the village, so it was only natural that its reopening would attract the villagers' attention.

'Looks like there'll be another popular business around here,' Sukuna thought as he looked at the place. Soon, mother and son managed to get inside, and almost immediately, Sukuna could sense the presence of several ninjas.

Ninjas wearing aprons, serving customers with smiles on their faces.

Their ages varied, from those who looked old enough to graduate from the academy to those who were just starting to get a few wrinkles. But if there was one thing they all had in common, it was the small amount of chakra he could sense from them.

'Guess even a ninja clan wouldn't waste their truly strong members working in a shop...'

Then why was that guy here? Sukuna wondered to himself, catching a glimpse out of the corner of his eye of a tall man with platinum-blonde hair tied in a ponytail, working the counter alongside a woman with dark brown hair.

Although it was well-controlled, Sukuna could see at a glance the strength and amount of chakra in the man, enough to eclipse the chakra of all the other ninjas present combined.

'An elite jounin without a doubt, and that woman, though not as strong, is still better than the others, maybe a chunin?' Before he could continue thinking about it, his mother took him by the arm and dragged him with her to the counter; Sukuna, of course, let her do so.

"Inoichi-san, Ume-san, it's a pleasure to see you again."

"Oh? Mebuki-san!" The woman named Ume looked at his mother with a cheerful, polite smile. It seemed years had passed since the two women had last seen each other, but that didn't stop them from immediately launching into an intense conversation to catch up.

Sukuna hadn't expected his mother to know people from the Yamanaka clan, but he supposed it wasn't entirely impossible. After all, his parents had been ninjas, and while ninjas often worked in teams, that didn't mean they didn't occasionally go on missions with other ninjas.

The conversation between the two women began to stretch on, and Sukuna couldn't help but start to feel bored. Almost coincidentally, his gaze met that of the blond man, a tacit understanding passing between them—an understanding only men could share, from which great friendships had been forged throughout history.

"...and this is my son, Sukuna," his mother finally seemed to remember his existence, pushing him forward to introduce him.

"Wow, what unique and beautiful hair; it's almost the same shade as cherry blossom petals." Perhaps if he were a girl, Sukuna might have appreciated the compliment, but as a boy, he couldn't help but grumble inwardly.

After all, pink was his least favorite color.

Despite his internal thoughts, Sukuna still introduced himself as was proper, offering a polite bow to the couple.

"Since you've introduced me to your son, I should introduce you to mine as well," Ume said suddenly before lifting her gaze and starting to search around the shop until she found the person she was looking for.

"Ino-chan! Come here!" At her call, a small figure who had been helping arrange the display bouquets veered off her path and, with hurried steps, began to approach them.

Which perhaps wasn't the best idea, considering she was still holding a huge bouquet that blocked her view.

Almost in slow motion, Sukuna noticed how the girl tripped over her own foot and began to fall face-first to the ground, while at the same time the bouquet of flowers flew out of her hands.

Instinctively, he took a step forward—not for the girl, of course, but for the bouquet of flowers. Merchandise was merchandise, after all, and even if it wasn't his, it would be painful to see something that surely cost several hundred ryo get ruined just like that.

Inoichi, who was already halfway there, noticed his movement and abruptly stopped in surprise. Feeling his gaze, Sukuna couldn't help but frown.

'What the hell? Don't you see your daughter's about to kiss the floor? Why are you just standing there?' He sighed inwardly and, with no other option, diverted his path toward the girl first. After all, it would be troublesome to earn the displeasure of the head of one of Konoha's main clans over something as trivial as this.

Ino, who had closed her eyes tightly, bracing for impact, was surprised to feel her position suddenly change and the feeling of weightlessness disappear.

When she opened her eyes, it was to find herself leaning against a stranger.

"Are you alright?" The voice was monotone and almost cold, completely out of tune with the question. Ino blinked, her bluish-green eyes meeting a pair of deep, bright green ones.

The blonde girl nodded awkwardly as she felt her cheeks warm up without knowing why, but before she could speak, she saw the boy stretch his hand to the side, catching the bouquet of flowers she had dropped without even needing to look.

"Be more careful." Then he placed the bouquet back in her hands, and Ino felt her heart skip a beat.

"My, you've got quite a skilled boy, Mebuki-san." Ume's words made Sukuna turn to look at her, only to notice the woman giving him an amused look, with Inoichi beside her, frowning with a cold expression.

'Huh? What's with that? I just saved your daughter, bastard—why do you look like you hate me?' If he had known it would be like this, he would have let her trip.

"Uh- th-thanks." Hearing the murmur, Sukuna raised an eyebrow and looked over at the girl, only to notice her face was now completely red.

Well, this could be a problem...

At the same time, elsewhere in Konoha, in a discreet training field...

Sukuna suddenly felt an urge to hit himself for no apparent reason.

'Has something happened?' He didn't know why, but he suddenly sensed that something troublesome awaited him. Even so, he couldn't dwell too much on that thought, as the sound of a body rolling across the ground pulled him back to reality.

In front of him, Hinata, who had taken a direct hit from Naruko, writhed on the ground, clutching her stomach and starting to cough hard.

"Are you alright!?" Naruko asked in alarm upon seeing her condition, but before she could approach, Sukuna raised his hand and shook his head.

The message he conveyed with a simple look was clear to the blonde: 'Let her get up on her own.'

Naruko frowned but eventually stayed in place, watching Hinata, who was clumsily trying to stand up.

The girl was trembling all over; clearly, the hit had done serious damage. Sukuna wasn't surprised—Naruko had more strength than she appeared to have at first glance. He didn't know if it was because of the Kyubi inside her or her Uzumaki heritage, but underestimating her attack power would only lead to pain, as Hinata had just learned.

Hinata, for her part, felt like she was going to vomit everything in her stomach. It had been several days since she started training with Naruko and Sukuna, but this was the first time she and the blonde had had a true direct match, and the first time she'd taken one of her punches fully.

'It... it hurts more than Neji-nii-san's hits.' Realizing this was a huge shock and surprise for her, because, in her limited worldview, her cousin Neji had always been the "strongest."

'She's... amazing.' At the same time her admiration for Naruko grew even more, and, as a result, so did her admiration for Sukuna, whom she had seen take the blonde's hits by the dozens casually and without flinching whenever they practiced together.

"Can you still continue?" Sukuna's question made her shudder. Gritting her teeth, she forced herself to stand fully once more and, with some difficulty, resumed the Hyuga clan's taijutsu stance.

"Y-yes!" She couldn't stop now; she had said she wanted this, that she wanted to be strong. If she gave up now, what would Naruko or Sukuna think? She didn't want to see the same look of disappointment her father gave her on their faces.

She didn't want to fail again.

Seeing her determined gaze, Naruko smiled. Although she hadn't thought too highly of the Hyuga girl at first, these days of practicing together had slowly but surely changed her opinion of her.

Sure, she was still weak, clumsy, and excessively shy, but she knew how to work hard and never give up, and in Naruko's book, that was all it took to earn her respect.

And most of all, to earn her friendship.

"in that case, continue," Sukuna waited a few moments more to let Hinata catch her breath but finally gave the order for the fight to resume.

And upon hearing him, Hinata, who had been passive until now, finally took a step forward first. Seeing this, Naruko raised an eyebrow in surprise and decided to wait for her to come closer; so far, Hinata had only been defending herself and not attacking. She was curious to see what Hyuga taijutsu was like and if it was as dangerous as Sukuna had told her when he talked about the clans that make up the village.

Soon, both of them were face-to-face and began an exchange. Although Hinata wasn't as skilled in Jūken as her cousin was, she was still the heiress of the Hyuga clan, and her level was still above other members of the clan of a similar age.

Naruko was quickly forced onto the defensive.

'She's very agile,' was the girl's thought as she watched how Hinata flowed like water with each movement she made. This time, she seemed determined and had stopped hesitating as she had at the beginning of their encounter.

'Still, her strikes don't seem strong.' Hinata attacked with her fingertips, her palms open; Naruko had never seen this style of striking before, so she couldn't help but underestimate it—after all, in her perception, a true strike was done with a closed fist.

Because of that, she didn't put her full effort into dodging as she should have and paid for it when Hinata reached her left shoulder and a stab of pain shot through her entire body in an instant, causing her movement to stop for a second.

'Now!' Knowing that this might be the only opportunity she would have, Hinata decided to press forward, and in an instant, her palms rained down on the blonde girl's body by the dozens.

Although her Byakugan wasn't activated, Jūken had been designed to attack the pressure points in the human body—maybe not with millimeter precision as it would be with the dojutsu active, but close enough that each of her attacks was extremely damaging.

'Damn! This hurts!' Naruko cursed herself for being so careless; she shouldn't have let her get that close! Even so, she wasn't going to lose just from feeling some pain. Thinking quickly, she concentrated a large amount of chakra in her feet and then released it suddenly, causing the ground she was standing on to explode and her body to be thrown backward, successfully distancing herself from the Hyuga.

'What!?' Hinata stumbled, surprised by the sudden movement.

"Wow, you really surprised me there, Hinata, but I won't underestimate you again," Naruko said with a fierce smile as she wiped a red line of blood dripping from the corner of her mouth.

Hinata blinked upon hearing her. She didn't know why, but her words sent a warm current through her body, a feeling she hadn't experienced before in her short life.

She didn't know it yet, but what she was feeling was a flourishing pride.

Pride in herself.

"Alright, I-I won't either." After speaking, Hinata couldn't help but blush. That… why did she say that?!

Naruko laughed heartily when she heard her; even if it was almost nonexistent, the slight tone of defiance in the girl's voice made her quite happy.

"If you two have talked enough, then I suggest you start fighting, or I'll enter the field and make you both fight against me." Upon hearing Sukuna's "threat," both girls suddenly shivered and, with decision, charged at each other once more.

Sukuna observed their fight with a critical eye. It seemed that his decision to take Hinata had been the right one; it not only helped Naruko gain more combat experience, but it also improved her mood during practice. And perhaps, just perhaps, it would also make her social skills and manners a little better.

Although that was probably too much to ask, as even he had had difficulties instilling such things in her.

'Maybe the opposite will happen, and Hinata will be led astray by her.' No, that was stupid; Hinata was too different from Naruko for that to happen.

Although it was probably best for him to keep an eye on them, just in case.

'Well, actually, it's not really my problem, right? I'm just a clone.' Yes, the Sukuna in this place was also a clone.

The real Sukuna was quite far away on the village's borders, training with Izumi as he had been doing for several days now.

The original plan had been to train with the girl for a few hours and then return personally to supervise Naruko and Hinata's training, but that plan had to be changed due to a last-minute deal he made with Izumi. Since he was not only going to teach her one but two of his abilities, he had to dedicate more time to her, so he finally decided to resort to shadow clones.

Normally, making only one shadow clone was his current "limit" due to his still-low chakra amount. However, that limit could be overcome by absorbing enough negative emotions and converting them into chakra. With Naruko, Hinata, and Izumi nearby, obtaining such negative emotions was actually easy for him, so he decided to go with that option.

So far, it hadn't resulted in anything problematic, so the shadow clone jutsu started to become one of his favorites. Of course, it had some odd things, like his clones acting a bit differently from his usual self. He didn't know if this was something inherent to the jutsu or if it was a side effect of using chakra created from negative emotions, but in essence, they were still "him," and they all worked toward his goals, so it wasn't something that bothered him.

Sukuna didn't know that this thought would soon change.

Note: Important to read!

And here's another chapter!

I know you have questions, and I'm going to answer them now to avoid misunderstandings.

I know that the shadow clone jutsu creates exact copies of the original, so the clones shouldn't act differently, or at least not so differently from the original.

But Sukuna isn't creating shadow clones in a natural way. In case you haven't understood until now, his ability to absorb negative emotions and convert them into chakra actually cleans those negative emotions/purifies them before transforming them, resulting in chakra that is completely pure and immaculate.

In Naruto, the user's chakra is affected by their own emotions/feelings, causing it to adopt characteristics unique to the user, like "being sinister," "being warm," or "being cold." In short, it's "impure" chakra, infected with emotions.

As an example, there's the Kyūbi, which was born as a "pure" being, but over time its chakra became "corrupted" into a miasma of negativity that can, literally, burn on contact.

For that reason, for now, Sukuna's clones are somewhat different from him, as he's not using his natural chakra to create them in order to keep his reserves at maximum for training with Izumi. Instead, he's creating them from "pure" chakra generated by absorbing negative emotions, causing them to develop their own "inner feelings and unique personality traits" the longer they exist and based on what they do during that existence, like running a shop and developing a taste for making money and doing business.

Of course, this only happens for now. Once Sukuna has all his hidden reserves in his inner domain, he won't need to do this trick unless he wants to create thousands of clones like the original Naruto or make clones without having to divide his natural chakra reserves (which could be quite useful in various situations).

Anyway, I didn't originally plan to do this, but as I was detailing Sukuna's abilities for myself, I realized that theoretically, this should happen, and I finally decided to let it happen. Let's see how it turns out. I hope the explanation was clear. Leave your opinions and comments.

I know the plot has been slow so far, but as I always say, I like to go in-depth and give things time to create a solid foundation for the story, so I appreciate your patience.

For now this story is still one of slow updates, I've been a little sick but I'm on the way to recovery, I don't know if I can release another chapter this month but I'll try!

"Are you ready?" Sukuna asked Izumi, who stood in front of him, her sharp eyes extremely focused, her chakra covering every inch of her body uniformly like an invisible protective layer that made the air around her vibrate slightly.

The girl did not respond immediately; instead, she continued to focus on her chakra control in the way Sukuna had been teaching her. After making a few simple movements and once she felt ready, she raised her guard, assuming a defensive stance.

"Do it." At her words, the pink-haired boy did not hesitate for a second and launched forward in an instant.

His fist, heavy like a powerful metal hammer, struck the girl's guard with immense force, causing the air to explode and the ground beneath their feet to shake. Izumi frowned, but her concentration did not falter, allowing that layer of chakra on her body to absorb the full impact without barely wavering—a blow that would have previously sent her flying and left an ugly bruise on her skin was now blocked without causing her any harm.

Well, it did make her arms tremble slightly, and a small stinging pain assaulted her, but aside from that, it was clear to anyone watching that her defenses had surpassed any prior standard.

What Sukuna had taught Izumi and what he had used to exceed his physical stats when they fought for the first time was actually the method sorcerers used to reinforce their bodies with cursed energy but adapted so that ninjas could use it.

A long time ago, when Sukuna was even younger and had witnessed Hinata's kidnapping by the Kumo envoy, he had noticed something about the way ninjas used chakra to reinforce their bodies.

Something that had become increasingly evident to him as he met more ninjas and fought them.

Their method of enhancing their physical abilities using chakra was… deficient.

He wasn't saying it was incorrect or wrong—their displays of superhuman feats were clear examples that it was a useful method—but to him, it was clear that it could be better, that it should be better.

Chakra was such a powerful energy that thinking its capacity to enhance its users' physiques would be lesser than the degree of destruction it could cause was quite absurd.

but it still happened, and for that reason, weapons like kunai and shuriken seemed to remain effective in combat despite the fact that ninjas could easily demonstrate feats of destruction far greater than what such tools could achieve when they lacked any special characteristics to make them more than simple pieces of sharpened metal.

Like glass cannons.

Of course, some ninjas could surpass this "limitation" simply by using more chakra to reinforce themselves, but in a way, that was a crude and barbaric method, something only ninjas with vast amounts of chakra could afford.

Perhaps there were other methods he didn't know about, more refined techniques, or simply unique physical traits that made things easier. Naruko was proof of that, although Sukuna wasn't entirely sure if it was just due to her Uzumaki blood or the fox inside her. Perhaps it was both.

"It seems you've finally succeeded,"

Izumi nodded but soon frowned.

"Although I can feel the improvement, I also feel that fighting in this state will be difficult."

Sukuna nodded and shrugged.

"Of course. Although you've learned how to use it in a short time, you're still not accustomed enough to do it consistently and automatically. Your body still needs to adapt to the technique, and that's something you can only achieve through experience." After thinking more about his words, Sukuna added something else.

"But that can be very dangerous if you're not careful, so I advise you not to try using it on your missions unless your opponent is weak enough to allow it."

Hearing him, Izumi nodded, understanding that he was right. Using this technique was actually quite complicated since it required great concentration and control at all times. Using it incorrectly would only cause her chakra to become unbalanced, leading to a "leak," rapidly depleting her reserves in a short period of time. If that happened in the middle of a life-or-death fight, she might as well be signing her own death warrant.

Taking all that into account, it was truly surprising to her how Sukuna managed to fight using such a technique with such ease. She couldn't help but wonder what kind of training he must have gone through, but it was surely something truly hellish.

And she wasn't entirely wrong, although it wasn't in this life where that training took place.

"In that case, let me gain some of that experience," she said, looking at him with a clear intent to fight, and Sukuna couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.

"Didn't you say you have your first mission as a chunin tomorrow? Do you really want to overexert yourself right now? I thought you were smarter than that. Your training is practically complete. You've already learned the two techniques you wanted; now you just need time to get used to using them. Being impatient and pushing yourself when it's unnecessary is just plain stupid." At his scolding, she blushed slightly.

It wasn't that Sukuna didn't want to have one last sparring session with her—fighting was always fun for him—but if that led to her having an accident or, worse, dying due to carelessness, he would feel it was a waste.

After all, he still wanted to see just how strong the Uchiha clan's Susanoo really was.

Izumi frowned but eventually sighed and decided to listen because Sukuna was right. Being a ninja was dangerous, and any mission could suddenly take a turn for the worse at any moment. She had witnessed this as a genin, and now, as a chunin, the danger would only be greater.

"Then we'll do it when I return," she suggested, and Sukuna agreed.

Several dozen meters away, outside the clearing they used as a training field, a decently stealthy presence approached, though not too closely. Of course, both of them had noticed it a while ago, but neither really paid it any attention. Well, Sukuna didn't care, and Izumi simply smiled slightly before returning to her usual stoic expression.

"By the way, before you leave, there's something I want to ask you." It was still early in the morning, but today's training session didn't need to continue, so Izumi would be leaving soon to rest before her mission. But before she did, Sukuna decided it was a good moment to talk about a few things.

"What is it?"

"Have you ever met Danzo Shimura?" Sukuna got straight to the point, catching Izumi off guard as she looked at him, puzzled.

"The Hokage's advisor? I've seen him. Once, he approached me when I graduated from the academy, but aside from that day, we haven't spoken again."

"I see," Sukuna said. It seemed their contact was still minimal, which made things easier for him.

"I met him recently. In fact, he made me an interesting offer." Seeing the half-mocking smile that formed on his face, Izumi couldn't help but feel a spark of curiosity.

Without waiting for her to ask the question, he began recounting parts of their encounter, his mind drifting back to the memory of that day.

.

.

.

It was the beginning of the evening, and in the distance, the sound of a nocturnal cicada began to resonate. The cold wind gently swayed the tops of the tall trees, causing a few leaves to drift slowly to the ground. In this strangely serene atmosphere, two figures stood, watching each other with an unusual calm.

Sukuna, hands tucked into the pockets of his shorts and a relaxed demeanor, looked at the man who had stepped out from the shadows, showing no hint of nervousness—a friendly smile on his face.

On the other side, Danzo, his single uncovered eye glinting, discreetly examined the boy before him, silently evaluating every aspect of him.

"I heard from Hiruzen that you'll soon be attending the ninja academy," he finally said, breaking the silence.

"That's the plan," Sukuna replied as though it didn't matter much to him.

"Are you really okay with that? Wasting six years learning things you already know? Squandering your potential when you could be doing so much more?"

'I thought he'd be more subtle,' Sukuna couldn't help but think sarcastically.

"Even though I don't like it, there's not much I can do about it, right? If I want to become a ninja, I have to go and earn it like everyone else," he said, feigning reluctance, though not overly so.

And as if waiting for this, a faint smile briefly appeared at the corner of Danzo's lips. The cunning glint that flickered deep in his eye didn't go unnoticed by Sukuna either. The boy had to muster significant willpower not to roll his eyes, while his dislike for the man climbed several notches.

"I wouldn't say there's no way. In fact, there's a way for you to become a ninja without attending the academy."

"Eh? Are you serious?" Sukuna appeared 'excited' to hear this, but soon his brow furrowed, suspicion creeping into his expression. "But… why didn't Sarutobi-sensei mention this?"

"Hiruzen is somewhat old-fashioned. He prefers to do things the traditional way. I, on the other hand, believe certain situations warrant exceptions. Your talent is something rarely seen, and it would truly be a shame not to see it shine as it should. Don't you agree? That's why I came to find you."

As Danzo's words flowed, so too did a subtle and almost imperceptible trace of chakra.

'High-level genjutsu, no doubt,' Sukuna realized as he began to carefully analyze the technique with the aid of his spiritual perception.

It was nothing extraordinary, but it excelled in subtlety—a technique designed to make people more susceptible to new suggestions without actually forcing them into decisions they wouldn't normally make.

If a genin or even an ordinary chunin had been in his place, Sukuna had no doubt this technique would have worked seamlessly, without raising the slightest suspicion.

Quite clever.

But it also signaled that his opponent was severely underestimating him.

Not that he could blame him, of course—Sukuna was an anomaly in every sense. Danzo wasn't being overly arrogant in thinking he could manipulate him at will. If it had been anyone else, the man's plans would likely have succeeded one way or another.

'On the other hand, should I feel flattered that he brought so many people with him?' Sukuna thought, sensing more than a dozen hidden presences in the darkness—fairly competent ninjas, with even the weakest among them possessing chakra as intense as Anko's.

"I see. So this is the offer you mentioned earlier, isn't it? It's definitely interesting," Sukuna said. The smile on Danzo's face became far less discreet than before. It didn't take a genius to see that the man thought he had Sukuna in the palm of his hand.

'A truly annoying guy,' Sukuna mused, a faint murderous intent stirring deep within him, though he made sure not to let it seep outward.

.

.

.

"And what did you answer him?" Izumi's voice pulled Sukuna back to the present, and with a huff, he replied, a hint of disdain in his tone.

"I turned him down, of course."

Danzo hadn't looked particularly pleased when it happened, but Sukuna didn't care about his reaction. What mattered was what he learned from the interaction: Danzo appeared unable to "forcefully" take him, at least for now. Otherwise, he would have done it directly and wouldn't have played the game of manipulation as he did.

The advantages of having a close relationship with the Hokage, he supposed.

Izumi couldn't help but look at him with some surprise. Sukuna, of course, hadn't told her everything exactly—only a somewhat condensed version of the encounter—but that was enough for her to understand that the offer made was surely something many people would find interesting.

She herself, if she could, would have completely skipped the entire first year she spent at the academy. And from what she knew of Sukuna so far, he didn't seem like the kind of person who would be content to spend time in a classroom.

"Why?" she asked curiously, not understanding why he would pass up an offer that seemed "good" for him. Sukuna left his usual joviality behind and, adopting a serious expression, decided to clear up her doubts.

"You trust the people of the village too much. Maybe that's why you didn't consider that all this was suspicious, right?"

Huh? Izumi blinked. Suspicious? Of course, although much more mature than others her age, Izumi still lacked certain experiences necessary to understand some things.

Unconsciously, she trusted the village and its leaders too much. Danzo, as one of the Hokage's main advisors, surely couldn't have anything suspicious about him, right? That should have been her way of thinking.

Such a mindset was undoubtedly one of the reasons why her counterpart from another world, "Itachi," was so easily "manipulated" into ending up massacring his entire clan.

Of course, there were probably other factors involved, but Sukuna didn't remember every little detail of the matter well enough to know for certain. Even so, he didn't feel he was too far off in his reasoning.

"Let me make something clear, Izumi. In this village, even though there are different clans, advisors, and ranks, the only one who can truly dictate the development of Konoha's ninjas is the Hokage. There are no such things as shortcuts to make things easier. And anyone who suggests otherwise, unless it's the Hokage himself, is without a doubt someone you shouldn't trust."

Sukuna would have preferred to tell her not to trust anyone at all, but he knew doing so would be a mistake.

Although he hadn't spent much time around her, it was enough for him to understand her character to some extent. That's why he knew her loyalty to Konoha was undoubtedly something that couldn't easily be shaken.

For that reason, he decided instead to leverage the Hokage, even if it was risky. After all, while Hiruzen wasn't entirely bad, he still had clear flaws, with many of his past decisions being, at best, questionable. Still, it was better than letting her continue to blindly trust those she shouldn't.

" I understand… Now that you mention it, I can see how strange the whole matter is." Izumi had never thought much about Danzo, but thanks to Sukuna's words, she couldn't help but feel a certain level of caution toward the man begin to grow within her.

"In any case, don't worry too much about this matter. I'll talk to the Hokage and let him handle it, so don't think about snooping around unnecessarily." Of course, he still needed to prevent her from having any foolish ideas, like trying to investigate Danzo on her own.

That would undoubtedly bring problems he didn't need right now.

At his light warning, she nodded, understanding that it wasn't her place to delve too deeply into this. She had just become a Chunin, after all, and already had enough on her plate dealing with her clan's problems to add even more—at least not until she became a Jounin and her influence and abilities were greater.

Suddenly, both fell silent as the presence that had been hiding began trying to move closer.

Izumi tried to maintain a stoic appearance, but she couldn't prevent a hint of apology from showing on her face. At the same time, Sukuna looked at her with clear mockery mixed with slight annoyance.

After all, this "intruder" had come from the same direction as her.

Seeing that she said nothing, Sukuna rolled his eyes and, with a fluid motion, pulled out a shuriken, skillfully wrapping it with ninja wire. Without hesitation, he swiftly launched it toward the target, eliciting a panicked yelp from the bushes.

.

.

A few moments earlier.

Satsuki couldn't believe she had managed it.

Ever since Izumi had started leaving the house every morning and disappearing until nightfall, she had been very worried. Her sister had told her she was just training, and their parents seemed to accept it without question, but seeing her return every day with varying degrees of injuries on her body was too much for the young Uchiha.

She had never seen her sister train to such an extent, and it worried her that something might be going on. After thinking about it a lot, she had decided to try to find out what was happening.

Of course, things hadn't gone very well at the start.

Trying to follow her wasn't easy—she was incredibly fast, and no matter what Satsuki did, Izumi always left her eating dust with no chance of catching up. But finally, after many days and extensive use of the tracking skills Izumi herself had taught her, Satsuki had managed to more or less trace the direction her older sister headed every morning.

Of course, having a general direction to follow wasn't enough to fully track her path. Even so, it was a start, one that allowed her to move forward slowly but surely, despite the annoying obstacles and complications that crossed her path one way or another.

All of this had to be done with great care and stealth. If her sister realized what she was doing, she would undoubtedly change her route, rendering all her efforts useless.

She almost believed she wouldn't succeed, but somehow, after nearly considering giving up, she managed it.

Of course, what Satsuki didn't know was that Izumi had noticed her attempts to follow her from the very beginning. Thinking this could be useful for her younger sister, Izumi decided to turn it into a form of training, letting Satsuki practice her tracking skills against her. The mysterious obstacles and setbacks Satsuki encountered were, naturally, her doing.

Izumi might not have been able to train Satsuki as directly as she would have liked at the moment, but no one said she couldn't help her in other ways.

And so, without realizing it, Satsuki had met her older sister's expectations by "finding" her just before she set out on her first mission as a Chunin.

Of course, what she saw when she arrived at the place where Izumi was waiting was far from what she had initially imagined, leaving her greatly bewildered. She was too far away to avoid being discovered, so she couldn't hear what Izumi and Sukuna were saying. But seeing her sister meeting in such a remote place and in private with a boy who didn't look much older than her was undoubtedly shocking and mysterious.

She watched silently, wanting to see what this was about, but the two didn't seem to be doing anything other than talking. Satsuki gritted her teeth and decided she needed to get closer to listen.

A bad choice.

Before she could react, a shuriken flew toward her at full speed. As if it had a "life" of its own, it spun around her several times, causing the nearly invisible ninja wire accompanying it to wrap around her body in an instant. Then, suddenly and abruptly, she was pulled out of her hiding spot.

The surprised and panicked squeal she let out would be one she'd remember with embarrassment for a long time.

.

.

Sukuna retracted the ninja wire, and with ease, a body flew out from the bushes to where he and Izumi were standing.

"Well, this time I caught a big one!" he shouted with feigned excitement, holding the small spy by the ankle and shaking her carelessly, as if she were a freshly caught fish.

"Hey! Let me go!" Satsuki tried to struggle in vain, while Izumi simply sighed at the sight.

"Satsuki, why are you here?" Hearing her older sister's voice, the girl froze for a moment, stopping her struggle. Embarrassed at having been discovered, she couldn't help but avert her gaze awkwardly, her dark eyes meeting Sukuna's mocking stare.

"Hmph!" Seeing her pout, the pink-haired boy laughed openly.

"Looks like she doesn't like me!" With that, he let go of her ankle, causing the young Uchiha to fall face-first to the ground.

"Y-You!" Satsuki growled, dirt smudging her face. She tried to get up but only managed to wriggle like a worm in convulsions since her limbs were still bound by the ninja wire.

Izumi frowned at her pitiful state but said nothing nor made any attempt to help her. This, too, could serve as a lesson for her younger sister—finding ways to escape when captured was one of the essential skills of a ninja, after all.

Of course, her stoicism barely lasted half a minute before she stepped forward and began helping to untangle her until she was finally freed. Satsuki stood awkwardly, her shoulder-length hair so disheveled it looked like a pack of wild cats had fought on her head.

"Onee-san, I—"

"You did well. Not many can track a real ninja so stealthily without being one themselves. But you got overconfident. You thought you were safe and exposed yourself, which got you caught. That can't happen again, do you understand?"

At her words, her younger sister cycled through multiple emotions before simply nodding, taking her advice with the utmost seriousness as if her words were undeniable truth. Her admiration for her was plainly visible.

From the side, Sukuna watched the interaction with a casual smile, though inwardly, he was scrutinizing the younger Uchiha from head to toe with great interest.

'To think that a runt like her has the potential to fight against Naruko in the future.' It was hard for him to believe. He didn't know exactly what made her so special. Was the Sharingan really that powerful? Or was it that purple eye with several circles inside, of which he had only vague memories?

'Ringan? No, Rinnegan.' Even remembering the name was tedious.

He truly hated not having watched more of the series in his first life. Having only fragments of information made things somewhat complicated, though not overly so. In the end, everything always had a solution, and that solution was having a fist big enough to crush any problem.

'Well, this actually presents me with another opportunity,' he thought. He hadn't exactly sought it out, but he never rejected a gift when it was handed to him so clearly.

If there was anything better than having a walking nuclear bomb by your side, it was having two of them. And Satsuki certainly qualified for that role.

Although it would probably be far more troublesome to get her on his side than with Naruko.

As Sukuna pondered these things, the two sisters had finished catching up, with Satsuki explaining why she had decided to follow Izumi, and Izumi once again reassuring her that she was just training and that she shouldn't worry too much.

"Are you training with him?" Satsuki's question made Sukuna pay attention to the conversation again. The girl was looking at him with no attempt to hide her suspicion and doubt.

"Sukuna-san has been helping me with my training and preparation for the start of my missions, so treat him with respect." At her older sister's mild reprimand, Satsuki furrowed her brows but ultimately complied. Although reluctant, she bowed in greeting to the pink-haired boy.

"Thank you for helping my older sister, Sukuna-san."

"Tch, I told you I don't like honorifics," Sukuna complained, looking at Izumi, who decided to ignore him. While she could drop such formalities when they were alone, with her sister present, she had to set the right example.

And speaking of examples, she couldn't help but hesitate a little about her secret plan now that Sukuna and her sister had met.

The truth was that, besides helping Satsuki practice her tracking skills, Izumi had also used the situation as a "test," which her younger sister successfully passed by finding the clearing where she trained before heading out on her mission—a test created with the sole purpose of having Sukuna meet her in person.

Of course, at first, that hadn't been her intention. The truth was that, in the beginning, she only wanted to help sharpen Satsuki's skills. But as the days went by, an idea started growing in her mind, an idea born from an offhand comment Sukuna made during one of their training sessions.

While they practiced together, Sukuna had mentioned that she was a better student than the other brats he dealt with. His words caught her attention, and after asking a bit, she learned that Sukuna had taken under his wing two girls his own age, teaching them a few things.

Why Sukuna had done this was a mystery to the Uchiha, but the important thing was that he was willing to do it, and that was enough for her to consider adding someone else to the mix.

As an older sister, her younger sister's well-being and prosperity were her top priorities, even above the village itself. Now that she was a Chunin, she would inevitably have to leave the village for extended periods, at least until she could achieve her goal of becoming a Juonin. And if she wanted that, she needed to take on high-level missions, which would leave her little time for anything else.

Izumi didn't know what kind of changes the village and the Uchiha clan might undergo during her absence. Tensions were already high, and they would only continue to rise. Naturally, this made her deeply worried about Satsuki's well-being.

She simply didn't trust the clan to ensure her sister's safety. She feared that if she left, the radical thoughts many members held—including their parents—would eventually infect her, something she absolutely didn't want.

For a while, she was uncertain about what to do. At one point, she even considered speaking with Shisui about it, but he was already a Juonin with his own responsibilities to handle. Once she ruled out her cousin, Izumi realized she didn't have many people she could trust.

Until she thought of Sukuna.

Of course, it wasn't an immediate thought. She probably wouldn't have even considered it if he hadn't told her he was already teaching others. Only then did the idea take root in her mind, though she wasn't sure exactly how to make it happen or whether it was even the right path.

The thought of leaving her sister in Sukuna's care gave her slight chills for some reason. It was one thing for her to endure Sukuna's brutal and grueling training methods, but imagining her sweet, adorable younger sister going through the same was a completely different matter.

She was torn. She knew that under Sukuna's guidance, Satsuki's talent would undoubtedly flourish in the right way. But at the same time, she wasn't sure if her little sister was ready for the kind of training the pink-haired boy provided.

In the end, after much deliberation, she decided to leave it in Satsuki's hands. And that's where the hidden test, known only to her, was born. The test required Satsuki to track her to the clearing that Izumi and Sukuna had been using as their training field before Izumi left for her first mission as a Chunin.

It might have seemed like an overly simple test, but in the past few days, Izumi had made sure to place enough "obstacles" in her younger sister's path to test her physical and mental endurance.

A first step that, despite the tight timeframe, Satsuki had completed successfully.

Now it was Izumi's turn to take the second step, the one that would likely be the most difficult.

Asking Sukuna to take her under his wing.

Sukuna, of course, noticed that there was something she wanted to say. He could practically taste her nervousness, worry, and doubt flooding the air in substantial amounts. Being able to detect the negative emotions people generated had always been very useful in situations like this—it helped him sense when something was up, even if the person maintained a perfect poker face.

"If you want to say something, just spit it out. If not, I'm leaving. I've got nothing else to do here."

Izumi frowned slightly, deciding she couldn't keep putting it off. She got straight to the point.

"I'd like you to train Satsuki while I'm away."

"Onee-san!" Satsuki turned to her in surprise, while Sukuna scoffed upon hearing her, his eyes narrowing into thin slits, a dangerous glint igniting within them.

Sukuna didn't need omniscient perspective or mind-reading abilities to figure out what was happening. It was easy for him to see that this encounter with Izumi's sister was something the girl had likely planned deliberately to make this request.

'Cunning vixen,' he mocked inwardly, equal parts amused and annoyed.

He didn't like people thinking they could manipulate him. If he had been more spiteful and hadn't known Izumi as long as he had, he would have rejected her request outright without a second thought—possibly while making an obscene gesture with his hand.

In fact, he even considered doing the latter anyway, if only to show his displeasure with the situation, but ultimately decided against it.

'Even though this actually plays in my favor, I shouldn't rush to accept it so easily,' he thought, remaining silent as he stared gravely at Izumi. She met his gaze without flinching, seemingly unaffected.

Of course, Sukuna could see the waves of emotions emanating from her, making it clear she wasn't as calm as she appeared on the surface.

'Uchihas, their ability to generate negative emotions is certainly top-tier.' They probably also generated other types of emotions with the same intensity, it's just that he couldn't see those.

For a moment, Sukuna considered playing hard to get, showing some reluctance before "begrudgingly" accepting, but he felt it was too unnecessary.

His tense gaze relaxed, and with a "sigh," he shrugged his shoulders.

"You know your debt to me just increased, right? You now owe me two favors."

Hearing this, Izumi couldn't help but sigh as well, her nervousness about the possible rejection of her request beginning to fade. With a slight smile, she nodded in agreement.

"Anything you need, I'll do it."

What dangerous words to say, especially considering he could see that she meant them. Of course, Sukuna didn't believe She would truly do "anything" he asked of her, but considering he was speaking to someone who might potentially be willing to kill her entire clan… yes, there was plenty of room to work with.

"I'll hold you to those words. Don't disappoint me." Sukuna then turned to Satsuki, who had been silently watching the exchange between the two with clear uncertainty.

"Don't expect me to go easy on you just because you're her younger sister. Since I've agreed to train you, I expect you to be ready."

Although she didn't know exactly what her older sister was thinking by having a stranger train her, Satsuki wasn't one to be easily intimidated. With a spark of defiance in her eyes, she tried to return his gaze in the same way Izumi had done, though her attempt was clearly less dignified.

Sukuna scoffed as he watched her.

"I can see stubbornness runs in the family. Anyway, I think it's about time I left. I'll meet you later."

With those last words directed at the younger Uchiha, he turned and began to leave. Neither of the two Uchihas noticed the triumphant smile that started to form on his lips.

In the end, Izumi hadn't just handed over her sister to him on a silver platter—she had even gotten herself into debt with him for it.

And he hadn't even tried.

'My luck seems to be through the roof today,' he thought with satisfaction as he walked away, waving his hand in a casual goodbye. Distractedly, he wondered if he should buy a lottery ticket or something.

But before he could keep enjoying the moment, his body froze as an avalanche of new memories suddenly surged into him.

The shadow clone he had created to substitute for him in his duties as a "civilian" had finally dispelled after several days of continuous activity, and the overwhelming influx of new memories hitting him all at once caused his brain to experience extreme stress. A sharp headache began to form, though it was quickly countered by his reverse cursed technique.

'Note to self: don't let clones exist for more than a day.'

Once he was certain there wouldn't be any significant neural damage, Sukuna began to sift through the new memories more carefully, his expression soon shifting to one of exasperation.

Suddenly, the Shadow Clone Jutsu no longer seemed as cool as he had initially thought it was.

One more chapter! With over five thousand words!

Somehow, I don't know how this got so long.

Hello again, everyone! ;D It's been a while, hasn't it? I apologize for not bringing any updates to this story for so long. I was a bit busy and honestly never found the right moment to work on this series until now (researching about Naruto took up a large chunk of the time I had originally planned to use for writing).

All I can say is that I'm glad I made this an AU (alternate universe) from the start—there are many things that would've been really hard to justify otherwise (timeline inconsistencies being the most obvious).

I'm just saying this as a reminder and heads-up since there will be more things that diverge from canon, either to a small or greater extent, though nothing too major or substantial that would make this stop resembling Naruto.

(Of course, the changes brought about by Sukuna's existence are included.)

On another note, I'll probably be doing a time skip soon, to finally get to the Academy and address the Uchiha clan issue which, if you've already guessed, won't end the same way it did in canon.

I hope the chapter didn't feel too heavy. Remember to leave your comments and critiques about it.

With that said I can only hope that things continue on the right track, December 25th is almost here so I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas in advance, I hope you all have a great time whether alone, with your families or friends, no matter what situation you find yourself in I wish you happy holidays :D
