Xandrel's Potterverse AUs

Good thinking.

I'm assuming that yes, they go back to Earth. I'm not seeing a scenario where traditional wizards would accept moving such precious and old locations such as Hogwarts, Beauxbatons and Durmstrang.

Another question:

HP wizards seem to gain their magic from the planet (or is that fanon). If that is the case, how does being on other planets affect their magic?

Its fanon, they can use their magic everywhere.

"A wizard cannot run out of magic the same way a muggle can't run out of muggle"

Three scenarios this time, due to their short length.

Another Chance

End of Deathly Hallows, Harry Potter has defeated Lord Voldemort once and for all. The Dark Lord has no more Horcruxes and has finally died.

Tom Marvolo Riddle has lost everything and is now forced to lie in limbo for all of eternity thinking on his actions. He is unable to return as a ghost or move on to the next, great adventure.

There is of course rage at first, confusion and fear. These later are replaced by resignation.

Three hundred years pass.

After all this time, he has finally realized what he did wrong, what Potter and Dumbledore did right.

After three hundred years, Voldemort finally understood love and its power. He now finally understands why he was doomed to fail from the start.

And in the moment he realizes that, he opens his eyes and it is December 31st, 1926 at Wool's Orphanage.

He is in shock, of course. To be offered a second chance like that, it is unthinkable.

However, three hundred years did their part and he has simply forgotten many important details about his former life. After all, he has spent more time in limbo than he was alive.

So Voldemort waits, he learns again and he adapts. And, of course, he is different now.

This time, there will be no powers the Dark Lord knows not.

The Split
What if the wizards and muggles were separated?

Say, that for example some cosmic deity, be it a god, ancient aliens, magic itself or something else entirely splits the universe into two dimensions.

And by universe, I mean Earth, of course.

In one dimension, all magic, wizards, witches, magical creatures and beings, magical plants and wizard-built structures such as Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley etc simply vanish. Muggleborns will no longer be born and it is as if magic never existed.

In the second dimension, it is all muggles and squibs and all muggle-built structures that vanish. No more squibs will be born.

Let's focus on the dimension where magic remains, but muggles vanish.

How would the wizarding world deal with the complete disappearance of muggles? They will notice immediately, as all muggle cities and machines will simply vanish right before their eyes.

Imagine that places like Diagon Alley, the Ministry of Magic or St. Mungo's are the only things left of London. King's Cross vanishes, but Platform 9&3/4 remains untouched. In mixed muggle-wizard villages like Godric's Hollow, muggle homes vanish, but wizarding homes remain.

Obviously, muggleborns remain in this world, but their homes and their muggle relatives have vanished.

So, what do the magical people do? Is their population enough to let their civilization survive?

What about races such as Goblins, Centaurs and Giants? How do they deal with the new world deprived of muggles?

Obviously the Statute of Secrecy is no longer in effect, as there is no reason to hide anymore.

20 Years Late

Instead of being born in 1980, Harry Potter is born in the year 2000.

However, Hermione, Ron and other characters have their birth dates unchanged, only Harry's is changed.

In 2001, Lord Voldemort attacks Harry and is defeated as he was in 1981 in canon.

This of course means that the First War lasted much longer than originally, additional twenty years to be exact.

This set up gives us an interesting AU to work with, especially since it creates questions that need answering:

- Why did Lily and James wait so long to have a child?

- Where did Harry live? Was he raised by the now-adult Dudley?

- How did Britain change during additional 20 years of war?

- How was Hogwarts for Hermione, Ron, Draco and other kids that attended Hogwarts with Harry in canon?

- What happened to Sirius, Remus and Peter? Was Pettigrew ever found out to be a spy?

- What happened to Snape? With no Prophecy to change his fate did he remain loyal to Voldemort?

- What about the Longbottoms? This time the Prophecy did not affect them, so no tortures, right?

- Who did the child characters from canon grew up to be? Did Ron become an Auror? Is Hermione in the Ministry?

- Was Hagrid ever allowed to become a teacher? Is he still teaching?

- Did Flamel destroy the Stone eventually, fearing that Voldemort might come for it?

- Quirrell? Lockhart? The Lovegoods? Umbridge? What happened to them and many other characters?!

And so many more questions!

The Lotteryverse

No specific dates, just events in chronological order, caused by a single POD.

POD - Arthur Weasley does not win the lottery at the Ministry of Magic.

* The Weasleys do not go to Egypt during the summer after Ron's second year.

* They do not have a picture in the Daily Prophet with Wormtail.

* Sirius Black remains in Azkaban.

* Harry is invited to stay over in the Burrow in the summer and because of this avoids aunt Marge.

* Harry's Hogsmeade permission is signed by Vernon.

* No Dementors at Hogwarts. Harry does not learn the Patronus charm.

* No Lupin at Hogwarts. Someone else gets the position. Let's say Auror John Dawlish.

* Pettigrew is not discovered, does not escape and does not find Voldemort.

* Bertha Jorkins survives her trip to Albania and returns to Britain having managed not to encounter Voldemort.

* Voldemort remains in Albania.

* Something happens at the end of the year to make Dawlish leave the position. Let's say he accidentally walks into the Whomping Willow, gets beaten and resigns.

* During the Quidditch World Cup, Barty Crouch Jr. breaks free of his father's Imperius and escapes.

* Barty then steals Harry's wand during the riot started by the Death Eaters at the World Cup and casts the Dark Mark.

* Crouch Sr. frees Winky and finds his son, stunned. He reapplies the Imperius and takes Barty home.

* Real Alastor Moody becomes the Defense teacher.

* The Triwizard Tournament is not interrupted and there is no fourth champion.

* Cedric wins the Tournament. Lives to tell the tale.

* The Twins don't get money for their joke shop.

* Hagrid doesn't go to speak with the Giants and does not meet his half-brother Grawp.

* Percy remains on good terms with his family.

* Umbridge thankfully is not made the Defense teacher. Instead, Dedalus Diggle agrees to take the post for a single year.

* Broderick Bode is not put under the Imperius by Lucius Malfoy and does not land in St. Mungos.

* There is no breakout and Bellatrix Lestrange along with other Death Eaters remains in Azkaban.

* The Twins remain at Hogwarts for the rest of their education.

* Draco is not made a Death Eater.

* Unfortunately, Fudge continues to remain the Minister for Magic.

* Snape is not forced into any Unbreakable Vows and is not made the Defense teacher.

* Slughorn continues to enjoy retirement.

* Dumbledore is not cursed by the Ring Hocrux and does not die.

* Voldemort has still not returned by this point, does not take over the Ministry.

Conclusion: by winning the lottery, Arthur Weasley caused Voldemort to return and begin the Second Wizarding war during which many people died.

Everything because Anything
or
Why Xandrel creates settings instead of stories?

Walking swiftly past the petrified form of the Potions Master, I gazed upon the Mirror of Erised without wasting another second.

And as I looked into this magnificent piece of magic, I saw everything. Not only the world, but an entire collection of infinite worlds.

Alternate parentage and origins, different Sortings, time travel, various prophecies or lack of them, omnipresent magic, gods, aliens, death eaters, romances... It wasn't enough.

As the multiverse unfolded before me, I saw worlds going through an ice age, desert worlds, barren wastelands and jungles filled with life, wizards coexisting with dinosaurs, dementor apocalypses, muggle holocausts, everyone becoming a ghost, dragons having human intelligence, vampires being treated better than goblins, everyone owning a Philosopher's Stone...

It still wasn't enough. The vision stretched further.

I saw worlds emerging from nothingness and vanishing into it immediately afterwards. I saw Sirius Black never going to Azkaban, I also saw him never being born, while at the same I saw him becoming the Minister for Magic. I saw Hermione Granger being born a muggle and yet I saw her be a dark, pureblood witch.

The number of worlds grew.

Wizards outbreeding muggles, muggles outbreeding wizards, death, life, disasters and miracles. Hagrid kissed by a Dementor instead of being expelled, Tom Riddle becoming Headmaster of Hogwarts, Grindelwald enslaving muggles. And at the same time, Merope never being born, Argus Filch being a wizard, Dumbledore revolutionizing healing magic, wizards and muggles coexisting peacefully...

The infinite possibilities never stopped flowing. It was all a chaotic mess, which was also neatly ordered at the same time. Narcissa Malfoy the history of magic Professor, Unspeakable Molly Weasley, Head Auror Umbridge...

I finally started seeing the reason for it all and I saw the small connections coming to and going from one possibility to another. They also seemed to be connected to a single source.

And as I focused on that source I saw myself and yet not myself. The other me floated across infinity, writing down everything he encountered, trying to combine each idea.

And in that moment I knew the Mirror only showed lies, for the me in the Mirror successfully created a story, while I could not.

Picture of a Terrible World

Snippets from the speech delivered by Minister Lovegood in 1981, right after the Diagon Disaster:

"We must initiate a renewal of the traditional values that have been the tendons of this country's strength. One recent survey by a Cambridge-based Unspeakable concluded that wizards were far more willing to breed with muggles now than they have in the past hundred years. Britain is a nation that will not suffer abominations lightly. And that is the core of the awakening. We will stop the Order of the Phoenix..."

"...for the first time we have risen, and I see we are being consumed. I see magic that is not magic. Thousands of dying souls inside prison. Blood Traitors have eaten this country's moral fabric, turning blood into filth. We are from a kingdom level above human. And yet, what does that now yield? A long beard that damns an entire nation."

"I've been to the dragon reserves of Romania, and the tombs of Egypt. I've seen the derelict homes of squibs burn with the windows boarded up and the squatters inside them. I've seen the houses where muggles cut up the little babies. From coast to shining coast I have walked empty down drooling path..."

"...the decaying flesh of false morality poisoning our children. I have stood atop the mountain of this muddy earth, looking upon our beautiful pious pit, filled to bursting with the vast hands of helplessness. And did you know what I saw? Hell."

Mind Purists

This divergence happens in the times of the Hogwarts Founders and has consequences reaching modern times.

Instead of Salazar Slytherin, it is Rowena Ravenclaw who is driven out of Hogwarts after fighting with the other founders. Rowena believed that those with superior intellect should have a right to eradicate those less bright than them. She did not care if someone was muggleborn or pureblood, as long as they were intelligent enough.

Quite naturally, other founders did not like the idea of executing not only muggles, but wizards as well. Rowena was forcibly removed from the school and left to create her own cult, in which knowledge was celebrated, while ignorance was a capital offense.

As Rowena's dangerous views spread through Britain and eventually the rest of the world, we fast forward to the modern times that is the early 1980s.

British Wizarding society is very different from the one we saw in canon. Blood purity is almost non-existent (except in a few very rare cases), it was instead replaced by intelligence supremacy.

Lady Cognitia, sometimes called You-Know-Who, is waging a war against the British Ministry of Magic. Her loyal soldiers, the Mind Purists are on a quest to murder those suspected of not being smart enough, they call their victims "mudbrains".

Albus Dumbledore and his former apprentice Tom Riddle are leading two resistance groups against the Wise Lady. Albus leads the Order of the Phoenix, while Tom leads a loyal group of followers called the Basilisk Society.

Fortunately for Lady Cognitia, Albus and Tom do not always agree with each other's methods. While Dumbledore prefers diplomacy and defense, Riddle often resorts to violence and darker solutions.

At Hogwarts, being sorted into Ravenclaw can be a sign of two things: either a higher status among students, due to obvious knowledge and intelligence, or it can also mean arrogance, feeling of superiority and a tendency to become cold and unfeeling.

The Game Planet

"Violence is not the answer. Violence is the question and the answer is yes."
The Game Planet has been created by the mysterious Game Gods to be a place where the Game can be played.

What is the Game? The Game is an ongoing battle tournament with new members being added constantly.

The Game never ends, for if someone wins it, it continues for the others.

Fighters, or Players as they are called are kidnapped from various alternate universes and transported to the Game Planet.

Each new Player has an irremovable and yet ever-changing tattoo placed on his body (usually on an arm) which shows his or hers current amount of Points.

Points are the Game Planet's currency.

During their arrival to the Game Planet each player receives a starting amount of 100 Points. At the beginning of each month each player gets additional 50 Points.

However, this is not the only way to get Points.

Points can be gained by defeating other players, which can include killing them.

They can also be gained by completing various tasks given by the Game Gods, these are called Game Quests and are randomly assigned to players. The Player who first completes such a Quest is granted a specified amount of points (for example, a mission involving destroying a certain structure or finding a rare plant).

Points can be exchanged for food, medicine, weapons, clothing, shelter, everyday items and even advice and hints from the Game Gods. Usually, Points are the only way of acquiring these things, as the Game Planet is a cruel and harsh place to live in.

There are hot deserts, poisonous swamps, frosty mountains, jungles filled with deadly animals, underground cave systems and many more locations.

Points cannot be given to other players or taken from them.

When a player is killed, his amount of points is halved and he 'respawns' naked exactly 100 miles from the place of his death.

This makes the Game virtually never-ending unless won.

The only way to win the Game is to get One Million Points. A Player who gets that amount of Points wins the Game and is returned to his home universe and granted a single wish (such as restored youth, riches beyond wildest imaginations and many more possibilities).

Of course, as mentioned before, even if someone wins the Game, it continues for everyone else until they too get a Million Points.

While some Players have abilities which would allow them to leave the Game Planet, such as teleportation, interdimensional travel or just flight, any attempt to leave the Game Planet instantly kills the Player attempting to do so and respawns him back on the surface of the Planet with zero points.

To such a situation a 16 year old Harry Potter wakes up one day, after he discovers that he is not in Gryffindor dormitory but in a forest with wild animals.

Unknown to Harry (at first), these are the people that have been brought with him:

- Queen Elsa
- Darth Vader
- A Yautja Predator
- Pokemon Trainer Red
- Buffy Summers
- The Green Mighty Morphing Power Ranger
- Count Dracula
- Hellboy
- Naruto Uzumaki
- Inspector Gadget
- The Gaul named Obelix
- Slenderman

and many, many more...

The Core of the Issue

The Battle in the Department of Mysteries goes much differently causing Harry and Voldemort to end up being sent to another universe. They arrive each in separate locations, Harry appears at the Dursleys while the Dark Lord appears near Wool's Orphanage (or whatever remains in its place).

There are some problems, though.

It is the year 1991. They're separate entities, meaning there are now two Harrys and two Voldemorts. This is clearly a world very different from what they remember. For one, wizards in this world have strange limits, which they call 'Magical Cores' or some nonsense like that. Harry and Voldemort of course don't have these 'cores' and their magic works like it always did, meaning infinite spells and no 'magical exhaustion'.

So that's the setup, Harry and Voldemort, both sufficiently powered by the fact that their magic doesn't 'run out' in a world where everyone is inherently inferior to them.

A few predictions: Canon!Voldemort will destroy the Core!Voldemort and take his place, there's no room for alliances among the two. Canon!Harry on the other hand, doesn't have the Trace on him as in this universe the Trace works through the magical cores. Harry is simply invisible to most if not all tracking spells (including Homenum Revelio). Of course, Voldemort has this boon as well.

Harry is also older than his AU counterpart, so he may aid him and teach him stuff. He will most definitely contact Dumbledore and attempt to warn him about Voldemort.

This obviously would not be a canon rehash, with Canon!Voldemort having a body and infinite magic as well as Harry as his Horcrux, the Second War starts immediately before Core!Harry's first Hogwarts year.

Why such an idea? Well, I'd like to see a world with magical cores completely owned by canon Harry and Riddle.

Hermione not a Friend

Hermione leaves class before Ron and Harry. As such, she does not hear Ron insulting her. Because he does not comment more on the issue, she attends the rest of the classes and eventually arrives at the Halloween feast.

Ron and Harry do not speak with her during the feast, not really having the strength after her behavior in class.

Quirrell arrives and tells everyone about the troll. Naturally, Dumbledore orders Prefects to take students to their dormitories. Harry, Ron and other Gryffindors go with Percy to their common room. Not having any reason to go after the troll, they don't.

Snape of course suspects Quirrell and prevents him from getting to the Stone. The next day Harry and others learn that the teachers managed to remove the troll from the school.

Harry and Ron are still not friends with Hermione.

During Harry's first Quidditch match, Hermione is absent, having no reason to see the game. Ron and the others don't see Snape muttering and no fires are set to anyone's robes. Harry falls from his broom, though Snape manages to save his life with the Feather-light charm. The Gryffindor luck is still with Harry though, as he manages to catch the Snitch while falling.

Ron sees that Snape has saved Harry and admits that the man can't be that bad.

However, it is obvious to many that something caused Harry's broom to behave in such a way. The boys speak with Hagrid, who has no idea who it might have been. The half-giant lets it slip that he is Fluffy's owner. However, no mention is made of Flamel.

During Christmas, Harry and the Weasleys remain at Hogwarts. Harry gets the Cloak. However, he doesn't have a reason to go at night as he is not searching for Flamel. As such, Harry does not find the Mirror of Erised and does not see his family. He spends time with the Weasleys and even shows the Twins the Cloak, which they declare to be of superb quality. In fact, Harry lets them use the Cloak once and in turn they show him the Marauder's Map (something for something).

After the holidays end and next term begins, Harry notices Snape sneaking towards the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest. He overhears Snape's conversation with Quirrell. Remembering that Snape is on his side, Harry realizes that Snape is suspecting Quirrell of trying to get past Fluffy.

He tells Ron and they go to Hagrid, asking about Quirrell. There they see that Hagrid is raising a dragon. Ron tells that this is highly illegal and that Hagrid might get in trouble.

When Norbert hatches, the boys decide that it would be wise to send him away. Harry employs the services of the twins, knowing about the Map. He gives them the cloak to use and they manage to smuggle Norbert from the school and give him to Charlie. Nobody is caught.

As nobody was caught, nobody gets a detention in the Forbidden Forest. Harry does not encounter Voldemort there and does not meet the centaurs.

A few weeks later, Harry learns from Hagrid that the dragon egg was given to him by a hooded stranger who had asked how to get past Fluffy. Realizing that it may have been Quirrell, Harry decides to swallow his pride and informs Professor Snape. Severus is surprised by this, but orders Harry to go to his common room while he deals with this.

Snape takes McGonagall and Flitwick and goes to confront Quirrell. He is stopped just in time before he can enter the Mirror room. A short fight ensues and Quirrell flees the school. Nobody finds out that it was Voldemort all along. However, when Harry speaks with Dumbledore and tells him that his Scar hurt once when Quirrell was nearby, the Headmaster figures it out.

Harry agrees to keep secret about it, only telling Ron. The redhead is naturally shocked that it was Voldemort and promises not to tell anyone.

The year ends and Slytherin wins the House Cup. Harry and Ron are still not friends with Hermione.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT:

Did you know that all of Lockhart's books are actually porn?

Oh yes, not many people know this, but it's true.

Honestly.

...would I lie to you?

Wandering with Werewolves - Mostly furry stuff.

Break with a Banshee - How Lockhart broke up with his girlfriend because she was too loud.

Gadding with Ghouls - Gilderoy's dive into the macabre. Blood play, sadomasohism. Nasty stuff.

Holidays with Hags - Trying to prove that women are like wine, the older the better.

Magical Me - "Self Help" manual. If you know what I mean.

Marauding with Monsters - Lockhart's quest to compare all the exotic species.

Travels with Trolls - The mentally challenged are not sexually challenged.

Voyages with Vampires - A journal describing Gilderoy's times with a gang of goth swingers.

Year with Yeti - An entire year?! Holy shit, that is some impressive stamina.

Who am I? - A very horrified Lockhart discovers his books after he loses his memory.

You Only Live Twice a Day

Harry lives every day twice. This happens since he defeated Voldemort as a baby.

Naturally, he at first does not notice, being a baby and all. However, as he grows, Harry eventually figures out that things are not as they should be. He at first assumes that everyone has always an extra day and is surprised that this isn't the case.

Of course, being a kid, he uses this to his advantage. He always gets perfect marks at school, knowing the questions ahead of time. He knows if something 'funny' (accidental magic) will happen, so he avoids these situations.

However, think about what this means. Everyone lives each day once, Harry lives through them twice. This means that Harry will be, at least mentally, growing up twice as fast from the point of view of others. By 11, he is going to be 21 years old.

If you thought living for 10 years under Dursleys was bad, what about 20 years?

I cannot stress enough how important and massive this change is. Let me repeat: when Hagrid arrives with Harry's letter, Harry is already an adult, living as a child and not knowing about the magical world. Think of how Harry's Hogwarts years affected his personality growth in the series, now remove all that and replace with even more Dursley Years. You are going to have one bitter, cold and angry Harry Potter. He might even end up a manipulative bastard, playing with chances and people's lives, knowing that he always has one additional day to try things differently.

And what about the Trace? It could go either way, but it might be possible that Harry's trace will simply not work. We have evidence which shows that the Trace is only active after you get to Hogwarts, Harry had his 17th birthday when he was 9. The wizards might think that there is a Trace on Harry, when in reality there isn't.

Of course, there's also the Scar Horcrux to remember. While Voldemort himself is still weak, Harry is going to realize he can speak with snakes and he is going to use this. He might develop an incredible level of control over his accidental magic, using legilimency and other tricks just like young Tom Riddle did. Dudley bullying Harry? Not in this scenario.

So, we have this changed Harry. He's 11/21 years old and his Hogwarts letter arrives. Two decades with his charming relatives taught him a thing or two, so he hides the letter and doesn't tell anyone about it. He reads through it and is surprised about the existence of the magical world.

He confronts Petunia about the letter, wanting to know if his parents were wizards. She lets it slip that yes, they were freaks. She then destroys the letter. Harry of course expected it to happen, so he gets the letter again on his Repeat of the Day.

By chance, he finds out that old Figg knows a thing or two about the magical world. She contacts Albus through the Floo and tells him that Harry is unable to travel to Diagon Alley and did not know about the magical world. Naturally, Dumbledore sends Hagrid.

The Dursleys of course protest when the half-giant arrives, but who cares about what they think. So Hagird meets Harry and discovers a boy that is very different from what he expected. Nonetheless, they travel to Diagon Alley. As this is a different date than in canon, they do not meet Quirell or Malfoy. They do however meet other people. Harry interacts with them twice to find out which of them would be best to be friends with (Repeats are useful, eh?).

There is no way in the seven hells that Harry would end up a Gryffindor. With his overdeveloped manipulations, he is as Slytherin as Slytherins go.

So, Snake house. Malfoy, Snape and the entire charming group of not exactly best people. But, this Harry is not some scared kid, not knowing what to say. He is able to answer all of Snape's questions, knowing them ahead of time. He is never moved by Snape's insults, being too mature for that.

Things are going to be definitely different.

Reverse Insert

"Avada Kedavra!"

I took him only a moment, a splinter of a second, to realize that something went wrong. The Killing Curse backfired on him, he saw a flash of green light before his eyes and felt immense pain as his body was reduced to nothingness.

But, he was not dead. The Horcruxes worked! He felt really proud at that, he had managed to evade death, something few if any could claim to have done.

This sudden feeling of accomplishment was unfortunately dwarfed by the anger, confusion and hate. The damned prophecy! He should have really known better than to act before knowing its full contents. Alas, it was too late now and here he was, well, where exactly was he?

He was not in the Potter house anymore, which was certain. It clearly could not have been the afterlife either, he doubted it actually existed and the fact he still was able to think proved his status among the living. So where was he?

Using the little bits of strength in his self, he managed to get a view of the surrounding area. It was a bedroom so clearly muggle that he felt the usual revulsion present whenever he had to deal with these loathsome creatures. There was a TV, a radio, some basic furniture and as expected, a wooden cross was placed near the door.

At that, he concluded that the Killing Curse must have displaced him to one of the nearby muggle households. This seemed the most plausible theory, at least until he spotted something that gave him pause. There was a calendar on the wall, which while correctly displaying the current date, seemed to have the wrong year. The last he remembered, it was 1981, not 2001.

He willed himself to leave the bedroom through the wall and into the street. He was definitely not in Godric's Hallow, but in London of all places, though it seemed different than he remembered it. He froze in place. Was it possible that he was suspended in time for 20 years?

That would be very problematic at the least and incredibly bad at the worst.

He traveled unnoticed by the muggles, curious by this new London he was seeing. He realized that he was near the place where the Leaky Cauldron was. Or rather, where it should have been as it was not present. That was confusing and a little terrifying. Nevertheless, he ventured forth through the wall, determined to enter the Diagon Alley.

But much to his disappointment, the Alley was not present either. Something was definitely very wrong here. He needed some answers, but for that he required a working body. Preferably a wizard, but seeing that none were around, he was forced to shame himself.

He attached himself to a nearby muggle boy, probably around the age of ten. The child's young mind only briefly resisted before being completely taken over by his own. With a wizard it would not have been as easy, magical people had certain protections against such easy invasions, not to mention those skilled with Occlumency. But possessing a muggle? It was effortless.

In the following burst of memories, he saw something that immediately captured his full attention. The boy, whose name was Adam as it turned out, had a memory of seeing a certain movie in the cinema recently. It was called "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone".

And for the first time in many years, the only thing Lord Voldemort could think was: What?

Hah, he's lucky that the internet in 2001 wasn't as extensive as in 2015. I shudder to think about a Voldemort who knows of things like 4chan.

Temporal Disruptions

This world is a mess. Dimension travelers should avoid it, unless they are extremely brave or wish to die a very painful death. It all started sometime during the 1800s, when first Time Turners were invented. Due to some political pressure of several high-ranking ICW members, a law was written. This law states that every witch or wizard with at least one magical parent has a right to own a Time Turner.

It was reasoned that if magical people are trusted with wands which can manipulate most of reality, then having an object which manipulates time wouldn't create any serious problems. Time Turners were mass-produced and then sold across the magical society. It took all but two weeks before the first Disruptions happened.

A Disruption happens whenever a Time Paradox occurs or if someone uses more than one Time Turner at a time. This results in the surrounding area being 'out-timed' which means its capability of having a stable time-stream is erased. But what does this actually do? It makes matter shift in time at random. For example a bird flies through a Disrupted area in 1354 and flies out in 2725. Or a wizard Apparates into a Disrupted area in 1991 and finds himself during the Stone Age.

It took the magical world around ten full years to notice the existence of Disruptions, but by then it was too late. People (both magical and muggle) from past and future were randomly displaced, as some Disruptions were the size of several square miles (Disruptions grow when a Time Turner is used within them).

People were un-birthed, only for several alternate versions of them to appear. Doppelgangers were created, entire species of animals disappeared, while random previously unknown ones appeared. History was irreparably damaged. Muggle jet fighters in Ancient Egypt, Napoleon leading his army against Hitler, Grindelwald fighting seven different versions of Voldemort...

And it didn't stop there, soon things deteriorated even more, with the very planet being affected. Continents shifted in wrong directions, weather raged in increasingly changing ways, day and night became indistinguishable...

A dimension traveler hopping into this world is surely doomed, for even if he manages to escape in one piece, he'll end up in a completely random time period anyway.

Temporal Disruptions

Liking the apocalypse on general principle, but where's the story? The way it's written, it's really only suitable as a mechanism for enabling crossovers between other fandoms. Specifically, by hurling characters from polities with interdimensional travel far beyond the universes they have explored. Like sending Nanoha into Warhammer 40K, for example.

That is why I wrote a warning discouraging dimension travelers from accessing this particular AU ;)

A Knight Among Us

Down in the Chamber of Secrets when Tom Riddle is destroyed, my character from Tibia is transported to the scene. However, in this universe she isn't the main hero, Harry Potter is. Now this Knight will have to find a place for herself in this strange world of witchcraft and wizadry.

In the Tibian Universe, many heroes fight with the Archdemon Orshabaal, on the Premium island of Edron. Knight Andrela Astraan attempts to perform the act of teleportation, a very illegal thing to do. As she activates the powers needed to transport herself, Orshabaal is killed at the very same moment.

Meanwhile in the Potterverse, Harry Potter stabs the Diary with the basilisk's fang, destroying the Horcrux and Tom Riddle with it.

Due to the fact that both Orshabaal and Tom Riddle died at the same moment Andrela was teleported, the knight appears in the Chamber, transported across realities.

She does not understand what is going on and where she is. Harry is startled and shocked as well. Andrela, not seeing an easy way out, decides to approach the boy peacefully.

They both have no idea what has happened, but as Harry mentions that Dumbledore is "The most powerful wizard in the World", Andrela is willing to meet the Headmaster.

Of course, Andrel would not attend Hogwarts. She's not a child and most importantly, she's a Knight and not a Sorcerer. She'd have to find a place for herself outside the school.

Perhaps when she hears that a dangerous murderer named Sirius Black is after Harry, she decides to use her unique abilities to hunt him down...

Some differences between Tibia and Earth, plus Andrela's reactions to them:

- There are no children in Tibia. People appear from nothingness, already being 20 years old, but having no memories about anything except basic survival skills. Andrela therefore assumes that Earth children are dwarves.

- Linking to the above, people in Tibia can have sex, but nobody gets pregnant. Also, they don't have belly buttons.

- People in Tibia can know someone's name and vocation just by looking at them. Andrela already assumes everyone knows her name, and is confused when that isn't the case.

- They can also instantly identify all items by just looking at them. Andrela would know that a House Elf is a House Elf because she has looked at it and immediately knew what it is called.

- People in Tibia don't stay dead, instead they respawn at their temple with their level reduced, when Andrela hears that on Earth people stay dead, she is shaken and terrified.

- People in Tibia can 'log out' except during or immediately after a battle. It means that they disappear into mist for a certain amount of time and reappear back in the same place after that time passed. When they are 'logged out' they have no idea what is happening in their absence.

- The Tibian language is mainly English but also has many elements of Polish, German, Spanish and Portuguese. Andrela is surprised that these are separate languages on Earth.

- While people in Tibia don't stay dead, neither do the various monsters, making Tibia a place of eternal war. Andrela is disturbed and shocked that this isn't the case on Earth, commenting that Earth seems 'just too peaceful', even counting Hogwarts weirdness.

- For wizards, Apparition is an everyday thing. For Andrela, teleportation has been highly illegal her entire life.

- Wizards of the Potterverse don't rely on mana or any other such limits. They could cast all the spells they want and as many of them possible. Andrela thinks that this is incredibly unfair.

- All ghosts Andrela met were violent, terrible creatures. Here, they're harmless.

- To Andrela, goblins are extremely violent, stupid and green. Obviously not the case here.

- Dragons in her world are sentient, but always evil. Here, they're just beasts.

- In Tibia, there are Free Citizens (regulars) and Premium Citizens. The Premium are basically ultra-rich who have literally paid the gods for a different fate. Premium citizens can use stronger magics, they can visit other continents, they can own houses, they can do a lot. To put it in real-world terms, a Free Citizen is homeless, jobless and unlucky, while the Premium Citizen can own a castle, has tons of gold and somehow luck is always on his side.

- Andrela was a Premium Citizen for a while because she bought herself the status. However, when the time run out, her home was taken away from her, the Premium spells no longer work for her and she was not allowed to leave her home continent. This caused her to slowly develop a strong hatred for the gods.

Dark Universe - Good guys are bad, bad guys are even worse.

A dark, twisted caricature of the Potterverse.

It all begins in 1945 during Dumbledore's duel with Grindelwald. Temptation proves just too strong for Albus and he kills Gellert. Becoming the new master of the Elder Wand, he begins a quest for gathering the Hallows. It takes him some time, but he eventually does so two years later. He forcibly takes the Ring from his former student Tom Riddle and nearly kills the young man in Albania. He then cheats the Potters from the Cloak. Uniting all the Hallows, Albus becomes the Master of Death. Shortly after, he becomes the Minister of Magic. He does not become the Headmaster of Hogwarts though.

Lord Voldemort however rejoices in his hideout. That foolish old man willingly put the Dark Lord's Horcrux on his own finger. Knowing that thanks to Dumbledore's considerable skill, the Horcrux shall be well protected, Riddle increases his efforts to gain power. However, Albus' presence in the UK proves too problematic, so Voldemort instead begins gathering power in Albania and other nearby countries.

In canon, Dumbledore's nice and good nature influenced many wizards, it did so as well in this world, though differently.

Dark Magic is legal and not considered taboo. The Unforgivable Curses are legal as well.

Alastor Moody, a Dark Wizard and the head of the Departament of Magical Law Enforcement is Dumbledore's lap dog and a secret assassin. He offers no mercy to his targets, Dumbledore approves.

The current Headmistress of Hogwarts is one Minerva McGonagall. Known for her undying loyalty to Minister Dumbledore and her draconian ways of running the school. The whips and chains in the dungeons are very frequently used. There shall be no rule breaking in the school.

Nymphadora Tonks is considered a Witch of Interest to the DMLE. Certain sources suggest that she is a Metamorphmagus. Such an ability could prove very useful to the Ministry. Such a shame then, that Nymphadore would never even consider law enforcement. Serial killers rarely do. You see, Nymphadora is obsessed with the lives of others. She spies on her targets, learns everything she can about them and then after killing them, lives their lives until she is bored with them.

Despite being kept out of Britain, Dark Lord Voldemort managed to gain quite a few followers in the UK. The Black Brothers (Sirius and Regulus) are among his most faithful servants. Peter Pettigrew was once considered for recruitment, however his tendency to rape women was just too problematic. It wouldn't be a problem if this was limited to mudbloods and muggles, but Wormtail also helped himself to healthy pureblood daughters, which annoyed the likes of Lucius Malfoy just too much. Severus Snape gladly used Pettigrew's body parts as potion ingredients. The most disturbing thing about the Death Eaters is the source of their name: they cannibalize their victims.

The story of the Lovegood Family is a tragic one and it is all Xenophilius' fault. Being a borderline, violently insane man caused him to perform some disgusting and vile acts. He physically and magically abused his wife until she eventually could not take it anymore and killed herself. Without his favorite prey, Xenophilius moved to Luna. The poor girl was sexually abused by her despicable mockery of a father. Her sanity was eventually lost forever. Luna is now a sadomasochist and not someone to be around when her wild magic breaks loose.

Gilderoy Lockhart is not a famed writer or an adventurer in this world. Instead, his high proficiency with memory charms proved extremely useful in making Muggles forget he ever robbed them of all their possessions. Yes, Gilderoy is very rich. The lack of muggle-protection laws makes it very easy.

Though while in Britain muggles are not protected, muggleborns are still allowed to enter the magical world. They just need to know their place. However, the situation is not as bright in areas dominated by Lord Voldemort (most of Eastern Europe). There, muggleborns are murdered upon discovery.

The Weasley family has made quite the career in the muggle world, with the generous use of the Imperius Curse, Love Potions and other interesting applications of magic. While they make sure that no muggle actually knows about the existence of magic, they have no problems living like kings. Arthur owns a few factories, while all his children are spoiled rotten.

Werewolves are among the more dangerous servants of Voldemort. They are supposedly led by one of the more violent ones, one Remus Lupin. Though this is hard to confirm given that nobody except the Dark Lord himself ever returned alive from their territory.

The Potters are fairly unpleasant people. In her school years, Lily was a social queen, always demanding all attention to herself. She kept all other girls under her foot and ruled them with an iron fist. Some rumors claim that Lily murdered her own sister, but this is unconfirmed by official sources. James was a sadistic bully and enjoyed making the lives of others miserable, he fed on their misery. After they graduated and married, they only got one child, a son named Harry.

Harry grew up spoiled by his parents, became a bully like his father and a manipulator like his mother. When he got to Hogwarts, he ruthlessly took over the other students and just like his parents made sure that he had loyal servants. Many of them take the blame when Harry causes some trouble. One Colin Creevey has been expelled when he took the blame after Harry set the Forbidden Forest on fire.

Among Harry's most fervent followers is one Hermione Granger, accused of casting the Imperius Curse on her strongly-religious parents after they attempted to prevent her from going to Hogwarts.

And then, in 1997, Canon Harry appears in this terrible world.
