Xander [Quest], Thread Twelve: Talking To Yourself

Hmm. Speaking of Lu-Sensei's reaction to the Golden Goddesses, we never actually told him how important Ganondorf was. We played it down so that he was just a dark wizard that tried to take over a kingdom. I think Lu-Sense is starting to understand just how important and powerful Alex is (even more so), but I have to wonder what his reaction would be if we told him that Ganondorf is known as Demon King of Evil in Hyrule.

Anyway, probably a discussion for the next thread given the length here, but I think he may be putting together the dots a little bit more. I'm not advocating for or against actually telling him yet, but we should be aware he doesn't actually know.

[X] You'd rather avoid further encounters with the Winter Court, at least for now. Accept that Prize Fighter is not an option, and move on to the matter of telling your parents about the supernatural.

No, I want to banish demons and kill vampires with a firelance. Or whatever fits best. Not with puny fists.
And I want to be able to discuss with the local bookworms afterwards and go visit comic/SF conventions, which won't work out if the only thing we do is train physical combat, spiritual defenses and general mental prowess.
I also definitely do not want to lose every single bit of choice at the next timeskip due to having half the slots filled by nobrainers and half the slots by priorities.

Let's not give up the last free slot on a priority that isn't even leading to a very interesting way.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but this is an inaccurate summation of the vote.

OOC: To be clear, this isn't a vote to accept the Priority or to lock it out. It's just that if Alex accepts Lu-sensei's reasoning now, it'll be harder to get the master's support if Alex wants to take the Priority in the future.
I'm not sure how far into the future this will apply, but it could be a very long time until Lu-Sensei changes his mind. We may be ridiculously powerful, but we're still eight and we made the enemy of fae that we absolutely know are organized and stronger than us, which is not a good position to be in.

That's because it's an answer to GhostKing 666's question about wanting to fight the tournaments.

Also, page 99! Everyone slow down posting, please.
Please give Judge a chance to get a link to the new thread in before it gets locked this time.

There are more important things to be doing with our time, unfortunately.
Do remember that the choice isn't about accepting it as a new priority, its about accepting Lu's reasoning about the risks related to the Winter Court and the tourneys, if we bow now to it then getting the prize fighter priority will be harder in the future because we will have a harder time convincing Lu-sensei to allow us to compete. Besides, backing down here vs. taking a stand might have deeper implications then just the priority, there could be connections to our skills related to this choice that we might want to consider further then simply down vote this.

Until we're capable of defending our family long enough for help to arrive, we need to keep our head down, at least in Sunnydale.

If thats true, and I suspect you may be right i'm perfectly fine with Lu spending more time on teaching us less combat stuff and more of the protective side of the things.

With magic we already have ridiculous fire power for an eight year old. I'd love to shore up our defences and get better with our various sensory and spiritual abilities.

Improving our control and concealment skills and focusing on improving our ability to read opponents and their intentions would still be very useful to us.

We're not planning on the Prize Fighter priority, Lu-sensei makes a valid point, and this will probably help mitigate his annoyance over us getting in mortal peril again.

So it's harder to switch to an option I don't want... it's a nobrainer, really. *shrugs*

Then would it not behoove us to make encounters with the Winter Court more likely to occur if we wish for such techniques? Here on the Hellmouth, it is needed less since the Fae keep away from the thing, thus there is a lower need for their instruction. If we show a willingness to go out and possible risk future encounters, then Lu-sensei maybe more willing to properly arm Alex with the needed skills to face and/or evade the Fae.

[X] As the younger Fae that were there never saw us or are magic only a indirectly summoned creature I don't think they have anything to tie me to that situation.

-- [x] but point out that you want to tournaments before your 15.

one of those " right now, your right, but in the future..." deals
