Xander [Quest], Thread Four: You are the (Under Tens Division) Champion of the World

[X] Yes, it's fine. You'll learn, and teach, better with more mana.
-[X] "So all of this was set off by that guy that had an aura that reminded me or a rabid dog? That Ryu guy and your son are alright though?"
-[X] Ask Ambrose about magic training.

[X] Yes, it's fine. You'll learn, and teach, better with more mana.
[X] Maybe talk to Ambrose - with Altria between you and him at all times

What makes you guys think that Ambrose is going to pay any more attention to us this time than he did the last few times? He's an utter troll. He'll get to us when he has time, but he's going to do anything and everything he can to annoy us until then. It's not worth the aggravation.

[X] Yes, it's fine. You'll learn, and teach, better with more mana.
-[X] No, you're good.
-[X] Complain to Ambrose about his seal not stopping that dream snoop.

[x] exchanging techniques tomorrow is fine

[x] talk to Ambrose about proper training / books that would be helpful

Except you are also saying the seal is insufficient, which is just asking for him to improve it. Why in the world are you guys taunting Merlin? Do you have any reason at all for thinking that that will end well?
Because the reason for the seal is not to stop us from doing magic per se. It's to stop us from getting into bargains with evil spirits / gods / demons we aren't prepared for. It even includes protection against those entities.

My vote has us just talking to him, which can include just talking to him about how long Altria will get to stay in Japan now that the tournament is over - and also keeping Altria between us and Ambrose at all times.

Also?
Ambrose knows what's going on with the seal - he's LOOKed at us several times now.

Were they able to track down one of the lizards folk? Particularly one with several broken arms?
No reason, it not like I'm going to track it down a do horrible things to it for daring to hurt my friend.

Also talk to Ambrose about magic sometime.

-[X] "So all of this was set off by that guy that had an aura that reminded me or a rabid dog? That Ryu guy and your son are alright though?" and "do you have a description of the appearance of the larger creature? Briar's description of the lizards suggested that they are similar to a creature from a reality the two of us are familiar with so I'm a bit curious if the larger one is like something from that realm as well."

Thing is... we need Lu-Sensei and the Shuzens to weigh in to make Ambrose take us seriously. He may be a troll, but he's an intelligent troll-- he won't fuck with us overtly and earn the ire of mystical badasses for cheap laughs (whatever shenanigans he got up to in the source material notwithstanding, as I would assume that Judge has improved his Competence this time around). He wouldn't have much issue with screwing with us, though.

Offering to teach the Divination spell is a good idea. It's more valuable than the Giant spell, really, and might be enough to get some other techniques on the table.

After all, we only need an adult to demonstrate their tricks, including basic ones like ki recovery and control, with their ki concealment turned off, and our ki sight gives us a massive advantage on learning. As a result, it costs them very little.

I'm with everyone else that we need to at least talk to Ambrose; look, people, he has already done the LOOK thing several times now (he even did it after we regained mana after he put the seal on us in the first place).
He has to know what's been going on with the bind he put on us, given he is, frankly, ridiculously better than us at magic at this point.

And he did say he's coming to check up on us in Sunnydale as well.

All right, first order of business. While making time to take care of teaching Ayane tomorrow may cause issues, there are a variety of compelling reasons to do so. Most prominent of all is that if for some reason the trade cannot be made tomorrow, Ayane's sensei apparently desires the enlargement technique enough to go out of his way for it. Ayane may end up on a trip to see us if that is the case.
I would very much like this, myself; it'd do Ayane good to have a friendly face outside of the "almost every other kid hates me" clan.
And, hell, it'd to us good to keep in contact with a nice organization of supernatural fighters as well, if for no other reason than because we might want to hire some in the future (you know, when we get our own group going).
As the clan is currently indebted to us rather heavily (saved the lives of the clan leader, and his wife's 'friend') that would all but assure future interactions with them.
I just want to note...
But we also ended up saving the wife of the clan leader, Ayame, and Kasumi, in addition to everything else (the defenders were getting slowly worn down, and couldn't move, so it would only have been a matter of time before they had been defeated - which means we also saved the life of Altria).

...Wait, crap, will we still be able to buy an unedited version of the tournament fights?
We sort of need that to show our parents, at the very least.

Good thing this literally has nothing to do with the vote then hey~! ;)

Books names, instruction contacts, internet sites, basic advice. It would take about 20 minutes then we would be out of his hair after that until the next tournament rather then following through and having to see about setting up a tutor for us like he had said he would before. ;)
Err, Ambrose said he'll come and check up on us - I don't think he's going to give up on that just due to possibly giving some information.
...At least, I hope not, because I'd really like him as our magic teacher, since we badly need one and the only other option in Sunnydale is something I don't want to touch.

Hey, we could always offer to have Lu-sensei teach Altria some ki techniques during the next time he comes to meet us; Ambrose might be good at magic, but I'm willing to bet he doesn't hold a candle against Lu-sensei when it comes to ki teaching.

On the other hand, if it wasn't for us, Altria wouldn't have been there in the first place.

On the third hand, if it hadn't been for us, she'd have been eaten by a shadow beast that can eat ki (or would have not found out about the dragon thing, nor been able to talk to the ninjas to stop them from being suspicious of her) - or ran straight up to Beryl and been mindcontrolled, since we had to offer going to the ninjas as a distraction.
On the whole, I say we have come up on the plus when it comes to "help keep Altria safe", which has to count for something.
