I don't remember her being a slave.

I'm pretty sure she was the daughter of a rich guy, who got it for her. Then she screwed up and killed thousands.

As I understand it, she was a daughter of a rich guy, and her father's enemies slipped the contents of a vial into her drink, hoping she'd mutate horribly and embarrass him.

...This probably makes more sense to someone who's rich. I'd think that if my daughter turned into a monster, I'd have bigger things to worry about.

I thought that was Burnscar

Also man those guys didn't really think that plan through, the real danger of triggers may as well be the paranoia regarding what Superpower Lottery they manage to win

So Kent has had powers for 21 years now, did he reach a limit yet or is it still growing and what does everyone think about him so far.

This is correct - at least according to the deleted Interlude, though that's of dubious canonocity.

She hummed, swaying to a song only she could hear as she swept the floor. Her semi-meditative ritual, however, was interrupted by the sound of her phone ringing. She glanced at the caller ID and rolled her eyes as she picked it up.

"Heya, Jess," she said. "I'm guessing this is about my latest patient?"

"How did you ever guess?" Jessica Yamada asked dryly. "The Butcher is dangerous." She rolled her eyes. They had been friends since college, and somewhere along the line, Jess had picked up a habit of trying to mother her.

"I work at Belle Reve," she interrupted. "All my patients are dangerous."

"I know," Jessica replied. "I still wish you'd consider a transfer."

"Listen, Jess," she said, "parahumans have issues. You know that. I know that. Everyone knows that. Most people just want to either put them on pedestals or write them off entirely, but I'm making a difference here. We've got top notch technology and cells specifically designed to contain each inmate; the Butcher's no different."

"I know," Jessica said softly. "I just worry about you. I don't think the Butcher's someone you can reach. He's... not like most."

"Exactly!" she said excitedly. "The Butcher's atypical psychology might just provide the breakthrough I'm looking for on parahuman tendencies toward conflict!"

Jessica sighed. "All right. Just... be careful, Harleen."

"Always."

A/N: Exact placement in the timeline is uncertain, but should be around that time frame.

Harleen Quinzel? Good, my first guess was actually Hugette Strange, especially with the scientific interest she shows on the butcher in the last paragraph. Harleen is more of a I really want to understand (and love) him that a pure researcher, even if deep down both are completely dimissive of the rules of good medical practice.

Oh goddammit ... this will not go well.
Either she becomes second in command of the Teeth, or she ends up being the Butcher. And really, the Butcher's way of existing is really in line with the more esoteric in-universe explanations for Joker Immunity. Unless you write like a certain Scottish Wizard and are willing to demolish the Fourth Wall and pave a highway over it.

Fanart!
Well, it's been 8 days so I don't think this counts as a double post ...curse SV's rather quiet readership...

So I've had an urge to do some fan-art for you Cyclone, so I made two versions of Bat-Grue. One with Trunks and one without. Personally I think the no-trunks works better. In spoilers because they are large images.
There are things that aren't perfect about them; The neck piece goes under the Bat symbol but that was the only way for this one to work, and the Bat symbol itself is actually a stretched Nightwing symbol and four triangles. I tried to get it in the oval, but that would require making the oval huge or the pieces of the bat too small to work. Still, it's Bat-Grue!

...I've actually been meaning to make those for a while, just never had the time.
I like the trunks version better.
No Trunks makes sense from a logical perspective in-universe, as the circus strong man is basically gone, but as I glance through my DeviantArt page... yeah, it feels more right.

I will admit though that on DeviantArt, it's labeled as Earth-23 Batman Redesign. Figured I could kill two birds with one stone by doing Bat-Grue and making that Batman match the rest of his universe.

Secret Origins: Dark Vengeance
So, this little scene was originally planned for a future "state of the world" interlude, probably somewhere around the end of Darkness Rising arc 5/With Great Power arc 2.

But I got bored, so here. Enjoy.

She stood tall on the precipice, not just of the roof she currently occupied, but of a truly momentous occasion, one which would change her life forever. A gust in the wind blew through the night air, and she brushed a lock of red hair out of her face as she contemplated the events that had brought her to this moment, on the edge of uncertainty. Still, she faced the future unafrai-

She closed her eyes. Oh, who am I kidding? she thought. I'm terrified.

A scream pierced the night. Her eyes snapped open, and she froze. Okay, she thought, squaring her shoulders. I can do this. With a quick bounce, she was gone, and a moment later, she was diving down into an alley toward the mugging below, her chosen battle cry on her lips.

"Darrrk vennngeance!"

Oh. I still fondly remember how irritated Barbara was with her when she discovered her not too subtle attempts at heroism...

At least she has a power that makes her rather less likely to end up dead from her general lack of preparation and competence.

EDIT: If she still has the same power or powers, anyway.
