Prologue 1.9 Chat and Prep

"Fubuki, Murakumo, you two on mortars?" You say as you walk together with the two ship girls down the stairs.

"Y-yes Sir. We didn't get our riggings in time, so Nagato decided we should support everyone with the mortars. Though we don't know really how to work them, We'll do our best." Fubuki answers in a happy tone but her body posture is weak. Since she's facing away from you, you can't see her face, but earlier you saw some tear streaks from her face.

"This is unacceptable. We're ships, not some grunt who fights on land." Murakumo says while giving you a no offense look. "Especially against Abyssals, we should be out there at sea taking them out than letting them come here. I mean that's what they told us during training, that we're needed out there, but here we are being near useless." Murakumo vents out her frustrations with a tired voice. "Its not like training at all..."

You three reach the first floor and find two 60mm mortars from the supplies. Together you all pack them to transport them on the second floor. Not wanting Murakumo to continue, you speak, "Listen up, I'm going to give you two a quick tutorial on mortars. You know how artillery works, it'll be just a little different from what you're use to."

"Really?" Fubuki replies, a bit happier in her tone. Murakumo has a slight smile on her face but once she sees that you looking at her she looks away.

"At least it'll be good for you Fubuki. You'll be standing still this time than surfing the ocean on your body."

"EH, you promised that you wouldn't speak of it!"

"I only promised to not mention your face hitting the pole after you did 3 front flips."

"EH!" Fubuki is madly blushing at this point while Murakumo is smiling happily.

Reaching their deployment spot, you start training them right away in firing smoke down south and letting get a feel on how mortars work. Murakumo picks up quickly and can be accurate within 50 meters. Fubuki meanwhile is off by 100m. The training more or less pays off, you confident that they can support better than they could before.

The barricade, if you could call it that, is just a lot of barb wiring. With the help of Akiyama, Sakamoto and Perrine, you cover the east and west flanks to make it much more difficult for the to flank you. You're aware that Perrine gives you some glares once in awhile, usually when you are near Sakamoto but you ignore them. The airfield section has places that could be cover fenced, while the open areas have zigzags to create funnels. It'll be a turkey shoot for sure.

When you return, you grab your equipment and set up to the right side of the Panzer IV away from any possible backblast injuries. You see the Witches and ship girls are in place and do a final weapon check. You hear the sounds of weapons being reloaded and cocked.

You finish setting up by placing some boxes of rockets near your position so you don't have to lug around too many.

Inventory: M3 Carl Gustav 84mm HEDP+3 Rockets, M202 66mm HEDP, M1911C+4 7 round mags, medkit, Headset, glasses, body armor, E-tool, Khurki, utility tool. Crates of Rockets, ~30 84mm HEDP and 12 66mm HEDP.

You're all set up and have some time left over so you get up on the Pazner. Knocking on the turrent, Nishizumi open her hatch, " Sergeant major, what's up?"

"Just checking up on you. Mind if I get inside?"

"No at all." She closes her hatch in a short moment opens the loader's. You take your combat pack off and slip into the tank. Inside the girls greet you and you take up the loader spot. A bit cramp, but you're 6'2" (~188 cm) so that's to be expected.

"So, how's everything? You all doing okay?"

"I'm ready to rumble Sergeant major. We'll stop them before they get close." Akiyama, beaming with confidence, says to you.

"No problems over here." Isuzu calls out from the driver's spot.

"Oh one thing, what radio channel are we suppose to use?" Takebe asks you. You crouch to look over at the radio operator's station to see what radio they have.

"For now that radio's on the right frequency so don't change it. That's local, so everyone here will hear it. Command will be on a different transmission so you don't need to worry about it." You give a thumbs up and she returns one.

Sitting back on the loader's seat, you look at Nishizumi who's somewhat pale. You whisper, "Something up?"

She looks at you and you get a glimpse of the thousand yard stare from her. She motions you to closer so she can whisper. "I'm afraid. I've never fought in a real battle before this. I just did Tankery matches but I messed up when I was a leader." From the corner of your eye you can see she's almost crying. "I don't know if I can do this..."

"Nishizumi." You whisper to stop her from carrying on, "I have a simple job for you. I want you to make sure that this tank continues to fire everything at the Abyssals. The others will be doing the same so I don't expect anything less. You have Witches and ship girls covering your back. You are not alone, if you need me I'll be to your right so call me if you need to. Okay?"

She has a bit more life in her eyes when she answers, "Yes."

"Good. (English)Get some today girls." You leave the tank and overhear they're making some small talk when you close the hatch.

You get into position when the headset goes live. "Hitman 1, Reaper 2 is on station. We see the hostiles beginning to surface. Requesting ROE (Rules of Engagement), over."

Choices:
2 Reapers - 4x Hellfires, 2 500lbs JDAMs Per Drone.

History 1.0
I still feel like writing so History Time. Follows our history till the 1900s with minor divergences.

USA - 20th Century History, Summarized

1901 - Neuroi Incursion. During the month of July, UFOs (later idenefied as Neuroi) flew over Korea, Japan, and Russian airspace. Japan and Russians declare war on one another. It wasn't until the Neuroi engage both armies that both sides quickly order a truce. Fighting continues till the next year.
1902 - Neuroi are not seen after the month of February. Expected 0 losses from Neuroi. Japan and Russian Forces are mostly decimated, peace treaty signed followed by an alliance. Japan leaves holdings of China and Korea. Korea gained independence, China regains lost territory.
1905 - Abyssal ships are seen off the east coast of the United States. Naval forces are engaged by Abyssal. No ships are lost on either side, Abyssal ships break off.
1914 - World War I starts, July 28. Allies Vs. Central Powers begin to fight one another. One Neuroi appears in December and blitzes both sides' armies. Continuous fighting between all sides. Neuroi only appears once a year.
1918 - November 11, WWI ends. Neuroi cripples both sides due to airstrikes. Once USA comes in, effectively forces Central powers to sign a peace. Alliance is reformed to fight Neuroi. League of Nations Formed, USA fail to join. Neuroi are rarely seen, estimated 1 every 2-3 years. Several Treaties are signed. Russian Revolution, Russian Federation formed by December.
1921 - Abyssal are seen on the west coast of USA. Naval Forces again engage, both sides take minor damage, Abyssal break again.
1930 - Abyssal and Neuroi fight over the English channel, heavy losses on both ends. French, English and German Navies respond and eliminate the remaining forces, heavy casualties on their end but no ships lost.
1936 - USA navy engages Abyssal amphibious forces trying to land on both coasts. Heavy losses, Abyssal forces decimated. USA reorganizes military assets and R&D priorities.
1939 - World War II starts. Axis Powers (-Japan) break alliance and Neuroi seemingly ally with them. Neuroi mostly on the African front. Majority of Europe declare war on Axis.
1940 - USA, Japan, China and Russian Navies on the Pacific are engaged by Abyssal forces. The three create the PDI (Pacific Defense Initiative), USA, China and Japan join Allies.
1941 - German Civil War, Loyalists vs. Nazis. Loyalists contact allies, alliance is formed. Abyssal ships are seen in the Mediterranean.
1944 - Loyalists win. Other Axis countries surrender. United Nations created. Official declaration of War against Neuroi. Ideas of School Ships arise from this time.
1945 - January, Neuroi retreat, unknown where. August, Abyssal try to amphibious assault on Japan. Ends in Japanese victory. Sensho-do, Tankery, come to popularity when women use tanks to defend their homes. Abyssal retreat.
1946 - The discovery of mana/magic technology comes too late to be useful, ideas are on the backburner of R&D.

"Reaper 1 and 2, I want you to hold your fire till you see either a weak point when they dismount or when they get on the beach. JDAMs on infantry, Hellfires on the heavy stuff. Also I need you to do corrections on mortars, over."

"Reaper copies all, out."

You click your button on your radio for the local channel."Fubuki, Murakumo. Supercharge, 3000 meters. Prepare to fire. The Reapers will correct us."

"Yes! Sergeant major." Fubuki replies and you hear the prepping of the rounds.

"Ooi, Kikakami, you're to engage them when they begin to run across the airfield. Got it?"

"Aye Aye Sir." Kikakami says in a monotone voice.

"Hitman 1, Reaper has spotted 2 'salmons' and 5 'Whales'. The medium ones. We still see more surfacing, over."

{'Salmon' light submarine transport, carries an average of 20-40 Abyssal infantry, very weak armor; RHA of 30mm front, 10mm everywhere else. no armaments, about 30 feet (~9m) in length, 20 feet (~6) in width, 25 feet (~8m) in height.}
{'Whales' medium amphibious assault submarine walking IFV thing. ~50ft (~15m) in length, 30ft (~9m) in width, 20ft (~6m) in height. Armed with 1 twin 37mm front mouth cannons and 3 20mm AA guns placed on its sides and top. Medium armor, RHA spaced 150mm front, 75mm sides/top/bottom, 45mm rear. Can carry ~70-120 abyssal infantry.}
{Abyssal Infantry is the cannon fodder and the main ground force in any land operations. They are equipped with either their old bolt-action rifles, or their copy of the M249, both in 5X35mm. They resemble humans somewhat. The basic grunt is 8 feet tall, extremely thin arms and legs, has a black metallic skin, and lacks a head. Their upper tier 'leader' are mostly the same but is 10 feet tall and has 2mm of armor around their main body.}

"You have your ROE Reaper, out." You look up and see several Hellfires leave a trail across the sky. It takes an average two Hellfires to kill a 'Whale'.

You wait a few moment before hearing the distant booms and the accompanying mushroom clouds. "Hitman, 4 'Whales' and 4 'Salmons' sunk. We tally the rest of the surfaced ships as 1 'Whale' and 4 'Salmons'. No more Abyssal subs detected. Reaper one will RTB while Reaper two will provide observation, over."

"Roger, thanks for the assist, out." You do a quick math of the enemy composition, 120+(4X40)=280 infantry at most. "Mortars, start firing! Wilcke you're on corrections." They sent a regiment just to take an abandoned island, the crazy monsters.

"YES!" The mortars start making their launching noises. It takes a while till you hear the distant thunder. You lower your headset so that you can't hear the corrections on the radio. Instead you just sit down to listen in on the distant explosions and the flying mortars. You wait about 5 minutes before going back into the building to grab a spare MG3 and setting it near your other weapons. Taking the M3, you make sure its loaded and readjust your headset.

Once its in place, you hear the 140mms above you roar. You see that they're hitting the 'Whale' which is barely silhouetting over the trees at the southern edge of the airfield, the HE sends shock-waves enough to be felt at your location. From the southeast to the southwest you can see Abyssal are regrouping to charge.

You look to your left and see Nishizumi out of the Panzer with a shocked expression. You mount the tank and start shaking her. "Nishizumi, Nishizumi, NISHIZUMI GET IN! WE'RE IN CONTACT!" She stares at you blankly for a moment when a bullet hits the front of the tank. "I NEED YOU NOW!" She finally snap out it and ducks back into the Panzer.

You get behind the turret and look up to see that the 140mms go silent. "Um Sergeant major, we're out of ammo but we disable that thing, I think." Kitakami says nervously. You take a peek above the turret and see that the 'Whale' is smoking but are unable to see if it is truly dead.

You use the scope on the M3 to get a better sight on the 'Whale'. Its smoking and its 20mms are definitely destroyed, but whether its been disable is up in the air. For now it has stopped moving which is good enough. You start sweeping for groups of infantry bunched up, worthy to be hammered by a 84mm. You spot a group of ten when you hear chatter on the radio.

Fubuki, "That's a lot of them..."
Murakumo, "Yeah..."
Miyafuji, "We'll be okay right?"
Litvyak, "Eila, what does the card say?"
Juutilainen, "Uh, its the fool so..."
Barkhorn, "Why are you playing cards right now!?"
Hartmann, "It must mean we'll have potatoes when we get back."
Yeager, "I don't think that's right."
Sakamoto, "Pay attention! There's no point in being afraid when we're facing the enemy!"

"ATTENTION!" You shout using the radio. The girls promptly quiet down. "REPEAT AFTER ME. TORA TORA TORA!"

"TORRA TORA TORA!" You only hear some of them say it out loud.

You let go of your headset's clicker, "I CAN'T HEAR YOU! TORA TORA TORA!"

"TORA TORA TORA!" You can pick up everyone's voices, even the ones in the Panzer.

"ALL TOGETHER NOW!" You set up the M3 for a shot on the hostiles and check to make sure your backblast is clear.

"TORA TORA TORA!"

You pull the trigger. You hold your breathe as the the deafening sound of the rocket flies out of the launcher, the air pressure from the rocket sprays the dust up from behind you and on the Panzer IV. The round drops just short of where you wanted it, but you manage to turn 7 of them into black mist while wounding the other 3.

As if on cue, the machine guns, 75mm and mortars start to fire once they see the mushroom cloud. You get off the tank and reload the launcher.

When you finish, the enemy began to push through the center of the airfield. You take a snap shot at a cluster of 4 but it ends up going off to the right, killing 2 and wounding 1. You clear the chamber for another round and snap the end back in place once you armed it. You feel some hot brass fall on top of your helmet which then hits your arms and back. Ignoring the burning heat, you look through your scope again.

You do another sweep and see that the enemy has sent flankers out. You drop the Carl G to switch to the M202 while picking up ammo for it. You get on the Panzer for a better angle and decide to take out the left flank. The one with the other M202 can eliminate the right side.

"Flankers. I got the left, Litvyak right is yous." You raise the M202 and somehow fire simultaneously with her. The rounds hit true and the infantry didn't even make it to the barb wire. While you reload, you eye the right side and see that they've been terminated. Any survivors retreat back towards the brush line.

"SANYA WE DIDN'T SAY CLEAR!" You barely hear Barkhorn's voice through the radio over the fire.

The M202 is rearmed in which you take another 4 shots at the center line. The enemy is starting to reach your barb wire lines, ergo you aim for the funnel locations. The enemy is misted by the onslaught of your rockets and MGs. You prepare to reload when you black out.

1-2-3-4-5----30--35--45 seconds.

You open your eyes. You can't feel or hear anything but your eyes still work. Your eyes adjust itself and you see that your laying on your right side. You see that Nagato is firing her weapon, using the tank as cover. You try to roll on your back but find that you can't. Using your hands, you feel your senses coming back and touch the MG3 behind your back.

You roll on your stomach and push yourself up. You feel some hands trying to help you prop your body against the tank.

"Are you okay?" Miyafuji says as she gets really close to your face. She has the look that she's about to cry.

"I need a report on the Sergeant." You hear Wilcke's voice on the radio.

"I'm alive." You reply on the air. You take your helmet off and find that there's two 5mm dents on it. You put it back on your head before talking again, "I got hit in the head, I'm fine."

"Sergeant major let me heal you." The little Witch shows her animal ears.

"No, don't, waste your magic. Get back into position." *Thump* You get pushed on the tank by Nagato who intensely stares at you.

She looks up and down at you before moving her hands off of you. "Don't do anything stupid and get yourself killed. Let's go Miyafuji." Nagato grabs Miyafuji's arm and make their way back into the building.

You get back on the tank to reload the last M202 rounds and fire them off at the center group. You ditch the launcher and get off the tank for the M3. The cracking and whizzing of bullets, some hitting concrete, others hitting the Witches shields, happens around you during your process of retrieving the M3.

Once its in your hands, you reload it and begin rapid firing at the nearest enemy elements. You ignore the fact that your hands are getting burned as you reload swiftly. You achieve 6 rounds a minute, and maintain it till you have 4 rounds left. During that time your mind blanks out due to the sheer stress of constant fire.

When you judgment returns to you, you see there's piles of dead Abyssals all over the airfield. You start seeing more appear from the foliage and another 'Whale".

"Hitman 1, I --- again, there -----'Whale'----." The radio is barely discernible from the static. You use the scope and see that's the command 'Whale" with radio jammers sticking out of its top, replacing the 20mm.

The local channel still works and you hear the girls talking.

Akiyama, "Panzer is out of MG ammo. We're down to about 10 cannon rounds."
Fubuki, "We're out of mortars everyone. Sorry."
Wilcke, "Sanya how many rockets do you have?"
Sanya, "2 left Lieutenant."
Backhorn, "Minna we have some weapon jams and no more spare barrels. We're also low on ammo."
Sakamoto, "Sounds like we're in a bind. But no matter, we will prevail."
Nagato, "That doesn't mean we have the munitions to do so."

You range the 'Whale' and fire the rest of your remaining ammo, making each one hit. Your last rocket detonates the 'Whale' that sends a shock wave that pushes you down.

As you lay down you start coughing a great deal, letting to go of the M3. You check your mouth and don't see any blood hence you get up. You don't hear anymore firing outbound or incoming. You set your MG3 on a barricade when the radio starts broadcasting.

"Hitman 1, this is Reaper 2. Command has sent in 2 Cobras and 2 Chinooks. They require a visual on your POS. Do you read, over?"

"Hitman copies." You cough out then start engaging the retreating enemies. You aren't giving them a chance to group. As you fire you hear the mortars fire a pair of flares above you.

On your left you pick up the sound choppers moving in. You stop firing once the Cobras fly over your position. They launch their rockets at the foliage before opening with their cannons. The shell casing drop over you and the Panzer, still burning with residue. The attack helicopters take their time moving away from your position. When the Cobras finish engaging, there's not a living plant along what was the brush line. They start climbing and proceed to the south, occasionally opening fire.

You take in the sights and smells, breathe deeply in, and close your eyes. Exhale, and open your eyes. You're alive.

Prologue 2.3 Grim Reapers Sprint

You click for local, "SITREP, starting with Witches, then ships, then Panzer crew, over." You switch for Command, "Command, Hitman 1, I'll have a STIREP for you within 5 mikes, over."

"Hitman 1, Command copies all. Interrogative, Jammers? Over." You can hear relief and cheering on the General's side.

"Affirm, out." You brass check your MG3 and count the remaining rounds, in the 20s. You scan for any movement along the bodies on the airfield while waiting for the SITREP. You feel something warm dripping down your right leg and upper left arm. You take a glance to see you're lightly bleeding.

"This is Wilcke. All Witches accounted for. We're fine. Out"

"Nagato here. Ship girls are up. Out."

"Nishizumi reporting. Panzer is still functional and crew are okay. Out."

Letting go of the MG, you take out some stuff from the medic kit and begin to do first aid on yourself. "Sergeant major speaking. I have sustained minor injuries. Fixing myself up. Good work everyone." Your injuries consists of only flesh wounds from two 5mms, one went through your outer biceps, the other above the knee. "Wilcke you can take over, out." You let go of the clicker and start bandaging up.

You only manage to patch your right leg when someone calls out, "RUNNERS!" You look up to see 10 sprinters armed with bayonets and knives rushing towards your position fast. You grip the MG and fire your remaining rounds, killing three, one of which you see is decapitated from its torso and waist. The others with working weapons open fire while you grab your 1911. They only stop 1 when the Panzer's 75mm fires and leaves a crater on their intended path. You don't see any left till one blitzes through the cloud of dust from the HE round.

You can see that its opening its mouth from its neck. (Its a circular mouth, use google images if you can't imagine it. Warning Its kinda scary.) Its sprinting at a inhumanly speed while zigzagging to avoid being hit.

You can hear the girls are panicking over the radio as you climb on the Panzer. You know that its gonna try to eat someone before it dies on one last attempt to eat food. There's not much time if it manages to gnaw on a person. They lead with a mouth grip, then a bite before tearing what ever flesh they get a hold off within 4 seconds. They can easily split apart bones from arms and you've heard that they can even take someone's head in a bite.

You will not find out today. While you get behind the turret, you hear that it has jumped on the front end of the Panzer. Your ears catch that Nishizumi is opening the commander's hatch but you place your right elbow over it. You unsafe and cock the pistol as the thing's neck appears over the turret with its mouth wide open.

If Abyssals had faces, you know that this one would be surprised since Its mouth is right where your .45 is. You let off two shots right down its throat no doubt passing through its body. The carcass falls over the cannon which fires, vaporizing its bloodless body and leaving only dust.

You stand up to hear Hartmann yell out, "HEY TO YOUR RIGHT! CRAP RELOADING!"

But then Bishop shouts, "THERE'S ONE LEFT TOO. *Click* EH!?"
