The answer is essentially, this. People are still wondering about the monster, but it's seen as less important than the known active. When we start actually going into detail, the beast will come up.

Maybe, but the Beast was the one who actually broke the masquerade and caused this whole. Also that leads to another line of thought where did the Beast come from?

Oh that's good to get confirmation on, thank you Hawk.
Since voting seems to have trailed off, I'll probably close it in an hour. Right now, For Duty is in a clear lead, though the character specifics are still up in the air. Next update will be a pretty short one on stat distribution, so we could continue the voting on the character.
EDIT: Wrong Tally, sorry for any confusion.
So, For Duty is the clear winner, but from my count since I'm having trouble with the tally function, the name is a tossup between Harley Hochet and Darryl Frost.
This should hopefully be the last part before we get into the story and start meeting other characters, but I can't think of an in-story way to build your character's stats. After kicking several ideas around, I decided to just have you choose the order of the five stats you have access to from highest to lowest (Social, Intimidation, Observation, Stealth, Combat).

EDIT 2: I've decided that this isn't going to work out: I've been running into even more problems than the obvious ones. I'm sorry to anyone who thought the premise was interesting, but it seems I'm a better author than GM.

Aw that's too bad, think you are quitting a bit too early but then again I don't know what problems you are dealing with. Anyway catch you guys on the flip side.
