What if we discovered life on Venus?

Is it possible for anaerobic life to become macroscopic and multi cellular ?

The problem is that any sort of heat engine needs a thermal gradient to function. It doesn't work if you're just sitting around in a room at a constant high temperature.

Venusian atmosphere has extreme temperature gradient varying on altitude. Imagine a biological version of OTEC, except in atmosphere, that exploits the temperature difference to harvest energy. Picture a flying jellyfish with kilometer long tendrils.

Actual religions please?

NASA funding takes a hit as American Christians deny the existence of alien lifeforms and put political pressure on astronomy as a punishment for making such a discovery. For the next twenty years the pressure leads to a more militarised space environment as funding is re-purposed and adjusted in the US away from classical studies, with other countries following in order no to be left behind.

The ISS ends up in disrepair and eventually is discontinued as the support for it becomes more and more lopsided due to the US pulling out, and eventually others as space tensions rise.

The 2004-2007 era of "Teach the Controversy" creationism returns triumphant with a new thing to fight against, leading to a new generation of political anti-theism in the anglosphere.

I laugh because otherwise I must cry.

It seems likely to me that the born again preachers and televangelists at the very least would try to fund research so they can to find a way to get to any intelligent aliens to 'save' their souls.

What are you sniffing? Something from the atmosphere of Venus?

Organic life can survive in temperatures up to 500 degrees Celsius so it is possible.
