Spending time with our friends will probably lead to Amanda believing us instead of just believing that we believe us, and maybe to teaching Jen some magic. Meditation is because magic can probably be used discreetly to mimic physical prowess and has ranged options, bud sword skills can't mimic magic and they're melee only. And getting everyone to stop pestering us lets us actually do things instead of spending our time on doing other's work to get a proper grade.
