They say reds complement blues very well, to create a pleasing and distinct contrast.

I hate blue.

Yes...a girl. *There's a girl behind that untrimmed hair and uniform.*

You locked your dorm room, at any rate. Hopefully it will be one of them that disappears first instead.

You succeed only too well.

There are plenty of strange things that happen in Edgewood. More often than not these happenings are of the lethal variety, but sometimes...

...well, there are some phenomenon that aren't friendly, per se, but helpful.

Benjamin is one of these. He was a boy who went here...some time ago, and made the mistake of distinguishing himself. Not in any overt way, mind, but by simply being known. Benjamin knew where everything was, and wouldn't hesitate to help out newer Edgewood students. Eventually The Administrator reprimanded him for 'excessive altruism'.

He did not survive the punishment.

Now, his spirit lingers in the lunchroom, all hours of the day. He occupies his own little corner booth, staring unblinkingly down at his table. They say he's still up to his old tricks, telling people anything they want to know.

He's learned from his punishment, though. Now there's a price to pay.

"Hello!" He chirps at you as you sit down in the booth across from him.

"Hello Benjamin. I...need to find my class." You say, showing him your schedule. You hoped his price wasn't too high; you haven't ever really interacted with the weirder elements of Edgewood before.

Why would you?

"Hmm, Intro to Discrete Introductions? I know where that is~!" He replies happily, as if there was a chance he didn't know.

"I have a cost for this, though. The Administrator says I'm not allowed to reveal my price beforehand, ether." Benjamin looks down, seemingly unhappy with the situation.

"I..." You stammer, looking at the etchings. 7:51 AM.

[x] Agree to the Price

[X] Agree to the price.

It's 7:52 AM. At this point, even if the price was a limb, it would still be preferable to what might happen if you're caught skipping class.

"I...agree." You reply, timid and bracing for some unknown pain. Benjamin lights up, almost literally.

"Great~! Don't worry about the payment too much, it's all based on the kind of thing you ask for." Benjamin replies, happy as he seemed he could be.

"The...thing I ask for?" You reply, confused and relaxing somewhat.

"Mhm. So tell me, what's your favorite color?" Benjamin asks. As you begin to think about your answer, you see a golden light shine behind Benjamin's eyes, and *you feel your head getting very heavy...*

As you struggle to deal with your new found pain, you hear Benjamin as if he was very far away, "What is truly sacrificed can never be regained..."

It takes you several moments to recover, and as you finally regain your awareness you realize Benjamin is gone.

You also realize it's 7:55.

Thankfully, your bargain paid off; you were able to find your 8:00 AM class is just under three minutes.

As you sit down in one of the many empty desks, with no professor in sight, you idly wonder what your favorite color was...and why couldn't you remember it?

----------

Class went by in a thoughtless haze, as most classes do. It really was a strange thing; you never remembered a thing about any one lecture, yet were able to perfectly recite and/or execute on information you supposedly learned whenever it was relevant.

Based on the name of the class, Intro to Discrete Introductions, you think you have some sort of stealth skill now.

Or something.

*sigh*

You find yourself back in the lunchroom, and have hours before your next class. The lunchroom has a few people in it; Benjamin is nowhere in sight.

What do?
