Welcome to Anime, Try Avoiding Cliché Take Two (Development Hell Is Real in the Anime Industry!)
Welcome Junior Narrators and Lead Designers! Welcome to a new Shadenight123 Studio Production that definitely won't be halted after barely a couple of hours! (right, yeah, let's just say the previous Artistic Director got lost on the road to Hawaii with the money for the entire anime season production!)
First off, a set of votes. Because votes are important.
If you don't know what this quest is about, then have a look atthe previous one...which unfortunately died due to licensing agreements and copyright infringements, and most certainly not out of boredom or muse-chan going elsewhere! Nossir!
To do a brief recap of what this Quest is about...
You are basically a group of decision-making individuals who will try their hands at making an Anime as original as possible, while fighting against the Creative Director (That is, me) who will at every turn try to make the Anime in question as non-original, and Cliché filled, as possible. This isn't a clear-cut victory or loss condition, mind you. The poll is there just to see how well the lurkers (I KNOW YOU EXIST) and who will act as 'viewers' (HA, GET WORKING YOU LOT) deem the 'Anime' plot progression and whatnot. Original? Cliché? It doesn't matter. As long as we all have fun, that's fine.
Mind you, even if you're an active participant, you can vote in the poll too. There's nothing against that.
Now, with that said...let's get the ball rolling with the obvious FIRST-OH! POST-OH!
Setting
[X] Fantasy. We know you want the elves, the dwarfs, the demon lords and everything nice.
[X] Space. We know you want a space soap-opera. Let's get to it with Lasers and moon-sized megaweapons!
[X] Futuristic. It's not space, but cyber-augmented humanoids and quick-thinking AI and Hackers are reality.
[X] Steampunk. If it's not steaming, exploding with cogs flying around or otherwise filled with silly top-hats we do not want it!
[X] Modern. It's the street you know, the people you talk to, the things everyone does. School, work, everything nice.
[X] Something Else. It must be a setting described in one word. It cannot be a fusion of multiple settings.
But that is merely the world the Artistic Directors are going to draw.
The Voters need to do more. They need to decide not just the setting, but also the Main Tone of the PilotChapter.
Finally, after this has been decided, we must now take a look at the Protagonist. The Random, Everyday Protagonist.
Starting Protagonist Sheet.
High Concept: The Protagonist of a Random, Cliché Story
Trouble: Being Hounded by A Cliché-loving Artistic Director
Aspects:
Everyday Average Anime Protagonist.
Slave to the whims of The Voters.

Pick Four Skills From The Following:

Remember folks. The important thing is entertainment. We aren't out here to 'save' the world, or to 'condemn' it. We're here to make it entertaining!

you're new here, i see'Trap' is not viewed kindly here. This is not 4chan. Yes, we've seen anime, no, it's not a friendly, neutral term, yes, we've heard that objection before. 25 points and three days' out. Don't repeat it.
Name of the World: Sakura's Light-Heart Fantasy Life
Setting/Scale: Light. Slice of life episodes. Funny quirky characters. Little problems solved easily without the need for gory demonic pacts or painful agonizing choices between greyish moralities.
Fantasy. Dwarfs. Elves. Demons. Everything nice.
The World's Issues
1) Reaching the end of an anime season (12/13 episodes)
2) Being original
3) Preventing the Artistic Director from making everything Cliché
The World's Aspects
1) Magic is real.
2) Elves and Dwarfs exist.
3) There is a Hero who must embark on a quest.
4) Tensions are Rising. Enemies Incoming.
Faces and Places - Those of Importance
Artistic Director Shadenight123. Motto: "If it's not broken, don't fix it. If it's worked till now, let's keep using that. Dark-Haired, dark-eyed random male protagonists with harems are a go!"
Inside the Anime:
Niko - Childhood Friend. Friendly Rival Hunter. Clearly Tsundere for the Protagonist. Serious Consequence (6): Broken Leg Bone (Being Healed).
Himari Sato - Obsessive Older sister. Loves her little brother a lot. A REAL LOT. Clearly the WAIFU of the story.
Joshua Savior - Old wise Priest. Kind Soul. Healer.
Seraphima - Fully armored Half Dark Elf and Half Succubus Klutzy Maid.
Necrys - Skeleton Overlord. Illusion to appear womanly. Pretty much girly inside, but tough cookie outside.
Crystallite - Jadeite Expy. He's a Devil.
Current Arc/Episode:
0) Pilot.
Bestiary:
Dire Wolves. [1] [2] [3] Health Box. +3 Bite Attack. +2 Athletics for defense. Forward scouts of the legion of Evil. Normally found in packs during battles and used to break shield-lines due to their bodies reinforced by the unholy usage of Evil magic. They enjoy eating human flesh.
Average Everyday Protagonist
Slave to the Whims of the Voters
A Hunter
Skills at Average (+1)
Athletics: The Athletics skill represents your character's general level of physical fitness, whether through training, natural gifts, or genre-specific means (like magic or genetic alteration). It's how good you are at moving your body. As such, it is a popular choice for nearly any action-y character.
Will:The Will skill represents your character's general level of mental fortitude, the same way that Physique represents your physical fortitude. In settings where magic or psychic abilities are common, contests of Will are popular occurrences.
Rapport: The Rapport skill is all about making positive connections to people and eliciting positive emotion. It's the skill of being liked and trusted.
Crafts: Crafts is the skill of working with machinery, for good or ill.
Stunts
The Trap Shall Be Laid Henceforth: Without spending a Fate Point, create an advantage 'A trap has been laid' once per Episode.
You can spend fate points to invoke an aspect, to declare a story detail, or to activate certain powerful stunts.
You earn fate points by accepting a compel on one of your aspects. Sometimes, a compel means your character automatically fails at some goal, or your character's choices are restricted, or simply that unintended consequences cloud whatever your character does.
Actions Available To the Likes of You
In FATE, the work isn't just in the hands of the 'DM' or 'Narrator' or 'Chronicler' or 'Whatever'. It's also in your hands. Each skill may be, with some leeway, used in different-than-intended ways. However, they normally fall under 'Four Actions'.
Overcome: True to its name, you tackle some kind of challenge, engaging task, or hindrance related to your skill. Create an Advantage: Whether you're discovering something that already exists about an opponent or creating a situation that helps you succeed, creating advantages allows you to discover and create aspects, and lets you get free invocations of them. Attack: You try to harm someone in a conflict. That harm may be physical, mental, emotional, or social in nature. Defend: You try to keep someone from harming you, getting past you, or creating an advantage to use against you.
FATE rolls very specific 'Fudge' dice, which go from +1 to -1, and to which your modifier is then added. Usually, 4 Dice are always rolled, and the invocation of aspects grants a reroll of Dice or a +2 modifier... and that's pretty much it.
As always, this Character Sheet as well as the World Sheet will be continuously updated throughout the 'Anime Season'.
The Pilot Episode is the one that makes, or breaks, an anime season. Sometimes though, it generally breaks it and that's it. Even if the pilot succeeds, the moment one of the ensuing episodes ends up being horrible the fanbase rushes away, never to return. We must be careful. We aren't like those folks of the nearby studios with their Nyan Genesis Vangelsion that managed to garner support for three new movies after years of inactivity. As your artistic director, I will lay down a plot, a very simple and cliché like setting, and will endeavor to do my very best to make it such a compelling and eager narrative that by no means whatsoever will you think about changing it.
What do you mean, being cliché would leave us as an average Anime Company? Who wants to take the risk at being original!? Not I, sir! Not I! —Shadenight123
Intro
The World of Gaia has been for countless centuries under attack by the vile demonic beings of the Underworld. They, blessed by the powers of the Dark, have continuously attacked, harmed and annoyed the pure citizens of the many races that belong to the powers of the Light. The sturdy Dwarves, who work in their mighty furnaces in the depths of the mountains, have fabricated many a weapon for the valiant heroes who set forth to defy these demons and hellish necromancers. The gracious Elves with their pointy ears and magic, as well as keen eyes and nimble bows have held dominion over the forests for centuries, without once allowing them to be marred by the hands of the Dark.
The Humans, the most adaptive of races, has always been on the forefront of this war between light and dark, between the pure and good goddess Hikari and the evil goddess Yami. Most often than not, humans are found on both sides of the conflict.
Sakura Sato, a young boy, was born into a period of peace following the prophesied arrival of a Hero meant to defeat the evil Lord of Darkness, and finally banish the Goddess Yami from the world of Gaia. He is a villager, a son of villagers, and his village is just one among the many that peacefully and boringly were formed alongside the bed of a river, with a nice cobblestone path that snakes through it and a dainty-looking brick chapel-like structure that preaches to the good goddess Hikari.
It is a happy, everyday serenity that glows through the streets and eases the hearts of the villagers.
Something, however, disturbs the peace of an otherwise utterly average morning.
A sheep has escaped from the fields, and is running amok in the village's market!
Character Aspects: Pick One.
[X] Sakura Sato is watching the scene from the market stall his parents own.
[X] Sakura Sato is pursuing the sheep to calm it down.
[X] Sakura Sato is the one who scared the sheep into running in the market.
[X] Sakura Sato finds himself on the path of the sheep, unfortunately.
[X] Sakura Sato is nowhere in the city center, having gone to gather wood and herbs in the nearby forest. (+1 Fate Point)
[X] Sakura Sato watches the scene from the window of the church. (+1 Fate Point)
[X] Sakura Sato *Insert something that he is doing*
Author's Notes:
Do you see the BOLD, UNDERLINED sentences? This is the Pilot, and so I'll do the job of acting as a Tutorial for the likes of you. Technically, any and all parts of a post may be 'modified' if one is willing to pay FATE Points for it. Some of these parts have been underlined and rendered 'Bold' for you to see them. This permission to 'modify' lasts only until the Episode is concluded. Once it's done for, you can no longer retroactively modify *anything*. If, say, the Goddess' name becomes 'Jasmine', then in a new episode her name can no longer be changed. New information may be tackled on, but never 'erased' or 'modified'.
Some choices may inherently give Fate Points. But before you push for them, notice that whenever Fate Points are given, that is because the choice itself adds something that locks the character on a path of sorts. It may be a character aspect, it may be a background addition, it may be *anything* but since it is added due to the choice being undertaken, you get one Fate Point as a compensation.
So, with that said...
How do you EARN Fate Points as to Modify the Setting/Have a better chance with the protagonist's skills/Fight better in conflicts?
You start the Game off with 6 Fate Points, which will refresh at each new 'Episode'. That is due to you not having any 'Stunts'. Once you gain a few, the number of starting Fate Points will drop down. You gain Fate Points by allowing me, the most boring Creative Director, to 'Compel' your character aspect of 'Average Everyday Protagonist'. Basically, I will render the entire plot as boring as possible, and do the same with the actions/consequences. Your job is to decide whether that's fine, or not.
So, TO RECAP:
1) You have 6 FATE POINTS at the start of each episode (They will diminish as you earn aspects/Stunts).
2) If you wish to modify something from the original post, make a [X] "Sakura Sato is called Sakura Ezechialis instead" type of vote. (Remember the importance of Copy-Pasting!) Each modification costs 1 Fate Point.
3) I might randomly remark on my desire to modify parts of the otherwise 'boring' plot in exchange for Fate Points. Every time I will do that, as a rule of thumb the change will always be in line with an extremely Harem-Vibed, Japan-strong/Steelfoldedathousandtimes/NipponBanzai kind of thing. This is to poke fun at the general clichés of the anime industry, mind you.
4) At the very end of the Episode, you will have *ONE* last chance to annul any modifications done by repaying the cost in Fate Points. If you do not have any fate points left, then that's it, modifications are final.
5) Fate Points that are carried over to the end of the episode can be used to 'modify' the character sheet and give the character bonuses/aspects/stunts/increase his characteristics.
6) Nothing is sacred and everything is permitted, but silly votes will be utterly ignored. By 'Silly' I intend votes which might be like modifying Sakura's surname to 'DirtySock' or similar.
7) Have fun.

Not that Sakura Sato could know that, since he's currently busy stalking his prey through the undergrowth of the forest. He's already collected his herbs and the wood for the day, so now all that's left is the meat.
His ears are perked up, his expression filled with concentration. He knows that if he wants to eat, or sell his game, he must ensure the beast runs exactly where he wants it to run. Straight into his trap. Go straight into my trap. The whisper is barely registered by the audience, but it comes from Sakura's own mouth. He tenses, the deer lifts its head, and finally the game is on and he runs.
He runs for the prey.
The prey runs in turn. Hastily avoiding the brambles, the patches where the wooden roots are thicker and the thorny bushes, the deer is straight in front of his vision. It's a matter of seconds, and then there's a sordid thunk, and the deer falls down, straight onto a pile of jagged rocks hidden by a bundle of rope and a grass-colored cape of sorts (Hello, I think we could go for an alteration here. I've got a brilliant Idea. Do you want me to change this piece? Y/N?). A peculiarly large rock is left near the trap, and with calm and practiced ease it is lifted by Sakura.
Then there is a thunk, and everything grows quiet.
As Sakura's work on the game he captured goes off-screen to keep the audience from barfing, and ensuing this remains a T-rated Anime, what will Sakura do once he's done with the prey?

It's a matter of seconds, and then there's a sordid thunk, and the deer doesn'tfalls down, straight onto a pile of jagged rocks hidden by a bundle of rope and a grass-colored cape of sorts. What happens is that an arrow plants itself into the creature's neck just as it stumbles into the pit. Sakura grits his teeth as he understands what is about to happen.
He was supposed to bring a part of the prey home to his little sister, Himari Sato. It was just the two of them most of the time, his parents busy working in the fields. So his little sister took care of cooking the game he brought back after selling most of it off.
However this might be in jeopardy due to the figure that emerges from the woods.
Wearing a short green miniskirt, a bright green sleeveless shirt which shows off a lot of her porcelain skin that seemed to glow under the rays of the sun, a beautiful arrogant smirk and a pointy green hat, the figure of his childhood friend turned rival was a sore sight for his eyes. Her name was Niko, and her flaming red hair shone like vivid flames of fire. There was triumph in her voice. "Oi, stupid-Sakura!" she cheerfully said, "I hit it first!"
"But I was leading it to my trap!" Sakura replies, "That deer's clearly mine!"
"Want to go to the guards? They'd probably have us split it anyway," Niko smoothly says, the teasing smile on her face a definite proof that she had done it on purpose. Sakura's teeth grit. It was common of Niko to act like that. She always stalked her claim on his preys often, and usually ended up making him do all of the skinning and curing of the meat. She'd pay him with further parts of the deer he had hunted, until in the end she'd walk away with her dinner for the day and nothing more.
It was harmless teasing.
It also was quite annoying all the same.
"Right, right, I, the most merciful Lady Niko will allow you to take care of skinning the whole thing for me too, and once you're done just cut me a thick juicy slice all right? This way it's cheaper than going to the market," she grinned as she said that, nodding as she sat atop a high pile of rocks.
With quick, merciless work Sakura finished the job, and after handing over what he needed to, he proceeded to start hauling the rest. Niko snickered throughout their return to civilization.

It is a happy, everyday serenity that glows through the streets and eases the hearts of the villagers.
He was supposed to bring a part of the prey home to his older sister, Himari Sato. It was just the two of them most of the time, his parents busy working in the fields. So his older sister took care of cooking the game he brought back after selling most of it off, taking care of the house, humming a pleasant tune while sharpening the knives and the cleavers and generally doing all sorts of things that made her the very best big sister in the world...in her humble opinion. He didn't know any better, since he didn't have another big sister to compare the two.
His older sister was waiting for him, after all. She wasn't pleased if he came home late. Even a minute late was bound for some tear-filled eyes and sniffles of agony as if he had plunged a hot poker into her chest. Unfortunately, the smell of blood attracted something it shouldn't have attracted.
It's a wolf, only it's not just any wolf. It's a very large wolf. There are spikes emerging from its back, his eyes glimmer with intelligence, and while it's clear that he was attracted to the blood of the game, he's not interested in the burlap sack filled with meat. No, he's interested in the two Huntsmen. He's a devourer of human flesh after all. He's a creature of Evil. He is...
A Dire Wolf.
"A Dire Wolf!" Niko exclaims in shock, her bow already in hand and an arrow nocked and ready. "They aren't supposed to be here! It's too close to the city!"
"What do we do? What do we do now?" Sakura asks, his hand letting go of the burlap sack since there's no need to slow oneself down when it's a life or death situation. He has a small knife meant for skinning prey, but definitely not for fighting Dire Wolves.
The battle, thus, begins.

A fight to the death! Blood! Viscera! Everything gory! Ah, no, wait a moment. We're a Light Anime. We can't do that. We've already given the synopsis out, and everything must be flowers and niceties! No other choice! Rainbows and glitter! Let us initiate contingency plan, Konnosuba-X-1! Totally not copied from their way of doing stuff! We're Originally Cliché after all! Also, great idea! The more rivals there are, the more they can become love interests! -Shadenight123
Intro
The World of Gaia has been for countless centuries under attack by the vile demonic beings of the Underworld. They, blessed by the powers of the Dark, have continuously attacked, harmed and annoyed the pure citizens of the many races that belong to the powers of the Light. The frail Dwarves, who are blessed with an understanding of nature due to their birth from the very earth, and who live in mighty oaks within the forest. The stocky and short-tempered Elves with their bulky frames and strong arms, crafted from the stones of the mountain and born to craft the greatest of blades and armors from the mightiest of forges, without once allowing them to be marred by the hands of the Dark.
The Humans, the most adaptive of races, has always been on the forefront of this war between light and dark, between the pure and good goddess Hikari and the evil goddess Yami. Most often than not, humans are found on both sides of the conflict.
Sakura Sato, a young boy, was born into a period of peace about to come to an end due to tensions rising between good and evil. The prophesied arrival of a Hero meant to defeat the Lord of Demons is also slowly coming up, and finally banish the Goddess Yami from the world of Gaia. He is a Hunter capable with traps, son of villagers, and his village, formed near a riverbank, has seen a great increase in trade in the recent years leading it to develop a budding and ever-growing economy. It's a place rife with merchants and stalls, people filled with money and inns for the would-be travelers and adventurers, with a nice cobblestone path that snakes through it and a dainty-looking brick chapel-like structure that preaches to the good goddess Hikari.

ENEMY: DIRE WOLF. ASPECTS: Born of EVIL. Predatory Intelligence. Born Hunter of Men.]
[COMBAT - END]
The Dire Wolf howls as it charges forward, its mouth filled with froth and sharp fangs rushing towards Niko with only hunger in its eyes. It knows that she's the one with the bow, it knows that she's the one armed. With her down, then the other is easy prey.
"We've got to take it down!" Sakura yells, hurrying towards a group of sharp looking rocks to throw. In that moment, Niko keeps her cool and prepares an arrow, pulling back the string of her bow and concentrating. As the wolf is about to bite on her, she let loose the arrow. The Dire wolf yips like a wounded dog, and falls down to the side, but his claws find the ground and once more he stands. A normal wolf would have already retreated. A creature of Evil knows no such thing as 'retreat'.
Sakura's first pick on throwing a rock merely serves as a mean to remind the Dire Wolf that perhaps there is an easier opponent to fight. He nimbly avoids the thrown rock, and with a swipe of his claws, which Sakura barely avoids, he opens a scratch on the boy's flank, ripping through his clothes with ease as if they were made of paper.
Niko's already gotten another arrow at the ready, "Let him be, you beast!" she yells with a high-pitched voice as yet another arrow embeds itself into the back of the wolf, forcing him to briefly keel over. Evil, however, suffuses his skin and bones and muscles. He won't fall for so little damage. He won't fall, not until all of mankind is exterminated in the name of the great Overlord.
He stands once more, proudly turning towards the source of his agony, and with bloodshot eyes rushes forward like a bullet of fur and teeth, biting down with fury on Niko's right leg. There is a (HAPPY RAINBOWS AND GLITTERING STARS) and Niko (CHEERFUL MUSIC PLAYS IN THE AIR), before Sakura nears with a large rock the now still wolf busy gnawing on (SOMETHING HAPPY LIKE A CAKE). With a final blow from the large rock, the wolf goes still.
Niko is crying on the ground, her leg gnawed to the point where it would need a healer quickly. First, however, Sakura rips out more of his shirt. It's his work one, but it's better than letting Niko die of bloodloss. She cries out, whimpers leaving her mouth and revealing just how frail of a girl she can be. The moment he's bandaged the nasty wound to the best of his abilities, she's just about ready to pass out.
There is only one thing left to do.
Leaving behind the game, Sakura grabs hold of Niko in a bridal carry, and while he hears her soft whimpers every now and then, he rushes quickly towards the village. If he's lucky, an adventuring priest will see her before the local priest.
[X] Head for the Inn. It's closer, and there might be an adventuring priest capable of healing her leg.
[X] Head for the Church. It's further away, but you're pretty sure there's a powerful healer.
[X] Head for the guard post by the city entrance; it's the closest there is. You know they've got potions for dire situations, and if this isn't a dire one...
[X] Write-In.
Once you've delivered Niko...
[X] Stay with her until you're sure she's safe.
[X] Head back quickly to recover your Game.
[X] Head off back home to change.

Leaving behind the game, Sakura grabs hold of Niko in a bridal carry, and while he hears her soft whimpers every now and then, he rushes quickly towards the village. If he's lucky, an adventuring priest will see her before the local priest.
As he hurries along, the whimpering Niko in his hands, the closest place he can come up with is the guard post. There, a couple of the village's militiamen witness him arrive with wide eyes as he drags Niko's bleeding corpse. He himself isn't without scratches, but as he barely catches his breath, they immediately force Niko to swallow a foul concoction to stabilize the poor girl.
While one guard goes off to call the priest, another takes Sakura's statement of events. There are a couple of grim faces at the mention of the Dire Wolf, more than once bringing into question whether it really was one, or not. However, having mentioned where the game, and thus the wolf is, a couple of guards head off to check and return dragging the creature of evil's purulent carcass, which has begun to rot surprisingly quickly, and the game that Sakura and Niko had hunted 'together'.
The priest arrives, his expression harrowed on his old crinkly face. The man's name is Joshua Savior an old kind man who prays to the Goddess of Light and has healed the sick and the wounded for a decade at the very least within the village. He's always been old, but at the sight of the dire wolf's carcass he becomes even older, if such a thing is possible.
Niko's leg is snapped back into position, much to the girl's (HAPPY FUN LAUGHTER). Sakura's hand is nearly crushed in a vice-like hold by Niko's grip, even though he remains close to her until he's sure without a doubt that she's out of danger.
Then, as her breathing turns even and everything appears to calm down, the priest turns towards Sakura for his own wound.
"This won't sting a bit," he remarks dryly, pulling out gauze and alcohol. "Now show me the wound."
It's going to sting. It's going to sting a lot by the time the old man is done. "Foolish youngsters," he says, "Foolish brave youngsters." He amends a couple of seconds later. "There," once he's done tending to the wound, he locks eyes with you. "You should head home and tell your sister not to worry. It's getting late. I'll tell Niko's family to come get her."
With those words spoken, Sakura stood up and left, heading back home. The sun was dying out beyond the horizon, the people were whispering about the unfortunate Dire Wolf attack, and as an air of tension filled the streets, Sakura kept dragging his Game on his back.
Finally, he arrived home.
A pair of arms engulfed him within seconds, coming from his older sister's worried and half-shaking form. "You're all right! Oh thank the Goddess of Light!" she exhales in relief, smothering Sakura with a set of quickly fired off kisses on the head and forehead.
Thus, the fade to black may happen.
