Monkey King has made the official challenge to MegaBot and probably will to Kuratas as well, and MegaBot has "accepted" so far as that once the fight with Kuratas is finished there will be a planning stage on making the official International Giant Fighting Robot League.
So Monkey King isn't combat ready yet, but like the MegaBot Mk.2 it is being worked on.
I saw this satirical makezine article and was reminded of this thread. Someday, the original Megabot will hopefully be the subject of similar but legitimate articles.

If it gets back up. Too many apparently were expecting Gundams and martial arts from the fight, so funding isn't as fruitful as it should have been. MegaBots is bankrupt, and the Eagle Prime, a shipping container of associated spares and extra attachments, and the CAD files & source code is being auctioned off on eBay. As of this post, its $50,000.
