Golden Opportunities
You are a Gold Wizard of the Empire, a Journeywoman of one of the Eight Colleges of Magic tasked with protecting the Empire from its many, many enemies without, and almost as often its enemies within. Possessed with wondrous arcane power, Imperial wizards nonetheless have a precarious existence. Hated by many, feared by more, respected by few and beloved by none save maybe yourselves, the Wizards are legally considered under a kind of suspended death sentence. As long as they serve the Empire, its Emperor, and their Colleges in that order, they are allowed to live. If they refuse, or worse, betray the Empire, their lives are forfeit.
Your College of Magic, the Gold College, are masters of the Lore of Metal.Yours is the domain of iron, lead, alchemical reagents, and of course, gold. The greatest of your College is both Patriarch of the Golds and Supreme Patriarch of the Colleges, the mysterious Balthasar Gelt. Perhaps one day you will match or even surpass Gelt's influence and might.
For now, however, you are merely a freshly minted Journeywoman of the Gold College, yet to make your mark on the world. So, who are you?
From where do you hail?

[] The Grand County of Averland, hailed for its clear skies, generous people, and fertile land… as well as the Mad Count and the dangers of the Blackfire Pass.
[] The Grand Barony of Hochland, the smallest province, full of dense forests, hardy hunters, and its many shrines to the gods… as well as the Beastman-infested Drakwald Forest and the desolate dangers of the Middle Mountains.
[] The Grand Duchy of Middenland, a grim and wild land full of tradition, faith, and strength.. as well as the Red Tusk Orcs and roaming creatures of Chaos.
[] The squabbling cities of Tilea, full of art, music, innovation, piety… as well as vendettas, assassinations, skirmishes, and hatred of witchcraft.

What task was your most memorable as an apprentice?
[] Message-carrier. You were quick on your feet, didn't dawdle, and didn't ask what was in the letters. You still read a few of them, though. And you became a familiar sight on the streets of Altdorf.
[] Assistant apothecary. You spent many hours cutting up roots and herbs, and a few sleepless nights watching over the cauldrons of your master. You didn't always get time to talk to people outside of the College.
[] Novice blacksmith. Your hands became callused and rough, your back strong, your temper sometimes short. You learned much of metallurgy and armaments.
Your master, a Wizard Magister, took you to the markets of Altdorf to show you the wonders of commerce and the folly of greed. What lesson did you take from your master's teaching?
[] You watched the merchants and the crowd, all those who bought and sold. You learned of bartering, of grandiose lies and absurd truths, claimed by those wishing to make a fortune in the market square.
[] You saw the poor on the street corners and on the steps of the shrines. You learned that justice was not always forthcoming for the poor, and that the wealthy would go to great lengths to make it so.
[] You noticed cutpurses in the crowds and footpads in the alleyways. You learned what a man was willing to do to gain gold, and to what lengths a man would go to keep it.
Like any College, the Golds have a certain pecking order even within the same rank. You… were not at the top of the order. How did you find your place in it?
[] By befriending another apprentice more popular than yourself, gaining at least a measure of their reputation and grace. Or at least an ally in a den of ambitious children.
[] By doing the chores of some of the other apprentices, gaining if not friendship, then at least a little gratitude. Or pity. Still, you did gain some insights from the chores.
[] By picking a fight with another apprentice. Without Battle Magic it was rather more visceral than most wizard duels, but you came away with a broken nose and an aura of respect from your fellow apprentices. Or maybe dread. Hard to tell sometimes.
Finally, what is your name? (Please pick a feminine or at least androgynous name appropriate for your background)
