So there you were, just mindin' your own damn fool business, when suddenly, you find yourself in a place completely different than where you thought you were.
And it all happened so suddenly. It was like, you just turned your head from the city to take a good, long view of the countryside, only to turn around again to find that you're not watching the forest from a balcony you know anymore, but from the top of a weathered old castle battlement, sticking out of a large, gothic mansion. And speaking of the forest, when you turned your head back, the view was now no longer a forest, but that of a rocky cliff, looking over a sea that covered the horizon.
Or maybe, you just laid down somewhere, hoping to catch some shuteye before the big game/battle/peace conference you had coming up, and it just wouldn't do to appear all tired and ragged. Except, when you open your eyes again, you find yourself lying with your back on a field of rocks and hard undergrowth, with the sound of crashing waves reaching your ear, and now you just feel even more tired and ragged than you had before this.
Oh, and also, everything in this place aside from yourselves? All in black-and-white.
Well, one thing's for sure: You Dorothies aren't in your Kansases anymore.
In this RP you play as a fictional character. It can be any fictional character, from any work of fiction (with a few rules regarding it, of course). You need not worry too much about such things like power levels and such, since I plan on tailoring the challenges to fit the abilities of the characters being played at the time.
Also, if you're planning to be gone from the game from some time, please tell. You could choose to give your character/s to a user, player or GM you trust to play them in your stead while you are gone, or you can render them "dormant" (i.e., they're still puttering about in the game, they're just not doing much of any importance at the moment).
But other than all that, standard forum RP etiquette applies: No Godmodding, no taking advantage of OOC knowledge, wait for players to reply to you when you're in a fight or conversation with those players, listen to the GMs, etc, etc.
Please write-up your character sheets in the following format:
Story: What series/franchise do they originate from?
Name: Self-explanatory
Appearance: You can post a picture or just a link. In lieu of both, you can try describing them in prose. Whichever works for you.
Age, gender, and species: Also self-explanatory (If one is explicitly noted to look older/younger than she is, then would you kindly state both their apparent age and their real one)
Personality: Their usual attitude towards other people, life and it's problems. Their own biases, personal beliefs and life philosophy.
Back story: What was their story before they got sucked into this weird place?
Skills/powers/abilities: What can they do besides the absolute basics like walking, talking, eating, etc? (Doesn't have to be combat-related, can be stuff like diplomacy, being a good listener and counselor, etc.)
Items: What did your character happen to bring along with them into this other place, other than the clothes they wear?
Other: Stuff that doesn't fit into the above categories so neatly.

Okay, so any character from any work of fiction so long as you did not create them. Characters which are alternate interpretations of other already-existing characters also count (In which case both the both the fanfic author and the original author cannot play them)
Example: Wildbow cannot play characters from Worm, obviously, but he also cannot play all the existing alternate fanfic Taylors (The Rose Queen, Buster, AcceleTaylor) as well. Chibipoe, on the other hand, can't play the Taylor-that-has-Accelerator's-powers-and-no-secret-identity that he portrayed in Acceleration, but he can play other versions just fine.

I will handle them on a case-by-case basis. As long as you can convince me that these characters would absolutely not work unless they were together (Or at least, be vastly diminished as characters unless together), then I will allow it. At most, though, only two characters at a time (unless they're the less powerful sort, which is covered in Incentivising Less Powerful Characters)
For super-powerful characters (characters that can hold their own against Superman in a 1v1 battle without Kryptonite, to define it broadly), I've decided not to be as strict about them as some other threads. I will allow them in as long as you give me clear weaknesses and personality quirks that I can factor into my challenges so that they won't simply curb-stomp all challenge from the game.
I'll probably stop allowing too many Godlike characters into the game, though, if they start to threaten the agency of the less powerful characters in the game in a way that is not fun for anyone.
And speaking of less powerful characters...

Now, these types of RPs usually have, as their selling point, the fact that these games tend to have characters from all over fiction, interacting with each other in a massive boiling pot of cultural stew, and hilarity ensues!
In practice, though, the characters that end up getting played the most fall into a scale of power that can easily take down a "base human" with ease (or even a few of them, at the same time!), and yet just not powerful enough to be demigod-like, falling just short of being able to move around at supersonic speeds and re-arranging the landscape with a flex of the bicep. Which makes sense, as so many of these RP's challenges involve large amounts of combat, but have power level restrictions in place to make it easier on the GMs to manage conflict.
And also because so many of us are SF and Fantasy fans, but that's beside the point.
Personally, I find that PCs like Two-Bit, from the The Massive Multi-Fandom RPG (Season 2), or Johnny from A Game Of Gods: Infinities to be interesting in the way they react and interact with the vastly more powerful figures around them, and I think there should be a bit more people not afraid of playing "powerless" characters.
So, to encourage less powerful characters, I'll make it so that you are allowed to play up to three characters if they are all at the level of "average joe on the street" in terms of skills. You could even make it up to five if all your characters are "less than average joe" in power level (examples include the toys from Toy Story, and the Minions from Despicable Me).

Eventually, I plan on sending the characters on other worlds if this goes on long enough, but I can't possibly be familiar with all settings, so I'll probably ask for someone more familiar with the source material to briefly co-GM on matters concerning their franchise of choice.
Hell, if you're familiar with some world or franchise that you so want the players to go to, just tell me! I can just whip up a way to send them to that world and give you the role of temporary co-GM while they're there.
