So, whilst I let someone link me some way to watch MGLN, have the first chapter in Marie's adventure, the second chapter of the prologue, and a generic chapter to see if I can switch to Rune Factory if MGLN bottoms out.
Your name is Marie, and you awaken to the horrid claxon of your alarm clock going off, swinging your arm with as much momentum as you can gather, you attempt to turn it off. Falling to the floor in a bundle of wrinkled sheets and blankets, you remember your mistake. This is the first night since you've moved to the small town of Cliffside.
[ ]Laugh at your mistake, you're sure you look ridiculous. (+10 optimism)
[ ]Roll your eyes and move on, it's not important. (No change)
[ ]Facepalm as you berate yourself, you'll remember next time. (+10 pessimism)
Cleaning up your bed, and turning off your alarm, you remember that today the local professor wants to meet with you. Today was the day, today was the day that you went out on your 'coming of age ritual.' You give your mother a kiss, as you pass through the door:
[ ]In a rush, this is the single most exciting day of your life!(+10 optimism)
[ ]Without worry, you're sure that whatever you find will be perfect for you.(+10 confidence)
[ ]Slowly, you have to plan to make the right choice. (+10 caution)
As you stop in front of the lab you were specified to go to, you stare at the stark contrast from the rest of the town, it looks: (This sets the town themes for the adventure. And general weather patterns.)
[ ]Futuristic compared to the rustic style of the rest of the town.
[ ]Oddly ancient, against the cubist housing.
[ ]Surprisingly conservative, with a large amount of solar panels.
The professor is waiting for you inside, with a quick wave you jog over to him. "You must be Marie, glad you could make it! Your mother and father have done all the paperwork to allow you travel the land here." His bespectacled gaze takes in your outfit, and directs you over to a table. "This is where we've laid out the three starters that you can pick from. None of them are common here, so choose wisely!" On the table are three pokéballs and a stuffed animal behind them, in a row are a Cyndaquil, a Fennekin, and a Totodile. You pause upon seeing two of the same typing.
"A Cyndaquil and a Fennekin?"
"Oh, ah, these were the only ones we could get easily on such short notice. Normally we like to have 3 different types." His shrug causes you to turn and choose your partner. The professor's smirk precludes him speaking, "Ah that was a quick pick, do you have a nickname for that Pokémon?"
[ ]No
[ ]Yes, (write-in)
With a push of a button, your partner is released. You pick it up and:
[ ]Give it a tight hug, this one is your new best friend. (+10 Attitude towards Pokémon)
[ ]Nod, this will be the first of your team. (+10 Attitude towards your team)
[ ]Smile brightly, finally a new friend you can trust. (+20 towards Pokémon, -10 towards humans.)
The silence the professor leaves you in is broken when a door towards the back opens. A person steps through. "Really Uncle? You told me I could have first pick!" The professor visibly steps back and raises his hands.
"I, ah, told you that if you were here first, you'd be able to pick! You woke up too late!" His tone is obviously trying to recover some semblance of strength as he stumbles through his words. You turn your head to address the person who stepped in behind you, addressing the niece with a:
[ ]Light jab, "Maybe you should have woken up sooner." (-10 Attitude towards rival)
[ ]Possessive response, "I would have picked this one anyways." (+10 Attitude towards team)
[ ]Apologetic response, "I was really excited, sorry." (+5 Attitude towards rival, +5 Humility)
With a sigh the niece turns and walks over to you, "My name is Jessica, you're Marie, right?" With a nod she leaves to pick her Pokémon. "I cannot believe you left a CYNDAQUIL!" She shouts, as if trying to convince you of your mistake. "They're so adorable! Thank you for leaving me the cutest!" With a shake of your head you leave as she continues to pet and play with the stuffed animal.
You reach into your left pocket and pull out your Pokévice, calling up your old friends to show and tell your newest friend. Mandy and Lee both answer, however Amy doesn't, instead using a pre-built response to say she's busy. "What's up? You ready to go to that Asylum nearby and show me the cool stuff?" Mandy asked, her curly black hair bouncing in excitement.
"Mandy, she said that it wouldn't be in the first week she'd do that to try and get settled before getting unsettled, remember?" Lee responded, Mandy stopped bouncing. "Speaking of settling, how's the new room? I heard that it'd be bigger."
"It's marginally bigger, I had to reshuffle some of my furniture though, it's got an awkward slope that I have to place furniture around." You respond with a dismissive wave. "That's not why I called though, they finally did it!" Both of your friends gasp, as you reach your left hand further from your face, showing off the now sleeping Pokémon.
"It's so precious! Oh my geez! I wish I were there to pet it!" Mandy responds, her hands cupping her face. You notice the bags under her eyes, she put makeup on to try to hide it, but it wasn't her best work.
"I agree, have you given it a name?" Lee responds inching closer to the screen. With a quick response you continue the conversation.
"Wish Amy was here, she's always been a fan of the vulpine ones." She must be studying.
"Yeah, maybe we'll find organize a get together for the 4 E's again, just to pet your adorable Fennekin."
"You jest, but I wouldn't mind, it's been a while since we were all together." You tease, you missed this.
"Hah, you know what it's like, Mandy's got her job, I've got my team, and Amy's got that degree she's been working at for the past year. Can't believe she's two years ahead of us still, it's like it was yesterday that I had to help her with Japanese." His reminiscing almost dragged you in. "Hey, now that you've got that little protector of yours, you could go to the asylum early. It'll handle any spooky ghost-types for you." He lengthens the word spooky while doing the finger wiggling to mock you.
"Maybe, but I'm still gonna check in with Mom first." You say, finally reaching your door.
"Good luck! She'll probably say no!" Mandy says, as you hang up. You open the door and your mother's sitting at the table, looking at the newspaper in her hands.
"Say no to what?" She prompts, oh crap.
[ ]Full explanation, she'll know if you lie.
[ ]Partial explanation, maybe omitting some key parts of your plans will help?
[ ]Put it off, you'll tell her tomorrow, letting you plan for it.
If you feel like writing omakes, there you go, three potential omakes that I've outlined for you guys. And a lot of votes.
Sorry.
These votes are important for determining the Attitude chart I mentioned earlier. It's a social interaction skill list that I've left open ended if I feel like you guys have done something to add to it. FYI, confident and humble are on opposing ends of the same scale, as it's more about how the character is, rather than the character can act.
EDIT: Feel free to discuss or talk about how Marie looks, something to add to the flavor of the world. I'll probably end up mentioning it every now and then if you guys agree on an appearance.
EDIT:EDIT: Got dropped a link, I'll watch MGLN now.
EDIT:EDIT:EDIT: Noticed an inconsistency, that one instance of Taylor is now properly Jessica.
