I was intending to decide that and other details bit by bit. The shuttle was transporting cadets, though.

"You didn't take me on a date before biting? Jeez." You decide to tease Marlene a little, hoping to diffuse things a bit now. Given she's tried to feed on you twice and succeeded once, you're going to have a few jokes at her expense. "Anyway, we should get a move on."
She seems harmless enough.
"Yeah! I actually had an idea since I finally have an extra pair of hands."
"Oh? Tell me on the way to storage, I need to cover me feet."
"Sure!" Marlene stands out of the pilot's seat and follows you out of the cockpit, wincing a bit as you trudge through the mess she's made (or at least, you hope) of the pilot bunk and stasis bay. She's thin and lithe, her movements downright spritely. Given how long you've been asleep, you guess it might have to do with the isolation.
"Also I should probably be bossing you around but I don't really give a shit." She adds, with a faint chuckle that sounds equal parts weary and cheery.
"S'fine." You grab a few food pills and pop them on your way to the back of stasis, entering the stores at the back of the small transport.
"Those Natarajas aren't good enough to fly but the second-closest one... I guess about 11 clicks, it can walk. I was thinking we go over, bring it back, drag the shuttle out of the decay range of the other two and use it to jumpstart our reactor and repeat a distress signal a few times. Nothing too fancy, but we're close enough that they can't not detect it."
"Hmm, fair enough." You're paying some attention to the plan as you start slipping into a compression suit, glad that they come in a one-size-fits-all format. "I mean, I buy it, but why do you need me?"
"Biometrics. The Nataraja predates uhm... us being accepted." Her expression sours a bit.
"Us as in.. vampires?" You ask as you finish getting dressed. The sleeves feel a bit snug, but loosen just as soon as it becomes uncomfortable. Zipping up, you start to set the locks and seals all over to make sure your first major EVA doesn't wind up being your last.
"Yeah. Although it might actually help me... explain this if I actually knew where you were from." Marlene bites her lip. "Also names, wow. Hi. Did I mention I haven't spoken to anyone in a year? I'm Warrant Officer Marlene Darzi."

"Hee hee. Okay, cute. But I'm a warrant officer." Marlene blinks at you a few times but but laughs. "And a veteran. And a vampire. You can guess how much that means to me right now."
"...probably. Figured I'd put it out there." You say a bit less firmly than before, as you lower your hand and run a quick diagnostic on the suit systems. "Tell me a bit about yourself first, and sure, I'll tell you everything about me you want to know."
Marlene finds a crate to sit on and crosses her legs. "My full name is Marlene Darzi. I already said that. I'm with the Fleet. Guess that was obvious. I grew up on the near-side ice-mining colonies near one of the major draglines between Vermillion and Mimas. I've been a pilot for about twenty years. I lost my rank in a duel about two weeks before your flight. For reasons. Hmm... my favorite food is biryani made with boneless chicken. I like to go clubbing during leave. I have a small garden in my apartment's balcony."
While trying to follow her motormouth, you notice the compression suit is providing your implants with a bit of power, which means you'll be able to run archive searches. Nothing active, but it couldn't hurt to pull up what you have stored if you need to jog your memory. You test it out on something obvious while Marlene speaks slightly too fast for you to keep up.
"...but yeah, that's me. I actually used to be a Cosmoframe Pilot before I was demoted." Marlene's legs kick out. "So how about you?"
