Venturing the Wild (Sequel to Mould Breaking / Zelda: BotW)

Chapter 54

Venturing the Wild – 54

"Congratulations." Magnus cheered as Isha placed down the enchanted topaz ring.

The older woman sighed and leaned back before cheering. "Yes!" She sighs. "…is it normal for me to be so tired?"

"First time properly and willingly using your magic? Yeah, don't worry, it gets much easier with training. It's like a muscle, though just as a muscle you can, and will, ruin yourself if you push too far. It'll also be harder to do things you haven't done before, during the next week I will try to teach you how to test your limits and learn to recognize them."

"I think we'll get to that… later." She quickly changed her mind as her legs betrayed her and she fell back to the chair. "Was it as hard for you during your first time?"

"I'm a particularly bad example, my creation is complex in multiple ways." Magnus answered jovially. "I will teach you, but I would recommend finding a better role model for the use of magic."

She just rolled her eyes, it wasn't the first time Magnus had dodged that question in the time they had been teaching each other.

"On another subject, why start with lightning? I don't think it would be too useful." She prompted.

"Something I've observed is that people on Hyrule tend to be aligned to one or two elements per race. Rito are especially good at Wind, though they are known to harness fire quite well. Zora are mainly related to Water but know the use of Ice. Gorons are Fire and Earth. Sheikah made themselves aligned to their Blue Flame. Hylians are good with Earth, but can show an affinity to practically any other element. Gerudo are good with Electricity first and distant second is a tie between Fire and Wind." She explained calmly. "As you can see, starting with something you would be naturally good at makes it easier."

The woman nodded understandably. "Would that mean I'll have a harder time working with water?"

"Maybe a bit, but since you're looking to bring out the element in something that already has it you will be having a much easier time than trying to actually use Water magic."

"Okay then, when will our next lesson be?" Isha asked.

"In a few days, I need to visit Tera's Fountain." She answered. "Take a few days to relax, decompress and work on your usual jewelry, I'm sure Cara's a bit worried about how much of your time I've been taking."

Isha looked a bit embarrassed.

"It's not that bad." Magnus laughed a bit. "I understand the eagerness to learn like no other."

"Stay safe." Isha said and caressed her arm.

Magnus wasn't blind, but she honestly preferred to keep things professional as she really wasn't a she. She still thanked Isha in her tongue before leaving the workshop.

"Make sure she doesn't try to enchant more things." She warned Cara on her way out before heading towards the new South exit.

A week had passed since the extension had been finished and the area was already quite inhabited. Though it was obvious that it would take time to properly fill, not everyone wanted to move, and it wasn't like Gerudo Town was saturated with people.

She greeted the guards on the door before wandering off into the desert, ignoring their confused expressions. Once she was far enough she allowed herself to become male once more before retrieving the Rito mask.

It felt wrong to change so soon after being locked in a form for so long. But he would still be wandering the desert for a day or two, at best, looking for the segment.

With the early sun heating the sands, it was easy to glide in the direction he had been told; helped by the sensation coming from the fountain. He took a moment to look inward towards the latest perk he had acquired, a product of getting Isha to learn wielding magic.

It was the basics, something slightly above a list of do's and don'ts. But it certainly helped and it was something that covered practically all of his skills, he could easily teach magic, forging, enchanting, potion making, cooking, one of the many hard sciences he already knew and more. Some would still require the student to be capable of doing them, but they could certainly learn the theory.

It would hopefully expedite the leftover teaching to the Gerudo, his current stay on Hyrule was definitely coming to an end soon, and with the nature of the Outside who knew when he would be able to return.

Flying over the desert was incredibly boring, no matter where he looked it was the same shifting dunes everywhere, and if it wasn't for the System and his abilities it would have certainly been very easy to get lost and die from the heat.

Thankfully soon he saw something in the distance, rising from the golden sands pillars of ivory. He flew down and was surprised to find that the structure was actually another set of fossilized Leviathan remains, and under its shadow, a familiar, giant bulb rested.

Once he landed he released the mask and put it away before approaching the fountain. He could feel the slight thrum of magic sluggishly flowing below. With this one it would mean his magic would have been poured into the four corners of the land.

He didn't even get to the mushroom stairs when the bulb stirred and a hand poked out. By now he was pretty sure it was some kind of custom, even if they were literally begging for rupees.

"A traveler, after so long~" Her melodious voice echoed out.

"Good morning." He greeted and stepped up, taking her hand and delicately kissing the back of her finger. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Tera, I'm Magnus, and I come from Cotera to refill your reserves."

He could practically feel her blinking. "Oh? That's interesting, and here I was going to ask you for a donation of rupees."

"I don't believe you missed my presence as I've visited all other fountains by now. I also have a small gift to help you stay in contact with the other Great Fairies." He explained. "So tell me when you're ready."

"Oh ho ho, it's been a long time since someone proposed to me like this, go ahead." Magnus practically heard an unspoken 'do your worst' added at the end.

He couldn't help but grin as his access to his magic was nearly unstopped compared to before. "As you wish." He whispered and poured his mixed elements into the Great Fairy.

He felt Tera go stiff as his power flowed into her, a veritable river for the dry reservoir she held. It was hard to imagine how difficult it was to deal with such a hot desert. It wasn't like there was no life on it, but he had seen less animal variety compared to other Worlds he had visited. Made him wonder if it was a side-effect of the way the land had been created in conjunction with all the magic that flowed around, many plants didn't need such a varied number of pollinators when magic could fill some roles here and there.

The fairy's hand squirmed a bit, but he held on firmly as he could feel her limits and was still far from them. He did ignore a few of the noises she was making with her voice, poor woman, she had definitely gotten the worst cut of Hyrule. If the other Great Fairies were not being visited so close to towns and villages, her case was even worse so far into the desert.

It took almost a minute longer than with the other Great Fairies to fill her up. He gently let go.

"There we go." He announced his task was done.

"There we go he says…" A fulfilled sigh escaped the inside of the bulb and her hand was pulled back in, quite quickly in fact. "It's certainly been a long time since I've been like this~" She whispered before the bulb started to shift and pump.

The excess magic escaped out of the top, the familiar purple carrying very familiar sparkles of black and white. After a moment the whole fountain bloomed and revealed the water pool from which the Great Fairy surfaced.

She was nearly identical to the other fairies, gigantic, buxom and covered in twinkling jewelry. The main difference was her bone-white hair and pale complexion.

"Hmm, it feels so good to be restored, and…" She shivered and sighed. "I can feel further than before, it's as if the light coming down was getting turned into more magic."

"I'm glad to hear that, with this I've visited all of the fountains." Magnus noted. "Though before I leave, I've another thing to give you." He retrieved the communication artifact. "This was made so you can communicate with the other Great Fairies or Lady Purah from the Sheikah." He quickly showed Tera how to turn it on, call, turn it off and switch it into a ring; funnily enough his latest perk helped expedite this.

"Simply impressive." Tera admired the new jewel on the back of her middle finger.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it." He smiled. "On one more thing before I leave," he looked around, "would it be wrong if I turn this area into an oasis? I'm thinking of a ring around the Leviathan's remains; it should coexist quite easily with your fountain."

Tera thought about it for a moment before nodding. With that said, Magnus moved a bit away from the fountain. He was glad to have already bought a series of seeds from local plants that did grow on the desert while he stayed in Gerudo Town, using a few to start an oasis would make his work easier.

He held the seeds in one hand as the other touched the loose sand before he allowed his magic to pour into the complex spell once more. Unlike the first time, instead of digging down and shifting things around, he would need to force the sand and rock to transmutate; thankfully earth was close enough to sand for magic. All he would need to do is-

"What's that?!" He stopped and turned around to look at the fairy. "That's some really old magic, I hope you understand what you're doing."

"I can imagine it's old, it was a gift from Din." He pointed out. "And given the uses explained in the spell, I assume it was used by people in the category of evil." He half-joked. "Don't worry, the spell's not evil, just very good at building and creating, it's mainly the person using it that will twist its results."

He left the large part of it that covered curses and torture tools.

"I will trust you."

He thanked her and got back into it. Light magic was poured into the sands, the grains melting into a golden liquid that extended in a massive circle around the fossilized skeleton. He was certainly not his brother and his domain over life, it didn't mean his Light wasn't capable of soothing and improving growth.

The golden ring slowly shifted into a rich brown before he dropped the seeds into the shifting land, the current dragged them around. Minute fragments of ancient opal mixed in the sand were used to create large amounts of water as the ground drank it greedily.

His Light saturated the seeds and green plants practically exploded out. Grass sprouted from the still fluid earth, palm trees grew by the edges of the massive ring of water, Hydromelon vines spread through the area, round cactus quickly swelled on the outside to create a barrier against the winds and sand carried by it, and multiple types of flowers and bushes grew around the massive skeleton.

Once he had finished the area was feeling cooler, less dry. He could feel the new plants practically mingle with the natural magic from the Fairy Fountain.

"Oh my goddess… it's beautiful."

"I'm glad you like this, as long as you are around it should last. And even if you for some reason leave it should become self-sustaining." He rubbed his chin. "I wonder if it could even spread."

"I don't know if it'll spread, but I can see enjoying my stay around these parts much more now." She laughed. "And it means I may even get travelers once more." She huhuhu'ed for a moment. "Would you come closer for a moment? Spring's beginning and I've the perfect way to start it."

Magnus nodded and climbed up the stairs once more. He watched the Great Fairy laugh demurely and move, he didn't feel any hostility so he didn't react.

He would not be leaving for a few more hours.

Magnus walked placidly through the desert, completely unbothered by the shifting sands, the dry winds and the still-beating sun. It had been quite the relaxing situation with Tera, and so far all he had done after leaving was wander North and then East.

So far there was no sign of the segment, but the wandering allowed him to think about… nothing in particular. It was just simple mental wandering as he wandered in a huge spiral around Gerudo Town. Revisiting old memories was nice, organizing his mind, reassessing his priorities.

The sun was setting down, he would not stop just because it was night, neither the cold nor the lack of light bothered him.

The main difference between day and night was that there were a few more monsters at night, mainly Stalkoblins and Keese. He didn't walk all the way to the North edge of the desert, instead walking parallelly to it at a distance to maximize his searching radius.

Even the whole night of walking didn't reveal the segment, he did stop to create a few small oases, hopefully they would last or resonate with each other. He passed by the bazaar by early morning before continuing South, he could feel himself coming closer.

He saw a large set of ruins in the distance and marked them to visit later as the System finally caught signal of the ship's segment. He was practically a few dozen meters when he felt something else.

All the while he was on the desert he kept Solid&Firm active, allowing him to peer under the surface. And now he felt something moving through the sands.

It was large, hostile and was coming for him.

He quickly launched himself up before getting the Rito mask on. Just a moment later a massive fish-like monster came out, biting the spot he had been standing.

No, it was not a fish, at least not only. It was a disproportionate mix of some kind of lizard, frog, shark and lionfish. It was deformed and angry at everything. Its mouth is large enough to swallow Sandseals whole with their riders on top.

Its nasty fin pointed to its position if the bulge on the sands moving around didn't too. Its oversized jaw acted as a sort of spade to help it dig. He had read about them; it was more or less the last monster he had to see on Hyrule outside of a few variations of monsters he had already fought.

He easily kept himself up as he watched the monster and looked around, quickly finding a solid stone spire to land safely. It was thankfully a well known, and true, fact that stone was a safe spot to run away from the monsters.

They could ram them, but usually knocked themselves out for a few minutes if they tried. What he needed was a way to get it out of the sand to attack it.

He removed the mask and properly activated his boots, their exterior shifted into the rock-like patterns as his perception expanded under the rock. A soft kick echoed through the sand, even as muffled by the millions of grains, he could see the monster stalking the area.

Close&Personal hit each other as he punched his fists together before jumping down onto the sand, instantly the monster changed its attitude and rushed towards his position. His back foot slid back as his posture relaxed, arms brought to a basic guard.

The moment the Molduga was close enough he lifted his back foot, bringing his knee to his chest before stomping down with his full power. The rock below the monster erupted into a solid pillar that shot the surprised monster out of the sand.

Magnus didn't wait for it to fall down before he jabbed once, twice. The deformed monster's fall was arrested for a moment before finally hitting the sand stunned. His fist were covered in flames as he started to wail on the monster's softer stomach, the element wasn't the most effective against the beast at first. But the damage was piling quite quickly.

The monster recovering its senses and flailing around forced him to jump away to keep from getting hit. It quickly buried itself under the sand, looking quite angry, it swam around under the sand, keeping its distance away from him.

But Magnus wouldn't just let it stand back and wait, he was the one to rush forward. He jumped up and slammed with both feet down, once more bringing the Molduga out of the sand to kill it, though this time he replaced his gloves for his trident and thrust it through the monster's weakened stomach to pierce at what passed for its heart.

The trident twisted and the little humidity inside the monster twisted along, tearing through the monster's insides. He yanked it out and jumped back as the monster's vitality was such that it didn't die straight away, instead flailing around for almost a minute before finally breaking off.

"System, start to dig the segment out." He ordered and started to pick up the leftover monster bits.

He felt the ground stir deep below him, but he also felt multiple things moving underground in his direction. It seemed he was practically calling every Molduga in the area. He couldn't help but chuckle, it looks like he may not run out of Monster loot for a while at this rate.

Magnus returned to Gerudo Town by the next morning, it had been about two days since she had left, once there she focused completely on teaching Isha all about the basics of enchanting. Now that the woman could actually enchant the gemstones, she focused on teaching her the basics of magical safety.

She doubted the woman would ever be an active magic-user. But no one said that enchanting was not a very respectable job too, especially providing such a useful commodity. Gerudo Town already worked with gemstones in lots of ways, one that was more accessible for everyone was bound to sell well.

It turned into quite a busy week where the most interesting thing was the need for her presence during a birth over at the married quarters, the matron was currently busy with something else. In many ways, this was a blessing as the birth she was dragged into was more than a bit complicated.

Not only was it the birth of twins, but one of them was backwards while the other had their umbilical cord wrapped around their neck. Magnus didn't want to think bad of the local Matron, but even modern hospitals would have a problem with these kinds of births. It would have required a cesarean section to even start treating the situation.

Thankfully Magnus could cheat, though she didn't feel it was cheating when she had three lives on the line. Thirty minutes after being called for the unexpected birth, the mother was happily holding two young Gerudo babies. The father, a Hylian, looked entranced at her.

She got thanked multiple times, but she still recommended the mother to have plenty of rest and left her a stamina potion that would help her recover what she had lost during the pregnancy.

Still, soon it came the end date she had placed upon herself.

"I feel like I've been in this situation before." Magnus thought for herself out loud as Isha, Cara, Riju and Buliara watched her at the North Gate.

"After the services you've provided, watching your departure is just a formality." Riju said.

"When will you come back?" Isha asked promptly.

She thought for a moment. "I don't think I'll be back for about three years, maybe a bit more, at the moment I've more or less completed my plans for Hyrule and it's time I leave for the next step of my journey." She explained. "I need to touch ground with my family, it's certainly been a long time."

Riju nodded knowingly, she could see it meant a lot for the chieftain and could only imagine the context.

"Where will you be heading now?" Riju changed the subject.

"I'm heading to Hateno Village, that's my last stop to put something together before departing for real." Magnus answered. "If you want to leave me a message I would suggest reaching for Lady Purah of the Sheikah. Thinking about it, I don't know how much it may take me to return, so she may move the plan ahead first and reach for you, hear her, or whoever she sends."

Riju nodded. "The Sheikah have been a good friend of the Gerudo for a long time, the least we can do is hear them." Her tone was serious but lighthearted.

Magnus nodded. "Good. Well, I think that's all, it's time I fly away. But first…" She breathed in and released the transformation, returning to his body as the four witnesses had their mouths open in surprise. "Much better, I've nothing against being female, but I prefer being male." He retrieved the Rito mask. "See you around."

He placed the mask upon his face, with a beat of his wings and a pull on the wind, he rose up while disturbing the sand a bit and flew off. He ignored the calls from behind, instead he flew faster, he wanted to cross Hyrule as fast as possible.

He was glad to have already messaged Purah ahead of time before landing outside of his house, the woman and her assistant were already waiting. She looked way too eager for it to be nearly midnight.

"Are you sure you remembered to mature your mind along with your body?" He teased with a full grin once the Rito mask came off his face. "I would have thought you were more patient than this."

"Bah, I'm patient, for example, I'm not asking about that mask of yours." She huffed.

"It's nice to see you in good health, Symin." He greeted the man.

"Same to you, Magnus, there's something different about you. But you look practically the same." He laughed.

"Quite sensitive." He chuckled. "Come on, I'm sure Purah will jump at me if I keep her waiting for longer."

He ignored her cute growl as they stepped into the base behind the house and went all the way to the large hangar.

"So you remembered everything?" Symin prompted as he started to let the ship segments out.

"Nearly everything, if I had to say the last locks will be released once I leave the World and call home. Though I know I'm forgetting something very important." He sighed.

"These… don't look like a ship at all!" Purah complained as eleven segments floated in the empty hangar.

"Of course not, most of the ship's right off-kilter to reality. And that's both the inside and outside." He explained. "System, reassemble the Long Fortune."

Eleven house-sized segments came together, smooshing together they started to move like a massive, 3-Dimensional puzzle box. It quickly started to expand and shift, panels moving around as large segments sprouted out, twisted and relocated.

"The sheer spatial compression to fit that much matter…" Purah mumbled.

"I mean, it's more impressive when you think about certain facilities inside of the ship." He pointed out, there was the green house which was basically a small country of land and a few other spots. "It's still not the most, dad did put two suns inside my soul and the necessary space for them to fit comfortably."

The woman groaned and rubbed the bridge of her nose as she obviously pushed the comment off the way.

"So why did you name it Long Fortune?" Symin spoke up.

"Oh, I didn't name it, instead it was… Oh…" Magnus felt a shiver go down his spine. "Oh she's going to be so angry with me."

"Who's going to be angry at you?" Purah prompted. "Besides me for keeping the ship in pieces."

Before Magnus could answer, the ship finished shifting. It was long enough that it was fitting quite closely inside the hangar, it wasn't going to be hard to leave. But it was definitely going to need an expansion.

The ship was shaped like an elongated cylinder, its corners rounded to provide a gentler silhouette. The belly of the ship was a stark white while the sides and back were an emerald green, silver lines decorated it. Multiple sources of light turned on and aimed down upon them before a loud voice boomed out.

"MAGNUS!"

Chapter 55

Venturing the Wild – 55

Magnus felt like this was the moment where he would swallow and apologize. But instead Purah was the one to speak.

"Who's that?"

"That's… well," he scratched his cheek, "one of my younger sisters."

"FIVE HUNDRED AND SIXTY DAYS! OVER A YEAR AND A HALF!" The voice boomed in the hangar and he was glad the mountain would muffle it. "YOU KNOW WHAT?! I'M COMING OUT!"

A green portal formed just a few meters away from them and her sister came out. A couple centimeters taller than him, netting her a nice and round meter seventy. Her orange hair was done in a pixie-cut. Her body's figure was hidden mostly by the mechanic jumpsuit she wore, the white t-shirt exposed as she held the jumpsuit top off and held around her waist. Apparently she had copied the look from an old show he had never seen.

"Don't doubt for a moment I will go through the System's records and check what you've been up to." She pointedly poked him on the chest.

He laughed and pulled her into a hug she quickly replied. "It must have been hard at first." She whispered in his ear.

"Hmm, it's good to have you back, even if it must be just a few hours for you." He told her before turning to the two researchers. "Purah, Symin, this is one of my younger sisters, Orange Andes, she's also the true owner of the Long Fortune, or well… it's better to say-"

"I am the ship." Orange interrupted. "Or well, the ship's an extension of myself."

"How can that be possible?" Symin asked. "I think I read the records about something similar happening in the past. But in that case the person was more of a spirit inhabiting an object."

"It's more to do with my race." Orange pointed out and her features melted away to show her metallic skin. "I'm a third-gen Metaloid, I don't know if my brother mentioned my kind. We're created by the same man, though different from most third-gens who are born from at least one other Metaloid, I was built by him directly."

"Wait, born? You aren't a machine?" Purah prompted, leaning closer to look at her from close up.

"Oh, not really. We're living metal beings, it's just that we're really compatible with technology. We're capable of pairing with most humanoid species. The result it's usually one or the other race, though we do inherit a few characteristics from our parents. So Metaloids tend to be born with a few qualities from the other race, and the other race tends to get greatly improve bodies and souls." She explained.

"I think I did mention that dad's creation abilities are on par with gods." Magnus mentioned offhandedly. "How's the ship's Remote Core working?" He prompted his sister.

"Oh, it's booting up correctly, it seems your System already set up the basic connection so it should properly finish initializing soon."

"What does she mean?" Purah interrupted.

"I will sadly not be able to show you during the tour, but the Remote Core's basically a tiny version of the Informational and Records Core back home. You could call it the DD network's much bigger older brother, it accumulates all the knowledge and experience everyone connected provides." He explained and Orange continued.

"It accumulates, organizes and provides information while also supporting all Systems connected. The Remote Core does something similar in a smaller frame, it mainly connects to the local Akashic Record, or similar, and once finished booting-up it sort-of resonates with the one back home to share information by being the same thing in two different places." She explained.

"How… how much information is that exactly?"

"A lot." Magnus answered simply. "It's the concentration of dozens of Worlds and the life experience of millions upon millions of beings. It's honestly taken a whole new meaning, just by itself it's technically on dad's level, and that's why he kinda made it part of himself to keep it in check."

"Though given how dad treats his creations, it's more likely it will be called a son or daughter than anything else." Orange said and laughed.

"Is your father crazy?" Purah asked dryly.

""Very."" Both replied in unison and laughed.

"But really, dad just doesn't think in a normal way. While he's still pretty good at acting 'mortal', it's usually a sort-of overlay he puts on his physical bodies. Sometimes his logic just doesn't make sense from most points of view."

"But let's stop talking about dad, let me take you on a tour! It's been strangely long and short since I met new people." She turned to Magnus. "And I'll have a talk with you later in private, I can't believe some things you have and haven't done."

Magnus laughed, showing his hands to appease her.

"Finally!" Purah cried out. "Come on, show me. Though I've to ask, how long till you leave?"

"A day or two, I want to write a few things down and leave you a few ideas and projects in case it takes me longer to return." He answered.

"You think it will take that long?"

"You remember the magic talk we had about dates and times?" She nodded to his question. "The Outside loves to play by those rules, so it's most likely that if I leave I won't return until Link has awoken in here. Even if it may be just a few months for us."

"You're expecting to take that long outside?" Purah prompted.

"It's more that I know that I will take that long." He answered. "It has to do with the high likely-hood that me visiting some World ends up with me in the middle of something that I won't be able to ignore."

"Enough talking." Orange called out and opened a green portal. "Follow me. The ship can technically be boarded by foot, but these are faster and great at showing off."

"You know, I forgot to ask, but what are these?" Purah asked as they stepped through and into the ship's bridge.

"While dad created a lot of tech, a good chunk's actually repurposed and learned from other species." Orange replied. "These portals were originally called Spacebridges, or well, these are close to the small variety Groundbridge. They are two way worm holes that allow instant passage between two separated space points."

"And the reach?"

"A few thousand kilometers for this variety, the Spacebridge variety is measured in distance crossed by light in an hour. But outside of a very specific versions they tend to be very large installations as they are meant to transport spaceships." Orange replied. "Anyways, welcome to the ship's bridge. It's mainly used during conflict as it's the second most secure spot on the ship, also used for meetings as I usually take care of all of the systems on my own."

"It's also usually used during departure from Worlds, most people just spend their time around the ship doing whatever." Magnus noted as they moved down the ship's main hallway. "The ship's equipped with a couple dozen bedrooms."

"Three dozen." Orange corrected.

"Why so many?" Symin prompted.

"Because we have the space?" Magnus answered with a shrug. "It's not like they are really there unless needed, usually there's only about four to six bedrooms physically there. And in this case only two are in use."

"Then there's the general area, mess hall, kitchens, recreation rooms," Orange listed as they passed by the rooms, "all capable of resizing to accommodate the number of crew members."

"There's the storage, which, while it carries plenty of produced goods, it can produce more as long as the ship remains working." He pointed out. "And then there's the Greenhouse, I will be planting practically every seed I found on Hyrule, once it gets going it will provide the ship with fresh produce." He explained as they crossed a small hallway with glass walls.

"Then there's medical, mainly stocked up with a few emergency healing items and long-term treatment." Orange explained. "Though I will note that anything that needs long-term treatment is usually something requiring professional attention."

"We may need to pick up a doctor somewhere." Magnus mused out loud. "I can certainly carry the basics, but I do have other things I would prefer to take care of."

"Oh, I almost forgot to explain something." Orange piped up. "While this body is my main, I do have a few copies of myself around the ship, all of them are still stored for now, but I will be deploying them soon. Has my brother explained the Class and Job System?" Purah nodded. "Okay, in my case it's all about crewing the ship, one of those abilities is large-scale multi-tasking. I'm effectively the ship and its crew."

"What I would give for multiple bodies." Purah sighed.

"I think that was my dad's thought early on, that's why he worked towards having multiple bodies. Last count was seven, but I think he was working on an eight by the time we left." Magnus told them. "I can get into the specifics later, but let's say not every body is what you would expect."

Orange laughed. "Next is the workshops, currently it's pretty empty, but I don't doubt my brother will claim the place."

"Oh yes, I will need to build some tools to specification, but with access to the storage it means I don't have to worry about material limits anymore."

"I'm so jealous." Purah grumbled, earning herself a giggle from everyone.

"Anyways, next is the training rooms, they are designed to improve learning of both theoretical and practical. It's also linked to the System to help the users' growth. They can withstand quite a beating, so they are great to blow your stress away."

"And finally there's the engine and security." Orange announced, and to Purah and Symin's surprise the room was empty. "Ha! I love people's reaction to seeing this room." She laughed. "Unfortunately I can't actually show you the power generation and security systems, safety measures."

"And by that she means for you, it's literally hazardous to observe both systems as they do things that only dad can understand and observe. I could observe it, but it would be like trying to understand how magic works by looking at a mundane rock." He shrugged after explaining.

"Now what?" Symin asked.

"Now you two should go to sleep, I need to touch ground with my sister and get her up to date on what happened, even if she could totally just look through the System's records." Magnus explained.

"Where should I open the portal?" Orange prompted.

"There's a house on the top of a hill North-East from here." Magnus answered. "Don't worry, I won't leave during the night, it's not my style. But I really want some private time to talk with my sister."

Purah sighed. "Okay, have fun you two."

"It was a pleasure meeting you, Miss Orange." Symin bowed. "And thank you for showing me the ship."

"It's no problem." His sister waved it off as a green portal opened to allow the two of them to leave. "Five hundred and sixty days…" She sighed.

"In my defense, I didn't actually remember you had come with me." Magnus admitted. "Otherwise I would have moved faster, though maybe I should have done it anyway. Outside of a few of the ship's pieces they were all pretty easy to pick up."

She grumbled. "I can't really be too angry at you for that." She sighed as the two of them moved to the mess hall where one of her extra bodies was putting together some snacks. "Though I can be angry at you for not remembering this is a World we know something of?"

Magnus' mouth twisted. "Yeah… that." He leaned back on his chair. "That only came back very recently, and by then it didn't change much, so I kept it out of my mind. Did you already find which game we're in? I never was too much into video games."

"Closest is Breath of the Wild, but you appear to have entered a few years before the start of the game and everything is more. Which points to being a more realistic version of the game."

"Bleh, I always hated that description." He admitted.

"I know, but it's the most correct. Though maybe you prefer I use the term more alive?" He nodded to her question. "Yeah, it's more alive, the game's representation wouldn't be able to support itself, the number of people would mean it would collapse pretty quickly."

"Anything interesting about the game?" He asked.

"Hmm, records don't show anything too big, Link awakens with amnesia," she shot him a grin, "and just wanders around doing his stuff. The spirit of the champions should be still locked in the Divine Beasts."

"I wonder if we could give them a second chance… I don't think the One-use Miracles will be enough. But maybe I could contact Milo." He mused.

"They appeared to be quite happy to pass on at the end of the game from what I'm reading. But it's also true that there was nothing else for them to do, it was that or haunt Link." Orange read further. "There's also a note about a sequel that ended up not coming out."

"I wonder how guilty dad is." He thought out loud before both of them laughed. "Most likely fell through the cracks during the restructuring of the twenties, strange since the first game was considered very popular."

"Not much else, while the game's open world and had plenty to explore there wasn't much in the department for twists, though it's kinda pointed that Malice Ganon's not actually Ganon. But nothing much was revealed about that, so expect things to not be done once that monster's taken care of. I recommend you keep an eye out for something that could deal with Demise, the origin of the whole Ganon curse, it could certainly help much more than dealing with its current mouthpiece."

"Maybe I will invite Milo and Claire to help with that, the three of us together would most likely obliterate it completely." He chuckled.

"Yeah, Demise and easily half of Hyrule." She shot back dryly. "I'm sure there are better ways to do it."

"Okay, okay, party-pooper. I will look into curses and purification techniques, it would certainly fit well with my whole Light and Darkness." He agreed. "Funnily enough I do have a bit of Ganon's knowledge." He showed her the Triforce mark on the back of his hand. "Din gave me a bit of his knowledge and experience in using magic to create and build dungeons and fortresses. It's very useful and there's some curses mixed in with puzzles and traps."

"I'm so jealous, do you have an idea how much the fans of the series would pay for something like that?" Orange joked.

"I had to fight a corrupted dragon, face divine lightning and kill a King Gleeok to get the three crests." He said. "Also, talking about the King Gleeok, I will need help butchering the corpse, it's practically a small hill of meat, bones and scales."

"Sure, but you will have to provide the tools." Orange said between nibbles on her snacks. "Also, dad really set you on the path to follow him, no?"

"No problem with that." He smiled. "And yes, I don't think I would have chosen any other Job, it's even kept me from choosing any alternate jobs."

"Ha! Also Forger Traveler? Sounds so weird."

"Shut up CC." He teased her.

"You know it's Commander and Crew, why do you have to short it to that?"

"Because the System does it too." He cheekily pointed out.

"Bah! Anyways, you aren't taking anyone from here with us?"

"Purah's the one that would be most interested in coming along, I don't doubt she would get a lot from the experience. But she's too important for Hyrule at the moment, maybe after dealing with the whole thing here."

He emptied his drink, the burning of the alcohol going down nicely. "We leave the World, leave a buoy, contact home and then just wander to see what we stumble into."

"Sounds good to me." She nodded.

"Perfect, I will go start with the Gleeok corpse, I also have a few projects I want to leave for Purah and Robbie to play around with." He stretched. "It's good to have you back, Orange."

She laughed. "It's good to be awake." She grinned. "Just ping me when you need the extra hands."

He nodded and headed towards the workshops, he would need to craft a few tools first. And then it was getting messy.

"Here." He handed Purah a bracelet made in a similar fashion to Ancient Sheikah Tech.

"What is this?"

"When I finished the last test from the Springs' attendants I received multiple sources of knowledge." He started to explain. "One of them was a very long list of tools, items and artifacts the heroes of Hyrule have used over the many years. This bracelet is capable of replicating a number of those."

She blinked surprised. "Like? And how do you use it?"

"Hookshot, elemental rods, magical staves, digging claws, heavy boots, remote bombs, truth lenses, and many others. Of course I've not been able to replicate them all, though I've made a list with a proper explanation of all of them." He explained. "As for how to use it, you link it with a Purah Pad and it effectively replicates them as the runes the pad could use. That means it can also use the Cryo, Stasis and Remote Bombs. I wanted it to replace the pad completely, but I simply don't have the time." He added wryly.

"That's very greedy of you, it took me many decades to even start improving on the old Sheikah Slate." She glared at him, even if the comment held no fire to it.

"Anyways, it still should work quite well as a companion to the pad and remove the need to hold it for use. Right now it uses a combination of vocal orders and hand signs, but I don't doubt you can improve it. I also programmed the hookshot rune for mobility, a fire and an ice elemental shot, a short lived shield based on the Ancient Sheikah Shield and the Gust Jar, which allows its user to suck and blow air."

"Those are pretty interesting." She studied the piece.

"Though I would recommend no one but Link or a Goron uses the hookshot until properly tested." He noted and added grimly. "I'm pretty sure I calculated the draw force and body reinforcement well, but it could rip the user's arm off."

Purah just looked at him before sighing.

"The others should still be safe to use, outside of the inherent dangers of blowing fire and ice, or controlling large amounts of wind."

She wanted to sigh, something that was becoming way too frequent when dealing with him. "So this is your departure gift?"

"More or less, I did add some extra info to the DD Network. But outside of that it's time to leave."

"It'll be weird to not have you around after all you have done." She took her glasses off.

"I was just helping."

"You advanced the Goron and Zora's forging, you got Robbie and me back in contact and started the Dee Dee Network, rebuilt the Tabantha Bridge, expanded Gerudo Town and who knows what else while you were wandering around." She listed. "You've done a lot for Hyrule. But I think it's also time we start to do it, Link will be waking up in a few years and curse the Calamity if I won't make sure he gets back onto his feet as fast as possible."

"Be kind with him, I bet he will be as forgetful once he wakes up as I was." He joked with the truth. "Anyways, I will come back with knowledge, most likely a few new friends, and even possibly my siblings."

Purah looked aghast. "Please no, I can't even imagine the danger of having two more of you running around."

"Come on, Milo's not that bad, he's great at that morality talk." He laughed.

"And your sister?" He said nothing. "I thought so." She sighed. "But it's not like I can stop you."

"You still have the Yiga around, no idea what those idiots will get up to."

"I know, they go from extremely dangerous to completely goofy. It's the only reason they haven't killed us all."

"There's also the corrupted Guardian, no idea where it has gotten to." He added. "I think I saw it on my way to Gerudo Town, but I couldn't confirm it. So keep an eye out for it during Blood Moons, those will be growing more frequent as time comes."

She nodded. "Stay safe."

"You know I will just throw myself into danger as long as there's a good reason, right?"

She sighed defeated. "I know."

"Also, one more thing." He retrieved a box from his inventory. "It's a new set of clothes, enchanted for multiple things, just check the message I left for you. Call it half a gift, half a promise to return and improve on it."

"...thanks."

He smiled. "Anything for a friend." Magnus surprised her with a hug, one she took a moment to return.

"If you can't be safe, return as whole as possible."

"That I can do." He laughed and stepped off through one of the portals. He had already said his goodbyes to his other acquaintances. "All ready?"

"All ready." Orange replied from her spot on the ship's bridge.

The large hangar door opened and let in the starlight and the sight of the Necluda Sea.

"Once we return you will show me around." His sister ordered.

"I bet we'll be running around a lot once we return." Magnus chuckled.

The ship slowly slid out of the hangar, orienting itself towards the open ocean. A massive ring of light opened on the air before the space contained by it wavered, the barrier of reality softening.

He felt a warm sensation on the back of his hand. "I think we're getting the confirmation for departure."

"Then let's go!" Orange ordered the ship and pierced through the ring.

The ring closed once the ship crossed the threshold, only a few people watching this event as Magnus and Orange effectively left the World.

For the two people in the Long Fortune reality was peeled away. Logic and concepts lost their meaning as the Outside welcomed the ship as an old friend.

"All systems green, we've left the World safely." Orange read out loud. "Deploying World Buoy and sending a ping home."

"Good." Magnus looked down at his screens. "We're really far from home, no?"

"Yes, definitely outside of the mapped Outside. Though that just means we're trailblazing here."

"Just make sure we don't end in pieces again." He joked, knowing full well she had been as offline as he had.

"The buoy is online, but we're not getting any response ping from here. Most likely some large World's in the way. I'm going to start moving and try again in a bit." She announced.

After just a few minutes of flying the ship shook with the force of something that wasn't exactly gravity.

"What was that?"

"It looks like we're getting pulled by a pretty big World." Orange complained.

"How big?" He activated his terminal to try and help.

"Massive, it looks like time has looped on itself way too many times. It also has very soft limits." She growled as the ship shook harder. "Lock all systems outside of indispensable."

"Doing it." He replied. The process practically turned the ship mostly into one solid piece, leaving barely any space inside as everything else space-time locked.

The Long Fortune still shook.

"Fuck!" Orange cursed. "I don't think we'll manage to escape. I will try my best to keep the ship from splitting once more."

"Got-" Magnus nearly hurled as the ship slid through the World's first threshold. "Oh… that didn't feel good."

"Ffff- it feels like a goddamn migraine, I shouldn't be able to feel like this." Orange called out as the bridge's lights turned red.

"Warning, User's continuity being threatened."

The System's message sent a chill down his spine. "Orange, I thi-"

He bent over as Reality tried to reassert onto them, he saw his sister curl on herself in pain.

"Warning, User's stability in danger, entering amorphic form to protect soul and mind. Warning, System's been compromised."

Magnus couldn't even complain as his fingers started to melt, he could feel his physical body turn into a liquid. Most color bled off, leaving him completely purple as his hair as he felt himself mold onto the chair he had been sitting; he was barely staying as a single unit and not just splattering out.

He barely had something that could be considered eyes to see her sister's body get dragged into the ship's bowel for safekeeping as the ship pierced through the last barrier between the Outside and the World's edge.

The few cameras to the outside showed a psychedelic night sky, fluid constructs shifting in the backroom of the void as another layer was pierced and they entered something a bit more real. Another and some concepts and logic started to exist again.

Magnus couldn't even see, but he could feel that they pierced through into real space before the gravity of a planet dragged them down. He was barely conscious as the ship made an emergency landing.

He was out cold by the time the first intelligent being approached the ship.

End of Arc

I loved every single chapter, I can barely wait….. nope I can't wait. I'm going to go reread Junk Emporium.
Thanks for the wonderful first arc!

I don't know if it'll spread, but I can see enjoying my stay around these parts much more now." She laughed.

I'm pretty sure they fucked, and that has to be the smoothest SFW "scene fade to black" I've ever read to cover it up

If its a looping setting... then Madoka is a good option (the only other option I can possible see is maybe Xenosaga*)

*Precursor series to Xenoblade

I've to say, they are pretty fun bits to write, 'Fade to black' and 'fade from black too'. Also yes, Magnus follows the book of the bard.

Looped time makes me think it's Madoka. I'm not sure if I want to be correct or not.

It's not, it's a comic I've been wanting to write about for a while. Once it's revealed I will post a link to somewhere to read about it (since it will have ramifications past being the first pit stop).

You probably need to add a little something after the scene change, he's kinda just doing business as usual without any of the pep in his step that's gotta happen after being-pleasured/pleasuring a giantess otherwise I almost missed the innuendo

It's kind the curse and the blessing of his body, Magnus' body really doesn't work like other people. It's actually pretty hard to inflict an effect on it that won't get pushed away and get him back to normal unless he really wants it to stick.

Oh, oh, oh... please tell me it's Skeleton Soldier. And that you have a link to a stable, English translated edition past the Rubiaria (sp?) reclamation point of the story! Please! Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease!

{Edit} Elsewise, we're dealing with a variation of Re:Zero that does time travel in a generic fantasy D&D land... and while not bad, per se, typically isn't what I'd call gripping. Although, if it avoids typical Korean/Chinese power wank fetish fantasizing, and can tell a story without relying on clichés and contrived/derivative context; it'll be a step up from 95% off the trash sea waste the spews forth from that region regarding their comic material. (97% from the region a little further south and east)

*Blinks* Sorry, um don't mind the rant... no need to derail, ignore if you prefer... no need to comment.

Oh? Is it something mainstream, a manga, or an indie work?

I'm conflicted about answering any more questions about it XD Eh, one more week and it shall be revealed.

Nothing against you liking that story, but personally I found it incredibly dull even after working through like 80 or so chapters. The loops were just way too long, causing me to get invested in the current loop only to ruin the pacing by rolling over to the next.

... That, uh, was kinda the point? The futility of trying to change things on one's own; leading to set backs, and resets. Always happening when Skelly decides "Fuck it, we ball." It's about patience and persistence, and the dangers/consequences of being impatient and/or letting one's frustrations get to them to act out/rashly. I do admit that it has a habit of continuously expanding the setting so that the MC has something/someone to clash against. And it harkens back to the original Wuxia concept before Xanxia/Wuxia became misogynistic revenge porn.

It's literally the journey of learning from one's mistakes. Mayhaps slightly unrealistically due to just how quickly Skelly does, but still. And it does so in a predominately simple way; the use of common sense. So, yeah, okay, it's not flashy fights, big explosions, and westerner ideas of being "The Big Damned Hero" and it explicitly condemns that way of thinking/acting by causing such actions to fail and reset the timeline. Every time. And its from that that it derives it's drama, is the major impetus for Skelly's character growth. And teaches Skelly how to make, keep, treasure, and rely on friends.

Yeah, it's plodding, and it could do with a touch less exposition, but that's how it sets the story up for when there is action, and to point out why one set of action hero moments is good, and the other set isn't.

But yeah, I can see where the preachy, not at all subtle message (after all, I could grasp it, and I don't catch meanings like that easily) would turn off some people. It preaches moderation and judicious behavior in all actions, instead of rash bullheadedness.
