Really, beyond grinding for 100% bio unlocks, there's no reason to take them. What do they do that a grenadier can't do better? They don't even have Largo around to give out CPs with.

I bought and finished the game completely a few months ago. I really did like it. Not an excess of fanservice if you didn't select Minerva too often and the changes in gamplay from VC 1 were all for the better.

My only real complaint was that the story got a little too cringie anime.

Yes, I know what I just said and about what game series I just said it about.

Edit : Which is weird because I think the most anime of the franchise was VC 2 (we don't talk about Valkyria Revolution . . .) and I felt it handled it's plot comparatively gracefully despite being a fucking battle highschool anime.

My only complaint about the plot is that nobody calls out Kai(real) for his Hypocrisy when it comes to the Valkyrias weather it be a post game or other such event.
 
Can we all just collectively damn SAGA to hell because while I can buy a port of revolution on the play store, I cannot get one for 3, or hell even 2*

*re anime-ness of 2 vs 4, 4 dipped a little too much and kind of shamefacedly straddled the line, Two jumped the line on the bike from Akira ,while wearing Kamena's sunglasses, and brandishing vampire hunter D's sword. At a certain point you just roll with it.
 
I got the Valkyria 1 & 4 bundle on sale and I've been having fun with both of them.

Then the thing happened...

My thumb slipped and I accidentally mashed multiple buttons together, deleting my save file, followed by the dawning realization that I would have to replay the trial-and-error bullshit desert mission with the giant tank & Sylvaria again.

I think I'd rather finish 4 first...
