    Hello!

    Nominations will open tonight at , and will remain open until .

    For those of you who are looking for more information about the Users' Choice Awards generally, you can find it in this thread!

    In short, the Users' Choice Awards are where we come together as a community to chose our favourite creative works on SV. It is a time for our most popular and beloved quests and stories to come up and take a bow.

    The Awards take place in two phases. The Nomination Phase allows any user to nominate up to five quests or stories hosted on SV, across eight categories including this one.

    The five most-nominated threads in each category will then go forward to the Voting Phase, where one will be selected as the winner!

    Eligibility for Nomination to Best Completed Quest
    In order to be eligible for nomination, a thread must:
    • Be hosted on Sufficient Velocity.
    • Be a Quest.
    • Be complete; either tagged with the "Completed" tag or otherwise obviously finished.
    • Not have declined nomination by the author or QM.
    • Not have won the Award in a previous year.
    If you are still unsure about whether something meets the eligibility criteria, refer to the main announcement thread FAQ for clarification.

    How to Nominate
    You make your nominations by making a post in this thread. The rules are as follows:
    • You may nominate up to five threads.
    • You may edit your post up to the closing date, when the nominations will be counted. This is .
    • Each nomination must consist of only the copy-pasted titles of the threads you wish to nominate, formatted like Quest votes, for example:

    • If your nomination is not formatted correctly, there is a risk it may not be counted.

    Where to Discuss Nominations
    Discussion in the thread is welcome! This includes within your nominations post, just please try to keep any discussion separated from your nominations with a paragraph break or linebreak, as you would in a Quest vote. This makes it easier for the Holiday Elves we will be kidnapping volunteering to help us tally at the end. Thanks so much, and we look forward to seeing your nominations!

    How does that work with Quest that are in their epilogue posts (though no hard confirmation how many) or that had a strong "next update will be last" statement by author?

    I have a Quest for each of those scenarios that I'd like to nominate but am not sure whether in active or in completed. As they are technically still recieving an update, but aren't active quests to jump into and participate.

    It's great and criminally underrated. One of the best long form narrative showings this website has ever had.

    LOL, I kinda raised the same point in Ongoing Quests - but I parsed the rules very technically and voted for The Last Daughter in Ongoing Quests because it is - technically - still ongoing. But if the ruling comes down that it should be considered for Completed Quest instead in a "spirit of the rule" sense I will adjust.

    Then I would say this can class within Completed based on a common sense reading of the rules. If people have already voted for it in "Ongoing" then I won't discount those votes as they were made in good faith.

    Honestly we may have to look at clarifying this in the rules for next year. It had not occurred to me that we'd have stuff completing within the Nominations period, but honestly given it's a two-week window at the end of the year, I don't know why I hadn't. Unsure at present whether to require that works have to have Completed before the nominations begin, or whether to build in say, a week's grace period.

    So just a small note, it really helps us if you follow the format for nominations by copying the full title, otherwise it makes tallying a nightmare as there are like five different versions of every nominee.

    Makes sense to me! I just took a completely literal parsing of the rules since it was a gray area and I wasn't totally sure how to resolve that myself so I just defaulted to "well I suppose if we're being technical here..." in absence of official guidance.

    I totally understand why you didn't. Having any quest actually finish would usually be a rare event even within an even wider time-window. (Quest-Completion-Gazetteer is an outlier and should not be counted :V)

    Assuming I don't get struck dead by a car or something between now and finishing this update, I'll have a 43% quest completion rate. This is probably pretty good, comparatively.

    Young author gets isekai'd by truck-chan while finishing the last update/chapter of their Award nominated Work. (Or between nomination and the actual award ceremony)

    That sounds worryingly plausible for an isekai plot.

    Fan attention to works (in the other world) generates mana that can be spend to have parts of those works come to life. With cost depending on influence (harmless Illusion or able to affect the world), size, and time.

    Gazetteer. Please stay away from wild truck-kuns, random summoning circles, or overworking yourself.
