This seems interesting, I wonder if the protag will get hired by kuat to design small to medium ships, or maybe they could get him to look over some old designs to make them more efficient... maybe that's his specialty? Making efficient ships!
Then later he could start building ships for the republic during the clone wars, then maybe kidnapped or called out to look at how his ships are performing in the field.
Would be interesting to see a fix where the MC is going around the galaxy in an attempt to design the best possible ship! Maybe he could go to the gunguns for shield tech, the mando's for their missile and targeting systems, the umbarans for their control interface, kuat for production capabilities and various arty worlds for interior/exterior decouration to ensure that it doesn't look and feel like a lifeless block of metal.
