Titanicus Mercenarius (Battletech x 30k Crossover)

Maximillian Liao activated the comms to allow the soldier to hear him. "Detain that creature, do not allow him to depar..."
Yea...Max is not the brightest, dare I say a bit stupid, what did he expect from the people who could not give a fuck about the Ares Conventions. The Mechanicum plays lip service to them.
I do have one of the six gigaton warheads
Pretty sure this thing is meant for Void Combat, 6 GTs? That could ignite the atmosphere of Sian. I bet a lot of Houses are gonna get uncomfortable and everyone will realize one thing, do not fuck with the Mechanicum, these are the guys that brought a Planet Burner to the Cappy Homeworld and got away with it.

It's one of 112 submunitions for a Hulkbreaker torpedo, of which about 200-300 are needed to destroy space hulks reliably. They're considered inadequate for ship to ship combat.

The Taurians must be feeling very weird right now.

"So that's how everybody else looks at us."

Chapter 24;
Humanity Lost

Maximillian lifted his head from the bucket, a servant holding his hair free of his face. He tried not to contemplate the contents of the bucket, which included his last meal, though he would prefer contemplating that to facing the facts of what he was seeing in front of him. The people who had been nobles of the Capellan Confederation were no longer noble, and he was quite sure, not even human anymore.

They were lined up in a secure facility, disabled, hunched over themselves in something approximating a standby mode. Instead, he turned to the data that had been provided with them. They came in a number of varieties, a full third of them sporting replacements for their left arms, bearing reinforced spines and a heavy weapon of some kind. Others had cybernetic arms equipped with some sort of cord-like flail, chainsaw blades or other more bizarre apparatus.

"These do not look like servants." He said disgusted by the creatures. He examined the documents. "According to this, the activation phrase is Gladius Martis." A sense of dark premonition came over him as, as a single unit the entire group of modified nobles rose to a fully erect posture.

He ran, his elderly frame unsuited for it, but he heard the sound as gunfire began against the machines and light ripped out from them in return, and screaming began as the sound of mechanical limbs powering through flesh and body armour filled the air as the room of placid cyborgs turned into a combat drug fuelled murder frenzy.

New Avalon 3032 - July

Hanse Davion felt his skin prickle as he read the reports coming in from Sian, the news passed through the Inner Sphere like wildfire. But he had paid a very great deal to ComStar to obtain the rawest data they had on the Sian Incident. "I want your analysis of the information."

The MIIO analyst stood rigidly at attention, despite having been informed ot stand at ease. He looked uncomfortable, and unwell. "July 11th a vessel belonging to the Martian Mechanicum, under the authority of the Legio Astorum, delivered a Mule class Dropship to Sian, it landed at the spaceport of the capital and unloaded approximately seventy modified beings, we do not have an exact count as under orders from the Chancellor, no information was recorded or written down. They were transferred to a secure facility where they were assessed by the Maskirovka. According to our people, the Maskirovka could make the cyborgs do nothing. Deeming them secure, the Chancellor went to personally inspect them, and verify that they were in fact the nobles of the Confederation. From there our intelligence has become more... problematic."

Hanse studied the man and, nervously he continued. "We believe that the cyborgs were keyed to respond to an activation phrase spoken by Maximillian Liao's own voice. At this stage, all of them activated and turned on the security forces around them, we believe that Maximillian was killed before he escaped the chamber, but our people say that the forensics audit cannot verify this, over the next six hours the 'servitors' rampaged through the Celestial palace, it's estimated nearly seven hundred people within the Palace were slain before security managed to bring down the last of the 'servitors'."

"Do we have any detailed information on these servitors?" Hanse asked.

"No sir. Reportedly, each of the units on being disabled detonated some sort of thermal charge weapon. The only thing left was a datapad that had been provided with the... servitors. All its data was purged except for a single text message." The analyst finished.

Hanse finished off the report. "Do not make demands of Mars."

Tharkad 3032 - July

Katrina Steiner breathed easily as her MID analyst finished giving out the report. The Legio Astorum had cured her cancer, and they had benefitted from the assistance of the Legio Astorum, the Federated Commonwealth gaining much. But she knew through her daughter that Hanse was increasingly concerned by the actions of the Legio Astorum since they had gained Mars. But her data was extensive, perhaps not as extensive as MIIO's was, the MID just wasn't quite at their level.

She was less concerned than Hanse was however. The Capellan Confederation had long been a thorn in both of their sides, and truth be told, in the sides of anyone who had the misfortune to share a common border with the snakes in the grass. "Who survived the... event." She asked, the analyst knew she wasn't after the common rabble. She wanted to know who of significance survived.

The Analyst paused, and consulted the data. "Candace Liao, was in the St Ives Commonality trying to manage her declaration of independence without provoking a greater conflict, or risk the Magistry and Anduriens invading her own territory. MIIO still has Tormano Liao, but Romano Liao was present on Sian and survived the rampage across the Celestial Palace and, according to our people, was able to even kill one of the servitors after reaching her Cataphract and turning its PPC and Autocannon on it. She's crowing about her strength and declaring herself Chancellor of the Confederation."

"That... is a problem." Katrina said as she frowned. That was very bad. "What else has she... declared."

The analyst swallowed. "She has declared war on Legio Astorum and declared that she would raze Mars for their assassination of her father."

"Can the Capellan Confederation spare forces to even make that attempt?" She asked.

"Under the command of a fully sane and marginally competent leader or better, no. The Legio Astorum has made the price they're paying in the Andurien Sucession so high that the Confederation is already thinly defended. Under Romano Liao... we believe that she will actually strip worlds she deems as expendable of the forces they have defending them in order to make an all out run on Mars, I am unsure if even ComStar has the clout to put an end to it." The Analyst said.

"They won't." Katrina said, "In fact, I would wager they will happily do nothing."

"Archon?" The Analyst queried.

"If the Capellans succeed, then the Legio Astorum is given a taste of its own medicine and its growing power is curbed to a degree. But that won't happen." The quizzical expression on the Analysts face spoke to her. "I have been to Mars to receive treatment for my cancer. Their WarShip is going to annihilate the Capellans. And even if Romano pulls a WarShip of her own out of her ass, it isn't going to help."

Their WarShip is going to annihilate the Capellans. And even if Romano pulls a WarShip of her own out of her ass, it isn't going to help
Just wait until they start producing Escorts, that'll cause some concern. Then that'll turn into panic when the first Light Cruiser is completed, then pandemonium as the actual Cruisers and Heavy Cruisers start showing up, and then every intelligence agent ends up rocking back and forth in a corner when the Battleships, or maybe even when an Ark Mechancius is finished

Or would it be Ark Mechanicum since this isn't the Mechanicus?

I have a question about reposting your stuff I just want to spread The Wandering and spread the joy. Can I just cite you post links back to here? and put The Wandering on ex: royalroad, scribble hub, fanfiction.net, archive of our own, Wattpad, (maybe not Web novel), etc. Or at least some sample chapters and link them to you on here? You make nice stuff and want it to spread. Ranobes.top is pretty much a pirate site so not that.

Chapter 25;
Mars the Bringer of War

Terra System: 3033

The Inner Sphere held its breath, watching as ComStar threatened an Interdict against the Capellan Confederation, and were ignored as nearly a hundred Capellan JumpShips jumped into space in the Terra system, disgorging dropships as soon as they had safely co-ordinated their arrival. Every one of them igniting their drives as soon as they were aligned on a course that would bring them to a rendevous with the red planet. All of them with their telescopes and sensors aimed directly at the red dot that seemed so far away. Upon Terra the Primus debated whether to activate their WarShip reserves and repel this invasion of their sovereignty while others argued that Mars had been tithed away and was no longer their responsibility, and that being forced to show their true hand to protect mere mercenaries would be catastrophic and certain to result in the Primus being removed from his position, the faction being lead by Myndo Waterley acting quickly to ensure the certainty of that result.

And so ComStar sat back and watched.

Watched as JumpShips that had been modified by the Speaker for the Omnissiah engaged their own torch drives and turned about to face the dropships. Weapons that would have been mounted to Titans brought to power, autoloaders coming to life and feeding shells into complex weapons.

---

The fleet of Dropships surged across space. Blind to what was happening over Sol itself. Focussed as they were on Mars they failed to see as space was torn apart and the Speaker for the Omnissiah surged through that hole in reality a day and a half later, its shields haloed by the lightning discharges of the warp, before the light of the warp had even faded from its rapidly closing breach into realspace Shark assault boats spilled from the hangars heavily laden with Skitarii as fighters bled into space alongside them aiming for the limited aerospace craft protecting the fleet. At that range the limited weapons of the JumpShips had no meaning. Bulkheads caved in as a two dozen JumpShips were chosen as prey by the Sharks.

---

The drives on the Speaker for the Omnissiah lit up like unchained suns as the colossus bolted from its arrival point in the LaGrange point over Sol's zenith point, pouring on more gravities than any dropship in the Capellan fleet could hope to match, only their significant lead revealed that they would reach the red planet before the massive star dreadnought in pursuit.

---

The miners of Mars looked towards Olympus Mons as the massive fleet of Dropships headed for them, wondering if they would survive the coming onslaught. Sounds of awe were released as massive silo doors opened and flame filled the skies of Mars as twelve torpedoes climbed for space, heedless of the silo doors closing behind them. Then and only then did the next lines of defence raise from concealed silos. Colossal turrets. The sound of massive gears turning echoed across the plains as they lifted massive weapons towards the heavens.

---

"Incoming!" Was the cry first heard to herald the fleets recognition of the twelve warheads arrowing up into the stars ahead of them sunlight glinting from flèches adorning the Gothic Spires that served as the heads of the seventy metre long missiles charging at them. Accelerating with far more power than the DropShips could manage. Lasers, LRMs and Autocannons began to fire as they tried to come to bear on the colossal weapons. One of the torpedoes erupted in flame before, with only a moments notice, suddenly all eleven surviving missiles locked onto the largest DropShips in the formation and their drives flared spearing them into their targets.

Eleven stars bloomed in the night skies as the plasma torpedoes delivered enough power to cripple a capital ship to a vessel far too small to justify such an expenditure of force. The lone Colossus was annihilated with eight Fortress class and two Excaliburs, the only mercy offered to the remainder of the fleet being that the craft were eliminated with such totality the only debris to strike other craft were stray atoms.

---

Marnie cowered beneath her consoles as the sounds of weapons fire filled the corridor of the Monolith, several of the Bay personnel had found several Sunbeam laser pistols in the small armoury and were trying to keep the enemy at bay with sweeping fire. Marnie knew it wasn't working, she could hear them crying out about how it wasn't working...

How Dave had died screaming with slugs in his belly that bloomed out into fat mushroom shapes. She could see one of them stuck to the bulkhead across the cha... the sound of industrial chainsaws filled her ears accompanied by the screaming of a man who had found himself on its receiving end, the scream was thankfully short lived, the sound of the saw was not. And so when the first of the enemy stepped through the door she wet and soiled herself immediately. It was bathed in blood. The chain...sword in its fist coated with human detritus... a piece of meat fell out from the teeth when a squeeze revved it for a moment, she was pretty sure the piece was brain.

A mechanical voice emitted from the grille in its throat. "Step out from beneath your consoles. Anyone who bears a weapon will throw it towards the prow bulkhead." A thud was heard as the Captain tossed a Calaveri 10mm Auto-pistol towards the indicated wall, slowly climbing from under his own console. The rest of the bridge crew did the same. "Very good. Helm, plot a course for Mars and engage drives as soon as you have it set."

"Uhm, sir, this is a JumpShip, it is not intend..." The brave soul, Durnham, was silenced suddenly when the head of the invader zeroed in on him. "Yes sir." He finished. Leaning over to plot the course.

The Captain cleared his throat. "Excuse me sir. But my Helmsman is correct, the drives are only capable of outputting 0.1 gravities of thrust."

The invader didn't turn to face the Captain. "Approximately eleven days of travel is acceptable."

The Captain slumped marginally. "Durnham, begin retracting the sails and..."

The invader interrupted him. "Conduct an emergency break of the sail. We have no need for it."

Wu felt real fear as he sat in the cockpit of his Dragon and watched the data scrolling in, they had begun their deceleration burn to touch down near Olympus Mons, and the dying had not stopped there. Two Invaders rebuilt as Gunships had slid in towards the formation as weapons on the surface had begun to fire on them. Death vomited up to meet them as it poured down from above as the strangely fast Invaders unleashed Turbolasers and Plasma Blastgun fire while Vulcan Megabolters acted to sweep them out of space.

His ship rocked and he felt his stomach twist. Something had.... sound filled his cockpit, alarms from the Dropship that ended abruptly as all the air was vented and he watched as half a hundred holes blossomed before the projectiles that had made them detonated, the entire mechbay filled with shrapnel and momentary bursts of fire and light from the accelerants and explosives in the shells. Beyond he could see the thin atmosphere of Mars pulling at the Dropship and he realised with a grim horror what was happening.

They had been fired on, and were too far into re-entry to reverse course and burn for space once more, and now the thin atmosphere was tearing at the fractured and torn open hull, plates were being torn off before his eyes were filled with light as a beam weapon pierced the Overlord from nose to tail and explosions rocked his feet and.. he lurched. The Overlord was falling apart and... he really shouldn't be seeing it happening from o...

From out here.

He had been ejected by the blast. And two more spears of light reached up from the surface, twenty five metre wide columns of raw sun-bright energy that turned his ship into vapor. Which he really would have preferred about now. He watched the vertical velocity of his Dragon went far beyond the terminal velocity it would have on a world like Terra. He really wished he had only been falling on Terra, at 4.8 times Terra's terminal velocity, his Dragon, lacking anything useful like jumpjets ploughed into the surface like a bullet.

Wu didn't live long enough for the neurons in his brain to tell him they reached the surface.

Yu Mei had felt the terror of their fall. Of the nearly six hundred Dropships that the Chancellor Romano Liao had managed to round up, stripping entire systems of their entire military forces to make this attack, and as her own DropShip landed and her Locust was let out onto the red sands she watched as all of a hundred and twenty survived to make landfall. Entire Divisions were being unloaded as quickly as they could manage safely.

The Titan Legio was not on Mars. They knew this. Now. NOW they stood a chance at making the Legio Astorum pay the price for their evil.

While I am immensely flattered mate, no thanks. You can of course share links to the work, but sharing out my fics is something I will take care of my own over time, indeed, the Wandering is up on Ao3 (well up to a point, copy-pasting over chapters takes a lot of time... because of a lot of Chapters :D)

Oh wow. Basically the Capellan ..... nation? Region? The entire fricking place, is now defenceless against the Davion forces. Forces that have been waiting for a small opportunity, not this big one. Not to mention the Free World League is going to grab some worlds too.
Fricking Romano causing the end of the Confederation is just poetic.

NOW they stood a chance at making the Legio Astorum pay the price for their evil.
If the Titans had actually been on Mars, you'd have died quickly. Now though? Your fate will range from slow and painful death to death is a mercy you will not be lucky enough to receive.

I wonder if some forces were allowed to land just so that when the Mechanicus destroys them, the crushing of the Capellan's hope will be that much more effective, because the biggest mistake Romano made was thinking that none of her enemies could ever be just as if not more monstrous and/or ruthless than her.

HAHAHHAHAHA. Priceless, Cappies empty their entire garrison force for a spite attack. Yea, Romano is not the sharpest tool in the shed. I do wonder, has AdMech been playing around with BattleMech technology? I could see the invaders facing new patterns of "Imperial Knights" and Scout Titans. Not to mention the Tanks and Ordinati that are gonna be rolling off the assembly lines...the biggest danger in trying to invade a Forge World, unless you conduct some mean orbital bombardment beforehand...well the defenders will be getting new equipment and ammo while you are limited by what you bring or can capture.

Davions and Steiners seeing the completely helpless Cappies: "It's Free Real Estate"

I would not be surprised to see the FWL pull out of the Concord of Kapteyn that entire "treaty" hinged on the three powers existing. With just the Dracs and the FWL? Yea, they do not possess the force necessary to oppose the Lyrans and FedSuns. Marik trying to throw in with the FedCom might actually be the move here, since they could argue for a piece of the Liao pie.

This universe´s version of Operation RAT will be insane. Due to Romano, the defenders have: NO Dropships, No Freelance Jumpship Captain willing to work with the CCAF since the last idiots got their ships repo´d by Mars, pretty sure Mercs are not gonna touch any CCAF contract with a mile long stick since all CCAF units has been gutted and thus Mercs would be bearing the weight of the Front. The FedSuns might just take the whole thing. Tikonov just went from "Indomitable fortress" to "Very domitable".

Chapter 26; Iron Red Sands
Chapter 26;
Iron Red Sands

The thunder of an entire army moving across the red sands of Mars filled her cockpit, the road leading up towards the cliffs of Olympus Mon's base was massive and wide and allowed them to make best pace. In the distance she knew that their artillery parks had just begun opening up on the facilities around the entrance to the Martian complex. And yet, she felt a quaver of fear as the atmosphere lit up as the shells began to fall on a vast shield protecting the complex. Hundreds of Battlemechs, hundreds of tanks, more infantry, artillery and even aerospace assets were moving quickly on Olympus Mons, the fleet of surviving DropShips having finally discovered that the Speaker for the Omnissiah was tearing space to reach the red planet.

Her Trebuchet crested a ridge and she stumbled to a halt as the impersonal data filling her sensors resolved into something more factual. LRMs filled the air, their smoke shrouding the battlefield as entire sheets of laser light and autocannon fire blanketed the battlespace and she wondered for the first time if this was what it must have looked like in the first succession war. And the defences they faced were daunting. A wall a hundred and twenty metres high with a very slight cant to it formed a bastion fort protecting the entrance into the mountain of Olympus Mons, and every time the guns on the ravelin's opened fire mechs died as the massive artillery pieces turned entire sections of battlefield into short-lived suns from their plasma macrocannons. The crownwork protecting the main approach road itself was even more devastating. Massive multi-barreled turrets were throwing vulcan mega-bolter shells into any concentrated forces before rapidly swinging about to engage any aerospace that even attempted to threaten them.

She continued to fire her LRMs as she received updates on where to fall back and re-arm when her ammunition cells ran dry. For the first time doubt pierced her defences and she wondered why she should even bother. Most of the weapons fire aimed at the bastions simply failed to reach anything, intercepted by the energy shield protecting the whole, the only thing keeping the CCAF in the battle at all being the sheer volume of numbers they had present.

She zoomed in on a section of the bastion and shuddered. The walls were lined with infantry who appeared to be only engaging their own troops and ignoring the mechs and tanks. She moved up and targeted a section of wall where the enemy infantry were proving more devastating than others and unloaded her LRMs against it, each step bringing her closer to the main gate, each movement bringing her closer to the defences.

The missiles rippled against the shield though several missiles managed to land on the top of the wall between the shield and its outer glacis sending several infantry tumbling off of the wall. The response was almost immediate, an emplacement ten metres further down spun and fired a spear of light that punched through her right torso reducing everything in the beams path to slag. The overall damage was lower than she expected, the armour penetrating qualities of the 'lascannon' managing to avoid the damage blooming too much.

That was something she had wondered as she retreated from her exposed position and loosed more LRMs over the hill she used as cover.

The Mechanicum's laser weapons did not melt entire tons of armour as did those which were used in the Inner Sphere. They punched through armour, damaging all in their path but without blooming. It wasn't until smaller scale weapons were used that they noticed this strange property, typically the Turbolasers and larger used by the Titans left too little to examine the damage profiles.

'This is Advance Command. Enemy gates opening.' She moved up once more to the edge of the hillock she was commanding as cover and could see the main gates of the enemy Crownwork opening. Quad-tracked vehicles emerged bearing massive weapons on seemingly fragile industrial frames, and yet fire directed against them struck shielding as surely as it had against Titans. One... two... four... after eight minutes, eight of the machines had rolled out, they did not all bear the same kind of weapon. Six bore devices that looked like transmission towers stretched and laid on their sides, while two bore some kind of massive energy cannon, the same seen on Warlord Titans occasionally.

Though she knew not its name, she was all too aware of what they were when the two Ordinatus Saggitar opened fire with sweeping Volcano cannon fire at the largest concentrations of heavy and assault mechs. And...

She cocked her head like a dog hearing a whistle pitched only for a canines ears and frowned, reaching up to touch her ears. She... was bleeding from her left ear. She looked at the enemy armour once more with horror. Sonic waves rippled out so intensely they created a massive and visible shockwave. She watched in naked horror as an Atlas simply ceased to exist as it was annihilated completely, sonic vibrations destroying it more thoroughly than a Long Tom shell directly to the cockpit. Sweeping beams of sound rippled across the battlefield turning stone to powder and mechs to annihilated particles that settled on the red sands of Mars, all avoiding the great road that they had built. She moved towards it, using as much cover as she could, others had noticed and tried to do the same, massive numbers of troops moving in towards the massively wide road.

It felt like hours and she couldn't hear anymore, her ears were clogged with blood and she was certain her eardrums were ruptured, infantry were moving around below in a groggy and disoriented way as they scrambled onto the ultra-wide road. The wide gates of the crownworks were still open and she felt a thrill of fear as one by one each of the massive tanks slowly retreated back into the roadway.

But the gates didn't close. They remained opened.... she focussed her vision on the tunnel... and felt terror bite her belly. Mechs were emerging. Smaller than their Titans, and their with odd armoured pauldrons, weapons hanging from beneath them on complex armatures. They were marching line abreast, ten wide and she couldn't see how many ranks deep.
