When Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Connors was six, she was diagnosed with neuromyelitis optica. Her widower father, Dr. Curt Connors, went a bit mad at this. By the time she turned seventeen, she'd resigned herself to periodic spates of filmic hallucinations, blindness, and tremors, and graduated a year early despite her disadvantages. As part of a celebration, Dr. Conners treated his daughter to a trip to the mountains of central Japan, a place famed for its beauty...and its remoteness. When they arrived, he explained his plan; he had come into possession of the incomplete notes of one Dr. Abraham Erskine, and believed with sufficient time, he could use it to craft a serum to cure her disease. She agreed, and they settled into a quiet life in the Koga region, where she would meet her sensei. Though she never learned his name, he taught her the methods of ki and the tenets of nindo, which formed a core part of her philosophy as the treatments began to work. Seven years later, she returns to the States; while the hallucinations haven't quite gone away, her body has changed immensely, and her condition can be considered cured for all intents and purposes. Unfortunately, she's a giant reptile-human hybrid now.
