Through the Mists of Time (Mistborn Peggy Sue)

[X] Tell them about the dream. If you can't trust Kelsier and Dockson you can't trust anyone.

[X] Play dumb, Ruin can hear anything you say out loud.

We need some metal to write on if we want to tell anyone.

Also, Preservation can hear our thoughts so there is also that.

Wait what? Since when can the shards hear thoughts? That Ruin can't is a major plot point.
Preservation can hear thoughts but not talk to people while Ruin can talk to people but not hear their thoughts.

Preservation at this point...isn't well however. Its doubtful what he could do with this info.

But Vin talked to elend when she was preservation. Huh.

What the poster above me said. And Harmony can do both. Though talking requires a soul being Ruined whether by madness or allomantic spikes.

Hemalurgy spikes you mean. Like the earring.

Elend burned Lerasium so he is probably super attuned to Preservation in a way that other people aren't. She invested him with power directly and it still wasn't communication on the scale of what Ruin is able to do with people that are spiked or not mentally stable.

I knew I remembered that wrong.

Another reason: Given Vin had only recently ascended, she was able to do things with the power that wouldn't have been possible for Leras (original Preservation Host) as she hadn't been warped by it's power. This was why she was able to destroy Ruin, even while using the power of Preservation while Leras couldn't. IIRC Ruin (Ati) also used to be a pretty good guy until his power warped him into what we know.

Yeah, immediately after ascending you are least restricted by the nature of your shard but the intent of your shard starts really quickly binding you to its rules. However uh even Leras could do a little communicating with people it just wasn't very informative.

Cool a Mistborn quest, and Vin quest at that.

Same for Sazed, right after ascending he was able to fix the world, but by the time of the Wax and Wayne novels, only a few hundred years I believe, he was already finding it a struggle to act due to the conflicting natures of the shards.

idk shit about Ruin, I've only read book 1 but I like Kelsier, he's got the right idea.

Book 1 Kelsier has a bad case of Not Even Vaguely Enough Info.

Ruin is the thing in the Pool of Ascension and very bad news entirely on its own, aside from the other bullshit that could potentially make its way to Scadrial.

In regards to the thread, Vin has a fair (but not complete) grasp of what's what in Mistborn Era 1, but knows approximately jackshit about the broader cosmology. Sudden Odium interrupt is very unlikely, but still let's keep eyes open for any sightings of Hoid.
