Haven't seen it yet, I liked the old one when it was on. Can't stand her these days though, and kinda find it offensive that a multimillionaire is playing a poor blue collar worker and likely pushing her pro-Trump views into the writing.

For the unaware (and non-Americans), what's that?

The revival is, apparently, pretty decent (I never watched the original), but given that Roseanne Barr is a real life total fucking nutcase (we're talking "Parkland survivors are crisis actors, Pizzagate is real, Obama is/was a secret Kenyan Commie Nazi Islamic Terrorist, InfoWars is the truth!" nutcase), I'm gonna pass.

Wow, I had no idea she was a loon. I did watch the original, but I think I'll give the sequel a pass.

Yeah she's a straight up stan for Alex Jones and Trump. If you want to watch a revival/reboot/whatever of an old sitcom that doesn't star a total fucking nutcase (and actually engages with and pushes progressive ideas), check out the Netflix version of "One Day at a Time".

I was too young to watch the show when it was on, but the episodes I've seen gave me the impression of a less funny version of Married...With Children.

Huh.

I guess I'm not too surprised, as I know she was a 9/11 truther when that whole thing was first getting attention. But still, damn.

MWC was absurdist and over the top. Roseanne was much more naturalistic. The Connors we're working poor folks trying to survive. The Bundys were exactly as broke as any given joke required.

Despite the socioeconomic differences, Roseanne had a lot more DNA in common with something like Good Times or the Cosby Show or King of the Hill. MWC is more akin to Get a Life or the Oblongs.

I prefer MWC, too. But they are very different shows at heart.

so for those of us whose memories stretch back to 2009, Roseanne is apparently the same woman who set off a bit of controversy when she did a photoshoot for "Heeb" magazine (Yes it means what you think) with a Hitler mustache and Swastika armband, pulling burned people-shaped cookies out of an oven

the defense back then, unsurprisingly, was "she's Jewish she can make those jokes"

How to cancel your show in the span of a couple of hours. VJ is Valerie Jarret, a woman of color, who served in the Obama administration. And that isn't the only thing Roseanne twitted in her early morning rant. Referred to Chelsea Clinton, as Chelsea Soros Clinton(Because the Alt-Right's Soros Boogieman conspiracy). And, when Chelsea Clinton corrected her, Roseanne decided to call George Soros a Nazi who turned in his fellow jews and stole their wealth.

It's fucking astounding ABC even thought to get her back on the air.

ABC: We're bringing back Roseanne!

Everyone else: Are you sure? Roseanne Barr is pretty crazy...

ABC: We know she can be controversial online, but we are sure that-

Roseanne: CHELSEA CLINTON HAS A SECRET MARRIAGE ALLIANCE WITH THE SOROS! THE CIA IS CONTROLLING OUR MINDS! GEORGE SOROS IS PLANNING A COUP TO REPLACE THE CONSTITUTION WITH FEELINGS! BLACK PEOPLE ARE MUSLIM PLANET OF THE APES TERRORISTS!

ABC: Well, shit.

Broke: lmao she only lasted two months
Woke: roseanne was openly crazy and racist for years and ABC still gave her a tv show for two months before canceling
