It is dark.

The only thing you can see is a set of words that hover in the center of your vision.

Game Over

Restart?
Y/N

You're not entirely sure what you were doing earlier.

It doesn't seem like you were successful.

You also think that you might have been here before.

You shrug.

Nothing to do about it.

"Yes." You speak aloud.

The words change.

Create new character, or load previous character data?

How do you respond?
[ ] New Character
[ ] Load previous

A/N: This is going to be silly and sporadically updated.

"Load previous."

A picture of....

Yourself apparently, appears in front of you.

Tall and thin, with long grey hair, red eyes, and tanned skin, you find yourself to be fairly handsome.

Or beautiful. You honestly can't tell which gender you are from the picture in front of you.

Above the picture, you see your name.

Name: Fist of the Grey Dragon

It seems more like a title.

Under the picture, you see.

Traits:
Ambiguous Gender: Observers cannot determine your true gender. Clothing may point them in one way or another.
Monstrous Strength: Your strength exceeds that of mere humans. Superhumans are another story.
Emotionless Facade: Your dull stare, emotionless eyes, and toneless voice make it almost impossible to tell what you are thinking, as well as being vaguely intimidating.

And under all this:
Keep previous data?

"Yes."

The world dissolves into endless fractals of iridescent octarine and orange, and then suddenly your vision goes right again.

You seem to be standing in the alleyway of a rather medieval looking city, dressed in a fine white shirt, blue breeches, and green gloves. A quick check of your surroundings reveals five guys around you, holding knives and looking vaguely intimidating.

"Alright now." The largest of them says. "Hand over all money, and you won't be harmed, rich man."

You punch the big guy in the face, knocking him cold to the ground.

The other four jump back, exchange glances, then move toward you, knives ready to thrust. You grab an arm, and twist the knife out of his hand, then swing the attached body into the other guys.

You easily sweep them aside, and leave them in a pile on the ground. A groaning, somewhat stinky pile.

Do anything more to these guys?
[ ] Humiliate them.
[ ] Leave them be.
[ ] Something else.

A window pops up in your face.

Victory Achieved

Rewards: 1 exp. 6 copper coins

Hurrah.

You banish the window with a flick of your hands. And then step out of the alleyway, and observe the city.

You seem to be in a fairly bustling market square, with peddlers of all stripes selling their wares to the passerby's.

What shall you do?

After a brief musing, you rob these guys for all they have, leaving them nothing but the clothes on their backs.

Oddly, every time you take an item, it disappears in your hand, and a notification pops up.

10 Thief's Knives, 20 copper coins, and 1 Silver Pendant added to your inventory.

A little hand motion, and you bring up your inventory.

3/20 slots used.

-10 Thief's Knives
-26 Copper Coins
-1 Silver Pendant

Huh. So items with the same name stack in item slots. Convenient.

You select a knife, and it materializes in your hand. You send it back to the inventory, and head out of the alley.

You decide to ask someone where you are.

The man you cornertalk to, seems a little off put by you, but he tells you that the city is called Lucerne, part of the Kingdom of Estoc.

He doesn't give you much more than that, and you get the feeling he's never gone far from the city.

Well? What will you do?

You open your inventory, and while deliberating on what to do, realize that you can see item descriptions.

Silver Pendant

Pendant emblazoned with the symbol of the Goddess Laverna, Lady of Acquisitions, and patron of thieves and criminals.

Laverna's followers generally wear these pendants when committing criminal acts, as it is believed that Laverna's blessing will help them with their larcenous deeds. Of course, wearing one openly is a sure way to draw suspicion.

Thief's Knife

Knife type commonly used by thieves and travelers. The blade is heavy and resistant to breaking, allowing the thief to use it for multiple purposes.

Despite being effective in combat, that may be perhaps the worst use of these blades.

Copper coin

A simple copper coin, with the image of an ancient hero.

Copper coins are common, but useful nonetheless. A hundred of these coins is equivalent to a silver coin, and a hundred silver coins is equal to one of the rare gold coins.

You equip the Pendant, making sure to place it under your shirt, and then head over to a merchant, whose sign proudly proclaims "Hoark's Used Weapons: We Buy and Sell!"

You slide up to him. "I'm here to sell 8 knives."

He smiles. "Of course! Just let me take a look at them, and I'll appraise their price!"

You take them out, and he looks at each. "I'll give you 16 coppers for all of them. Each has been used and resharpened more than a few times, so I doubt I can give you much more."

Well?
[ ] Accept
[ ] Barter
-[ ] Strategy?

After finishing with the knives, you ask the merchant about any monsters or quests.

"Hmmm? The postage board over there has some jobs that people need done. Some of its rough and tumble like I think you mean, but probably not too much. Still worth a look."

You move up to the board.

You give him a blank stare. "These are good, durable working knives. Any craftsman would love to have them. You can give me a better price, Mr. Hoark."

Hoark pales a little when your eyes meet his. He nods. "Of course, sir." He takes a deep breath, than looks at the knives again. "I can give you 20 coppers for them."

You nod. "Of course."

He hands you the coins, and you go on your way.

You rip off the poster for the missing cat.

New Quest Gained!

Finding the Noble's Cat

Rhea has lost her cat in the Business District. Find it for her!

Objectives:
{ } Head to the Business District
{ } Find Coco
{ } Bring Coco to the Valkyren Mansion

You nod, close the quest window, and then frown, as a blinking yellow arrow appears in front of you. Written under it is the words Business District.

Convenient.

You head towards the district, then blink as the arrow disappears, replacing itself with a yellow boundary line which moves out of sight.

{X} Head to the Business District

A mental marker of the district?

Very convenient.

You take to the rooftops, looking down on the city in an attempt to get a birds eye view.

Your ascent attracts a few looks, but no one seems to really care, and you spend some hours doing a few batman impressions on the rooftops.

Eventually, you spot your cat. He's a big fat cat, sitting on a stack of wooden planks, just out of reach from the group of dogs surrounding him, barking up a storm.

Above his head, you see:

Coco the Cat

You jump off the roof, landing behind the angry dogs. Your hand darts out at the closest, and grabs it by scruff of its neck, throwing it into the next one,

The other dogs look at you, then at their downed pack members, and turn and run, dragging their injured friends with them.

The cat yawns. "I was just going to wait until they got bored and left, but that works too."

"You can talk."

"I can also do magic tricks."

You raise an eyebrow. "Ok."

You pick Coco up. "I'm going to take you back to your owner now. Any objections?"

"I wish to sit on your head."

You place the cat on your head, and he arranges himself, somehow, to a comfortable position. It feels like your wearing a fluffy and somewhat heavy hat right now.

A direction arrow appears in your vision, and you follow it.

"So...." You walk through the district, ignoring the stares of everyone.

"Yeah?" A tail drops into view.

"You're a magical talking cat."

"Yes."

"What can you do?"

"I can imbue a young girl with the power to transform into a magical girl."

"Huh. Is your owner...."

The buildings have given way to mansions.

"No! While she is the one who can receive it, there are no evil demon cults or anything in the city, so she doesn't need to do stuff like that."

You raise an eyebrow. "Can all talking cats do that?"

You feel it shrug. "Most. One of us in every city, looking for world ending threats. I heard my brother in Glaive had to give an imbuement in order to close a demon gate, but that's about it in terms of world ending threats."

"Sooo.... What do the girls get in return for saving the world?"

"They get to keep their phenomenal magical powers if they want, in addition to whatever reward money and accolades and other stuff their cities reward them."

You come to the gates of the mansion. An statue of a winged woman, holding a sword and an a axe, sits magnificently in the center of the large yard. Beyond it, sits an enormous house, four stories tall, the walls a dark purple. On the roof, you can see what appears to be a large aviary, out of which you see a large eagle, about the size of a human, peeking outside. You can see gardeners trimming the grass in the yard, arranging flowers, and other tasks.

You rap on the gate, and one of them looks at you, then at the cat on your head. He goes into a side door, and returns with a brown haired maid, who approaches the gate. "Hello." She says, with a smile, " Are you here to return Coco to Miss Valkyren?"
