"You are all a lost generation"
- Gertrude Stein
When the curtains at last closed on the Great War, the hopes and dreams of a century that had begun so brightly were annihilated.
Romanticism and nationalism, the ideals which had been the past century's guiding lights, seemed to have burnt down to mere ash; and while new legends may have been forged in this war, people like the Red Baron, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and the Australian Light Horse to name a few, far more now lie dead or are uncomfortably out-of-place in these now lightless times.
This leaves us with a confused and aimless new generation of young people, left wondering where now to go and what now to do. Well, one place quite a few of them have gone is Paris, partly of because of its status in the artistic world, partly due to the favourable exchange rate, and in many Americans' case to escape Prohibition. And where the young people, along come their myths, legends and personal demons... in this one strange case, not just in the metaphorical sense.
Somewhat melodramatic setting of the scene out of the way, I suppose I should be introducing myself, old sport (Ha, couldn't resist). The name's...

Who am I?
[ ] I'm yet another American expat attracted by Paris' lure.
[ ] I'm a Parisian Air Force veteran just trying to get my life back to normal (if female, I had to disguise my gender Deborah Sampson-style).
[ ] I'm an English butler/maid in Paris on an errand.
[ ] I'm a poor Algerian desperate to make it.
[ ] I'm a Kiwi seeking a more swingin' life than old New Zealand could ever offer.
[ ] I'm a Russian noble in exile.
[ ] I'm a Japanese (natch) Takarazuka Revue member, coming to Paris to learn more about music, dance and theatre.
[ ] I'm an Egyptian archaeologist, stopping over in France to present my findings.
[ ] I'm a Shadow Operative from the future, time-travelling back to 1925 to stop a temporal nightmare from happening.

OOC: Character's age will be about 25, slightly younger if you pick Takarazuka and slightly older if you pick veteran. Unless however you make the choice to play as a historical figure, which is allowed as long as it isn't already one I have a role in mind for like Hemingway, or as a canon character (only possible if you pick the time traveller option). I also didn't realise how similar the time-traveller option was to a plot point in
Raidou Kuzunoha until later.
Let us go then, you and I...
