"You are all a lost generation"
- Gertrude Stein

When the curtains at last closed on the Great War, the hopes and dreams of a century that had begun so brightly were annihilated.

Romanticism and nationalism, the ideals which had been the past century's guiding lights, seemed to have burnt down to mere ash; and while new legends may have been forged in this war, people like the Red Baron, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and the Australian Light Horse to name a few, far more now lie dead or are uncomfortably out-of-place in these now lightless times.
This leaves us with a confused and aimless new generation of young people, left wondering where now to go and what now to do. Well, one place quite a few of them have gone is Paris, partly of because of its status in the artistic world, partly due to the favourable exchange rate, and in many Americans' case to escape Prohibition. And where the young people, along come their myths, legends and personal demons... in this one strange case, not just in the metaphorical sense.

Somewhat melodramatic setting of the scene out of the way, I suppose I should be introducing myself, old sport (Ha, couldn't resist). The name's...
[ ] Write-in.

Who am I?
[ ] I'm yet another American expat attracted by Paris' lure.
[ ] I'm a Parisian Air Force veteran just trying to get my life back to normal (if female, I had to disguise my gender Deborah Sampson-style).
[ ] I'm an English butler/maid in Paris on an errand.
[ ] I'm a poor Algerian desperate to make it.
[ ] I'm a Kiwi seeking a more swingin' life than old New Zealand could ever offer.
[ ] I'm a Russian noble in exile.
[ ] I'm a Japanese (natch) Takarazuka Revue member, coming to Paris to learn more about music, dance and theatre.
[ ] I'm an Egyptian archaeologist, stopping over in France to present my findings.
[ ] I'm a Shadow Operative from the future, time-travelling back to 1925 to stop a temporal nightmare from happening.
[ ] Write-in.

OOC: Character's age will be about 25, slightly younger if you pick Takarazuka and slightly older if you pick veteran. Unless however you make the choice to play as a historical figure, which is allowed as long as it isn't already one I have a role in mind for like Hemingway, or as a canon character (only possible if you pick the time traveller option). I also didn't realise how similar the time-traveller option was to a plot point in Raidou Kuzunoha until later.

Let us go then, you and I...

FUCK. I don't want to go for a japanese character but dammit, Takarazukaaaaaaaaaa. ARGHHHH, WHY. WHY IS THIS SUCH AN INTERESTING OPTION. If any plan seems to get me more, I'll vote, but for now I'll wait on that.......

Voting closed, with:
[X] Felicia Burns
[X] I'm an English butler/maid in Paris on an errand.

the winner with three votes! (I didn't feel the need to do a tally since the voting hasn't gone on for more than a page).

Next post should be up soon, also the other MC choices may appear as party members, Social Links or NPCs later in the Quest depending on the options taken.

Clang! Clang! Clang! went the Trolley

The Paris Metro was a tad rickety as it set off, but nothing too disorienting as to cause one an unsightly mishap. I, that is Felicia Burns, had made my way across the Channel to the City of Lights at the Mistress' insistence that I...

[ ] Pick up a priceless Egyptian artifact for her, ages old and recently unearthed.
[ ] Ask one of Paris' famous artists for a portrait commission (Really? There's been some awful strange paintings coming out of here recently).
[ ] Ask one of Paris' famous fashion designers to provide costumes for an upcoming event.
[ ] Ask one of Paris' famous composers to set music to a libretto one of her associates had written.
[ ] Keep an eye on all the latest trends for her (Not quite sure I'm the best person for that job).
[ ] Take a well-earned vacation... but see if I wouldn't mind getting a couple of things done while I'm there.
[ ] Write-in.
OOC: The above will be a 'Riot vote', in that the choice with the votes will be Felicia's highest priority, but any other votes will still be taken into account.

My Mistress? Ah, it's possible you'd have heard of her, she's none other than-

[ ] Virginia Woolf. I must say she's a bit... harsh, but she keeps most interesting company!
[ ] Agatha Christie. Don't let her association with murders scare you off, she's really quite lovely!
[ ] Write-in.

Standing up on the Metro I couldn't help but notice quite the crowd around me, including some, well, most interesting characters if I may say so. There was...

[ ] A most striking rail-thin woman still working on what appeared to be a sketch in her notebook, despite the clattering train not making that an easy task.
[ ] A dark-haired mustachioed man and a blonde with a Deep South accent talking up a storm with anyone in their vicinity, though both going out of their way to avoid any eye contact with each other.
[ ] Two older gentleman, one dressed neatly but the other in some bizarre Egyptian costume, glaring coldly at each other yet not saying a word.
[ ] A young Asian man rather audaciously entertaining a crowd that had gathered around him.
[ ] A severe-looking blonde woman in a sky-blue dress looking down at a list she had, occasionally glancing up from it to look at a certain people on the Metro.
OOC: This last vote will determine your party members for the 'tutorial' stage just coming up, and may give you some early Social Links.
