The Prince's Path [Dragon Ball Z Quest]

Hmmm....

I'm not sure that training with the Namekians would gain us much. They're all too weak for Vegeta to benefit from the endeavor---and the scouters would no doubt pick us up again. Discussing tactics with them could be a little more fruitful. If nothing else, they could provide support, keep the cannon fodder off us and make openings against foes like Dodoria and Zarbon. Especially if we're fucked enough and both of Freeza's aides travel together.

Of course, Freeza himself could just visit personally. In which case, well, we should book it.

[X] Energy Sensing: The Dragon Balls aren't the only thing this planet has to offer. Keep talking with the Elder; see what he has to teach.

I'm seeing a path to a Guru power up, which is exactly what Vegeta needs right now.

[X] Zenkai: Gather the warriors and start training. Every little bit counts!

[X] Warrior Training: Gather the warriors and discuss tactics.

Vegeta's success on Namek came from a mix of hit and run and power-ups from Zenkai. This might not help with the latter as directly, but can help with the former. If Frieza gets pulled into an extended conflict while he still has something to gain, he's more likely to call in training dummies the Ginyu Force.

Ummm, I feel like this is our only safe bet? We can't receive a meaningful Zenkai in a single day, unless the Namekians have something to heal us instantaneously.
Remember that zenkai boosts aren't the only thing Zenkai has to offer. There's also the normal benefits of exercise and practice. Look at what Vegeta achieved in (technically) a single day of Cell Saga training!

An alright plan might be to have people deliberately destroy the scouters and have everyone scatter into as small groups as possible, while having someone inform Freeza that the wish won't work if all namekians are dead.

His only decent option would then be to try and catch people by sending out men to comb the area... Where energy sensing warriors can pick them off one by one. And where Vegeta could train/fight the stronger opponent's when they're alone.

But it's imperfect and I'm not formatting it into a proper write in option right now. Feel free to use bits of it.

Otherwise... Go for some
Zenkai + Energy Sensing mix, in a sense that if Vegeta tells them how quickly Saiyans could gain power ups and asks for ideas/suggestions on risky training methods... That might work.

If Vegeta knew more about all of the nonsense methods Goku relied on, he'd have more clues about what to ask.

I guess it could be something like:

[X] Write In: Ask about how Namekians train. Do they have some risky or dangerous training methods you could attempt in the time that you have? A forbidden technique to get just a little closer to the impossible?

[ ] Warrior Training: Gather the warriors and discuss tactics.
(Nappa: They're just slugs. What can they contribute?)
Cunning: Nothing, obviously. But they might do even less if they don't understand what's coming. Especially if they're as naive as the elder was
Energy Sensing: They can't possibly be that bad
Royal Pride: It doesn't matter: we're the only one who has any idea how the PTO operates. That alone means we should lead them.

Better control of energy suppression could be useful for surprising enemies that rely on scouters... or for hiding our presence from Frieza, if it comes to that.

It looks like tactics have won tonight!

Warrior Training: Gather the warriors and discuss tactics.
Nappa: They're just slugs. What can they contribute?
Energy Sensing: Don't be rude. The Namekians know a bunch of unique techniques, I'm sure.
Warrior Training: They know the lay of the land.
Cunning: We're not perfect, they could have ideas we missed.
Royal Pride: We're not taking orders from them.
Energy Sensing: Suggestions, then?

Suggestions are fine. It's not like you've had a wellspring of ideas about how to overcome the wall that is Frieza.

You turn to Ladura as you leave the elder's egg-hut-thing. A house, probably. You try to figure out the right words to say.

Royal Pride, Simple [10, Failure]: I've got this.

"Laddra, could you gather the village's warriors? We need to talk strategy."

He looks down on you.

Energy Sensing, Easy [15, Critical Success]: He's unimpressed. He might think we're dumb muscle by Namekian standards, that we only beat Cui because of our high power level. He probably thinks we're planning to boss his fellow Namekians around. He's almost certainly irked that we got his name wrong.
Royal Pride: Huh? Why, what's his name?

Ladura speaks up. "I do not have the authority to gather the warriors. Ask them yourself."
He takes off, soaring over to some of the fields.

Whatever. Abalo has your back.

You catch up to him as he's watching Perlemo fly past a plateau, considering what you need to say so this goes better than last time.

Royal Pride, Easy [4, Failure]: Trust me, I've got it this time.

"Abalo, it's good to see you again. I was thinking of coordinating the village's defense. Could you please gather the village's warriors so I can talk to them?"

Energy Sensing: Holy kai.
Royal Pride: What? I said "please". And I got his name right!
Energy Sensing: That's an improvement. But also, you just said "I want to boss the Namekians around".

"Sorry," Abalo says. "I have no authority here. But I am willing to discuss plans with—"

"Forget about it," you mutter, stomping off to sulk by the pond.

Mighty Flash: To brood by the pond.
Whatever. You kick at the water, startling a fish. Even the little beasts flee from you, leaving you alone.

There are two reasons Royal Pride keeps screwing up. The smaller reason is that I adjusted my hidden list of success targets, bumping them up a point or two. But you've been missing those targets by several points; the main reason is that your Royal Pride is really low. Counting the effects of Dilemmas, it's currently at 2★, which means that instead of taking the highest two out of 3-5 dice, you're just rolling two dice.

There are two ways to improve your Aspects. One is to randomly get a Dilemma which improves that Aspect before you get another one which reduces it. This is not recommended.
The other is to actively attempt to resolve Dilemmas. As you have seen, resolving Dilemmas will let you choose to increase an Aspect. In most cases, you will not be able to choose any arbitrary Aspect, but you will be given a choice from relevant Aspects.

Cunning: Who put Royal Pride in charge, anyhow?
Royal Pride: I'm the only one who knows how to get people to do what we want.
Mighty Flash: Lead by example.
Warrior Training: What, start a one-man strategy meeting and hope others join in?
Mighty Flash: Well when you put it like that, it sounds dumb...
Energy Sensing: We can't keep bossing these Namekians around and expect them to listen. We're an outsider. An outsider who's more akin to their enemies than to them.
Warrior Training: They sent us a message. We stand alongside them, or we stand along.
Nappa: Ridiculous. The Namek slugs need to shut up and listen to the superior race.

You frown. Something about that seems wrong. Nappa was obedient, if a bit impulsive. He wasn't the kind of person who'd talk back so directly.

Nappa: Huh?

And there are other things. Little things. Being a little too defensive of Raditz, a little too reverent about Saiyan traditions, a little to irreverent about everything else. Like all the most irksome traits of Nappa were overtuned.

Nappa: Calm your tits, Vegeta.

Would Nappa have said "calm your tits" in life?

Cunning: Probably. You're getting kind of paranoid.
Nappa: Why are you focused on me, not any of the other weirdos?
Great Ape: A chill runs up your left leg.

You glance down at the leg you stuck in the pond, and realize your boot sprung a leak. Just what you need.

You try to think about things you could do next, but the Nappa question sticks in your craw.

Dilemma: What is Nappa? -1 Mighty Flash, +1 Nappa

[ ] Energy Sensing: Talk with Abalo about your experiences on Earth. Maybe he'll have insights relevant on Namek.
[ ] Mighty Flash: See if you can find a cobbler to fix that boot. You want it to look its best when you shove it up Dodoria's ass!
[ ] Royal Pride: Talk with the Nameks. See which ones are willing to listen to a prince's commands.
[ ] Zenkai: If training with Nameks is off the table, how about some solo exercises?

Dilemmas:
  • How could I have lost?
    • Somehow, the Prince of All Saiyans was defeated by a pack of primitive pugilists (and one asshole with a sword). Kakarot was the only one who could hold a candle to your power level, but defeating him didn't stop the rest of Earth's rabble from humiliating you. How could this have happened?
    • +1 Energy Sensing, -1 Royal Pride, -1 Warrior Training. Your pride is bruised and you don't feel like a warrior, but your eyes are open to the possibility that those weaklings might be onto something.
  • What are the Nameks to me?
    • Your initial meetings with the people of Namek have gone surprisingly smoothly. They see you as an ally, a potential solution to their Frieza problem. But how should you see them? Are they just temporary allies, future enemies? Subjects, the core of a new Saiyan empire? Neighbors? Something more?
    • -1 Nappa, +1 Royal Pride, -1 Zenkai. This line of thought has you thinking less about yourself and more about your place in the world. In particular, your dreams of making a royal title that means something.
  • What am I gonna do about Frieza?
    • Frieza is the strongest mortal in the universe, warlord of worlds, a titan among titans. Even Planet Vegeta was subdued by his singular might. You have turned against him, and in doing so incurred his wrath. If you can't beat him, you will need to hide for the rest of your life.
    • -1 Cunning, -1 Royal Pride, +1 Zenkai. The impossibility of coming out on top in this conflict weighs heavily on you. The slim odds of survival, even more so. You desperately need to get stronger, one way or another.
  • What is Nappa?
    • If he's just another voice in your head, why is he pretending to be Nappa? It's not like Royal Pride named itself after Father, or Energy Sensing after Kakarot. If he's Nappa's actual ghost, why is he acting like the other voices? And if he's something else...what is he?
    • -1 Mighty Flash, +1 Nappa: You can't get Nappa off your mind, and he's making it hard to focus.
