Why do confined spaces require PPE and certification? Dose it have machinery or something working in it?

Since the intelligence check passed for that, the above is a link to the OSHA page on confined spaces. In summary, confined spaces are areas that are not designed for human occupancy, but may require humans to operate in the space for repair, calibration, or other intermittent jobs. Confined spaces also have limited entry/exit, making escape difficult. Permit required spaces have additional hazards that can make the area lethal very quickly, such as chemicals, exposed wiring, or other hazards. Multiple hazards can be present in permit required confined spaces.
