Is the compass really equal to the other options? I mean, yes, even I'm voting for the cool Necron pirate compass, but where's the secret horror of it?

Is a compass focused on the giant eldritch hole in reality that may or may not be a literal eye that is also hell, not at least as creepy as a laser sword or a lance key?

That's the greatest pirate I've ever seen

Who needs X to mark the spot when you have a magic compass raided from a skeleton tomb?

Fashioned from starstuff amassed over endless ages, this regal battle armour turns aways blows, even those able to tear at the soul.

An armor made from starstuff that fits a Primarch?

Hm... I wonder... >=3

[X] – Hyperphase Sword

Cool sword is simple, but effective.

[X] – Translocational Compass.

This is also fitting.

Either will work wonders.

And honestly I'm thinking about potential places to find/steal another such item. Because I was going to have this be a one-off cool thing but a pirate Primarch both able and willing to use xeno weapons just because they look cool sounds both fitting and like a rip-roaring good time.

I think you need to add the "[X] - Write In" above it for that to count... lemme check.

Wouldn't be much of a secret horror if I told you now would it? :p

It also explains why he got purged in canon.

Well as long as OP is making the compass as eldritch as the rest of the equipment that's fine.

We need more horrors beyond mortal ken in our life.

I'd say it's about as eldritch as navigators using the astronomicon as a lighthouse. I mean necrons having a compass/chartering map to find their way around (or to) the big daemon holes is right up warhammers alley.

I'm sure I'll think of something. Got an idea or two swirling in my head already...

The issue there is that the Necrons A) were around before daemons first emerged, and B) didn't/don't use the Warp for travel. Or anything, really.

But I'll come up with something properly eldritch and necron-y...

Undead alien robot parrot.

Polly want a cracker brains CPUs

Something to point them in the direction of warp shenanigans might have come in handy during the war though.

Sword? Bitchin.

A Canoptek Parrot? Even more so.

Daemons as we know them didn't exist yeah. Warp Predators did tho. Which is basically unaligned daemons. Also, considering the level of Fuck Everything weaponry getting thrown around I can easily see Warp Rifts constantly getting opened and then closed by whatever side won the fight.

The Webway is a thing and the Necrons use it as their primary form of transportation.

huh. I thought they used weird dimensional shifting tech that nobody understood... was that changed in the Necron rework?

In the Battlefleet gothic 2 game they make mention to dolmen gates but I didn't think they were connected to the webway network.

edit: Just looked it up, turns out they did subvert a portion of the webway via the gates they built. however it was unstable and the webway had a tendency to reject any long term travel from them. So I think they still mainly used their weird frictionless drives.

Old Ones first made the Webway, they let the Eldar (and possibly some other of their races) use it during the War In Haven.

Necrons got tired of the Old Ones using the webway so they made Dolemn Gates both to subvert and invade the webway
