The Lie-Eating Dragon and the Red Spider's Web (LiEat Quest)

[x] Look around outside the hotel, but only like, right outside!

We tried not to do anything dumb, and found nothing. Clearly this is not how it works!

Knock Knock
Maybe Hilda will play with you! Nobody answered when you tried a bit ago, but you could check again anyways. What's there to lose?

You hop up and head to the door, taking a few sneaky looks back to make sure Gill's asleep, and it looks like he really is. Then again, maybe he doesn't mind you just going around the hotel, since this time he only said not to leave the hotel. Or do anything dumb. You can totally do that! Wait, you mean, you can totally not do those things - you won't go out or do dumb things, you just wanna go see Hilda.

At the stairs, you remember her room was way up at the top...ugh. So many stairs...but it should be worth it! As long as she's actually there, anyways. So, up you go...and up...and-

. . .

up...you made it! Now, her room was...over there!

You hurry over to the door, and as soon as you get close you get a really weird feeling - not like one you actually feel, like the others, but kinda...a gut feeling. It's a little freaky.

Anyways...you'll try knocking anyways, to see if Hilda's there.

"Hilda, are you there?" You knock loudly, "It's me, Efi!"

You pound the door a few times like that, then stop when you realize...your knocking pushed the door open! It was cracked slightly open and unlocked, you guess...that's strange! Now that it's about half open...eughh...

That feeling gets more noticeable, and it gives you the shivers. You try to see into the room...it looks like it's all pitch black...it looks creepy.

"...Hello? Hilda?" You try to call into the open door, but you don't hear anything. "...Anton?"

...Still nothing.

[] Go in and see if Hilda's home.

[] Maybe Hilda left? Look somewhere else.

[] Head back to your room.

See, this is Efi we're talking about. The little Lie-Eating Dragon that decided that dead people covered in blood weren't scary enough to make her inquisitive nature stop and who looks up to the Dragon Police. She'd totally search the entire inside for HIlda before even thinking to go somewhere else unless she physically could not do so. Also places that are home to lots and lots of lies can sometimes harbor them from before Efi arrived. Thus, I vote

[X] Go in and see if Hilda's home.

Edit: Formatting and typos. Removed Sub-Vote

- [X] Be Thorough! Even the oddest of things can be a clue! Like that one book that one time.

Edit: Formatting and typos.
We're not searching the place or looking for clues. We're seeing if Hilda's home. What do you think the sub vote is going to do?

Conceded and removed. My familiarity with LiEat and tiredness made me jump the shark with assumptions.

Edit: removed poor formatting, wall of text, and other unnecessary apects. Tiredness makes me dumb and long-winded.

Open up the door, it's...
Hmm...maybe she forgot to shut the door, or something. Either way, this is your chance to try and go in and see Hilda! Hopefully she won't be that mad.

You push the door open carefully and step back, worried something might happen, but no...nothing. The door creaks all the way open, and you see more of what you saw before: nothing. It's totally dark. You can't see anything in there! That's real weird, and creepy, and mysterious! But you're pretty sure it's mostly creepy.

Well, you don't wanna wuss out now...besides, the weird feeling hasn't really gotten any worse after the door opened, and actually, you don't notice it so much now that you're getting used to it! Maybe it was just your brain messing with you.

You walk up to the entrance of the doorway, and just to make sure, you squint to try to see further in...but no, it's just dark. Slooowly you step through, sneaking up to the edge of where the light goes. It's still just totally dark past here, so dark you have to carefully reach your foot into the darkness to make sure there's actually floor...it's so dark that if this was some weird crazy bottomless pit, you wouldn't be able to tell 'till you fell in.

But it looks like even where you can't see, there's still floor, and a wall. You keep going, hugging the wall to your right as you move along...it's not long 'till you can't even see your hand against the wall right in front of you. You turn around to see back to the entrance, and you can still see the light from the hallway, and...wow, it seems far away...

But wasn't the door all the way open? Hey, is it...?!

By the time you realize the light is getting thinner, the door is already closing! It clicks shut pretty loudly, and suddenly everything's completely dark! You can't see a thing!

That's bad - without your only source of light, this is scary! Even if the light...wasn't helping very much. You start shuffling the other way to try and get back to the door, one hand against the wall and the other feeling for the door...

...And, feeling...

...And...the door should've been around here...you reach out, trying to find it, but just can't. You take your hand off the wall and wave around both hands as you walk, trying to find the door...where's the door...!

No way...you're sure you've walked far enough, but you can't find it...you lean against the wall-

You stumble and barely catch yourself in time as nothing solid stops you when you lean over. Did you...miss the wall? But...the hallway wasn't that big...

N-no way, did...

Shakily you reach out your hand, trying to find the wall you were just touching...you try moving toward it a bit more...but...

Nothing's here...

You jog a few steps forward where you know the wall should be, just confirming that, yeah, there's definitely nothing there anymore. And it's still pitch black, like...so dark you can't see your eyelids. What's going on...? This is...way weirder than the day changing time, and it's...way scarier...

"H-hello...!?" you shout, hoping maybe someone's there, maybe Hilda...or Anton, or... "Someone...! Is...h-hey, Hilda, are you there...!!"

You rush back and forth, trying to look around, but the total darkness is really confusing - and since everything but the floor is suddenly gone, you can't even tell where you're at. You keep fumbling around, but there's nothing...nothing at alll...

"H...Heeelllooooo!? Is anybody there!! Th-...Gill, I, I'm...-" you choke up as you suddenly get a really awful feeling. Like something bad is gonna happen...like you shouldn't have come in here.

"I...hello! Please..." you cry, crossing your arms close to yourself with a tight grip, since you're now very scared. Why is this happening...? This is too scary...you just wanted to...wh-where's Theo...?

As you walk, you start to try to call for Theo, but on your next step your foot doesn't find the ground...it just keeps going, like nothing's there. You tip forward, and...!

"Waahh!" You shout in a mix of shock and fear as you start to register the feeling of falling. You still can't see a thing but...you're falling!?

"Ah...!"

Y-you're falling!!

"Aaaahhh! Wh- haaaaaah!"

No! You shut your eyes tight as you scream. You don't want to-

"Aaaah- oof!"

Oww! Your head...! You instantly grab and clutch it tight. That hurt...!

Wait, you hit the ground!? You open your eyes and look around...you're inside, somewhere. In a room? You sit up, still rubbing your head...

"You alright, runt?"

Huh? Theo? You look around - you're back in your room! You're...fine! You...

You jump up and hug him without even thinking about it.

"I was...so scared..."

You sniffle loudly, and he pats your head.

"Another nightmare, then?", he asks with another pat, "Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere."

You pull away slightly and look up at him, confused.

"A...nightmare?"

He nods.

"Well, you just woke up screaming and fell out of bed. Whatever it was, it was just a dream, so you don't have to be scared."

"Just...a dream...no way, I couldn't have been dreaming...I went to go see Hilda, and..." then nothing was in her room, and it was all dark and then you started falling...

It sounds like a dream, but...it felt so real. And you still remember it all. But you really did just fall out of bed...

"Hilda...?" He squints at you then shakes his head, "Well, either way, you-"

How come he said Hilda's name like that...? Like...

"What do you mean? Sounding so confused...Hilda's..."

"Hm?"

"Hilda, the girl I made friends with upstairs earlier! Remember?"

He looks at you like you're crazy! What!?

"I don't remember anything like that. Are you really losing it?"

Huhhhh?

"You know, Hilda!" you repeat, insisting 'cause he has to remember her! "We went to go see Anton, and she was there...!"

"You were dreaming, because none of that happened."

Buh...no way! It definitely happened, you weren't dreaming all of that!

Seeing you're not convinced, he just sighs and finally starts to move away toward the other side of the room.

"While you're processing that, hurry and get ready. We're going out, and probably leaving this city sometime today."

What...?

"Huh?" is all you can really think to say in your surprise. Leaving...? Didn't he decide to investigate? And didn't this already happen? This is so weird...

"Planning to try and talk to feathers once more, maybe make a call, then decide where we're heading next. Don't really like this town."

"Feather lady...? Didn't she say she was leaving? And wait, I thought we were investigating something! You said so!"

He looks over at you, irritated.

"I don't know what you're talking about with feathers, but we didn't come here to investigate anything, just to meet her. I got paid, so now we're done here."

No way...there's no way you dreamed everything, but there's no way he forgot everything either, is there...?

...

"Um...Theo, when did we get here?"

"What? Yesterday." He finally stops what he's doing and stares over at you, squinting. "I'm serious, is there something wrong with you? Did you land on your head when you fell?"

"No! Well, I did, but...I'm not going crazy or anything!"

He says you got here yesterday...so...it's still the same day now as it was when you went to go see Hilda. If you went to sleep and were dreaming that, then right now it would be tomorrow, but it isn't tomorrow, so you weren't dreaming. But if you didn't fall asleep and dream it, then it should still be night, and...

You look out the window. It's light out...you check the clock, and...yeah, it's morning. So...it's morning again? Is this like when it randomly turned night, yesterday? It seems like it, except...it's like you just, restarted the day, or something.

Nnnngh! You grab your head in frustration. This is hard! You're so confused!

"Seriously," Theo says from right next to you, and you jump 'cause you didn't notice him getting closer. "Do you need more rest or something? A doctor?"

"N-no, I'm not crazy, it's all...it's not supposed to be morning, it's supposed to later today, or maybe even tomorrow..."

"Uh-huh. Tell me more about it later, right now I don't want to waste any time."

Agh! He's not taking you seriously!

[] What should you do/say...? (Write-in)

[] Just go along and do as you're told for now.

The plot thickens...you think?

[X] We'll prove it to him! Let's go there right now!
-[X] If he doesn't budge, tell him you're gonna hold your breath until you pass out unless he accepts!

That's a solid argumentation right there.

Perfect. Nothing can go wrong with this plan.
