Not really. Perhaps changes you from the list of minor annoyances to an affront to heaven. It's kind of like pirates deciding to burn the Popes house down. Not difficult to do. Just considered a bad decision to do so independently without a way to get away with it.

Pretty sure either the Shogun or the Emperor would be willing to hire you out though.

Huh. That does make sense. Honestly despite our religious problems were like every other clan, we are willing to back-stab in order to survive.

We were founded by military men, at current we would prefer to work with the Shogun than the emperor, of course money would be a wonderful reason to change my mind.

Who is the Emperor?
Also, I am seriously thinking of going Abe .As in a Samurai Branch of the descendants of Abe no Seimei.
Or the Takeda Clan.

Wade is the Emperor at Kyoto, Shogun is regrouping in a port just to its south and i'm the Takeda, Mina is the Uesugi and Theravis dibbed the Date (i can already tell a three-way stalemate is coming). Also for some reason the Oda is in Edo. But the remaining clans are all concentrated on the southern tip pretending to be Mongols, with a light sprinkling of pirates and monk temples.

It's Japan. Everywhere is a mountain fastness with very little territory.

Okay. Either doing a granddaughter (unhistorical, but hey, Tomoe Gozen is so much mythical it hurts ) of Tomoe Gozen and her lord .. that would be a cadet branch of the Minamoto , of the Saiwa Genji, right? In Mushashi.
Or a Abe stronghold in Iga.. thats most probably an Imperial clan.
Or Abes as lords of a Northren domain. Mutsu or Dewa.
Waiting for @JBO to weigh in.
On whose side wiuld the Tomoe descendent most probably be?
