[X] The docks. You've already made inroads there with Miles, so maybe it'd be best to press the advantage. The attack's still recent so there probably won't be much of a crowd - less exposure, less potential embarrassment. A major point of ingress and egress in City 32, plenty of cargo moving through shipyards dotted with loading cranes like watchtowers. Plenty of opportunity for overworked dockhands to let something slip by for a green handshake. Not very glamorous, but it's your 'home turf' now.

For some reason it feels most appropriate considering everything to continue doing the basic stuff continously, at least until we can afford to git gud.

[X] Shapeshifting. You've got a morphing alien for blood, and while it's doing its best it clearly has its limitations. Maybe it's like a muscle in its own right, just something you gotta work at until it beefs up? Try and find the limits of the symbiote's shifting abilities.

As a one and done sort of thing I'm good with learning how to do the shifty thing better.

[X] Caio. He seemed nice too, even if the suit makes you equally worried and curious. It'd at least be polite.

Early days means it's important to socialize and not just hide in our room all the time, but I want the PP. I want them. But this is not the vote option for that.

But soon. Hopefully.

[X] Kate. Okay, not the most approachable, but with some food and sleep the idea of introducing yourself doesn't seem quite as insurmountable now.
[X] All Play No Play (5XP) - The Lamplighters may not do much city-saving but there doesn't seem to be jack-all to do in the downtime either. Requisition some good old-fashioned videogames, maybe that'll be something to bond over.

Nothing quite says team building like Mario Party :V

[X] No one. Honestly your free time and energy is kind of at a premium right now - the symbiote's helping with physical stamina, but it can't do shit for the mental kind. Just stay quiet and solitary for now. [+1 PP]

"Remember what I said? Coming here is part of your 'beat'." Sung gestures in an all-encompassing manner. "Part of serving the public when it's not full-blown urban fighting with kaiju-spawn is knowing the area, knowing the right people, keeping your finger on the pulse. When you're B-class you have people to do that for you, people that come to you. When you're us, you've gotta get proactive. With me?"
Oh, I'll get proactive with yo-Sorry, got distracted for a minute there.

Whenever is "shapeshifting" not the right answer? Maybe one day we get good enough we can pretend to be someone else!

[X] Caio. He seemed nice too, even if the suit makes you equally worried and curious. It'd at least be polite.
Not gonna lie, for a split second I misread "Caio" as "cute". I take that as a divine omen.

[X] Positive Buzz (5XP) - Michael can get you a basic photo op if he pulls some strings, no problem. Beat up something from the Spheres that's scarier than you and look good while doing it, build up some hype for this mysterious alien hybrid that just showed up on the scene.

We already know John's target audience: People who recognize that aliens are cute and not scary at all. Since this undoubtedly covers the entire human race, we should be showing off our little buddy at first opportunity!

On top of what people have said already, It's worth noting that we do look like a drowned zombie, and we don't (yet) have the social confidence to really change that opinion. It is, I think, worth trying to build on a positive impression we've made with a portion of the populace in order to build a fledgeling Good Guy reputation, so that when we do eventually start moving up, there will already be an established opinion floating around of "yeah he looks creepy but that's not his fault, he's actually pretty nice."

[X] Agility training. As Sung (and Conway) proved to you yesterday, all your powers can't really do you much good if you can't react in time just because someone rushed you. Work on your speed and reflexes.

Mmm, I'm gonna go against the crowd here. Shapeshifting is kind of an omni-power that's certainly worth working on, and working on it first is far from a bad idea, but, I'm wondering if some reflex training might help John come out of his shell some by helping him learn how to react to people better. It means learning how to respond to unexpected situations and developments, how to not freeze up when somebody comes at you. Obviously, it's geared towards combat training, but perhaps there'll be some social overspill?

[X] Caio. He seemed nice too, even if the suit makes you equally worried and curious. It'd at least be polite.

I am really tempted by Kate or Florence, but if Florence means asking what happened to her that seems kind of intrusive, and you know John would screw it up. So it's down to Kate or Caio for me, and while I think making nice with Kate would be useful, especially given the impression we made on our sort-of boss, Caio seems more our speed at the moment.

These are both tempting, but I think focusing on the docks means it's better to leave this for right now. I feel like it would be better (and funnier, to laugh at throwing John in at the deep end) to purchase this later, in tandem with a stint around a more high-exposure area.

That in mind, I'm going to vote for...

[X] Get Some Grub (5XP) - Put in a requisition order with SERAPH for a simple food-prep drone. It won't be some gourmet food-fiend but it beats eating out every single night. And maybe it'll make things seem a little more homey.

Sung just admitted the Lamplighters don't have much in the way of kitchen facilities and offered to let us mooch off him. It's also pretty clear that the Lamplighters are at best resigned to their uh, accommodations. So, let's put our best foot forward with food, one of life's greatest simple pleasures. "Yeah, I'm quiet and awkward, and I did kinda beat one of you up already, but I really am here for you guys! I'm not gonna mooch - look, I brought something to help out and make the place feel better! please love me :<"

Low-stress and doing things which probably are more of our schtick than other avenues.

Shapeshifting is two things: befriending our alien puppy symbiont and doing Our Own Thing Which May Not Be The Best But Is Ours. Both are awesome.
Plus maybe we can unlock Family-Friendly-Shapeshifting? :V

Ookay, so, the guy is battling his bone-deep depression, so, while all those big deal resolutions and decisions may sound cool, in practice not overextending kinda matters a lot too, because burning out after thinking that yes!yes!you are doing things! - hurts way worse, and any impulse energy does not last all that long.
Hence taking it slow and taking +PP option after doing things - catching his breath and all.

I don't much care on where he goes, or what he decides to train on. But I do think we need to get back that PP we just used, and I figure the video games will help make up for choosing no one.
