GALACTIC WAR
Victory Points: 5
RESOURCES
TERRAN DOMINION [Background] (1)
The men and material of the Dominion - limited, but they're mustering as we speak.
ALLIANCE EXPEDITIONARY FORCES [Mastery] (1)
While you have access to several ACUs of every faction, they lack economic and technological support to be fully effective.
ZERG HIVE [Mastery] (1)
The scant few Zerg you control that are free of Amon's influence. Mostly Zerglings.
AEON FLEET [Background] (1)
While half a dozen CZARs seem impressive, they're not actually well made for ship to ship combat.
ALLIED COHESION [Motivation] (1)
The alliance is fragile and weak.

Sure, but LotV never managed to make me feel like Artanis in particular is worth said sacrifice. He's just too generic as far as video game good guys go and the campaign doesn't really spend enough time on how radically Protoss society needs to change to bring all the different groups of Protoss together (ie the integration of the Robot Protoss, the destruction of the caste system or whatever new status quo will be reached with the Tal'Darim). It all just kinda gets smooshed together into a few speeches for unity and stuff and then we're off to kill Amon.
WoL and HotS have much better interpersonal conflicts that drive the whole thing (Mengsk vs Jim, Jim vs Sarah, Sarah vs Mengsk) imo, which LotV doesn't really manage because it needs to finish the Hybrid/Amon plotline and then also kills off the single most recognizable Protoss character that's been around for like five or so campaigns at this point in the intro video. (but it also wants to have its cake and eat it too, so we get Not!Fenix anyway, though his character arc at least is decent I'll give them that) Idk, but to me it's a mess.

[X] Become Human
We were turn against our Will so go back to being human and when the time comes we can decide if we go back or not.

[X] Stay Zerg - keep character as is
Clarke has mostly gotten over her "what have I become" issues over the course of the campaign, and "using the Way" feels more Protoss-y than simply becoming human again.

Also, Artanis and Kerrigan on Amon's side? This is going to be a hell of a campaign.

It really should have had Zeratul leading them & uniting the Protoss (and forgiving himself for Razagul's infestation and him providing assisted suicide) w/ Artanis as his second etc.

I mean, harder to kill- and staying zerg for the physicals, learning psionics/the Way for the mental, and being determined as fuck and whatnot for her spirit(vaguely- I mean I guess this might count as transhumanism technically anyways lmao)

We can just add onto psychic skills from now on if it's not too difficult since the other stuff is pretty well-rounded by now right? Or- something, dunno exactly

Old self, new self, refining the new self further- iunno lmao

I don't think we should abandon what we've learned from being Zerg just to take on something new. It doesn't say good things about Clarke's ideology since becoming Cybran.

Well once again we have a great finale.

Looks like the Princess has come to the Starcraft setting for something to probably deal with Amon and Kael will be a factor.

And warning it appears that Amon has Awahsasa also known as t4 mercies or, sorry mods, asswashers and most likely the rest of the Seraphim arsenal.

For those unfamiliar with the unit the Asswasher is a t4 bomber, once again a unit more in line with large starships, that are able to drop a single bomb that will devastate unshielded bases (and not the protoss everything has individual shields either you need big shields and to take it down before they get multiple passes. A skilled player is able to self destruct the unit while it is dropping the bomb and hit a com with the wreak allowing them to kill a commander that is shielded.

With how Earth has fallen this time the Supcom factions are in a much better condition than Cannon. Marxon did not get to break the UEF army in the field and get at Earth so Riley and more likely to soon be Hall has a bigger chunk of both the Colonies and the overextended UEF military Machine is still intact.

As I said before the Cybrans are a bit of a mystery and depends on if QAI needed operation Artifact to be subverted.

The Aeon know that the Princess is still alive and her behaviors are more in line with the Way so her Loyalists are going to be much stronger compared to the start of Forged Alliance. However Marxon is still alive so Kael has someone actually competent and officially is supposed to be in control of the Aeon war machine. However given that the Aeon are based off of Xel'naga instead of Seraphim a lot of this is still up in the air and up to GM plans.

Overall the situation for us outside our sector is that we are going to be the peacemakers and solve the issues of the infinite war. The Supcom Factions have not been pushed to the edge enough and have old guard still in power to be a problem that we will have to solve.

But then we wouldn't have a game if we were not needed.

But since I did not play LOTV, I procrastinated on getting it and then Blizzard revealed the RL horrors, so I am not familiar what Hybrids will bring to the table.

Plus Amon the biggest lore drop here is that Amon is not alone.

Leader of the Xel'naga EXPIDITION. There are more Amons and the scale of our worries should be rising.

Ironically making him a good mirror and foil for our protagonist at the start of the Quest.

For what we should be doing next, I am ambivalent to whether or not Sam becomes human again or not. The Question for the early game is going to be who do we target first to get them out from under Amon's control.

This is not a question that I am feeling sure of where to go though yet.

But we can be sure of 1 thing.

Mengnsk is going to do something stupid.

I mean, to be honest, has he actually done anything stupid or just things contrary to your objective of "remove him from power."
Kinda!

Mengsk to me is Rationally irrational. His individual steps are rational and smart... but his goals are kinda ass and mutually exclusive which is why he is in the position he's in.

It really should have had Zeratul leading them & uniting the Protoss (and forgiving himself for Razagul's infestation and him providing assisted suicide) w/ Artanis as his second etc.
Honestly they kinda dropped the ball when through all of WoL and HotS we got like a single named protoss character (Selendis) (oh actually I think the protoss captive we infest in HotS also gets one, but she dies immediately so whatever), instead of setting up anything for the conflicts in LotV. WoL and HotS can coast on the narrative work done in SC1 and BW, but by the time Mengsk is dead that well has decidedly run dry and there's nothing really to replace it for the last campaign.

"Get away from her, you bitch!"

The booming voice came from the PA system built in the final Monkeylord. You had no idea how distracted you had to be to miss a whole goddamn experimental robot from stomping up on you, but apparently, it was this distracted. Sarah-Amon turned and stepped away from you. She spread her arms, and laughed.

Dostya, the tactical genius everyone!

Poor Jim, this going to be the second time he has to rescue Sarah while she's brainwashed.

[Jk] Become Protoss ... somehow...

It's a new Act, so therefore we change races right? RIGHt?!?

But more seriously:

[X] Stay Zerg - keep character as is

Oh, well I didn't mean to imply losing that either, was generally referring to psionics really, when I said mental- "physicals" being the general zergy shenanigans for example

EDIT:
Sam's already on her way to learning from almost all the factions anyways- only the Aeon/the Way is missing, and most of the zergy learnings are best done while at least partially zerg anyways

Okay, here's my hot take for the day: I get why Selendis, the new and cool character is possessed by Amon in Legacy of the Void, and I think it's actually a good idea. The only problem is that Amon is boring and sucks, so doing it doesn't work.

The idea is this: you need to care.

Amon has taken over huge swaths of the Protoss, and threatens the galaxy. Big stakes! But it's hard to emotionally invest in planets and solar systems. It is easy to go "That dick has stolen my cool friend and is taunting me with her puppeteered body" - and if Amon didn't suck, that'd work a lot better.

(And by suck, I mean he's...boring and has no personality and his goal makes no sense)
