GALACTIC WAR
Victory Points: 5
RESOURCES
TERRAN DOMINION [Background] (1)
The men and material of the Dominion - limited, but they're mustering as we speak.
ALLIANCE EXPEDITIONARY FORCES [Mastery] (1)
While you have access to several ACUs of every faction, they lack economic and technological support to be fully effective.
ZERG HIVE [Mastery] (1)
The scant few Zerg you control that are free of Amon's influence. Mostly Zerglings.
AEON FLEET [Background] (1)
While half a dozen CZARs seem impressive, they're not actually well made for ship to ship combat.
ALLIED COHESION [Motivation] (1)
The alliance is fragile and weak.

For future reference, can we connect up with the systems on the Asteroid and issue orders to the engineers? Bring the space fortress into the fight?

  • [X] Sneak a small team aboard the science vessel and see what mischief you can do with that psionic disruptor before the battle
[X] Send Zeratul in to steal the psi disruptor, then threaten the Dominion fleet with the nuclear base into surrendering/retreating/whatever. Use two command sparks to ease things along if need be.

Is it just me or is the Zerg campaign pretty heavy on hero units going on special missions and light on the more classic base building?

Hmm...

...weirdly appropriate...

ACT TWO, MISSION SIX: To Open the Way (0.2)
You pointed with one finger. "Are you seeing what I'm seeing?"

Everyone looked.

"There's no way Duke missed that," Sarah said.

Jim nodded.

I'm afraid I do not see what it is you have seen, my friends, Artanis said.

"Well, there is a sensor blindspot there, between the Zerg formation here and the..." You cocked your head. "...oh I see."

How could their sensors not see there? It's quite easily covered by a psionic sweep every - oh wait, you use primitive electromagnetic impulses, do you not? Artanis said, rubbing his mouthless chin. I see it.

They fear trechery,
Zeratul said from behind Jim, causing Jim to jerk in surprise. He half spun, frowning at Zeratul.

"Where have you been old man? Did you miss the little Protoss civil war we almost had back there?"

I foresaw that my presence would not have aided the situation, Zeratul said. And there were...other paths. Something dark is stirring. I cannot quite see it beyond... He trailed off. Then, firmly, he turned to face you. I must come with you on this quest to open the way.

You nodded. "I'll be glad to have you," you said, frowning and crossing your arms over your chest. "I'm figuring we get aboard the SV, find the psi-disruptor, then turn it onto Daggoth. With the broods in disarray, Sarah, you swoop in and take control of what you can while Dostya and Major Horner quantum drop onto the planet surface from the E1." Loading a Cybran ACU, restored to Dostya's specifications, aboard the battered and bruised E1 had taken overriding so many security programs it wasn't even funny.

Matt and you had talked then.

You touched your chest.

If it was anyone else...General...Sam...you've been through more than anyone's ever been, I think. At least, anyone this side of the Koprulu Sector. And you came out of it you. Despite everything...still you. And I was willing to follow you to hell and back again.

He had paused, looking away, his voice determined.

Once we're done here, once the New Overmind's dead and Mengsk is in jail, we'll see about Riley.

You dropped your hand from your chest, focusing on the now. "Think you can get us into that sensor shadow with a drop-pod, Sarah?"

"I can," she said, her voice wry. "And I'll be coming with you."

You frowned. "You sure about that?"

"Proximity might be everything. Having you there to focus my powers without any attenuating space between us is only logical," Sarah said, coolly. "And...I owe Duke." Her hand lifted up and she flexed her fingers - tiny black claws springing from her fingertips. Jim sighed, quietly, but didn't dissuade her.

"So, Zeratul, me and Sarah," you said, frowning. "We'll have to rely on physical stealth and whatever tricks you use, old man."

Indeed, Artanis said. I doubt you could fit the Queen of Blades into a suit of marine armor. Though the image is rather enjoyable to contemplate.

You snorted.

Then you cocked your head to the side.

"...actually," you said, slowly. "...we still have Nova's gear. And Nova. Her codes have to have been changed, but we can use the patterns of her gear to fabricate some passable Ghost outfits. They're special operatives with wide latitude and secretive missions, most rank and file won't ask too many questions about where they go."

You turned to the others. "Thoughts on that?"

I still say you should have let me infest her, to make sure she doesn't cause any problems in the future, Sarah grumbled, quietly.

You shot her a glower. For the last time, my Queen...no. You don't really want to do that. I know you don't really want to do that. It's just habit.

Sarah inclined her head. ...also, she'd look good as a Zerg.

You, for a moment, saw a rather clear image of a transformed Nova, eyes glowing, cocky grin beaconing, and the...definitely the Zerg part of you, and no other part, no other part at all, bucked up at the idea of that little minx finally being broken to heel and-

You shook your head as the others discussed the various plans. Stop that!

I wasn't doing anything, that was entirely you,
Sarah shot back.

The vote, it seemed, came out too...

HEAT: 0/6

[ ] Infiltrate using the Dark Templar Way (Diff 5 Telepathic Domination check, 1 heat)
[ ] Infiltrate using fabricated Ghost gear (Diff 5 Deception check, 5 heat)
[ ] Write in (be sure to say who it is that comes up with this new idea, just for roleplaying purposes)

You may ask: Why use fabbed Ghost gear if the heat's higher?

Well, science vessels are detectors, so the Dark Templar way is going to lead to higher difficulties down the road unless you're clever and have good write in plans!

Also, DC, I think you made a typo (Zeratul calling Raynor Zeratul).

And yeah, as the person above said, there's definitely something wrong here, though I'm not sure if it's a missing word or the wrong name.

I think that's just supposed to be "Zeratul said" or the like.

I love these useless lesbians.

The Sparks here aren't accurate. Zagara should be either expended or changed and I think Nova being captured should be represented in some way.

Could they fab up the ghost gear in case it's needed, but then use the Dark Templar method for the initial infiltration?

[X] Infiltrate using the Dark Templar Way (Diff 5 Telepathic Domination check, 1 heat)
-[X] But have the Ghost gear fabricated as well, just in case you need to move around openly. (As suggested by Jim)
