I was talking about quests yo. I know those things also happened in history.
Most of fiction, quests included, tend to take lots of inspiration from myths and history, so I thought that would be valid talking point since Sorceror King directly references a RL place and we've discussed other RL groups we drew on to make some of the votes here. Didn't really mean to imply anything else with that.

And as weird as it may sound, I didn't imply you were implying anything. Only that since I didn't participate in, or read, quest with demigod ruler it sounded weird for you to bring history to the topic. Misunderstandings, you've gotta love them, eh?
Like being an Undead warlord, and an insane half elemental dosen't sound like an edgy fanfic.
True, but there are... different variations of edge, I guess? Well, your idea simply sounds like the most popular premise of edge-fiction (Edgiction?) to me. No offence, of course.
Hey now, there's no reason said Undead Warlord (lady?), half-elemental or chimera of limbs can't have nuance! When it comes to these things, it's all about execution.
That too is true. Eh, you can make any idea, even and edgy sounding one, into a good story if you try hard enough. And you can actually create interesting world and characters. And possibly have a talent.

Blessing of creativity gods definitely wouldn't hurt either.

Character Creation - Stage 2
There is a land in the middle of Pangea, somewhat to the east of Albion and Europa, but not as far as to reach Cathay. This land is known to many traders as Mesopotamia. Rather than being a united kingdom, it is a desert land with a plethora of city-states scattered over it. One of these city-states, one of the most splendorous of them saw turmoil in times of the Month of Magic. Many magical creatures, such as deadly bulls and boars walked the earth and destroyed crops.

The city-state's name was...

[] Write-in. (Name of the city-state. Something fitting, ie: Ur, Bagdad, Mosus, Uruk, Babil, etc.)

As the month began, the leylines overflowed with power, the soul of the planet becoming empowered by all life on it. And likewise, many creatures that were magically irradiated and turned into powerful monsters and beasts walked the earth. The sun's rays were scalding, killing anyone who step foot outside the city for too long. The deserts were deadly, full of snakes and other evil creatures. Naturally, no one walked outside of the safe confines of the city. No one important, that is. Slaves were making their ways towards the nearest lakes and oases in order to draw fresh water from them. It was then that they saw the Goddess of Wisdom, revealing herself to them above the oasis, whose name was...

[] Write-in. (Name of the mother. Fitting examples: Ra-Vi, Kongi, Ennugi, Ninlil, Nanna, Ninsun.)

She was there to investigate the rumors regarding the king of the city-state, rumored to be a...

[] Despotic tyrant. Said to sit upon his golden throne within the palace, constantly increasing taxes and taking goods from the people, so he could live a life of pleasure.
[] Great hero. Rumors say that he saved many of his subjects by killing dangerous beasts and even slaying a dragon on his own.
[] Write-in. (Father's personality.)

And his name was...

[] Write-in. (Father's name. Fitting examples: Ur-Gala, Zuqaqip, Lugalbanda, Shatamurrim, Nidnatum, Enlil.)

The Goddess told to the slaves: "If you show me where your king is, I will give you a hero to free you of the beasts of the desert."

The slaves led her to the palace, where she met the king in person. The two fell in love very quickly, being naturally fond of each other. The Goddess made a visit to the king's bedroom, and the next night, miraculously, she gave birth to a child. Without any lengthy pregnancy. Her fertility was fitting of her status. She gave birth to...

[] A son. (No siblings.)
[] Two twins. (You and a brother.)
[] Two twins. (You and a sister.)
[] Three twins. (You, a brother, and a sister.)
[] Three twins. (You and two sisters.)
[] Three twins. (You and two brothers.)
[] Write-in. (Any other combination.)

And his/their name/s was/were...

[] Write-in. (The names of you and your siblings, if you have any.)

[] Appearance. (Either write a description of the main character or propose a picture.)

[X] Plan (Possibly) Not a complete expy
-[X] [City's Name] Eridu
-[X] [Mother's Name] Nisaba
-[X] [Father] Benevolent Despot. His greatest concern was prosperity of Eridu and well-being of its inhabitants. Despite this, he wasn't a 'soft' or forgiving person; punishments for breaking the law were harsh and any who would dare to threaten his family, city, or people would quickly meet their demise. Although he loves his family, in the end they will be only second in the terms of importance, with the city first and himself third.
-[X] [Father's Name] Enmerkar
-[X] [Children] Four Twins (You, Brother and two Sisters)
-[X] [Names]
--[X] [You] Shamash
--[X] [Brother] Etana
--[X] [Sister] Siduri
--[X] [Sister] Shala
-[X] [Appearance] Placeholder until I find a better picture. Or if people want to be Gil expy

Explanation:
Eridu was considered to be the first city by Sumerians so why not.
Nisaba
Sounds more interesting than a simple tyrant or a hero
Enmerkar
I dunno why I went with so many siblings truth be told.
Shamash
Etana
Siduri
Shala

Finding a female name that doesn't belong to a goddess is hard. So I didn't bother. By the way, there wasn't much thought process in choosing the name, the link are there only if someone want to know to whom said name belongs.

Looking for an image now, could always use help though. Placeholder is there is people actually want to look like Gil, personally I don't particularly care.

[X] Plan: Gilgamesh was my Dad!
-[X] Uruk
-[X] (Mother's name) Enkidu
-[X] an Arrogant man, yet one who saw a thing's value. He collected many treasures and accumulated great wealth, eventually trying to win the hand of a goddess in marriage.
-[X] Gilgamesh
-[X] Three twins. (You and two sisters.)
-[X] (You) Igmilum
-[X] (Sister) Lilith
-[X] (Sister) Gemeshega
-[X] You are rather effeminate, with the ruby-red eyes of your father and the pale green hair of your mother. You are lithe and slim, but can hit much harder than you reasonably should, with some comparing your build to that of a great cat of the jungles of Amazonia. While your sisters stand head and shoulders above you, no shame is felt as in your experience others underestimate you for your short stature.

Since my half-elemental didn't win, would you mind if I wrote up a bit of lore about her if she is used as an NPC?

Fine w/ the other names.

I honestly don't know why you found 'Eridu' to be irritating to say. Unless—now that I think about it—you're saying it with English accent, then yeah, I can see how it could be annoying.

It wasn't originally what I wanted, but I think in the end I prefer Gil in Uruk Costume for appearance; that's mostly because I simply don't like bishounens tho.

That and this outfit looks great, methinks.

I have no idea what the best way to say eridu is.
I can say it in the english ways, which are err-ee-doo and ere-ee-doo. I can say it in the japanese way, eh-ri-du. I can say it in the latin way, ay-ree-doo. None of these are pleasant, and when we inevitably try to decline the word into a descriptor of the citizens it will become something horrendous like eriduans, eriduoans, eridii, etc. Uruk is too curt, Eridu is too vowely w/ uncertain emphases. Aleppo has the right amount of pop.

Oh wait, there was a pic? It's nice, though I might want something else as that character a) is blond which is unrealistic (green is worse, I know, but I'm so tired of blond anime chars) b) looks evil. I have no idea who Gil is.

I'm thinking of someone more like the second pic.

I pronounce it Polish way. Which I guess is similar to eh-ri-du but with harder (I think it's the correct word) r than English. Well, it really depends on your native language if the name sounds weird or not. I mean, Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz (something like Gzhegozh Bzhenchyshchykyevich?) is normal to me.

Gil as in Gilgamesh from Fate Series. No surprise he looks evil; while it's arguable if he's actually evil, he definitely is an arsehole. Enkidu in the other plan was also a reference to his Fate version.

This doesn't look bad, maybe I'll try to search for something similar.

Both of those are too.... what's the opposite of bara?
Gilgamesh and Enkidu were basically bros. & probably not the weird skinny skateboard douche kind of bro.

lol

This is Nasuverse. Be happy they didn't get genderbended like King Arthur or Emperor Nero or plenty other characters.

While looking for Mesopotamian characters, I've come to one conclusion: they had the most glorious beards.

[X] Plan (Possibly) Not a complete expy

Aleppo is a non-semetic name, which is weird with the inspiration and the rest of the names... (Halab is the original Semetic name of the city, and it's pretty close to the modern Hebrew and Arabic names)

*I'm a native Hebrew speaker, so I guess non of this names are difficult for me to pronounce :p

Let's see...
