Soon enough, you come upon a set of ruins much worse than Tijuana's. The strange part is, however, that you find a house. It's right in the middle of them, with no one around. An ordinary red brick house, well maintained and untouched, surrounded by ruins. It's really quite strange. Something that strange can only be the person you're looking for. Ziggy only gave you a name, Pepper. Now you just have to hope this all works out. You approach the door when you hear a woman's voice through a megaphone mounted on the wall.
"That's far enough, fucko. What do you want with my house?" "My name is Alex Rivera. I'm here on behalf of Ziggy, leader of the Stardust Gang. I'm cashing in a favor for him, and he wants you to cash in one too."
There's a tension-filled pause.
"Ziggy? He's still alive? Ain't that something. Well, you can go tell him that he's not getting a damn thing from me. I have nothing more to say to you."
"But what about the favor?" you return, rather lamely.
"Why should I care about a scumbag like him? I got what I wanted from him, but he's not use to me now. If he wants to come after me, let him. He'll die, I guarantee you."
She doesn't seem to be open to negotiation at all. Perhaps if you appealed to her morals?
"The favor is to get rid of ten evil Stand users. Are you sure you don't want in? You'll be removing a bunch of people worse than Ziggy from the world."
Another pause. "I told you, I'm not interested. Leave now." "Is there any way at all to convince you to help me?" "No, and if you keep trying you won't like what happens to you."
To be honest, you kind of just assumed that Pepper would help you if you came to her with the favor request. What to do, what to do...
"Tell you what." She says.
Oh? She seems to at least be considering things. That seems interesting.
"Let me see that list. Then, I want you to defeat one of these guys on your own and bring back proof, to prove that you're reliable. Do that, and I'll help you, but you'll owe me a favor of equal magnitude, just like Ziggy owes you." You fold your arms and frown. That's not the kind of deal you were hoping for, but what choice do you have?
But you're already in Ziggy's debt! You can't get in debt with someone else to get out of your current debt! You have things to do on your own!
Well, showing her the list isn't a problem on its own... You can decide whether to take her deal later you suppose.
You walk up to the front of the house and slip the folder under the door. The next five minutes are quite awkward, and you try to find some way to occupy yourself. From what the document says, the weakest of the Devil's fingers are:
Mick McMicks, who has a long range Stand of some sort
Robert Astley, whose Stand is known to have some sort of mental effect
Charlie Bonham, whose Stand is known to have a defensive ability
The document slips back to you from under the door, and Pepper speaks to you without the intercom for the first time. "I wrote down the cliff's notes. Bring me a head or a photo or something. Go on, scram. I have nothing more to say to you until you bring me evidence that you're a dependable fighter."
This really is annoying. You didn't think she'd be such a reclusive type.
Well, there's only one thing left to do. One way or another, you aren't getting any help from her until you take down one of the Devil's Fingers. All that remains is to decide which one you're going after and track them down. Considering you're alone and have little experience with Stands, it's best to go for one of those weaker ones. You step away from the house, and hear the sounds of several doors closing, making odd mechanical sounds. Your Stand could simply phase through, but for any ordinary person, you get the feeling that it's far, far more secure than it looks.
It'll take you a couple of days to reach any of their known locations, so travel isn't a factor.
Which of the Devil's Fingers will you attempt to take out first?
