When does it happen in comparison to the War and who's in charge at the time? Optimus and/or Rodimus, especially after Earth, would probably be all for it for how to run civilian things at least.
Didn't Optimus actually try to set something like that uo in one of the IDW continuities? Pf course it didn't work because nice things only exist to be corrupted or destroyed in comics, but still.

Bumblebee actually. Optimus resigned and gave him and Rodimus each half of the Matrix, and Bumblebee tried it, but Starscream pulled a 'Trump' and won.
There's been several continuities where Cybertron was ruled by a Council or Senate of some sort, generally with it left unstated whether this was a House of Lords or an actual democracy.
Granted, usually this Council or Senate ends up a villain to facilitate the "heroes do everything and have no external support" narrative core to anything not a political drama, but theoretically were there a timeline where the council or senate was rebuilt after the war and DIDN'T all get all tyranty I'm pretty sure Optimus would genuinely prefer such a democratically elected council run things so he can make like Pius IX [was forced to] and go from simultaneously being a head of [local] state and head of [global] religion to just having the religious position, being a moral authority and advisor without actually having to make life or death decisions or fight wars

I admit, I'd have Optimus try to quietly retire from politics to be a librarian. Orion Pax was simple dock worker who dreamed of rising to be a librarian and teacher. Optimus Prime is a general, revolutionary leader, and mystically empowered demigod that still dreams of being a librarian and teacher.

Time for another Transformers Tuesday review! It's time to do a toy I love and just adore. Folks, today I review...
ROTF Scout-class Ransack
Ransack was released in 2009, as part of the ROTF toyline. he doesn't appear in the movie. And he is awesome. I mean look at him! he's a biplane! And even better, according to the TF Wiki, it's a real-life biplane, the German Albatross D..III biplane. I'm near 100% certain he's the only one in the franchise with a biplane alt mode. And I just... I just adore him so much.
Here's his brand. Just metal as hell.
Transformation is pretty easy. The tail folds down and splits to form the legs and feet. The struts on the wings form the arms. The wings fold back and the front forms the main torso and head. Nothing too exciting. He's another toy you can pick up and mess about with. And what do we get?
I just... I can't really articulate why I love Ransack so damned much. He's got so much personality. He really looks like an ancient Seeker. The details are all there, where the wings are, the cockpit and front forming the chest, but it looks... old, naturally. Again, so much personality here. Articulation's pretty good, too. The head's on a ball joint and can bob about. Shoulders are on ball joints and are universal. The arms are simple swivels. The machine gun and bombs can rotate. There's a waist joint. Hips are on universal ball joints. No hip swivel, but the knees bend and the ankles can move about.
Ransack is... he's a joy for me. he's small, but there's nothing inherently wrong with him. An awesome alt mode, good transformation, and a good robot mode. I recommend him if you can get him for a decent price.
One of the few bayformer style toys I legitimately love, along with 2010's Terradive (who stands with my TFTM crew as "Lithonian A") and most of the targetmaster animals (Air Razor, wolf, gator, rhino, and monke, not so much the white and yellow kittehs) from Rice of the Beets. Especially the rhino gun, he's about five times mroe badass than prectically any other 5mm compatible gun or targetmaster.
I'm just annoyed I never found out about let alone found the little 1920s-30s car guy who has a stovepipe hat in robot mode until well after he'd strted climbing in the colelctor's market.
I do mot like If I Fall, no matter what visuals are set to it.
edit to add: WRT to the core class Seeker to TM Waspinator thing... I clearly need to restrain my ambition to paint-only customs, alas. At least I found out while trying to make the add on parts before cutting into the figure to make slots for them? Still disappointing, though.
Speaking of ELita, I broke down and got that gimmick-toy rock-em-sock-em version, since her TFOne SS won't be released until this time next year. Robot mode is exactly as pathetic as it looks, only hingi8ng out at the the shoulders on a freely swinging friction joint for the "flail around at opponent robot" gimmick, but light-cycle mode actually does look pretty decent, as long as you make sure to fold the head/wheel section down all the way before trying to close the shell/arms section. The tread pattern on the front wheel means it makes an authentic toy motorbike engine rattle rolling it around too
It's time for Tuesday, which means it's Transformers Tuesday. Which means another review! I decided to dip my toes into Armada, with a toy from that line I really like. Folks, here is...
Armada Super-Con-class Hoist
Hoist was released in 2003. In the show, he was an upgraded form of Smokescreen. We'll get to Smokescreen... next October. He's a Cybertronian excavator. Yes, his vehicle mode is made up, but at least you can tell what it is. It looks like a vehicle. He rolls, and his minicon gimmick works in this mode, too.
Wait. What's that, you ask? What's a Minicon gimmick? Well, in Armada, most of the toys had spring-activated features where you plugged a smaller robot onto a peg to unlock it. We'll get to Hoist's in a bit. As for this mode, it's a good mode, nothing overall wrong with it.
Transformation is simple, but satisfying. The treads unfold into legs. The two pods on the side turn into the arms, and the head rtates up from the back. Simple and elegant.
And here's Hoist. He's a big bruiser of a 'Bot. I like how he looks. One thing I appreciate are the arms raising like that. And for an Armada toy, he's got some damned good articulation. The head's on a ball joint. His shoulders rotate 360 degrees. he's got a 90 degree elbow bend on his left arm, and both arms have elbow rotation. Yes, the scoop claw can rotate. I love that. His fingers and thumb can move. Unfortunately, since there's a Minicon port there in the palm of his hand, he can't really hold anything. He's got waist rotation, universal hips, a knee bend. Sadly no hip swivel, but he does have ankle pivoting!
And here's the gimmick in action. Push on the plunger for EPIC PUNCH ACTION!!!!! Although amusingly enough, the tab locking it into place is almost ridiculously easy to move even without the Minicon plugged in. And can be put back into place easily.
As for the Minicon...
This is Refute. He's a... vehicle with grabber claws. Minicons that came with larger toys overall were pretty simple, but Refute has a gimmick of his own. Roll him along and the grabber claws open and close. And mine still works!
Transformation is very simple. Pull the back out to form the legs. Rotate at the waist and stand up.
And here he is. Nothing 'wrong' with him. He's a simple guy. Shoulder and knee rotation and waist swivel. He kinda looks like a 50s sci-fi robot to me, too.
And that was Hoist and Refute. Overall it's a good set. A few flaws, but nothing too major.
So, question. I'm thinking of starting a theme series next week, but I'm not sure which one to go with. Which do you prefer?
1. My G1 baseformers-Metroplex, Omega Supreme, Trypticon, and Fortress Maximus.
Or...
2. The 'Deluxe' toys of G1's Wave One. Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Soundwave.
I'm gonna do both, but which one would you like to see me start out with?
I have the Cybertron version of that mold where they switched the gimmick and made him the cybertronian version of the giraffe from one of the JP Beast Wars series (Longrack iirc?). I agree the mold is awesome for the era, I really like him.
