The Enemy Within (WHF Witch Hunter Quest)

[X] No. You'll send him on his way, and hopefully never lay eyes on the man again.

We just established being kind of hating mercenaries. I know this isn't the exact same but it falls close enough I feel we wouldn't want more hired help at the moment.

[X] Mentor a Wizard. Your father could have, should have, turned himself in to the colleges. Finding another in his situation, one who needs you to guide them, and seeing them become a respected magister will redeem him and you both.

Look the Sienna - Saltzpyre dynamic in Vermintide was kind of fun, so seeing either something like that or a young inexperienced magic user under the protection of a big scary witch hunter will be cool.

Something like that," Max nods agreeably, "I hurt people. I'm good at it. Scare them pretty good too, and I don't need to wave a pistol around to do it. Figure you might be interested."
… are we allowed to "train" this guy? And by train I mean really scourge his soul so he realizes he's an absolute piece of shit before Sigmar. Lay bare his sins and what he needs to atone for.

Because right now, all Max sees is another scary dude who can project an impression. He doesn't comprehend that this is not the average rabble-rousing firebrand with a gun. We're a Templar.

[x] Find the Witch. The woman who brought your father those forbidden texts is the one who damned him. You know her name - Etelka Herzen - and one day you will have justice for her crimes.

[X] Yes. You'll arrange a stipend at the chapterhouse later, and he will meet you by the docks tomorrow morning.

Saltzpyre and Sienna dynamic in a nutshell.

I voted No on Max because i do not trust him to have Markus' back against truly bad odds. I assume hes a decent fighter and will be useful if we get jumped by street toughs or the like, but hes a proffessional bully. If we run into ghosts and ghoulies in Bögenhafen he'll be dead weight at best

We already learnt a lesson about trustworthy allies and we have a hatred for mercenaries. This seems like a really bad idea.

this is really, really interesting. A truly unique goal.

Let's have a super toxic relationship!

This could be perfect for dealing with the merchants, a deniable asset we could use to probe/infiltrate the networks of different merchants or criminal organizations and other actions that we want to engage but we don't want to associate with. A mainly intrigue-based agent that's less for actual fighting or anything crucial worth our trust and more for intel gathering, probing, bullying information out of people, looking more intimidating, and other stuff that we could do before we go in guns blazing. If nothing else, we could just fire him later without much of a fuss if he's not up to fluff or shoot him in the back if he gets any heretical ideas, they're type would do no different to us. Remember, he's not some adventuring champion that we'll form bonds with or something, he's a tool that we can use to do the things we can't with our money and promptly dispose of if no longer useful, that's all. It's how we should've treated the last mercenary we came across instead of being ensnared by their charms.

[X] Confess your Sins. Find some fault in Sigmarite dogma, something truly undeniable and intolerable, and you will break their hold over you. Then you can be forgiven for what you did. Then you can be punished.
We're already studying law, might as well go into philosophy and theology as well. Plus, the Sigmirate codes may need a little updating now that wizards have been walking around for a while.

Witch Hunter crews are basically suicide squads.

I want to now like our minions.

Edit: also he has a high cool skill, really needed when most of your targets have the fear trait.

[X] Yes
[X] Enter the Garden. Through the prayers of a Morrite or the magic of an Amethyst you might find your father's spirit. Nothing else will suffice. And if such methods fail, well, there is always the traditional way.
