The Enemy Within (WHF Witch Hunter Quest)

[X] Reinforce the Mines

For the Dwarfs, it probably doesn't help that we have a major Clan leader of multiple mining stakes and great wealth achieved through exacting correctness along traditional Dawi lines, one who probably has like a direct line to the old school mountain-dwellers and a cousin Greathammer Longbeard who can then go to an actual Karak's royal court. Compared to a lot of other Imperial Dwarfs like the laborer work gang Markus met previously, or the rare occasion of coming directing into Karaz Ankor and already accepting and being warily allowed into a fully Dwarf social and legal environment, its kinda the worst of both worlds with a tangle of Imperial Dwarf contract negotiations and Karak Clan-oaths. One such that leading Dwarfs like Gorrim can take full advantage, in the same way that like the Averlander petty baronage at the borders of former Solland and the World's End Mountains, or the hetmans of the Ostermark Veldt, or etc... are massive massive headaches that require the Emperor's or at least multiple Elector's personal intervention to get their damn taxes paid.

Remember when I said that the Red Crown deals in mutants and Beastmen? Well, here's the Beastmen.

Khazid Slumbol's dwarfs are kinda the worse. IIRC even if you do get an "alliance" with them they tend to ruin things, like trying to get elven PCs killed in a deniable way when given a chance. They'll do this even after you've proven their innocence regarding the raids.

Though I am a little sad we didn't find Durak Dimholt. We don't have enough proper beards in this party.

It matters little what will happen to the mutants. The Dwarfs have now 2 grudges to settle (one against Etelka and another against the mutants, that squat in their mine). Even if they survive this encounter, the Dawi will assault this place one day and slay all who inhabit it to reinforce their claim to the mine and it has nothing to do with who lives there. However, the Clan knows, that nobody will defend the mutants and their rights, therefore they will gladly seize the opportunity to attack them without repurcussions.

If Markus makes it out of this alive I hope he won't regret the chain of humanitarian decisions that led him here. 'Oh if only I'd been a more ruthless bastard I would have closed the case.'

Changing opinion. Ending the quest in the mines as Etelka Herzen collapses the mountain on us would be glorious, but overrated.
