With the upcoming second season and at least three fanfics, TEiS deserves its own discussion thread.

"Shadow: We are Shadow Garden. We lurk in the shadows and hunt the shadows. That is all we live for."

"I don't want to be the last boss. I want to be the one in the stories who operates from the shadows. The Eminence in Shadow!"

Cid Kagenou, The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!, literally "I Wanna Be the Power in the Shadows!")

The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!) is a 2018 Japanese web serial novel by Aizawa Daisuke. Just like everyone adored heroes in their childhood, a certain young man adored those powers hidden in shadows. After hiding his strength and living the mediocre life of a mob character by day while undergoing frenzied training by night, he finally reincarnates into a different world and gains ultimate power. The young man who is only playing at being a power in the shadows, his misunderstanding subordinates, and a giant organisation in the shadows that gets trampled... This is the story of a young boy who adored powers in shadows, possibly eventually reigning over the world of shadows in another world.

The series has a manga adaptation, a light novel adaptation published by Kadokawa, an English translation of the light novel by Yen Press, and an anime adaptation that aired on October 5, 2022. There is also a spin-off ONA series called Kagejitsu!, which features the characters in chibi form. A spin-off manga, "Eminence in Shadow: Shadow Side Story," has been announced.

TLDR, a Chunni boy who is a martial arts self-made prodigy, isekais into the conspiracy hell world. Only he thinks he is roleplaying, and he is fighting regular (for Isekai) criminals.
The original web novel is on pause for the light novel.

OC Ideas
Name: Arceli Velgata

Nickname: Archie

Personality: Arcadia/Archie is an adventurous, carefree tomboy who loves taking on missions from the guild. She's also incredibly sociable due to her energetic personality, with many people being at ease in her presence. Despite her lax attitude, Archie has a keen eye, picking up things to take notice or exploit later in the future. She's also a brave young woman, willing to stay behind to allow her comrades and civilians to escape from harm.

Weapons: A small dagger and a pair of revolvers.

Bio: Arcadia Velgata was born the 13th Child of Emperor Velgata. Arcadia had lived an unfavorable life, not only suffering from strict conditions by both the servants and her parents but also having to avoid the treachery from all her siblings that lusted to claim the throne for themselves.

Her life was radically changed when on her way to home from a political mission, her caravan was attacked by bandits. Arcadia feared the worst only help came in the form of a mysterious bounty hunter named Helsing from the West. The princess watched in awe as Helsing brutally dispatched the attackers with a beautiful golden gun.

She was safely escorted back thanks to the bounty hunter who immediately left after they reached their destination. Since that moment, Arcadia wanted to be an Adventurer like Helsing. When she reached the age of 13, Arcadia secretly enlisted an Adventurer's Guild under the guise, Archie. Ever since then, Archie felt more alive than she ever was back in her household.

Name: Helsing from the West

Nickname: Helsing the Deadshot, Helsing the Terrible, The Monster from the West.

Personality: Helsing is a man of few words but if he wants to speak, he'll makes sure everyone listens. Cold, ruthless and efficient, the man would seek out his targets and will bring them back dead or alive, mainly dead. He also has a habit of making clicking sounds though this comes of as horrific rather than annoying as the ones, that were spared from his wrath, could not get that sound out of their heads.

Bio: Helsing AKA Cid Kagenou wanted to find strong and challenging opponents however he didn't want to bring attention to himself if he went by his current identity. So, he cobbled up a disguise, making from some dirty rags his mother thrown out and a makeshift mask he used from stolen items he took from his father. And thus, Helsing was born.

When Helsing first entered the guild, many of the Adventuers mocked him for using his signature guns. Although this quickly dissipated when all of them were brutally taken down by the mysterious man. The exact details were unknown but several eyewitnesses confessed that the Adventurers were sent to the hospital for.....mental trauma.

Over the years, Helsing became both famous and infamous around the continent. To most kingdoms, he is a mercenary whose services are incredibly expensive. To the Cult of Diabolos, he is a massive wildcard for undermining many of their operations, including the murder several of their moles in Velgata. To Shadow Garden, both Epsilon and Beta, in particular, practiced their evasion and marksmanship in case they ever confronted this foe.

Nice to see some action in the thread, shouldn't it be Hellsing, and did he watch the anime, OVA or original, I guess it provides good inspiration for his shadowing.

Just a WMG about what if we go to the Velgata Kingdom.

Since we have Sigma and Iota being mentioned in the games, I made some ideas what their personalities be like.

Sigma: A Dog Therianthrope, member of Shadow Garden and Beta's lieutenant. Sigma has a keen mind and would snoop out any missing details that might helped in Shadow Garden's endeavors. Much like with any member of Shadow Garden and being the closest to Beta, Sigma has a fanatical adoration for her leader, Shadow. It's because of this that she's more than willing to follow Beta's order in spying on Alexia and report back any useful information to determine their master's taste in women. She's currently undercover as Alexia's maid.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Iota: An Elf and member of Shadow Garden. She loves the thrills and action hence why she is eager to participate in the most dangerous missions her organization has to offer. Iota is also a designated "driver" of the group, having tested many of Eta's experimental inventions, based on the Shadow Wisdom provided to her.

My own copy of the hardcover LN V1&V2 arrived, it's nice to feel it in my own hands. Totally different from digital.

What do you think would happen on vol 7 next? Kingdom Oriana war arc? Kingdom Midgar revolution arc? Elf Kingdom Revolt arc? Or Kingdom Belgata Intervetion arc?

It would be the Elf Kingdom/Akane Arc probably.

It would be interesting to see if we finally see the fruit of Sherry presumably badass training montage into mage-scholar to beat Shadow, getting a kind of Romeo and Julliet vibe.(Eta was reading one of her papers). And maybe Velgata getting smashed as well.

So far cid had 5 persona: Shadow, Mundane Mann, John Smith, Suzuki Hope(Detective), and fricking Jack The Ripper. So what another persona cid would deploy? If we keep on intervering on another country, maybe it's Revolution Leader/Mastermind?

In regards to this, in the WN, the Orianna Arc was considerably different in regards to 664, 665, and 666 actually being able to infiltrate, Cid saving that girl from the lawless city and Cid managing to speak with Auora's pinky finger after going to the tomb of the human hero.

On the Loyalist side, he leads the Black Rose as a buff instead of a curse, with Goldy and that other dude.

So for potential disguises/personas, there would be a downtrodden redshirt soldier and a hidden loyalist newbie.

After Cid comes to the realisation that he has never had a proper power-up sequence.

I wonder if we'll finally get the zombie arc, I mean we got a more badass Christine so that counts for something.

Well, that still can happen... just on different kingdom, or if you want it specifically on Orianna. Make it when war on Oriana or Uprising happening there.

Given that the Cult supports Velgata, there's bound to be something unsavoury going on over there, maybe he could try "Robin Hood" this time, he should practice his Archery anyway. In the Anime setting, it's more romantic/fantasy than a gun and Eta's bound to have come up with advancements in bow technology.

I want the scene where Cid empowers Oriana Kingdom with his John Smith strings like in the Web Novel and beat Velgata's ass
It's nice they incorporated all of the WN Orianna Arc as well in the second cour of Season Two(Episode 9) even if it's a montage, now we have a nice even ground between the somewhat lacking worldbuilding of the LN and the excessive detail/along with Rose's little sister in the WN.

Number 559 is slightly less yandere than in the LNs, didn't imagine her hair colour as pink, however. It's creepy seeing her mother with how much of a bitch she is, seriously you're not supposed to like your arranged marriage husband, but cheating on him with an active traitor who's compromised the entire country for centuries is not the correct course.

From what I gather, this is what happened
- The Pro-Perv and Anti-Perv Factions battled but it seemed the latter is losing given that they no longer controlling Fort First. Anyone being affiliated with the Anti-Perv Faction were detained and imprisoned in that correctional facility. The rest were about to be killed by the Cult of Diabolos.

- Then, Cid came along. He let himself get caught and started a mass breakout, freeing the prisoners, probably releasing any political rivals to Perv.
- After that, Cid joined a volunteer army made by the Anti-Perv Faction to bolster their forces. Cid once more did his thing and empowered the soldiers to wipe out many of the Cult forces. The three soldiers that harassed Maria were probably expecting reinforcements, not knowing they were defeated.

- So, with the Anti-Perv growing with influence and power, the public now deeming Perv incompetent to rule and much of the Mordred Faction dwindled to almost nothing, Perv commenced his marriage with Rose in hopes to pacify the masses.

but cheating on him with an active traitor

If she's anything like Rose, she didn't think enough.

If she's anything like Rose, she didn't think enough.
At least Rose inherited something from his father, whose only crime was trusting the wrong woman and trying to free his Kingdom of the Cult.

Episode 11 was good, but hopefully, we finish the fight in the next EP and move on to the Japan Arc Prologue, Cid was playing the theme music the whole time, no wonder Rose will be the first to have suspicions about his identity as Shadow.

I love how contrasting the situations both Rose and Perv went through.

Rose has friends and loved ones who willingly stand up for her. Perv has none and all his allies turned on him.

Assuming we'll get future content, I expect.

The Earth Arc to be a movie because this arc would mess with the later arcs.

It'll be around Midgar and we'll have a small cast of characters.

I'm just anticipating the glorious Cid-Beta trolling in motion, having V5-V6 as a single season would fit the usual pattern of a larger season and then a smaller season which repeats, which I've seen happen in multiple anime franchises for some reason.
