Cool! Question: Do we have blood? As a Mink i mean. Follow up question do minks have blood types?

The impression I get is that demons (and presumably angels) grow stronger as they become more defined. All demons seem to start with a Color but only relatively few have Shapes and those Shapes tend to be pretty rudimentary. We have a Color, Shape, Memory, and have recently gotten a Name so we are doing pretty well but have a long way to go before we become truly powerful.

If we could get our blood to be less abstract and more like actual blood that would almost certainly be a positive development despite it potentially opening up all manner of vulnerabilities. Picking up more names would also help us grow, as shown by Cherry believing that the US is powerful because it is both "the United States" and "America". However most of our growth in the near future is likely going to be from the accumulation of experiences, such as developing a favorite when it comes to ice cream flavors or a dislike for pickles.

  • [X] Enhance Grace Void's defensive capabilities and stall with illusions until the other magical girls arrive.
[x] Try and disorient the monsters with illusions to give Grace Void a chance to take them out.

Battle! Battle!
You convey by mental communication that you think the best approach will be to hold out until the others arrive. Grace Void nods in agreement and immediately you throw out illusions to confuse the foes while using the warm kindness inside you to strengthen Void's agility and toughness, causing her to glow slightly with a pink light. Unfortunately you can't do the same for yourself, but you aren't without your own resources.

Illusionary Voids are everywhere, and Void ducks amongst them, throwing out punches and kicks to keep the monsters' minions from overwhelming you both. You sneak amongst your own illusionary duplicates, throwing out the occasional void blast and keeping the boosts on Void going. Like that, the two of you work on slowly and cautiously whittling down the minions.

Then the monster begins playing louder and louder music until it suddenly bursts out in a thunderous musical blast, ripping apart all the Void illusions as well as some minions and slamming Void against the wall.

"Void!" You rush to heal Void and refresh the protections on her.

She stands up just in time to dodge the monster's spinning whirlpool punches. Thanks to your boosts, she nimbly leaps away from punch after punch. You quickly create illusionary duplicates of her and conceal a bench. Void leaps over the invisible bench, and immediately after the monster trips over it. This causes an opening for Void and you to toss void blasts at said monster, though both of you remain ready to defend yourself as you do so.

Then you leap out of the path of a minion's attempt to club you, kicking said minion hard as you do so. You blur the nearby minions' senses and Void leaps over to kick them away. Meantime, the monster rises back up on its feet and readies another musical blast. But this time the two of you are prepared for it and leap out of the way along with your duplicates.

The monster spits out a fresh wave of minions and begins spinning again while spitting out rapid-fire but weaker music blasts. This forces the two of you onto a defensive footing, but this is something you are both prepared for as you focus on lasting out the monster's attacks while picking off any minions that opportunity lets you.

Then the others arrive on the scene, beams of light and crushing balls of seawater ripping through the minions. Like that, the tide begins to turn as Grace Light and Grace Ocean throw themselves into the battle.

"It can blast you with music, create minions, and has a spinning attack!" you call out as warning to your comrades.

Ocean's furry spider, named Cuddles, entangle a group of minions in webs while Light's squirrel, Susanoo, darts like a maniac amongst them, tearing them up in a fury of eight legs and teeth. This relieves some of the pressure, allowing Light to leap in a yelling flying kick at the monster. Knocked over, the monster becomes an easy target for the beams of void, light, and water that slam into it.

Battered, the monster stands up, only for explosions of those three elements to rip through it. It along with the minions scatter into particles of magic, the emotions returning to the victims. And the disruption shatters, leaving you all standing among a crowd of confused, murmuring humans.

"Hey, look!" Someone points at Void.

Void takes that as a cue to do what she calls her trademark salute, three fingers sprayed with one of them pressed against her forehead. Lights flash from rectangles held by a few of the humans. "By the peaceful power of the void!" Void says and leaps away as you follow her.

She isn't the only one, the other magical girls doing their own salutes and catch phrases then leaping away with their familiars.

Pvu's tails flick as you all conclude the debriefing. "And what did we learn here, Void and Cherry?"

"Not to get so caught up in fighting other foes that we ignore another foe. And to watch out for potential signs of their attacks." You'd been reflecting on that during the debriefing.

"Yeah, that," Void says. "Don't get tunnel vision."

Pvu nods. "So you understand. With that the debriefing is concluded."

Official magical business concluded, all of the magical girls drop their transformations, reverting to their regular human selves. Jamie slumps over on the couch. "That attack hurt!"

"I'm glad you're okay," Divya says as she pets her spider familiar. Cuddles's a quiet one. You haven't managed to get them to respond to you with anything other than the occasional gesture of affirmation or disagreement. They have a more solid, physical feeling, much like the humans. Apparently they came from a physical realm of earth and rock.

Susanoo settles his tails as he perches on Hikaru's head. He's much more of a chatterbox, even now talking a mile a minute as Hikaru gives the occasional response. Susanoo has the same ethereal feeling as you and Pvu; apparently he comes from a spiritual realm full of storms.

You're curled up by Jamie on the couch, resting against her legs. "I'm looking forward to this pizza thing you speak of," you say to Susanoo who is singing the praise of the jalapeno pineapple and beef pizza he likes.

Susanoo perks up. "Let's order out right now!"

"No," Pvu says. "You all have to get back home."

"Aw, man! Cherry absolutely has to taste it!" Susanoo begins running around in frantic circles on Hikaru's head, making a mess of her hair.

Hikaru laughs and reaches up, removing Susanoo from her head and setting him on the floor. "Maybe we can do a party this weekend?"

"I suppose I can allow that." Pvu primly smooths out their own fur, licking it.

"Party! Party!" Susanoo's running around in a very rapid circle on the floor.

"I look forward to it," you say.

During the run-up to the party, who do you hang out with (besides Jamie)?

[] Pvu. So unlike you and yet alike in the ways that matter.
[] Divya. Quiet yet intense, she has her own passions.
[] Cuddles. Solid and dependable, you finally get them to say some words.
[] Hikaru. Quick to emotion, she enjoys battle and protecting people.
[] Susanoo. Full of frenetic energy, always ready to do something exciting.

Getting the perspective of an angel seems interesting; she's also the one coordinating the magical girls efforts, so info on the situation at large would be nice too.

Looks interesting so far. Especially liked the inclusion of informed consent in the summoning, the way potential summons and summoners sorta metaphysically brush against each other to see if they're compatible was a nice tidbit.

Interested to see the perspective of another ethereal being, Pvu's interesting too but we seem to live with them and so even ignoring the screentime they've already had I expect we see them quite a lot. Also Susanoo's a peer in a similar situation which makes me want to know more about them.

This isn't the way all summoning works, but it is the way summoning done by moral people works.
