Ealing offers a wide range of sports, so it is a powerful option for pretty much any sport we'd want to go for, but most specifically it is within the catchment area of several big-name football (soccer) clubs, which is where I am wanting to aim for. Getting picked up by the youth development programs of one of those clubs would be a godsend towards ascending to football stardom, and I fully aim to head there as quickly as possible. Other benefits include it being the capital of the UK, so a central economic hub anyway, and it seems like it will have the most stable home situation of all of the options - always a boon to a developing child.

Sprinting, Stamina, and Kicking are the three skills on that list that are directly relevant to the majority of football play (catching and throwing both have roles for a Goalkeeper, but not for outfield players). They are also cross-usable, in case we do have to go for something like rugby instead.

Ambidextrous is mainly to open up options. Being able to smoothly play with either foot would be a massive boon for adaptability.

The name I'm not particularly married to, and I am open to alternate names. Just figured this was a pretty fair "english" name.

[X] Plan Lucky Lion

-E) You are born in Kingston upon Hull, East Yorkshire. You are working class, with your father working in the docks and your mother working as a secretary, and your entire family, like most of the city are massive rugby league fans. Hull Kingston Rovers and Hull FC the only professional teams to share a city, so they are very fierce rivals, with most of your family attending Rovers matches. The struggling Hull City football team is also supported, but they have been much less successful than the two rugby sides. Athletics is also strong in the city. Soon, an ice hockey team will be added as ice hockey fever grips the country in the 80s and 90s.

-D) Swimming

-G) Kicking

Hmm...I'm not really fond of non-combat oriented sports and I like Spring King's idea for his plan!

-[X] Ealing, West London
-[X] Choose three skills

-[X] What hand/foot do you use?

I don't really know if my plan is acceptable, so QM should check up on it to tell me if I need to change anything. Also, the N/A choices I put there is because I do not know what to put in them.

P.S.
Thanks for the update and keep up the good work!

Edit 1: Alright! I have deleted the second part of my plan!

The first part is fine but you don't need the second part. The character's profile is something I'll fill out as we go along. Maybe leaving it blank was a bit confusing.

One: Early Childhood
Chapter One
Early Childhood

You are Tommy Smith, a 7 year old Londoner from Ealing. Many of your friends are starting to join sports clubs, and you want to as well, encouraged by your family, but especially by your dad.

England are at different stages in different sports - being good at Football, Boxing and Rugby, average at Cricket and dire at cycling and tennis. Hopefully you can make it big and turn those fortunes around.

  1. Pick three (two ball, one individual) sports or two ball sports
    1. Football - The dominant sport in London, the UK and the World, football clubs are everywhere. Your local club is Hanwell Town, a sunday league team with an active youth section. Nearby are two clubs in the Football League - your beloved Queens Park Rangers and their fierce rivals, Brentford, who may sign you for their academy if you are any good.
  1. Rugby Union - The second, third or fourth biggest sport in the country depending on who you ask, many of the most historic and famous English clubs like Saracens, Harlequins, Wasps, London Irish and London Welsh are located in the city. Your local youth team is Northolt RFC, who have a senior XV in a local league.
  1. Cricket - The second biggest sport in the world and possibly the second biggest in the country (or in the Home Counties and South Coast at least), and luckily the best club in the city is right on your doorstep. Ealing CC is widely recognised as the best club in the city, and you can join the Under-8s eventually rising to the first XI or maybe even Middlesex CCC.
  1. Tennis - Most tennis players start before they are five, but there is still plenty of time. You could join a local tennis club, learn to play and, if you are good, attend tournaments all around Europe, possibly even becoming a professional.
  1. Swimming - You know how to swim, but you could take it a step further. If you join Ealing SC, you will compete at swim meets around London and then throughout the nations, ultimately aiming for Commonwealth Games and Olympic qualification in your late teens.
  1. Cycling - You can cycle, but you could take it a step further. Joining a cycling club would allow you to hone your skills and eventually compete. You could focus on either road cycling, with the aim of competing in prestigious races like the Tour de France, Vuelta y España or the Tour de Yorkshire, or track cycling, where you would race in Velodromes and hope to make the Olympics.
  1. Boxing - Such a controversial sport, but such a popular one. Britain is currently having a bit of a golden generation, especially in the middleweight division, with Nigel "The Dark Destroyer" Benn, Chris Eubank, Lennox Lewis and Frank Bruno all in the prime of their careers. Boxers are some of the best paid and most famous athletes in the world, so you could become known across the world.
  1. Karate - A sport on the rise due to martial arts films, Karate is a Japanese martial art focusing on striking (punching and kicking), and Britain is one of the major powers. Less dangerous than Boxing, you will learn to defend yourself and could even make it to the Olympics.

  1. What is your main non-sporting interest?
  1. Reading
  2. Music
  3. Drama
  4. Films

  1. What is your personality and general demeanour?
  1. You are hardworking, honest and have a never say die attitude. However, you aren't the most eloquent and have little non-sporting hobbies. Comparison: Steven Gerrard.
  1. You want to be the star so you are flashy and an attention seeker. You like to show off your skill and don't like to give the ball away, but you are popular and charming. Comparison: Gavin Henson.
  1. You are intelligent, intense and have high concentration, completely dedicated to sport. You are also vocal and opinionated, with said opinions attracting people's interest for good or bad reasons. Comparison: Geoffrey Boycott.
  1. You are sociable and well-mannered, also being noted for your kindness. You never raise your voice and always show great sportsmanship, but some people think they can walk over you because of this. Comparison: Frank Bruno.

If you are planning on going the football route, it is worth noting that Zlatan did Taekwondo which is why he can kick the ball so well.

Football is the obvious first choice. For the second sport, I'm choosing tennis. It's a ball sport, right?

I'm choosing films over reading as being a lover of films will make us more fun to be around. We can make references to our favourite films and attempt to do impressions of our favourite characters. It's a social thing as well. We can get the lads around for a film night and meet the stars if we attend a film premiere.

Steven Gerrard is everything you want in a football personality. He projects confidence, even if he's feeling nervous. He's very competitive, but he's not a show-off. He'll get the team involved and is always talking to his teammates. He's a natural leader. People respond to him because he leads by example. He's loyal. He's humble.

I think our background and these choices all play really nicely off of each other.

Two: Development
Chapter Two -
Development

You are Tommy Smith, aged 12 and a promising young footballer and tennis player. Living in Ealing, West London, you play for the U13s of the local side, Hanwell Town, as well as London Schoolboys, and you train at several tennis centres around London.

As you develop physically, you will need to put more and more dedication into your sports and eventually give one up. But first, you must decide what speciality you will take in each sport.

  1. Your coaches at Hanwell Town U12s have tried you out at several positions and recommend a few based on your speed and skill. What one do you choose (this can change over time)?

  1. Full Back - Primarily a defensive position, full backs are charged with marking the opposing wingers and supporting their own wingers in either attack or defence. Some full backs are more attacking minded, liking to push up the pitch and send crosses into the box. You have the skill and speed to be more attacking if you wish. As you are either footed, you can be either a left or right back.

  1. Winger - The winger's main role is to receive the ball, carry it forwards by dribbling and then cross it into the box for the striker to head. Speed and skill are important, and wingers often take corners too. As you are either footed, you can be either a left or right winger.

  1. Central Midfielder - The most technical position on the pitch, midfielders need to be able to do it all. Their skillset must contain passing, tackling, stamina, speed, crossing, shooting and communication.

  1. The two local teams - QPR and Brentford have been scouting you and want to sign you for their Academy. Which club do you join?

  1. Queens Park Rangers - The closest club to you, QPR have been historically and currently more successful than their West London rivals. Your boyhood team, the side that plays in Loftus Road can boast legends such as Rodney Marsh and Les Ferdinand. Currently participating in the inaugural Premier League season they will finish 5th. This may mean it will be harder to break into their first team than Brentford's team further down the line.

  1. Brentford - Another local side, they have recently been promoting back to the second tier of English football for the first time since 1954. With Wimbledon buying their star striker, it is far from guaranteed they will stay there but it will be easier to break into their first team down the line.

  1. Your tennis coaches have recognised that you can move across the court quickly and that you have some very skillful shots in your arsenal. They want to have you primarily train on either a hard court or a grass court to improve your power. Which one do you choose?

  1. Hard Court - Currently used in the Australian and US Opens, Hard Courts are made of concrete with an acrylic playing surface. Balls bounce high on the surface as there is very little energy absorption, meaning players can apply lots of different types of spin to the ball.

  1. Grass Court - Currently used in the Wimbledon Championships, Grass Courts are slippery which means the balls doesn't bounce very high. Grass courts favour a style of play that relies on serving and volleying.

  1. Your football coaches want you to improve your strength and durability while your tennis coaches want you to improve your intelligence and patience. Which skills do you improve?

  1. Strength and Durability
  2. Intelligence and Patience

  1. You are beginning to notice that you start to like people in a certain way (or not). What is your sexuality?

  1. Heterosexual
  2. Gay
  3. Bisexual
  4. Asexual

  1. What is your favourite film genre?

  1. Action
  2. Sci Fi
  3. Horror
  4. Romance
  5. Comedy
  6. Drama

We've so far created Tommy as a Steven Gerrard-esque player. May as well give him some of that loyalty by picking QPR and Grass Court.

Picking Winger with Intelligence and Patience means that we don't hurt ourselves too much in either sport.

I picked Bisexual just because it might lead to more interesting story lines. And Drama so he can be pulling out quotes from Classic Movies.
