The Architect of Anarchy: A Cyberpunk Crafting Quest

It makes me suspect that had he gained the same amount of power and authority as the corpo elites, that he would have become just as bad if not worse than them.
I would actually say that he woudl be better. if only in the simple fact that he will try to make things better for people and fail, rather then just keep things the same.

He will fail because he's not with a group of people who want change, he would be leading angry and apathetic people who don't have the capacity or the drive to see that change is coming.

They have no hope, and that would kill Johnny more than any Arasaka Bullet could.

Because for all of Johnnys loud and brash behavior... and with how drugged out he is normally, he's an idealist at heart. He has hope. Even if he's full of himself thinking he alone can change the world, when he dosen't see that his friends have been helping him for all this time.

(thats just what I think given the source books and my own reading of both Jonnys questline there and in-game)
In my opinion it is not just Senji. He alone will not be able to bring long-lasting positive change to Night City or beyond.
If the people want to be free, to have a chance of a better life for themselves and their families, they will have to do it themselves.
To be inspired to do that, they will need a vision. Something to hope for, enough that they are willing to die for it.
I can tell you this much.

Night City is the only place on Earth where it can happen.

And that is all I will say because everywhere else, even so called Free Europe... is an authoritarian hellscape that pretends to be free, when its not.

Night City, can potentially be the place where the greatest inventors of the world can congregate... and where Mankind can begin to take the heavens for themselves.

I wonder what Senji would think of a certain Corsican, if he were to learn about him. But I suspect that the corpos may have censored and banned as many texts about the Revolution and the Napoleonic era as they could. Don't want the common people getting ideas.
He does know of Napoleon, the Idea, the Emperor, the thing that destroyed the French Republic and formed his own empire for his own thing.

Thats all Arasaka knows. THe problem is, that is only half the story. He rose from his humble corsican beginnings to be... as many would say, an ideal republican... even an englightened autocrat...

but he is no washington.
I'm wondering if there are already lousy Chinese knockoffs of Senji's weapons.
No one has seen enough of our weapons to make knock offs yet.

Even the Chinese can't work that fast when they don't have any design specs or pictures to work on.
What does Arasaka Saburo even believe in anyway? What sort of world does he wish to build?
Well Saburo wants to to destroy america as a concept and replace it with his idealized dream of a Japanese empire that rules the world.

Or at the very least the Western Hemisphere.

See if Arasaka successeds we will have bigger things to worry about then the potential of a corperation ruling America.

Arasaka wants to destroy concepts... and that is something that Bartmoses datakrash will help him signifigantly in that regard.

Because when all knowladge is destroyed.... what is history, but what is controlled information.

And what is hope, when there is no example from the past to follow?
In the same vein as many famous Japanese legends, he should give himself a name.
Eh... eventually.
Imagining this entire conversation in Japanese is great. Senji speaking Japanese is adorable.
They do speak japanese. and english.
So why is it being run so incompetently?
Because the former headmaster is grifting money and trying to prepare to bug out.
I wonder if Japan in this cyberpunk world still makes anime and manga. Or does the Arasaka regime control that too?
They do... and alot of it is good. The Problem. Arasaka does not believe in the freedom of expression that isnt pushing japanese supremacy, so all the good ones are banned from export.

It's really fucking bad.
Someone is benefiting from his actions, but it sure as hell isn't the people. When was the last time that Saburo walked the streets of his cities, actually spoke to the people? Or did he think himself so far above them that he does not need to speak to them?
Saburo also hates America... so... I think that he would rather drop an atomic... and kill millions then walk the same streets as the filthy westerns who destroyed his country.
Senji does not want power for its own sake, and he does not wish to gather to him mindless minions who'd blindly follow his every order. He wants friends and companions, despite initially gathering people to him for the sake of survival and rebellion against the system he despises.
He's really a hero.
Senji's found a few students who has managed to bring to his cause. But again, it's not just him; Malcolm and Stella are special in their own way. And that makes me sad, because they should not be special or unique in that vein.
though in Malcolms case... his story is really interesting.

I will enjoy seeing and writing mroe of it.
I say again: there are going to be people who will never, ever accept or trust Senji no matter what he says or does, because of his background. Let's face it; he does not know what it is truly like to suffer in the streets as a destitute and desperate person. He's lived much of his life being financially supported by his parents, even now. And he stands to inherit an enormous amount of money and resources two years from the current point of this Quest. Something that the vast majority of people in Night City could only ever dream of.
Yep.
Senji succeeded in this, to an incredible degree. His charisma is amazing. And I say yet again; he is only sixteen. Imagine what he would be in three or four years.
All I will say is that he willeither be dead, or doing great things.

Nothing more nothing less. He won't allow himself to be anything else.
Napoleon was 24 years old when he participated in the Siege of Toulon in 1793.
Yeah, and guess what, Laffyette was only 19 when he joined Washingtons army.
Indeed it is. Some of the greatest changes to all of humanity happened in small workshops.
Now you know why hobbyiests and low level engineers are so feared by big corperations.

They can't control of profit from one persons dream.

And Give Arasaka a Panic Attack, yes.
I have some ideas of what to decorate the weapon with.
  1. The radiation symbol, naturally.
  2. The name "White Sands" with the date of July 16th, 1945 under it. This is when the Trinity Test happened.
  3. The name of Nagato in kanji. It was a Japanese super battleship used in the post-war nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll.
EDIT: Wait, no. I just thought of something else. An image of an Imperial Japanese flag on fire.

The Second Workshop Stats:
Production Capacity: 3 (With the equipment your father left there, you are sure yo make more than what you need) (You can only make a maximum of 50 weapons and 20 armor per workshop action)
Tech Level: 1 (You have literally nothing in your warehouse. You need to buy tools) (Gain a +0 to quality rolls on finished products)
Energy Efficiency: 2 (You are connected to the city's powergrid, and that will last forever. provided rent is paid) (Suffer no roll maluses during workshop actions)
Security: 1 (A Stiff breeze could walk over this place) (All Enemies suffer a 0 to their attack rolls. But any defenders suffer a -2 to their rolls. If it gets into the negatives, all the defenders die.)

Godzilla destroying Tokyo?

So much for the hope that it's secure.

We could just move our tools but honestly it's better to just buy new ones. We're a rich Corp kid we have to use our advantages (and make gunsmiths from poor backgrounds grit their teeth in anger and jealousy lol).

Security: 1 (A Stiff breeze could walk over this place) (All Enemies suffer a 0 to their attack rolls. But any defenders suffer a -2 to their rolls. If it gets into the negatives, all the defenders die.)
We'll really need to focus on increasing security because even now random gangsters would love to invade for no reason and after our fame increases? Then things get dangerous.

We also need to ask Stella for help in the future because Senji's ICE is still weak as hell and we don't want future random netrunners stealing the blueprints and specifications of our weapons.

Godzilla destroying Tokyo?

I was focusing on thumbing our nose at Arasaka via real historical imagery. Though maybe Godzilla could be what's setting the Imperial Japanese flag alight.

Even if we can't make a backup of the entire net we can backup data regarding American history and culture. So that the combination of Arasaka's overbearing narcissistic ultranationalism and Bartmoss's incompetence can't erase it from existence. So that Saburo's narrative cannot take root.

And if we ever get the chance to encounter the bitter old neo-fascist we can retort about how the Japanese "threw the first punch". Or make a joke about how the Japanese shouldn't have touched the boats.

Turn 8 New
Turn 8:

Kenji was sleeping soundly, his chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm, but you couldn't tear your eyes away from him.

A sharp, gnawing guilt twisted in your stomach.

You should have made him armor.

You had spent so much time building weapons—machines designed to destroy—but never once had you stopped to think about protecting the people who actually mattered.

If he had armor, he wouldn't be lying there, bandaged and broken.
If he had armor, he wouldn't have taken those shots.
If he had armor, he wouldn't have—

Your fingers clenched into fists.

You stupid, stupid idiot.

This was on you.

You weren't smart enough. Weren't prepared enough. If you had been, Kenji wouldn't be in this situation. You had all the tech, all the resources, and yet you had let this happen.

The thought burned inside you, eating away at your resolve.

"Senji."

His voice, weak but unmistakable, cut through your spiral.

Your head snapped toward him. His eyes were barely open, heavy with exhaustion, but he was awake.

"Kenji," you breathed, leaning closer.

"Get some rest," you urged, whispering as if anything louder might break him apart.

But Kenji just let out a quiet, breathy chuckle. "You think I don't know that look?"

Your jaw tightened, but before you could deny it, he spoke again.

"It's not your fault," he said, voice hoarse but steady. "Don't you dare think this is your fault."

You looked away.

"It is," you muttered. "If I—"

"Enough."

Kenji's tone was firm, even in his weakened state. His fingers twitched slightly, as if trying to reach for you but lacking the strength.

"These things happen," he continued. "You can't change that." He inhaled shakily, then exhaled. "The only thing you can do now… is make sure it doesn't happen again."

The words hit you harder than any bullet ever could.

You swallowed, nodding slowly.

"Yeah," you said at last. "Yeah… I will."

Kenji gave a small, tired smile before closing his eyes again.

And you sat there, watching over him, already thinking of blueprints.

Missions: Night City is a busy place, and people want to see things done.

Below the mission choice, please line tail who you wish to send. Please note, that if you go on the mission you will have a small adventure.

[]Power Struggle (Fixer: Sarah the Building Super)
Type: Repair/Sabotage
Objective: Restore the power grid before a corpo buyout.
Details: A corpo-owned subsidiary is trying to force out the old Techie running your building's grid. If the power stays off long enough, residents will be forced to accept their overpriced "upgrades." The Techie needs an extra set of hands to get the place back online before the corpo enforcers arrive.

[]Karaoke Night (Fixer: Yakuza)
Type: Courier/Stealth
Objective: Deliver a sealed briefcase to a karaoke club.
Details: A Yakuza boss who spared Kenji needs a simple favor—take a locked briefcase to a club. No questions asked. But with corporate spies and street gangs watching, a simple delivery might turn into something much bigger.

[]The Gun Runner's Discount (Fixer: Malcolm)
Type: Acquisition
Objective: Secure a rare revolver from a high-end arms dealer.
Details: Malcolm wants a specific piece: an old-tech, single-action revolver built for stopping cyberware in its tracks. The problem? It's being auctioned off in a high-security arms market, and Malcolm is banned from entering.

[]Ghosts of the Grid (Fixer: Rogue)
Type: Retrieval
Objective: Recover a black-market cyberdeck from a ruined datacenter.
Details: Rogue wants a cyberdeck hidden in an abandoned server farm. Problem? The last crew that went in didn't come out. People say the place is haunted, but Rogue believes it's just rogue ICE or something worse.

[]Senji's Gamble (Fixer: Stella)
Type: Social Engineering
Objective: Fake your way into a corporate auction and win a cyberware prototype.
Details: Stella needs someone to pose as a corpo executive and secure a rare augmentation at a high-stakes auction. Problem? You're up against actual corpos who will definitely notice if something is off.

AN: Enjoy and vote in plan format please.

@Magoose

The bit where we get the warehouse made me think that we had gained a workshop action, and thus we should have two. I'll use one to upgrade the new warehouse, thus bringing us back to one action.

Also there's no mission closer to home than Arasaka trying to screw with our actual apartment building.
