The Architect of Anarchy: A Cyberpunk Crafting Quest

So I'm taking feed back…

I'm adding an action to create technology. Because fuck it give the people what they want.

Also… building things in a cave with a box of scraps… yeah that can work.

Can take over the cave Murk Man used in 2070s
Not yet.

At least somewhat.

The badlands are too dangerous and you have other stuff.

Hope she doesn't mind being used too. Alt wants to burn it all down and get her revolution. When Senji uses her to build himself a fortress and leaves her with what she wants and not what is needed for what comes after, thats perfectly just of him. After all, even the heroes are assholes.
Oh she won't mind. After all… maybe being around us will make her more heroic.

Please no tech beyond weapons and armor. Because from what I see players tend to be way too obsessed with tech to the point that they just want it just because. One of the things I find interesting about quests where the PC starts off with a unique gift is because it makes them unique precisely for that. Example being that Rache Bartmoss is unique in that he was the best netrunner, not the generic guy that is good at everything like the hundreds of similar cases you see in plenty of sci fi stories.

From how I see it there is no absolutely no point in going beyond making weapons and armor since that just removes what made Senji unique. If we do get access to other tech feels like that should be due to getting it from other people who actually specialize in said tech.

@Magoose could we make something like a needle to physically stab into something or someone and thus bypass their ICE defenses?

I don't know how hacking works in cyberpunk really, that's why I'm asking.

If alt want her tech, we need a lab. If she can't make one herself, get Johnny to steal one.

As for feedback, people do want tech, but it shouldn't cut into Senji's passions. No workshop actions to build it masterwork style except for something really special to unlock some awesome adventure. Alt will have to settle for better than what the corps have but mediocre by Senji's standard tech, created with Safe actions rather than workshop ones.

Speak for yourself, our guy is to the techie class what Bartmoss is to the net runner class. Maybe provide a bonus/enhanced learning curve for weapons and armor as our speciality but don't write off everything else.

What I meant is that there is an action to build stuff and try to create it.

And it always leads back to weapons and armor because I have veto for what you can and cannot create.

It's more for weapon modifications and armor mods of special projects.

.... Uuuh I would just like to point out that hacking devices are not ...... Well exactly something an engineer can just build. It needs programming .. which is not our wheelhouse.

Now we can build the physical implement and maybe a locking mechanism but the programs inside and the tech to actually hack that is going to need to come from somewhere.

Feel like tech should be limited to engineering stuff like an advanced crank or maybe .... Hmmm ... Can we tune up vehicles?

Yes you can modify cars but they are a special project

On the one hand I want to stick to designing firearms. On the other hand I want to design the ultimate set of power armour. Part X-01, part Mjolnir, part Iron Man. I just like Fallout 4's tank-on-legs style. Give it some agility and it'd be beastly.

And if we ever go into designing a car I'd build a personal ride that's basically a Rolls Royce but armored up enough to rival the presidential limo.

This is why I suggested us needing to work with other people to create certain tech. For example while Senji can make a physical implement to create the hacking device we would need to work with a high tier net runner. Which would encourage players to get out there to find and connect to other characters.

I actually think that power armor is perfectly fine to be in our wheel house. After all, they are pretty much the ultimate combination of weapons and armor put in a high tech package.

The revolution that Alt and Co. Will fail If there is no plan after the discretion of the megacorps. Distoring corps is good but what after then? The power vacuum will lead to people seeking to become the new order.

The problem in Cyberpunk is that everyone is thinking in a selfish zero-sum game even the heroes.

Asking for schematics of other weapon discerners (Antonio Luccessi). Resources, tools and a safe place to tinker.

Of making new tech and weapons. Is the bolt gun possible or not?

Well it would certinaly be interesting if someone with a plan, resources and ideas... were to show up... and offer solutions beyond idealism

But that hasn't happened just yet. :V

no.

Turn 5 New
Turn 5:

You stared at the keys in your hand, their cold metal pressing into your palm, but your gaze drifted toward Kenji instead. His expression was unreadable at first—calm, composed. But the longer you looked, the more you saw it.

The fear.

Not the usual kind, not the kind that came with firefights or corpo hits. No, this was something deeper. Something that settled in the bones and refused to leave.

Kenji swallowed hard, his fingers twitching as he handed you the shard. "You need to see this."

You took it, slotting it in. The message was short. Too short.

"I am coming."

It was from your father.

Silence stretched between you both, heavy, suffocating. A confirmation of the one thing neither of you had wanted to admit, the one possibility you had prayed would never come to pass.

He was coming.

Not to talk. Not to negotiate. To end this. To finish what he had started.

You felt something in your chest tighten, cold and sharp like a blade sliding between your ribs. Kenji turned to you, his face pale, lips pressed into a thin line.

"What do we do?" you asked, your voice quieter than you meant it to be.

Kenji let out a slow, measured sigh. He didn't have to say it. You already knew.

"I don't know," he admitted.

AN: Enjoy and vote in plan format please.

Reasoning I have for each of the actions, in order:
We are going to rely on our work, which means we cannot piss off the City right now.
Smokescreen our true intentions
Bind our future powerbase to us when we do leave
Keep a connection on the inside who will likely be a Player in the Social Scene
Keep a connection on the inside who will likely be a Player in the Security Scene
Try and secure an exit strategy
Prevent Arasaka from immediately capturing us once we leave
Maintain a smokescreen
Prepare for a firefight that will disable anything that may be brought to bear by the enemy

We get six safe actions plus the workshop action.

I want my Cyberpunk Tommy Gun, dammit!

The plan name is based on "Chicago Typewriter", the classic nickname for the Thompson.
