    The update will likely be tomorrow, maybe today if I get more energy. I'm going to try to do updates every day or two until we get things more solidly up and running, although that schedule may slip.

    Inquisitive little beach slime! Oh man I'm so excited!

    I can already see him poking around in tide pools and befriending crabs

    The first sensation you feel is warmth. Something is coming from above, something gentle and warm. You are happy to feel it on you, so happy that, were you never to feel another sensation, you would still be at peace.

    Yet other sensations do come. The first comes from below, hard, firm, unyielding. The next comes from your sides, cool and lined with tiny droplets of something wet, like you. Next comes the sound. A crashing noise, over and over, its endless rhythm putting you at peace.

    The last sensation to come is sight. You're not sure what to make of it at first. It lacks both the immediate comfort of touch and the relaxation you receive from sound. But it is useful, allowing you to perceive a thing whether it is near or far, whether it chooses to make a noise or to remain quiet.

    With your new senses, you take in your surroundings. The world you're in is wonderful. There is the hard thing beneath you and the gritty thing to one side and the wet thing to the other side and the warm bright thing above, and so, so much more. You're so excited to experience all of it, you want to race every direction at once. You're vibrating with excitement, ready to leap into this adventure. Then your vibrating slows. Yes, the world around you is exciting. Yes, you want to explore. But you're never going to learn anything about the world around you if you charge straight towards whatever seems most exciting at the moment. And you realize you do want to learn, to come to understand the reality you have just become a part of.

    You start over, more slowly this time. Above you is the sky, vast and blue, with white puffy clouds just fading away into the distance. There is a yellow glowing sun that must have been the source of the warmth you felt earlier. Unfortunately, you can't work out any way to move towards it, given that you are anchored to the ground. You stretch upward, but you can't get to much more than twice your own height. You wish you could reach the sun to touch it and share its warmth. At the very least, you can thank it for all it has done for you. "Thank you, sun!"

    The hard thing underneath you is rock, and it can be found in abundance here. Off to one side you see a vast expanse of water. It is not content to sit still, but sends itself surging towards you, although it cannot quite reach the rock you rest on. Its endless surging seems to be the source of the crashing sound. To the other side you see a vast expanse of sand. You can draw the sand into yourself, but it doesn't taste very good, so you spit it out. Turning your attention back to the beach, you see that some of the sand is darker than the rest, and, upon touching it, you realize it is wet. The water must somehow extend further at times, though you cannot reckon how. Maybe it has exhausted itself and that is why it cannot throw itself as far now? You hope it feels better soon. Off in the distance, beyond the sand you see massive cliffs of stone. In another area, you see rocks that are half covered by water, which you guess would be fully covered when the waves reach their farthest.

    Time to pick a direction to explore… wait, what's that sensation? You feel curiously empty. You examine the sensation further. You have an urge to… consume something? Something alive, not like the rock or sand. What a strange feeling! But it feels important, as if something very bad will happen if you don't. Alright then. You'll have to add that to your exploration trip.

    You once again prepare to set out. Then…

    Congratulations on coming into existence! You are a Slime (level 1)*. As you grow, your level will increase, allowing you to gain new skills and increase your capabilities. You will be awarded increases in level and other boons as a reward for completing tasks.     You are... not at all sure what to make of that. Who is this "System" that sent you a message? How did it contact you? Where is it? What is it? Can you make friends with it? You have so many questions.

    You try to send a message back to it using whatever method it used to reach you. "Hi! Who are you? Do you want to be friends?" You hear nothing in reply. You droop a little. Then you run back over what it said. Those "skills" and "levels" and "boons" it mentioned sound really cool, even if the message was sparse on details. This "System" must like you some if it's going to give you rewards! Maybe you can make friends later. The thought makes you happier, and you perk up.

    In any case, it is now definitely time to set out... You pause, waiting for yet another interruption. None comes. You can actually leave now. Off to find adventure and tasty food! But you can't go everywhere at once. You're going to have to pick areas to explore.

    Which areas would you like to explore? Choose two.

    [] The tide pools.

    You see some rocks covered in water a little distance away. There appear to be all sorts of living things covering them. Perhaps you make one of those living things into a friend, or failing that, a meal.

    [] The beach.

    The beach has an abundance of seaweed. A lot of it looks dried out and unappetizing, but maybe you can find some that's still tasty.

    [] The cliff face.

    The cliff has a variety of plants on it, and you can see some birds eating them. You don't think you could get all the way up to the top, but there are some flat places lower down you might be able to reach. As a bonus, you could figure out how hard the cliff is to climb.

    [] A cave in the cliff.

    A crack in the cliff face appears to lead deeper in. You're not sure what you'll find inside, but if it has not already been claimed by another creature, it could act as a defensible home.
