Have the police escort Hana and Youko back to Hakurei Shrine, then go deal with Hatate.
You scowl at the ceiling for a moment, then turn back to Youko. "Can you walk, or do you need assistance?"
"Peh! I'm old, not incapable," she grouches as she swings her legs off the bed and carefully starts to stand. Hana hops off and scurries next to her grandmother to help get her feet in the fuzzy slippers next to the bed. "I hope you are not planning on counting us as part of your criminal behavior!" You turn up the brightness on your smile.
"Actually, I was going to have the police take you back to the shrine," you say, and Youko stiffens, glaring at you. "The children need a teacher, and if other youkai do want to visit this world for a taste of a familiar culture, it would be better for a talented priestess to actually be at a shrine instead of sinking into her pity in a hospital." Hana, frightened again by the tension between you and her grandmother, stays hunched over for a moment before Youko looks away and carefully reaches down to touch her shoulder.
"There, there, Hana, it is alright. And … if Aoi can sense things as well, I should be there to help her. Your brother – well, if he has changed his mind, I will teach him, but I suspect he will continue to reject his calling." Hana stands up and gives Youko a hug, and you lead the way to the stairs.
"Um, Miss Aya? Can we take the elevator?" You look back as Hana points at a solid door across from the staircase. Oh, right, if Youko is having trouble walking, then an easier method of travel might be better.
"Do you know what an elevator is, Aya?" Your answering smile is in no way malicious.
"It's a device for transporting cargo vertically, as I understand it. But Hana has a point, since the next best way to get you downstairs would be for me to carry you." You withdraw your wings, just to stave off any more objections, and smile at Youko's grimace. Hana decides to ignore the exchange and presses a button next to the elevator. You look down the hall, wondering if the other patients are staying here of their own will, or if their families wouldn't – or couldn't – take them in. How many people are even in this building, anyway? The door to the elevator opens, and the three of you step in. Hana presses another button to take you down, and when the doors open you see a uniformed young man waiting by the stairs. He smiles as you start to walk out.
"Ah, thank you! It is a shame that you damaged public property during a crisis like this, but I am gla~...." His jaw hangs open mid-word as you flourish your wings, and he stumbles back against the steps when you wink at him, eyes wide. You turn toward the entrance, and another officer walks forward cautiously, sidearm held in trembling hands. His eyes widen when he sees you and he freezes.
"Hello! It's a wonderful evening, don't you think? These nice ladies are priestesses at the Hakurei Shrine. Take them to their home." You gesture to the door as Youko and Hana shuffle to your side. You clear your throat and the young man awkwardly holsters his weapon before hurrying over to Youko's side.
"Ah, M-Miss Priestess, p-please allow me to assist you!" You walk ahead to the flying machine, its thin wings motionless for the moment. The pilots stare at you as you walk up to the door.
"Good evening! You are going to take the people who come out to the Hakurei Shrine." The one closer to you just keeps staring, but the one on the right nods and takes the large pads off his head.
"Of course, Miss Tengu. May I get permission from my superior?" You make a show of thinking it over, then nod.
"Of course you may tell your superior that you will be making a detour, I understand." You continue smiling as the pilot nods jerkily before replacing his headgear. You're distracted from his half of the conversation – most of which appears to be spent informing his superior that he's receiving instructions from a tengu – by the arrival of the priestesses and Hana's delighted squealing. Perhaps she's taken a liking to flight.
"Are you coming with us, Aya?" You shake your head at Youko's question, and Hana pouts.
"I need to go talk with Hatate, actually. I don't suppose you know where my companion is, Officer?" The second officer, clearly awed by your presence, nods and politely informs you that she's currently in the Koenji shopping district in Suginami, which Hana helpfully tells you is north of here. You thank them, then turn to the pilots, who bow and apologize for the wait. You give them a polite bow in response, then float into the air above them and start heading for Hatate. You find what is certainly a shopping district fairly easily, and as you land on one of the signs you notice people noticing you. It's a bit higher profile than you'd prefer for an investigation … but then, Hatate really doesn't seem to get some things, and if she's actually willingly going into groups of people, then it's definitely a step up from not wanting to go anywhere near a moderately large concentration of humans. You close your eyes and draw the wind toward you, quickly but gently, and listen. So many useless subjects – people on dates, people talking about the invasion, people complaining about prices or certain things not being here – but there are threads you want. People talking about the tengu, people questioning whether or not she's a 'cosplayer,' people talking about where she is. You step forward and drop to the ground floor, slowing for the last meter so you don't cause too much fuss, and walk calmly through the crowd of people; some of them are in shock, others still recovering from what they thought was a suicide, and others still seem excited to see you. You're not sure if you like the looks you're getting, though; hardly anyone seems to fear you, which really was the default response when a tengu showed up. Sure, in Gensokyo you're just 'that reporter,' but the few times you've been to the Village without disguising yourself, people were properly deferential. Here, you're just a novelty – something to spark up the conversation, or to tell their friends and family when they get home.
You walk through the market, past stores with questionable tastes in clothing, stores that have cutesy youkai-like toys, stores that sell music, until you reach the end of the market. Here are stores that sell used goods, or claim to sell antiques, and the crowd opens up to let you pass to your destination. Hatate is at the counter with a somewhat nervous proprietor, studying a mask. You look at the walls, and the masks hanging on them: some are new, and have faces you don't recognize, but others are older, and others are new but sport older styles. "A-Ah, good evening, Miss Tengu! Please, make yourself welcome!" You smile at the proprietor, and smile even more widely at Hatate as she turns to face you.
"Aya! Um, I was just looking around, and – they have amazing cameras, Aya! Here, let me show you!" She darts around you to her bag and sets it on another counter. You glance at the mask Hatate was looking at – almost certainly a later copy of an earlier mask – and turn, getting a glimpse of her spoils. Two unfamiliar devices with sticks and buttons, two books, a flute, that looks like candy, and then she shows you a camera like Aoi's, one side all flat screen. "See, you work it like this!" She presses a button on the side, and the screen lights up. "You can store lots of things on it, even stuff that's not pictures!" She smiles giddily and you hold out your hand. She hands it over happily and hovers by your shoulder. Now, somehow Aoi had a video of Hatate, so …. You tap at several icons before finding one that leads you to a 'search.' And then, with Hatate watching, you search for tengu. And, how surprising, there are several lines mentioning a tengu shopping in Tokyo. "Um … oops?" You tap one of the video lines, and … oh. It's not a recording. "Am … Aya, am I in trouble?" You hand the camera back to your embarrassed colleague and sigh to yourself. You do not want a headache.
What do you do?
[ ] Better make sure people don't get the wrong idea about youkai. Take Hatate to Edo Castle and blow away the intruders.
[ ] No more headaches. Mission accomplished enough, back to the mansion.
