Talking with Lanfear
Humans don't look up, so you'll fly Lanfear to a roof-like area or a balcony on the Tower and continue your conversation.

You think for a moment, then sweep the channeler into your arms before launching you both into the air. As out of sorts as she is, you'd rather not try to just guide her past any real Aes Sedai, in case she reacts poorly to any attempts to help her. You dash over the nearer wing of the tower, then plummet to the top of the stable. Humans don't look up, but they do look down - on a lot of things, really, and they say tengu are stuck-up - and this location should be far enough from the balconies on the tower itself that people shouldn't be able to identify either of you. Lanfear stiffens while you're in the air, apparently roused by the shock of your movement, and when you set her down, she pushes herself away from you, stumbling before recovering and jabbing a finger at you.

"Don't! Don't you do that again!" She manages to lower the volume to a mere hiss before she finishes the first word, and you wonder if it's heights or flying that she's afraid of ... or if it's maybe moving too quickly. "I don't need your help to deal with these Aes Sedai." Her lips curl with disdain, and you decide against pressing her on that particular note; she may be powerful, but she probably understands the difference in individual power compared to the power of a gathered group, or else she wouldn't be sneaking around under an illusion. She twitches as Hatate and Yoshika land on the roof as well, making it rather less likely that anyone who looks down will not recognize at least one of you.

"As you say," you respond neutrally, and Lanfear takes another step back, establishing her space and taking a breath. "You were explaining the importance of the Horn?" That earns you a glare - exceptional for a human, modest enough for a youkai.

"The one who finds the Horn of Valere gains great glory, and the sounder of the Horn great power. It is also of great importance to the final battle that will see the Dark One released from his prison." She frowns and looks around, taking in your new location. Crossing her arms, she looks at you. "Bring it here; I want to make sure it's the real thing, since you decided to do something stupid like leave it without a guard." You tilt your head slightly, wondering if you should go along with her ... but Ba'alzamon did say that her goodwill was contingent on striking a deal with her regarding the Horn.

"I'll be a few minutes, I think. Be good, all of you." Lanfear's frown turns to a glare, but Hatate just nods and scratches Yoshika's ears. Zipping to the entry without being spotted is easy enough, and you don't encounter any Aes Sedai on your way to your room. You do, however, encounter a strangely sullen man waiting outside your room. "Can I help you?" He doesn't react to your question, nor your sketching his drab appearance, and only when you reach out to touch him does his listless demeanor change, but even that is just to avoid your touch. He continues watching your door from across the hall, and you keep an eye on him as you open the door. There isn't anyone waiting for you inside, and the strange man doesn't follow you in, so you take the Horn - still wrapped up in your dress, although you check to make sure it's the real thing as far as you know - and leave without incident. You'll have to ask someone about that man when you get the chance.

"Ahhh ... the Horn of Valere." Lanfear's eyes are wide and covetous as she looks on the instrument. When you start to hand it to her, however, she recoils. "No! I don't want it."

"I'm sorry, could you explain that?" You blink curiously at the scowling woman. She just said that it would be important to freeing her lord, right? So why doesn't she want it? "You don't want glory and power?"

"Hmph! I don't want it, and I don't need it. It's not for me, anyway. No, it's for him ...." Her eyes look past the world for a moment, but she recovers before she can get too lost in her desires. "Ishamael said you want to interview me. Take that back to Falme and return it properly, with an injunction to keep it in the town, and I will answer at least some questions for you. And after that, I will take you to where you can meet the Finn." You and Hatate exchange glances.

"Am I supposed to use your name with that command? I don't intend to keep an eye on them to make sure they don't sneak it back to their home, if they know how important it is, and I'm not going to say that I will."

"It will be taken care of!" Lanfear snaps at you, grouchy again, but she takes a breath and fakes a smile. "Just find whoever is in charge of the town and tell him or her that it's supposed to stay in the town. Now, I'm going to go somewhere that isn't offensive to me. Just pass on to Mesaana that you've done as you were told, and I will find you later. And no, I'm not looking for that stupid book, so you might as well tell her that, too!" She turns and starts to walk away.

"Um, who's Mesaana?" Hatate's question makes the Chosen stop short, and you're pretty sure she didn't actually mean to say that name.

"Tell Danelle to pass it on to Mesaana," she clarifies, then shakes her head and goes back to walking to the edge of the stable roof, vanishing a few steps away from it. Maybe a different form of teleportation than what Ba'alzamon used? Or did she actually just turn invisible and is making her escape some other way?

"... So, do you think I should do return it?" You look at your subordinate and tap the shrouded Horn. Hatate frowns and sits down, letting Yoshika flop her head on her lap.

"Well, if you want to interview her and meet these 'Finn,' you probably should. If you don't ... well, not helping the Shadow isn't the same thing as helping the Light, so as long as we keep it hidden instead of telling people about it, it should be fine."

What do you do?

[ ] Take the Horn back now.

[ ] Make a decision later.
- [ ] Back to the library for now.

[ ] Other?

Just to let the worlf where Tengu wil eventaully dominate habitable we should do what the canon of Wheel of time did. Otherwise I dont thing a world under the dark lord is very nice to innocent fairies and scandalous reporters

At this point, I think it's safe to say that interest in the quest has died, so I'll be ending it here. I will probably not be writing out a formal end to the quest; this is just a notification that this is finished.

Sad to see that it's ending but at least it's ending like this instead of dying abruptly without a word. I really liked checking in on this and reading the updates in bursts. Thanks for the time and stuff put into it and updating it for so long

Sorry, I just wasn't really sure how to respond to the last vote. It seemed like there was no good way out of our predicament, so I kept waiting, hoping that someone else would speak up first and come up with a solution that I'd vote for.

Even so, this was a fun quest, and I liked a bunch of the culture clash - especially in the Redwall section. Thank you for continuing it for so long.

It's too bad that nobody made any omakes for this quest. The previous quest had a lot of fun omakes, often exploring AU routes and missed opportunities, so I was surprised nobody made any. The author's side story bits were nice, though.

Darn. I stopped reading for a few reasons, but I was planning to come back for the epilog where the Tengu did move to a new world. Would've been cool. But if no one's voting, can't blame you for not writing.

All the same, thanks for the years of content put into this quest! If you start something else, I'll check it out.

In one last ditch effort to keep things rolling, I'll make a vote:

[X] Wager the Horn in a danmaku duel.
-[X] If Lanfear wins, she gets the Horn and a news-related favor from us. If we win, she won't object to our present holding of the Horn, and she'll owe us an interview.

Maybe it's too little, too late at this point, and I'm not sure it's the best vote, but I don't want to see this jump end unfinished if I can help it.

I will look forward to what you will make next. After 3 or 4 weeks my school will come to a end. So I can finally write Omakes about your stories. Hope you can make another great story I look forward to it.
