Of all the superpowers Taylor could have (and has) gotten in her misbegotten life, she didn't expect her power to be a floating screen that's allowing her to turn into white-haired beings with powers of their own

It has been a very long time since I've done anything on this site so I am a wee bit clueless on how things work.

[]
The moment she opened her eyes back in that hospital room and was discharged later, that same pale blue floating text screen had been following her around.

[Please Select One Name]

No one seemed to be able to see it, not the doctors nor her dad, even when they leaned into it, they never noticed it.

It was strange, very strange, but it didn't feel too surprising though as Taylor knew there were some Capes with weirder powers.

The fact that she may as well be a Cape with powers improved her general mood despite all the shit she has endured for the last 2 years now.

Once she and her dad arrived home, she went to her room with the excuse of wanting to rest, which her dad didn't contest. She made the promise of getting take-away Chinese food later.

Taylor didn't mind it, in fact, she preferred it, as right now she wanted to finally see what this floating screen was all about.

Upon shutting the door to her room, Taylor sat down on her bed and after staring at the floating screen for a bit she finally pressed on its surface, it then began to expand and show a whole list of names that she didn't really recognise at all.

Where did she even begin?

She only really knew 4 of the dozens of names on this list and even then she had the vaguest of ideas about what they were, other than that 3 of them were ships and the other a historical Queen, why was there even a Queen and ships on this list in the first place.

There were also many foreign sounding names, and even the English looking ones she didn't know anything about.

But that screen just said to select one, but the question was who?

Ultimately though, Taylor decided to touch the name that was the most recognisable of the bunch.

Then once the blue text screen vanished Taylor began to feel a tingling sensation.

Then that tingle became a pleasant warmth.

Which then became a bit hotter…and hotter.

She then noticed her hands were shaking.

Her breath then shuddered before Taylor went ramrod straight.

She tried to make a sound but couldn't as they choked.

Then Taylor fell backwards into her bed as an excruciating pain like fire or something very close to it ignited within her bones.

It started in her heart before spreading to her spine and then the rest of the body.

Taylor could feel her body spasm as pain wracked her body.

Her eyes became blurry as tears leaked out.

And before long Taylor saw nothing as her consciousness faded into darkness.
[]
When she woke up again it was the worried distraught face of her dad that appeared above her and that of a familiar stranger along with familiar surroundings.

"Miss Hebert is awake, please inform the others" a young woman with freckles, brown messy hair in a white robe with a red cross outfit called out to a black-suited man with shades.

"Taylor sweety, are you ok are you in pain anywhere" The voice of her dad brought her attention off of Brockton Bays resident premier healer.

As she glanced around, Taylor became increasingly aware that once again she was back in the Hospital, plus she could feel lingering feelings of pulsating pain running up and down her body.

Other than that she felt fine, however, her head was killing her, in fact, Taylor began to understand strange things and feel something that wasn't there.

But focusing on her dad she did her best to try and reassure him.

"N-no, Dad, I'm fine, I think…what happened, why I'm I in the Hospital again" This was something that she wanted to know as from her perspective, a few moments ago she was in her room experiencing the worst kind of pain all over her body other than the torment she went through by the trio on nearly every school day.

"When I was about to leave to get food, I heard you screaming upstairs, when I saw you, you were thrashing and yelling while strange glowing lines appeared on your body, I called the ambulance which involved the PRT and Protectorate and before long we got you here at the hospital, it's been nearly 9 hours since then" from what her father had revealed to her was like a strange metaphorical weight being placed on her then leaving all the same, it didn't make any sense but she couldn't help but marvel at the fact the heroes of the Bay were involved with this incident and surprised by the fact it's been that long since she pressed that name on that floating text screen.

A glance at the nearby window showed that outside was still dark but getting brighter as the sun was rising, but she clearly remembered it being in the afternoon when she got back home.

But Taylor began to quickly notice something, there was some weird feeling on her back as well as an unfamiliar weight on her chest, and looking down left her very confused.

There seemed to be two great big mounds that appeared to move up and down at the same rhythm as her breathing.

'what is this' she thought to herself while bringing up her hands to them.

But she jolted in surprise when she felt something upon grabbing them, something very familiar yet so strange as well.

In a quick motion, she brought her hands to her patient gown and raised it a bit just so her eyes could see what was going on with her chest.

With eyes slightly widening she saw that the mounds were indeed part of her body and not some strange thing hanging there, another quick poke immediately confirmed that 'yes they are a part of my body'.

It was surreal what was happening, she almost couldn't believe this was happening to her.

"Erm, Taylor dear, please don't do that while I'm here" At the sound of her Dad's voice, Taylor jolted up looking between her dad and her chest before quickly realizing what she had been doing in front of her father of all people.
Her face flashed red as mortification flooded her mind.

But her embarrassment came to a halt once the door opened and in came three Protectorate Heroes and some PRT personnel.

Standing in front of her were Velocity the speedster hero, Miss Milita the gun-summoning heroine and at the lead, Armsmaster the leader and Tinker hero in the city.

"Greetings Miss Hebert I see you are awake; I do hope you are able to provide some answers to help us in our investigation" That was…blunt.

Armsmaster had placed himself directly at the end of the bed while looking intently at Taylor whilst asking his questions which felt more like an order than anything else.

"Armsmaster seriously, the kid just woke up, give her some time" the other male hero spoke out with exasperation at the first words spoken by his superior.

"What our dear friend here meant to is, are feeling okay Taylor, is there anything we could do for you to make you feel better" the Heroine said in a calm and nurturing voice, almost like she knew what to say to make someone feel at ease.

"u-h y-yeah, I'm ok" Taylor replied rather nervously, the Heroine smiled, or at least Taylor thinks they smiled under their American bandana.

"That's excellent, I hate to trouble you, but we'd like to ask questions relating to your Trigger" The way she said seemed almost reluctant but all the more far more considerate.

"I'm sorry for interrupting, but what are you referring to when you say Trigger" Danny Hebert, Taylor's father asked the heroes before them as he wasn't one to understand nor follow hero and villain terminology with one another.

The three looked a bit hesitant to answer, they even grimaced at the question.

"A Trigger Event Mr Hebert" Armsmaster started speaking "Is when a normal human being becomes a Parahuman and gains powers by going through what can only be described as the worst possible day you have ever experienced" A look of realization flooded Taylor once the Tinker hero finished his brief explanation.
"My locker" she whispered loud enough to be heard.

"Precisely" Armsmaster nodded to her as Velocity took over speaking.

"That is why we are here, as most Trigger Events result in the individual using their newly gained powers to reap a bloody revenge on those who have wronged them, it's why we have so many villains compared to heroes" Taylor shivered at those words for she could already envision herself doing terrible things to her tormentors, heck she might have added in the whole of Winslow into it.

"Thankfully, however when you look at it, your case while being very bad is a breath of fresh air as normally we have to resort to physical force to 'calm' the individual down, least they do something they will regret for the rest of their lives" Taylor had to resist huffing at the remark.

"But this also ties into our investigation, we've already have warrants and confessions, but what we'd like to confirmation on is who are the ring leaders, we don't want to waste too much time on going through the convicted pushing their blame on others who may or may not be involved, so I must ask, do you know anyone who you know for a fact that they were malicious towards you" Taylor didn't really need to think too hard and long about what to say, only that a sense of tension and relief was filling her.

Would justice finally be served to those bitches, would the last 2 years of suffering finally come to an end, just like that, could this be a dream.

Nonetheless, Taylor answered with certainty in her voice.

"Madison Clements, Sophia Hess, and Emma Barns" Her Father looked shocked at the last name being said while the heroes tensed their stances before various looks were shown over their body language.

"Emma, Taylor you two are friends" Taylor merely shook her head feeling guilty over revealing this fact to her Dad.

"Ever since camp, she just suddenly started acting differently, tormenting me with Sophia along Madison" She didn't want to face her Dad, she couldn't begin to imagine what he would do once she explained everything they had done to her.

"And are you absolutely sure that these are the ones who caused your Trigger" Armsmaster said with a biting steel in his voice, it was cold, and that somewhat scared Taylor.

"Yes, I have a journal filled to the brim with all the things they've done to me, I can show you it once we get home" Armsmaster nodded before turning to her dad.

"Sir, it would be apricated if we could recover that piece of evidence as soon as possible" Danny just nodded.

"Yes, uh Taylor, I-I'm going to take them to get it, do know where we can find it" Her Dad was trying hard to suppress his rage much less look angry from what she revealed, it's not often Taylor gets to see him unleash his furry, but the times he does it at times frightens her.

"T-Thats ok, I don't mind, it on the top shelf in the cupboard" As she says this her Father nods back along with a smile saying 'I will see you soon' before leaving with the male heroes while the heroine stays behind.

At this moment Taylor wanted to fall back into the bed she was on, the drama however brief it was had her feeling exhausted.

As if seeing it, Panacean ushered everyone out of the room so Taylor would have some rest as well as time to herself as she had just woken up.

Once the door was shut, Taylor immediately got up while making sure to not accidentally remove the wires on her which were monitoring her health.

She wanted to get a good look at herself in the mirror to see what else had changed other than the massive lumps on her chest.

Upon making it to the said mirror in the small bathroom, Taylor couldn't help but feel gobsmacked at what was being reflected at her.

There in the mirror where Taylor was supposed to be, was not a tall, stick thin, akwarded faced wide-eyed teen.

Instead, there in place of her image, was a stunningly beautiful young woman standing there, it was as though everything wrong with her former body was purged and replaced, her muscles seemed to magically become more pronounced clearly shown on her larger leg thighs, toned arms, and stomach, there was no longer a pudgy bulge anymore but a lean six pack.

Her skin seemed to shine, and impurities were gone, it looked like she went to a spa.

The most glaring change was obviously her chest which ballooned from a depressing flat board that those bitches especially Emma poked fun at whenever she could, now with vindictive glee she could proudly say hers were bigger.

Next on her face, her eyes had changed colour along with her hair which somewhat hurt her self-esteem as they were one of the only things which she took pride in, the fact they were so similar to her mothers.

Now though, her eyes were a pale blue that seemed to glow as they were reflective in this light, her hair had changed completely from raven locks to stark white, it was no longer curly but straight and wavy, however thankfully its length was unchanged.

But her bodily change wasn't the only thing she was stunned at for it was what was behind her, or more disturbingly, what was fused to her back.

Just above the hip line right near her lower back was a fusion of flesh and metal, it was a boxy sort of contraption that sprouted mechanical arms that had what could only be described as cannons affixed to them.

Taylor counted three large tri-mounted ones that stood out prominently and 4 smaller dual mounts.

Upon seeing them and the drastic changes to her body, Taylor seemed paralyzed or more appropriately dumbstruck.

She knew full well how the changes came to be, upon touching that name upon that floating screen then the following and blackout.

USS Washington, Taylor was unsure what it was, only that it was an American name for something, for what though she was drawing up blanks.

She shook her head at it, it didn't matter, not right now at least.

So Taylor moved back to her bed to sit down and just think about what direction her life might be moving in.

Soon though she thought about that floating screen from yesterday.

[13 days 14 hours 33 seconds Until Next Selection Offer]

Then there was that whatever it was it didn't react to any of her finger touches like last time, the screen just displayed this same countdown, and she could make an educated guess as to what though.

The idea that she could potentially gain another superpower just by selecting another name in the next two weeks was quite frankly amazing in a sense.

She wasn't sure if should reveal this aspect to everyone else, from what she gathered during the talks with heroes, the days until her next power selection were going to be very busy days.

In a way, it felt as though a huge weight was lifted off of her shoulders after revealing just a mere bit of information on her tormented life on what was the cause of her 'Trigger Event'.
There was much to worry about and equally perhaps much to be hopeful for.
In the meantime though, she would ask the nurses for a book and when the opportunity presents itself, ask about what the USS Washington was.

She was finally out of the hospital…again.

They left in the afternoon, but instead of going home, they'd been convinced to stay at Protectorate HQ, the floating Rig out in the bay.

It was absolutely awe-inspiring and exciting.

Taylor loved heroes especially when she was young, she still had posters of Alexandria, her favorite hero up along the wall of her room, and embarrassingly, panties with Armsmaster's face on them.

So, to go to their base of operations and see them in action—well, not so much in action as to potentially be trained by them and maybe fight alongside them—was something like a dream come true.

But before all that could happen, she needed to be tested on what she could do while her father went through the paperwork and all the boring yet very important meetings that would determine her future.

So throughout the week, the personnel on the rig put Taylor through the metaphorical ringer in what she can and cannot do, physically, mentally, and whatever else.

What did they find out about?

They found she could walk on water and skate near about 28knots, her guns fired incredibly dangerous munitions in a miniature format which sent Armsmaster into a tinker frenzy due to the fact that one of his specialties was about miniaturization of items he makes, next they tested her durability, and apparently, her skin made her practically invulnerable to the most extreme measures, she had like an iron skin which was quite thick, and while she may never need to worry about guns or small handheld rockets she was advised (ordered) to not jump into the line of fire, after that her precision was tested, aside from really good eyesight and the fact she could zoom in onto things far away she could also sense things many miles away like along with being about to tell whether objects were underground or even cars and planes.

To Taylor personally, all these abilities she displayed could all be performed by the very thing her power came from which she found out was a World War 2 American Battleship, the USS Washington.

It was strange to consider oneself as a human warship.

What was nice was the ability to dismiss her armaments, so her secret identity was safe in a way aside from her obvious body change which anyone who actually knew her could see that she was the new Ward to be 'name pending' girl warship or something along those lines.

Thankfully though NDAs exist, and she is very unlikely to meet anyone from Winslow ever again, thank god for that.

However, she was not looking forward to going to school again, even if it was Arcadia the place where all the other Wards, where her future teammates go to, and it being far better than Winslow.

Another thing though, is that apparently by the time she is slotted to go to her new school, would be when she'd potentially gain another power from one of those many names.

Today however, she would be meeting three of her future teammates, Taylor was not so excited about it, as the last thing she really wanted to deal with was more teenage drama, but she held hope that they were not like the kids among Winslow, she knew full well that not every child nor teen was poor excuse for a human being.

She wore a bandana provided by the PRT to cover her identity which oddly worked well enough, she didn't have a costume of her own so for now her baggy clothes would do, unfortunately, what was once loose-fitting cloth seemingly becoming well-fitting clothing much to her further embarrassment.

She was accompanied by the gun heroine Miss Militia, Taylor found her to be nice in an oddly motherly way which caused her heart to ache at her own late mother, she shook such depressing thoughts away, now was not the time to dredge up past grief.

Her Father was also here but he was in a meeting with the Director and some others to sort out other paperwork concerning some rules and regulations which Danny found odd or did not like, specifically the ones where Wards like herself may be called upon to directly fight the villains of the Bay, and more importantly, to confirm that it was a voluntary decision but heavily discouraged act of volunteering to fight in Endbringer battles.

Taylor wasn't sure if she could be of any use at all in such a battle, she could see herself being somewhat useful in fights against Leviathan given her ability to practically skate on water, as for the others she was not confident.

Soon she entered a lift that led to the Wards room and as the doors closed there was a muffled alarm sound from above, Miss Militia had told her earlier that it was to give the Wards enough time to mask themselves for when visitors or other heroes and PRT members came over so they wouldn't expose their identities.

Once the doors opened and both adult and teen stepped out into a spacious area, they found three individuals waiting for them, from the armoured Gallant, the clock-themed Clockblocker, and the youngest space-warper Vista, the others were not there, either being on patrol or simply at home or out an about in their civilian identities.

"Hello everyone, I'm glad you three are here for me to introduce you to our soon-to-be newest Ward, Washington," the older hero said gesturing towards Taylor who in turn gave a shy wave.

First to step up was Clockblocker who sported a cherry smile as he walked up with a hand extended.

"Well it is very nice to meet you beautiful, if you haven't noticed I am the dashing, the daring, ClockWoHa oh come on Vista" his body was abruptly yanked back by some unseen force, my eyes glanced down and saw that the floor seemed to have been stretched out to the extreme.

The clock-themed Ward was back where he started right next to his teammates, Gallant looked as though he was sighing while Vista kicked him in the shin.

"Idiot, we finally get a girl on the team and you try to fu-urg fudge it up" the boy in the white costume managed to get some distance from his small, green-themed teammate.

"Okay, first off nice save, and second we had Stalker" The young girl simply made a dismissive hand wave on that last remark.

"She doesn't count, thank god we don't have to deal with her anymore" Taylor blinked at that new titbit of information, she idly wondered what had happened to cause one of the Wards to be moved away from the Bay.

"Aside from that, Washington right, I hear you're packing some big guns, it'll be nice to finally have some serious firepower at our disposal, I'm glad to have you a part of the team." This time it was the knight in shining armor who spoke, seemingly ending the small drama between his teammates.

"I heard about that as well, can we see it please, your changer state I mean," the youngest hero said walking up to Taylor while looking up expectantly who in turn shot a glance at the adult Heroine in the room who made a nod while their face seemed to form a small smile beneath their mask.

Taking that as confirmation, Taylor gave her power a pull, like a metaphysical item being slotted into place, bright blue pixels formed around her, and the shape of her combat rig took form showing the Wards her armaments.

3 triple 16inch guns along with 4 smaller dual purpose 5inch guns being proudly displayed on her partly manifested hull, even if they were comically small the testing they'd done during the week showed they still caused the same amount of damage a regular-sized or equivalent naval gun could do, and there were only 4, well technically 7 examples of it still left in the world, that being the 4 Iowa's, 2 South Dakotas, Massachusetts and Alabama and finally North Carolina which the Washington was the only sister ship of.

"That's so cool" The young Ward was inspecting every single part of her rig while the others admired her form as they circled which made Taylor rather uncomfortable, she had experience with ridicule and insults, but being admired and in awe of was a foreign feeling to her.

Thankfully, Miss Militia as if sensing her discomfort stepped in to herd the young heroes off her.

"Okay everyone no need to make our fellow Ward uneasy, you can check out her Power made Rig later, why don't you give a tour of your area, make her feel at home" The three young heroes did as they were told and began showing Taylor around their little home away from home.

They showed her the corridor to their respective rooms as well as the small kitchenette area along with the washrooms, then back to the entrance where their lounge and play area was which came with a large flatscreen TV with two or three gaming systems already hooked up to it.

Overall despite her initial nervousness regarding interacting with her own age group again, only this time with powers and people who she could call paragons of justice, she started to feel more and more at ease the longer she talked to the Wards while the Adult Protectorate hero was just hovering off to the side watching them with a hidden smile.

Eventually, Taylor was informed that her father was done with everything and that she'd be considered a Ward at the start of the next week and a half or so, soon they would be heading home and for Taylor, it felt surreal.

Very soon she be calling herself a Hero, something that greatly pleased and excited her.

But of course, she was still lacking two things.

A costume and an education.

She would be slatted to have a meeting with someone called Glenn Chambers, a PR man who worked very closely with the PRT and Protectorate, so she needed to go through him in order to get a robust and thematic hero suit and do a little Wards reveal ceremony to the Press as well, the Wards she was with gave her pitying glances at that.

Also, she was only 14, and thus even though she would be a Ward soon and have responsibilities to carry out, she was still a young teen who still needed an education.

And so, before she would be called a Hero, she would first be going back to school.

While she felt dread at the prospect of returning to school life considering how shit the last two years of it went, she took solace in the fact that she would be going to Arcadia High and that she would never see anyone who tormented her there, not that they would recognize her anymore considering how much her body has changed from taking on the powers of a Battleship.

The easy way is to copy the URL of an image somewhere on the web, and then paste it between two IMG tags. It's also considered polite to put spoiler tags around image tags as well.

Eg:

Code:
[spoiler][img]https://cdn.donmai.us/original/d9/d1/__washington_kantai_collection_drawn_by_zeco__d9d1f7a4061fb2eed4477bb2547a849f.png[/img][/spoiler]

Results in:

Just make sure the URL is the URL of the image, not the page the image is hosted on. For that, either right click on the image qnd find the right option, or, if on mobile, press and hold until options pop up and pick 'open image url', and copy that.

You can also change 'spoiler' to 'spoiler=CharacterName' (no space between = and the name) if you want to add a description, eg:

Edit: Oh, and as another useful tip:

SV actually has a very lengthy post by CmptrWhiz about how to do bbcode formatting on this website. It mostly works for any bbcode site, include SB and QQ, though there are sometimes differences due to how Xenforo (the forum software they all use) implements coding modules.

Edit 2: Huh, apparently it's now a proper help page instead of the post made by Whiz, found allllll the way down at the bottom of the page. Still. Can be found here.

Very useful thank you

Taylor would be lying if she said she didn't feel scared about going to school.

Even if it was said to be the best school in Brockton Bay as well as being the school where all the Wards go to, so that made the school itself a no-go to any gangs in the city less they incur the Wrath of the entire PRT and Protectorate down on them.

Taylor was more so worried about her time Arcadia being exactly the same as her time in Winslow, an irrational fear really, but she had trauma and past experiences to think that way.

Even after being led to the principal's office by a nice lady and being given assurances that her experience in Winslow would not be happening here did little to assure her, even as they walked through the halls she could already hear the whispers and see the glances and finger points that the other students were giving her.

Though what they said was the opposite of what the kids at Winslow would say to her, but they both made her feel embarrassed even if it was for two completely different reasons.

Her face flushed red as she heard them compliment her looks, the colour of her hair, and how her figure, it showed through her once baggy now tight clothing, it was a constant reminder to go shopping for clothing that would actually fit her.

Even when she contemplated it all through class, Taylor couldn't help but feel relief and happy that she wasn't being called such hideous names but instead being praised for just how she looked.

And that sadly further drove home how ugly she thought and believed she was before her Trigger, the old-looking Taylor equaled ugly while the new one equaled beautiful, it was a toxic mindset that she found difficult to dismiss.

No doubt her Father and late Mother would disagree with her.

Soon the bell rang, and her musing were thoroughly put aside by the call of lunch.

As she was thinking about possibly heading outside or to the roof to eat alone, her sight was impeded by the appearance of a nearly similar-sized blonde girl with a figure that nearly equaled her own.

"Hey there, I heard you were the new girl right, how would you like to come and sit with me and my friends," the blonde said in an incredibly friendly tone, also they were floating, so that meant they must be Glory Girl, a heroine of New Wave which was an independent hero family that did away with the masks.

"I.." Taylor was feeling rather apprehensive about accepting, which was irrational, but as she thought about it she realized that a hero like Glory Girl wouldn't degrade herself to be a petty bully.

"It's alright if you don't want to, I won't pressure you" Taylor shook her head at those words, she was trying to help her in a way, Taylor didn't want to reject that kindness from a hero as so far it was the heroes in the bay that got her out of her school, who dealt with her tormentors and the former faculty at Winslow, they were the ones who got her into this school so that she never go through that sort of hell ever again.

"Sorry, I... I like that, t-to join you that is" let it be known that Taylor's social abilities have been deeply hampered no thanks to those fucking bitches, she found it difficult to come up with the appropriate words to get her points across.

Thankfully the blond smiled and happily guided her through the halls towards the cafeteria where a table of teens were conversing at.

"Hey guys, hope you don't mind but I brought the new girl..uh" the blond looked at Taylor who in turn was wondering why she was looking at her.

It was only a moment later that Taylor flushed with embarrassment upon realising that the hero wanted her to introduce herself.

"oh, um, hey uh, I.. I'm T-Taylor, nice to meet you" Taylor gave a half-hearted wave while her eyes and head twitched while her feet shuffled as her nervousness bled through for all to see just how uncomfortable she was.

"Hello Taylor, nice to meet you I'm Dean" he had blond hair and broad shoulders and his voice, Taylor for some reason found it very familiar, and it was the same sort of feeling that the next boy gave her as he spoke next.

"Sup my names Dennis" he had red hair and bright blue eyes, he also seemed to be an average height for boys his age, but then there was that easy-going smile he had.

"Hi, I'm Carlos" he was about the same body type as Dennis though he had brown eyes and black long hair along with an accent in his voice that Taylor couldn't narrow done.

"I'm Chris" Chris had brown hair tired-looking eyes and was quite paler than the rest he also seemed a bit more reserved in his tone.

And was it for the boys, as for the girls Taylor immediately recognized one of them as Panacea, the sister to Glory Girl, the hero healer that healed Taylor the first time she was admitted to Brockton Bay General, and the second time when she changed.

Seeing her without her Cape outfit, Taylor found herself looking at a deeply tired girl with bags under her eyes as she was hunched over and barely giving anything more than small interested glances at Taylor and amusement and something else at her sister, other than that she paid no attention to anyone else at the table.

"Okay that's my sister Amy there, don't mind too much if she doesn't acknowledge you, she's like that with most people" The blond then went over to the other three girls sitting with them.

"That's Tracy" She pointed to another blond who Taylor could see had brown hair roots meaning it must have been dyed, and she had a petite figure.

"Next to her is Jade" She had black hair in the form of a pixie cut, and she also cut an athletic form.

"And finally Helen." Helen had brown hair tied up in a ponytail and was similar in stature to Tracy, along with a smidge of jealousy in her eyes when she eyed Taylor.

…in fact, all the girls here were looking at her with jealousy, and that made Taylor rub her arms, the movement caused the boys (and girl?) to 'stare' which made the looks the girls sent even more intense.

"And my name is Victoria, but you probably already know that" 'Not really' that's what Taylor thought to herself, though it was nice to have a name to the hero's face other than calling her Glory Girl all the time.

After the introductions were done Taylor took a seat which was in-between the Dallon sisters and explained a bit about herself, how she was born and raised here in the Bay, her family to a small extent, and a very brief history of her time in Winslow before being transferred to Arcadia, everyone at the table did not push on the subjects and that was something Taylor liked.

Now she just would sit there listening to the conversations mostly driven by Victoria and the other girls aside from Amy, with the boys occasionally pitching in about school life and the Cape scene.

Taylor would perk up upon hearing how the teens spoke about her upcoming Wards reveal ceremony, the boys looked bemused about it as if knowing something no one else knew and the girls gossiped about what the Ward (Taylor) would look like and theory crafting on what powers they (Taylor) had.

Also, Taylor could have sworn Amy had a creeping smirk coming on as they continued to talk about her basically, it was in a way embarrassing having people talk about you without them actually knowing that you're the subject of the conversation but you can't reveal that you are.

Once the lunch bell rang and the girls and boys departed, Taylor followed by the smirking Amy moaned about being talked about in such a positive light but not being able to say anything.

"Cheer up ship girl, that's just the charm of being a hero, well if you outed yourself who to say it might be even worse" Taylor didn't know how to respond to that, however, she did raise an eyebrow at the nickname the healer gave her.

"Ship girl?" Amy snorted before replying.

"That is what you are, isn't it, what with all those big guns and stuff, plus your biology is weird" That was the last thing she said before ducking into a classroom.

Taylor made a dejected hum as she continued onwards to her own class which for some reason was on the other side of the school's football field.

As the day progressed to the end of school, she said her goodbyes to her new…'friends'…it was strange to consider them as such, perhaps acquaintances would be better until she got to know them better or when they go and have sleepover or something, Taylor had no idea what teen friends did with one another outside of the obvious.

Once she got home and changed out of her clothes and into something which covered her features better, she and her dad headed over to the PRT HQ where she'd meet with Glenn Chambers head of PR where they would discuss on what her Cape outfit would look like.

As they arrived, they were shown the way toward an area that could only be described as a fashion shows backstage area, there were many hangers and racks of clothing, masks, ribbons, everything a fashion designer would need to make something presentable.

Then there were the people who looked extremely presentable with perfectly ironed out clothing and clean swept-back hair, an overall appearance of elegance.

The rather rotund man with messy hair and a fuzzy beard did not look like he belonged here, but he had a name showing his name as 'Glenn Chambers'.

"Ah, most excellent you're here, please take off your shirt Miss as we are going to need precise measurements" Taylor briefly wondered if this was really the man who was going to be helping her decide what her hero costume would look like.

"Absolutely Not"

Another article of clothing was thrown into the pile of an ever-increasing mound of clothes.

They suggested a pink frilly dress, PINK, Taylor wanted to be heroic and iconic not a bloody children's tea party doll.

"Okay, we'll tick off the fairy themes" Glenn says as he runs his pen across his notepad.

So far in the last ten minutes or so, they've been going through clothing, themes, and ideas and none have even remotely filled Taylor with anything but disappointment.

Princess styles, Barbie Esq models, and even a Japanese sailor uniform have all been thrown into the pile of rejects.

"Look, I just want a suit that's both practical and iconic" Glenn just looked at her with an unamused look.

"That's all you kids want these days, I read your file and I know you have power-related armor so we didn't need to go with any knightly themes, the guns don't give the best impression to some girls even more so the regular American parent, but boys especially teen boys will like it, but to put it all together.." he trailed off as he both sighed and scratched his chin in trying to figure out a good costume for Taylor.

"We could go straight to the aquatic choices sir," one of the attendees said to Glenn who was handed over a binder with different pictures of swimsuits and naval uniforms.

Flipping through them Glenn nodded to some while taking out some that looked too risqué.

After some shuffling, he took three pages before giving them to Taylor.

"How about a combination of these three." He said, Taylor took the three pages and placed them down on a white folding table which was draped over with more colorful clothing.

One photo had a one-piece wetsuit with a diving tank and mask along with flippers and a sash bag that held a red and white medical cross on it.

The second had a figure covered by a large near oversized overcoat that took inspiration from a white captain cloak along with a traditional navy uniform with stars and stripes.

The last was a Lifeguard or even a Surf Lifesaving outfit with short swimmers and a cap, the image also contained a foam floater and flippers on the feet.

Taylor gave back the third image, but the first and second seemed to give Taylor a feeling, it wasn't something she understood but it was a kind of feeling of when something just clicked and everything else would fall into place.

"This coat seems good along with the naval-like symbols plus the shoes, as for the wetsuit I'd like it to look not too bulky, I don't want to be restricted on my movement," Taylor said what she wanted to say, Mr Chambers had a small smile as he nodded along to what Taylor wanted.

"And we have a winner, right we'll get this sorted for the Tailors, we should have something available two days before your debut" With that all sorted the PR team started to clean up and place all the clothing they brought with them into several boxes which they began carting out of the room with the help of some PRT troopers.

"Well, thank you for your time Washington, I'll be sure to inform the Director of what we've concluded with, and I will see you in a couple of days alright," Glenn says as he waved goodbye to Taylor who returned the gesture.

Once they were gone Taylor let out a tired breath before making her way to the lobby where her Dad was at, but before that, she made sure to change into her civilian wear and stow away her bandana mouth mask.

Once that was done she met up with Danny who gave a wave and a hug before they began heading out to the truck.

"So how did it go" Her Father asked as they opened the doors of the building and walked out onto the streets.

"It was exhausting and it wasn't even for that long, they wanted me to dress up as a pink princess" Danny snorted as he looked far too amused with the idea of his little girl dressed in what said.

"Well, you'll always be my princess little owl" he smirked as Taylor looked away.

"Stooop" Taylor moaned and then pouted when her father just laughed at her.

Both father and daughter chattered a bit more as they got in Danny's truck and headed home. It was a very positive thing for them to be doing, as usually, both of them wouldn't even be talking at length. If Taylor didn't trigger, or perhaps in another universe where she did but her father never found out, it would have been the same old awkward silence between the two.

But in this universe, Taylor's Father found out about his daughter's troubles, and with the help of both PRT and Protectorate, they managed to gain justice, not only that, it forced the duo to talk about their grievances and finally heal from the shadow of Annette Hebert's passing.

Despite the trauma being forced out into the open and much crying it ultimately allowed the remaining family members to feel as though a massive weight had been lifted off of their shoulders.

Now after two years, father and daughter could talk to one another without the grief and torment, they could now look towards the future and not just go through the motions as it were.

But that's just the thing though.

Even though the Hebert's now had a near-positive future ahead of them, even though there was still much uncertainty and fear to be had, they knew that they could in a small but reassuring way, face it with confidence.

All they need now is a test, to see how that confidence stacks up to what living in Brockton Bay is really all about.

"Uh, dad what's happening over there" At an intersection whilst they were stopped at a red light, Taylor pointed towards the front of them as she saw objects of sorts flying up in the air.

Both squinted their eyes to see if they could make it out.

What they could tell was that it was getting closer as more objects were either flung to the side or up above.

A horrible dread engulfed both of them as they quickly realized that those objects were bits and pieces of wrecked cars being ruthlessly tossed aside as if a massive thing was plowing them aside.

As the front cars on the opposite side of the road were now brutally thrown aside or crushed under some invisible weight, Danny didn't have the time nor reaction to move the truck they were in safety to the side as whatever had hit the cars in front had now hit them.

The old family truck's front caved in as some invisible force had cut into it and before long it quickly ran all the way up to the passenger side.

Danny watched in muted horror as he saw his daughter get taken away by the invisible force of carnage, he should know that she was fine, she had powers that would keep her safe, but with how suddenly everything has happened and right after his truck is being twisted, yanked and tossed into the side pavement as though a petulant child were tossing away a broken toy, he should of known Taylor would be fine.

His seatbelt did its job to keep him in his palace as the truck tumbled with windows shattering and metal scraping with a horrendous screeches.

Soon, what was left of his truck came to a stop right side up, dazed and in shock, Danny could feel his body stun him with pain, muscles were strained from violent back-and-forth movement in his neck and joints, and he felt blood leak from the cuts in his skin as glass and metal fragments tore at him, but he was lucky, as it all could have been worse, much worse, if he had been in the passenger seat…

"TAYLOR!" his mind snapped back to focus as his heart began to rapidly pump his blood, frantically he tore off his seatbelt and nearly fell onto the road filled with debris from whatever had hit all those other cars.

None of that mattered as his eyes swept around until…There!

He found his Daughter, but the site of her position and condition gave him pause.

He found Taylor underneath a mound of METAL, there was blood covering her and OIL.

[DESTINATION]

she wasn't moving, he couldn't see her move, he willed his body forward, but it felt too slow, too slow, his heart, he could hear its pounding and his breathing hitching.

A familiar site, all that METAL, crushed cars, bodies lying about.

A familiar scene, too much, it resembled that one singular horrible day too well.

[AGREEMENT]

his eyes betrayed him, the site was blurry damnable FLESH, he wiped his eyes but too slow, his limbs, too slow.

He was nearing her prone body, was she whole or torn in two under that METAL, her beautiful white hair stained with blood and OIL.

He tripped and his face met the site of a torn hand and mangled FLESH.

[TRAJECTORY]

He could not hear anymore, he could not hear the sound of sirens, the echo of screams, and tearing METAL.

He should count himself lucky not to hear it, right now he could only repeat one singular thing, one name.

"Taylor" if he could hear his own voice, what would it sound like, the sound of a wounded animal mewling out as it cradled its young.

The overwhelming feeling of sorrow and loss, memories provided hateful comparisons to that day, the day he lost his light.

And now under METAL, covered in blood and OIL, his last light, his last hope, his greatest CREATION, his own FLESH and blood lay motionless.

[AGREEMENT]

A spike of pain laced through his skull and how it burned, but not as much as that deep all too familiar pit of darkness that threatened to pull him back into the abyss.

He was about to beg, to scream his lungs out and cry to the heavens above to take it back, he didn't want this pain.

He was just a single father who wanted his daughter back, he wanted to see her smile again, he wanted to be there when she showed him her boyfriend or girlfriend and to threaten them with his shotgun.

He wanted to see the day she graduated and the day she moved out and the day she got married before then having children of her own where he could tell tales to them about how the bay used to be.

And as if by divine intervention his prayer was answered.

He froze still as he saw the twitches run up and down his daughter's fingers before then her opened.

Seeing those two beautiful blue orbs where the greatest thing he would ever see outside of holding her when she was born.

"Taylor" his hearing was coming back to him, he could hear her breathing and when he managed to hug her he could feel the beat of her own heart.

"D-dad" tears were now freely flowing from his eyes as he let his heart take over.

Danny didn't care how long it was that he cried for while hugging his daughter, he thanked god and any else remotely similar.

He began to realise that his daughter was unharmed, there was not even a scratch on her as she pulled herself out from the METAL.

He also regrettably, began to realise that he and his daughter were among the few lucky ones to escape the carnage that was all around them.

Both heard the screaming, smelt the blood, and FLESH.

Quickly the police and the PRT arrived, and both swept the area as they helped those who they could and provided comfort to those who they couldn't, the fire brigade and paramedics then came to ferry the injured and dead to the nearest hospitals.

It didn't take long for a local hero by the name of Velocity to zoom in and see them, they saw how alarmed he looked as his hand snapped to his right ear and began talking in a hurried way before making his way over to ascertain their conditions.

What happened next was a blur of activity to Danny, he and Taylor were both questioned by the hero who then had them take an armored van back to the PRT HQ where once they arrived would be sent towards the infirmary where they treated their own troopers and the occasional Ward or hero.

Danny didn't care though, he didn't care about himself at that moment, all he cared about was his daughter and that she was okay, she was here with him safe and sound, and he could find comfort in that truth.

And because she was okay he could now finally rest his eyes for a bit as sleep would likely get rid of his bone-shivering worry, and that nasty headache at the back of his head.

However, he really should have paid more attention to the fact that he was dismantling a defibrillator and turning it into a hovering heartbeat-monitoring drone.

The next day, Taylor was off to the side of the room where her Father was speaking at length with Armsmaster and Thee Dragon, they were talking about a bunch of techno-jargon in which Taylor, even though trying to look like she knew what they were saying, was failing miserably to understand what the three Tinkers were going on about.

What she could understand was that her Father's Tinker specialty seemed to lean towards cybernetic implants and ideas on creating automatons that may be able to house an AI-like intelligence.

The Director of course forbade the very idea of even trying to create an AI as well as any plans to make cybernetic implants, but the fact that Taylor's Father could make various forms of UAVs and other remote-controlled bots, plus robotic limbs for crippled PRT and Protectorate personnel was favoured.

But before any of it was to be allowed, Danny would need to go through various time-consuming checks, testing of his creations, and vetted approval by several other Tinkers and bureaucrats up in Washington before he was given any form of green light to begin producing his power-related works.

The idea that regular PRT troopers could likely operate them without issue and the probable replication of them had great value to the organization as a whole, they could be used to scout, be used as medical storage, or assist in treating patients, perhaps even used as a force multiplier for normal fights and probably to even fight against villainous or rouge Parahumans as the drones could be equipped with all manner of support devices or suppression and defensive weapons.

Right now Danny's first creation, a hovering drone with a heart monitor was being dismantled and examined.

Taylor found it strange seeing her Father spout out such scientific words while both local and Canadian Tinkers nodded along as if understanding everything being spewed out by the dockworker.

"Uh, if not too much, I'll just go and wait in the Wards room until you're done," Taylor said to the Tinkers interrupting their techno babble talk.

"Huh, oh uhm, sure Taylor no problem, we'll probably be here for a while" Taylor's Father responded to her while giving her an apologetic smile as she exited the room.

On the way Taylor began pondering the future, now that her father was most likely slated to be a Protectorate hero, it didn't take long for her to think up a rather amusing fantasy that was made into reality.

There they were, Father and Daughter, crime-fighting together with guns blazing and drones buzzing as they fought against a hoard of villains and other ner do wells.

But as she thought about it more upon entering the Wards room, it became clear to her that her Father would likely become 'a bit' overbearing as they would be 'working' together.

"Oh god, my dad's going to embarrass me" She could hear the snickers from the other Wards as they heard her moan of complaint.

"You know, unlike New Wave, I've never seen another hero family with somewhat similar abilities" That was Gallant or better yet Dean, in fact nearly everyone she's met at Victoria's little friend group was part of the Wards and that was quite a surprise.

However, it was very, oh what's the correct word to describe it…weird, odd or something, whatever, it was very 'interesting' that she and Vista were the only girls in the Brockton Bays Ward team while the rest were boys.

Taylor suppressed a groan as she realized her dad would now have more reason to visit her often to check up on her just to remind the boys to not attempt to 'moves' on her.

"Hey, look on the bright side, at least the good guys get another trusted hero that can give us a 'hand' aye, plus Kid has another Tinker whose not a robot to bounce ideas off of other than Halbeard" The goofball that was Clockblocker made himself known as he made a terrible attempt at a joke.

"Well despite how this came to be, we will finally be rid of one of the gangs at least, that's something to look forward to" The Mayor's son, Rory Christner, or Triumph the team leader said to them.

"Good riddance to bad rubbish I say" Vista added in her own two cents to the topic.

If there was one silver lining aside from Taylor and Danny joining the local hero team was that because of Taylor's status as a Ward, even though it wasn't announced yet to the wider public, all the paperwork was done to legitimise her role as she was recognized as a member and thus under protection, so it was a massive no-no to even think about harming a Ward directly or sometimes even indirectly.

And since yesterday's incident where Squealer committed multiple accounts of vehicular manslaughter and attempted murder of a Ward, The drug peddling Merchants have been basically marked for termination, all their members were being ruthlessly hunted down, and their capes were being methodically taken down in an incredibly quick and efficient manner, it was why most of the Wards and other heroes were out in the streets dealing with them alongside mass amount of PRT Troopers, soon Brockton Bay would be free of one of its thorns in its ass.

"And all it took them to get shit done was me getting run over" Taylor whispered to herself, in one dark corner of her mind, she toyed with the idea of waltzing into ether Empire of ABB territory and goading the gangs to deliberately attack her with lethal force just so the PRT and Protectorate would respond in kind.

Better fantasized than said and done though.

Taylor shook away those thoughts, they were not proper for a hero like herself to be thinking about, instead, she focused on how positive it was for the city to be rid of its drug-centered gang.

"Hey, your debut is in a couple of days right," Vista said changing the topic.

"That's right, I'll be getting my costume before it though," Taylor said to the youngest member here, the young girl perked up.

"Oh, that's good, so you've already decided on what it looks like right" Taylor thought back to the concept image design she received today after she made her choice about her outfit yesterday with Mr Chambers.

It was impressive, but she demanded that her skin be covered up more as it was far too exposed for her liking, she was informed that they'd would have the changes ready in the next few hours or so.

"Yep, going for a mix of a naval uniform and diving suit look" The younger hero nodded her head before looking at her green costume, especially the skirt before frowning a bit.

"I kind of wish I had been given more choice in my outfit" Taylor could only imagine how frustrating that must be, to not be given much or any choice in how she would look and to be presented as nothing more than a mascot to the public even though Vista has far more experience in the field as a hero than some of the boys here today.

After a bit, one of the boys offered Taylor a controller as they decided to play a racing game of which Taylor was unfamiliar with, but she appreciated it nonetheless as it both killed time and allowed her to have essentially bond with her teammates, getting to know them more as 'friends'.

It brought up a smile to her lips at the thought of these people being her friends including Victoria, her sister Amy, and the other normal girls at school, it was strange, yet it allowed her to feel an incredibly nice feeling that was happiness, sure she was very skittish and down scared in the beginning to be interacting with people her age.

Emma…she had all but destroyed Taylor's hope for ever having a positive relationship with anyone else, she vaguely remembered one time someone tried to help her only to be ruthlessly scared off and another time when Emma had set up a girl to fake being her friend, to gain her trust only to break so completely that Taylor felt as though she couldn't trust anyone who said they had her best interests at heart.

But these last few days have been, well not fantastic but far better than anything Taylor could ever hope for.

Sure she was shoved into her locker filled with toxic waste but, she got powers quickly after it but not before being sent to the hospital again which brought to light her situation and got the heroes involved, then she got run over by an invisible truck or something which caused her dad to gain powers, but it caused the protectorate to finally get rid of one of the gangs.

'well that's morbid' Taylor then realized the thought path her mind was going down, it seemed when powers were involved with something bad happening to her, the problem was immediately fixed and her life and the city made somewhat better for it, and it has already happened twice now, what would happen a third time, would an Endbringer die.

Come on, she wasn't that lucky.

As time passed from the games being played and the superpowered teens (and kid) talked to one another, they heard an alarm which told them that someone was coming up the elevator, this gave them time to slip on their respective masks before the metallic door opened showing Taylor's Dad and Miss Militia coming out together.

"Hey, Ta-uh, Washington, sorry to keep you waiting, we're done now so we can go home if you're ready," Danny said stumbling on his first words as he was still not all that familiar with Cape culture for hiding ones identity over a hero or villain persona.

Taylor smiled and nodded.

She turned to her friends to bid them farewell, and kindly they said their own goodbyes and wished her Goodluck for her reveal ceremony in the next three days.

Taylor was also reminded that once those three days were up she could pick another power which was another exciting prospect to look forward to, however, she also knew that she didn't know much about the names on the list, one she knew was a Queen of France and some others like Washington were ships.

That meant before picking a name, she'd need to do some online research. After all, her power was derived from a real, existing object: the USS Washington, so it stood to reason to see what the others were.

Soon father and daughter made their way out of the PRT HQ and were kindly given a loaner car to drive back home considering Danny's old truck was wrecked, however, the man didn't want to part with his trusty vehicle, in fact thanks to his power, he's been given many ideas on how to improve it.

He jokingly said he'd transform it into his 'Dannymobile' as he had heard what people call Armsmaster's Tinker bike.

'Oh god he starting it already' Taylor made an audible groan at her Father's words, he just gave an amused chuckle.

As the minutes passed by the duo finally made it back home without being caught in some form of accident.

"Home sweet home" Taylor heard her Father say right before nearly stepping on the rotten wooden plank step to their home.

"Right, I'm fixing that with…" he trailed off as his eyes gained a thoughtful yet faraway look, his power was likely filling his mind with ways to improve the step, to replace the wood with a metal escalator setup with mechanical arms joined to the side to haul up packages and whatnot.

He shook his head, bemused that his power went overboard with him wanting to just replace the step with another wooden plank, but…now that he thought about it, a metallic step would be better wouldn't it, after all.

STEEL abides longer than FLESH.

What If...
[]

She looked in the mirror within the hospital room and gazed at herself.

What looked back did not look like her, how could she, Taylor was tall, flat, skinny lanky bean pole of a girl with an awkward face and beaten down posture, but if there was one thing that she loved about herself it was that she had her mothers black raven hair.

But that was taken away from her, it was all taken away from her.

In the mirror looking back at Taylor was a tall, generous bust, muscled yet elegant, beautiful woman with long lustrous crimson to red hair and red eyes with a pupil resembling a star.

This was not what she was expecting when her fingers touched [Muratas] name.
