I want to add something stupid hilarious here, but ever since I was a young brat, I have always been dreaming about being professional, intelligent and serious.
Never quite managed that, but I have a good feeling right now.

This is my moment. Finally, I can shine.

I'll be good for something yet! You will all see!

Please don't, Alaya was pissed enough the last time you tried something and I was the one that needed to clean all the mess you caused. Do you know just how much time I needed to make the smell go away?

Oh, also voting for:

[X]Don't tell him and just play it off like you got lost in thought.

[X]Tell him about your powers and prove to him that they are real by casting an E-rank spell.
-[X]Tell him that you want to join the Wards as you are also a Tinker and would require resources that are currently out of our budget.

Taylor isn't even sure she has powers yet, is she? She'd probably afraid of feeling silly if she say, tries to cast a light spell and then finds out that reality doesn't work. (Obvious, OOC, we know it will, but in-character, it seems like the first attempt should be done in private, where there's no risk of looking stupid.)

Building a device without robbery is a problem otherwise.

...In my defense, I was perfectly justified in doing what I've done.
It had to be done. It's better this way.
*insert picture of Kyuubey smiling*
Your can trust me.

Speaking of doing stupid things, I wonder if we'll be able to recreate the Book of Darkness eventually?
Or one of the other unique Devices?

Not 100% sure but she's leaning towards yes she does. Due to the fact that she has some information that she shouldn't have in her noodle.

@OverReactionGuy , if we go with the "don't tell" option now, will we have another chance soonish?

Yeah, there would be other chances in the future, but if you guys repeatedly don't tell Danny that would be Taylor's default behaviour about mentioning her powers to Danny. Too the point where she wouldn't tell even when cornered.

Which might cause some drama like that generally does.

If we do it right we could probably just make Reinforce without her being corrupted.

Well, the problem is not the Book or Reinforce, but the people.
The original was made to mostly store knowledge, I think. It was only later on that people started to modify the Book, such as giving the Nachtwal the equivalent of admin rights, and we all know how that ended.

If we ever make any particularly powerful device - especially those that are fully sapient - we will have to make sure to install as many safeguards as possible.
Not against the AI itself, but against any outside interference.

...Then again, I've only seen small tidbits of Nanoha, and might be pulling too much on my Fanon-fu.

"Taylor! Why didn't you tell me you had powers!"

"I didn't want to? Duh."

 ... "Why?"

 "When's the last time you pulled your head out of your own cloud of depression? Hell, when's the last time you actually tried to be a dad?"

... *BSOD*

"... Meh." *Shrug* "See you later."

Me: ... :V I'm a horrible, horrible person. Still have issues with Danny from the Bubblegum Princess version though.

To be fair, the only person in Worm who might be able to change the book would be Contessa, and since Contessa hasn't been building a bunch of tinkertech, not to mention MGLN-tech, there's a good chance she couldn't either.

I don't think we want to make a decision on joining the Wards yet, but telling Danny at least, gives us the freedom to work at home freely, and acquire parts freely. We're not Bug Control Taylor who can work on her workshop without physically being there and has no need to raw materials.

We need metal, crystals, electronics, etc to get started.

And of course, all the time wasted dodging around Danny can be used more constructively this way.

That was when I started to realize that I knew terms that I shouldn't know, and I was already starting to list some things in my head I would need to build a basic device to help me calculate and channel mana from my linker core. I estimated that if I had all the resources needed, it would probably take around three days to make one. A week or two for the more complicated devices.

Looks like:
Wards - We can go straight to Intelligent Devices within a week. We might be able to cut that down further if we enlist Kid Win, Dragon and Armsmaster(assuming he pulls his head out of his ass).

Tell Danny - We'd be able to buy parts openly, or use Danny's union contacts to look for places to salvage the parts needed for a Storage or Armed Device in a week or so, allowing for time to acquire the parts and three days open build time.

Don't tell Danny - We'd be spending extra time not working on it to avoid notice, trying to get the parts as a teenager with no income, and generally doing a lot of nothing.

@OverReactionGuy
Perk ideas:
-Artificer - Able to make more complex Devices, e.g. transformable modes, cartridge system, Blaster system, etc. Each tier adds to the number of extra features you can fit in.
-Magitechnician - Unlocks the ability to design magitech, though it'd start with magic based versions of normal household technology. Tier increases with the scale.
-Alchemist(req transmutation spells) - Be able to use transmutation effects more efficiently/quickly, allowing for combat use of them, or producing a wider variety of materials(the 'basic' transmutations seem likely to need a new spell for each material). Higher levels unlock magical materials.
-<Spell Category> Expert - Barrier Mage, Bombardment Mage, etc. When casting spells in the category, they can acquire addon effects. E.g. Divine Buster Extended for extra range, Starlight Breaker's Barrier Break feature, Divine Shooter's homing feature, Yunno's Healing Barrier, etc.

Take Barrier Expert and then take Yuuno's ability to add-on effects to his barriers, put up a wide one and suddenly Blizzard. Or Fire Storm/I stopped just short of literally shoving you into a volcano. Or... well, you get the idea.

Definitely. Dragon does a lot of AI work and can comprehend other tinker types.

Usually minor, related effects however. If you want more you need to work for it.

"Don't tell our father because he hasn't completely conquered depression 100% on his own like a REAL MAN" is terrible reasoning, so Honesty Is The Best Policy it is!

[X]Tell him about the dream and prove to him that it was real by casting an F-rank spell.

Let's not go through any drama with keeping a secret. We don't necessarily need to join the Wards right this minute, but let's at least be honest here.

Kind of, might have never gotten used because I think a basic environmental shielding is nearly automatic with any device, and very basic can be casted easily? I don't really know, but I think I'm right. So if true, it wouldn't do much in canon. Here though...

We don't need to tell him about the dream. Just powers. The rob is just extra baggage.

We got a few examples of addon effects, but they are mostly along the lines of the same function as the main spell. Nanoha's blast spells got better range/accuracy/penetration, Yuuno's barriers got healing. Zafira has piercing bind spells(that's one way to bind I suppose, impale them on it), Shamal has the portalhax drain trick(though it was mainly for the Book of Darkness to work through a portal and bypass defensive barriers)

@OverReactionGuy, just to make sure, are all the "tell him" votes going to be manually tallied from the auto-tally result? (i.e. if there are 5 votes to tell about powers & cast spell, 3 to tell about dream & cast spell, and 3 of those 8 are for joining wards, it would count as 8 votes for tell him.) Even if that's not the case there will need to be some manual tallying done, since some mention E-rank spell and some mention the corrected F-rank.

Me: ... :V I'm a horrible, horrible person. Still have issues with Danny from the Bubblegum Princess version though.
Keep in mind that Bubblegum Princess!Danny is a result of a series of rolls so bad, ORG redid the system for how events are calculated (and probably ultimately contributed to the reboot). I highly doubt this Danny will be anything like that.

Would we benefit from getting a partnership with Dragon?
We would always benefit from a partnership with Dragon, even if we weren't a Tinker. Because mentor!Dragon is the best Dragon. :)
