Taylor Hebert & The Celestial Dojo

So, Jack Slash wants to target and try to induct Kurama and perhaps Zenko. Despite not being able to get a feel for them via Broadcast. Kurama, who has the full version of the negative emotions/negative intent power that Taylor inherited part of and has since developed into a danger sense.

Kurama, who has in the past destroyed settlements for radiating too much negative emotion.

It's mostly a question of how much damage the Nine do on their way down.

I'm still debating what ability to give Greg Veder. Bug Control would be obvious, but with the current situation I'm thinking a Thinker or projected minions might be better. (I'm resisting the temptation being to give him Minions like in Despicable Me.)

Why not Minions? They'd fit the somewhat goofy, comedic and random nature of the story with their shenanigans, but when you step back, they're strangely competent and effective... Just like Greg can have moments of clarity and insight. Most of the time, they're chaotic and incomprehensible ("Banana!") but when they set their minds to do something, It gets done surprisingly well. And they've seen it all. One of the with a bored look in his face as he tazes Sophia would be completely in character for them.

Plus, they'd drive Greg spare. Just not the whole army (there are thousands of them in the second movie) that Gru has. Maybe seven at most. And don't ask them to try and put out a fire. It doesn't end well (but it is funny).

(I'd toyed with the Taylor could summon various minions as a power at one point; for a body guard, she summons Renamon. For help around the house, Minions. And so on. I think I've got a snippet around here someplace. I really do need to build a plot bunny hutch.)

Perhaps the more he summons the more stupid and incompentent they get. One minion? He's fairly smart. Many minions? Picking their nose dumb as dirt.

Whatever power you give greg His minions or projections should spout voidcowboy style conspiracy theories & internet troll speech.

Ninja minions. Preservation of ninjutsu.
Only problem with that is QA seems to agree with Spree, 'More Is Better'...

Seven is the limit on team size for human-mind 'Span of Control' (look at Management Theory, for at best semi-trusted staff). Trouble is QA breaks that over her knee, and flushes the pieces away... So, what QA does needs constraining, to make a good human-comprehensible story... (Swarm Clones is a good canon example.)

I am here for another humorouse S9 slaughter. My top three are:

1: Off screened in Taylor Varga.
2: Dracula Taylor giving out impaler treatments.
3: Everything in A Darker Path

Have you read Project Gamer: Anime Adjacent? [the thread name is 'anime adjacent' because it's for side stories to the main story which is a DC Young Justice SI, the first of which was a My Hero Academia crossover, so the hundred-chapter Worm crossover won't have been obvious to people who weren't already following it]

@Random832 Yes, but that was not really... Hilarious. Alchemist is very methodical when he decides something needs to die.

Jake Petty, A no named, nobody who has lost everything dear to him decides to go out with a bang, literally. He just also has a target when he does so. The thing that should have no power to stop the nine, a normal mundane human being, wipe out nearly all of them. He was even smart enough to bring back-up who use some high powered rifles to finish any stragglers.

Dracula Taylor in "Queen of Blood" was still trying to be human at that point. Until she reached to point of just saying "Fuck It" and then proceedes to slaughter the nine. This was even followed up with a scene where death takes a few to their own afterlifes and fitting punishments. This is where we learn that, no, no afterlife wants Jack. Not even Hell. Jack then fades into oblivion as there is no place for his spirit and thus nothing to hold it together.

Finally, "A Darker Path" stays true to Ack's style of humor, having a Taylor who is out of fucks to give decide that that violence really is the best solution. She then starts killing off Villains in the most ironic ways she can think of.

Alchemist, well it wasn't bad, but it was not really a fight, again. He is very methodical about killing his enemies. He does not fuck around. It was a cool fight. But it didn't make me laugh.

I guess I was seeing it as a 'hilarious' type of fight because of the online taunting leading up to it [which reminded me of A Darker Path] rather than the fight itself.

Greg triggered from an attack involving a parahuman, that means Trump is on the table. The boy needs friends in the worst way and having him develop tinker powers based on the parahumans he comes into contact with, like say Panacea healing him, would allow for him to create minions he could then empower, which he would based on old comic books he had read.

Yes, little yellow X-Men Minions.

Or you could go with Megamind where he makes tons of tiny little drones and turns every battle into a music video because presentation is key and makes Leet and Uber jealous.

Are we trying to give Greg an actually usable power or just one so he gets bullied more? DreamWorks Minions feels a whole lot like the latter if I'm being honest.

If he's got Shadows mixed with QA, why not just give him Shadow Control powers. But the irony is that it's shadow only, not darkness. So he needs some type of light source to use his powers and if he's in a fully dark area, nothing happens.

So the fledgling ninja has to either just be exposed, or figure out how to hide in plain sight to be fully effective.

Or, you go with (Miyazaki) soot sprites... Problem is that they can't do much but make a place look dirty, maybe move around small things? If he could learn to use their senses they'd be an amazing intel source...

Greg triggered as a result of a Parahuman so likely he'd have a trump power, QA mostly handles master... Here's my idea for a power Greg makes powered copies of video game characters he beats, one summon per defeat. With limitations such as a total population cap and different minions use a different amount of pop dependent on how useful or powerful they'd be and all of them are capped at about PRT threat rating of 3 or maybe 4 in any ability but that would be based on the difficulty of beating them and or the effort to do so. i.e. boss enemies that get mowed down by a max level character would be very weak but a mook enemy that is very difficult and/or time consuming to beat would be stronger.

I came up with these two for Greg Veder's power, but decided to use something else. Here they are though because I thought y'all might enjoy.
Take#1:
* Winslow High School *

Greg Veder suddenly knew exactly what to do, pulling out a keychain that had a vinyl 2d SD version of a video game character. "Ayane, I choose you."

Cherry blossom leaves appeared out of nowhere, swirled together, and then a young woman stood there.

"For the honor of the Mugen Tenshin clan, I arrive," said the purple-haired woman.

"Aren't you kind of short to be a ninja?" asked Sophia, eyes narrowed as she sized the girl up.

"Master, may I teach this little barking dog to respect her betters?" asked the girl.

"It figures that the only way you can get a girl is to make some fake girl with fake boobs," said Emma Barnes from where she was standing behind Sophia.

"Ayane? Hurt them," said Greg Veder.

(7 hit combo!)

Emma Barnes looked at where Sophia ragdolled through the air and landed on the tiled floor with all the grace of a sodden washcloth. After not-so-careful consideration, she screamed and moved to attack.

(3 hit combo!)

Curled up on the floor, vomiting, Emma Barnes considered that perhaps physically attacking someone capable of beating Sophia in a blur of motion was not her wisest choice.

"Anyone else want to make a comment about my breasts?" asked the ninja girl standing in front of Greg Veder.

"They're very nice," said one of the seniors. "Though I do have a question about how close you are to the version in the games."

"'Games'?" asked Ayane.

"'Dead or Alive'," said that senior. "Game published back in... I guess the 90s? I think they're one of the companies that relocated from Japan into the Ukraine."

"Yeah, not my usual kind of game," agreed Greg Veder, eyeing the back of his kunoichi. "But I have one of the figures on my shelf..."

"Master, I would see this 'figure'," said Ayane before she noticed she was fading away. "Interesting..."

* PRT HQ ENE, Director's Office *
* 1630 Briefing *

"Publically outed parahuman, Greg Veder, given the tentative cape name 'Toymander' and likewise tentative rating of Master 4," said Armsmaster. "Is able to form a single tangible independently-acting minion as long as he has a figurine or likeness of that character. These projections are able to use skills and abilities in keeping with their original inspiration, further investigation is pending as actual in-depth knowledge is not apparently within his capabilities."

Director Emily Piggot of the PRT glowered over her steepled hands. "Based on transcripts of his interview, the Master in question is an idiot."

Miss Militia stirred and responded. "Psych analysis indicates high-normal intelligence but has some ADHD and learning disabilities."

"He's well known, and we need to get him in the Wards before the Empire tries to recruit him." Director Piggot shook her head. With him being white and blond, he was a likely target for recruitment for the Empire. The boy's mouth had apparently been writing checks he hadn't been able to cash, leading to the whole beating thing.

"If he actually has the figurine or model of the character in question," continued Armsmaster, "his projection of that character is less of a strain for Toymander and he can keep the projection going until his focus wanders. The projection has a distinct personality and can argue with him and in three cases was considerably more sensible."

"Have actual psychologists review the videos, if he has psych issues that can be resolved so much the better," said Director Piggot. "We'll also need to know what his range is or whether standard ADHD medications can help with the focus issue."

"On better news, we have enough for Shadow Stalker to be given a choice of juvenile detention or Ward membership," said Miss Militia.

"Why would we want her?" asked Director Piggot. "She was on our radar long enough to determine she's violent, has no respect for rules or regulations or laws, and is a PR nightmare waiting to happen."

"Her ability to launch phased projectiles will likely be effective against Brutes," noted Armsmaster.

"Okay, that's one," admitted Director Piggot. "And?"

"She may be redeemable," stated Miss Militia.

"You could say the same about any number of actual villains, including Hookwolf," said the Director. "If we're going with powers, I'd say Toymander is more useful."

"How so?" asked Armsmaster, sounding curious.

"I admit I'm not familiar with these characters," admitted Director Piggot, "but the three he demonstrated were Ayane - a martial artist who calls herself a ninja but doesn't do the ninja-things Zenko or Sub-Zero can do. Herbie, a friendly self-aware Volkswagon Beetle. Finally, there was Roll. A robot girl janitor. I'm not sure what that says about Mister Veder or the sorts of games that are out there."

Take#2:
* Greg Veder *

Suddenly, he KNEW.

Everything around him, he was getting insight into things. Noting tiny bits of what was there and what was not - both yielding information.

He could see not only that Sophia was going to kick at him until he uncurled enough to do a knee-drop onto his solar plexus, and that he could actually die here at her hands.

He could see Julia's almost-feral grin, how she enjoyed seeing blood and she thirsted for seeing his beating because this was how she was - at least or even more so vicious than Sophia.

He could see Madison's wince and knew that she was the weak point of the three Queens of the school. She had a vicious streak like Emma and Sophia, but there was a limit that she would balk at going beyond. Not enough to save him though.

He saw the patterns around him, their emotional states. There was indifference, hostility, annoyance, fear, fascination, disgust - the crowd for all that it had looked like a united front against him had multiple viewpoints and reactions. Nobody would actually help though.
